Has anyone successfully managed to get RUU's to install with Windows 10? I've tried searching and all i seem to get are Windows 10 Mobile references.
I've seen the fixes for Windows 7/8 (Running the RUU in XP Sp3 compatibility mode). However, this does not seem to work.
Any suggestions?
Your thread title is not match to the contents.
You can't extract rom.zip in any windows version as it is encrypted (if that's what you meant by extract the RUU).
Yes .. I can install RUU with Windows 10 (mine is Windows 10 64-bit)
What you need is correct drivers - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64926362&postcount=4
So what actually your problem is ? If you're trying to install Vodafone_UK_4.19.161.2 RUU, that RUU is corrupted, won't work.

Thanks! That was the RUU I was trying to run, and essentially nothing would happen, it would ask for permission to run an then not go any further.
sorry for the thread confusion...updated

I updated to 6.12.161.4 with nandroid, I will probably try the Skydragon Sense 7 ROM at another interval, currently using the Skydragon GPE ROM.
Thank You again!

Your question kept coming up as I searched for why RUUs won't run in Windows 10 64 bit.
Here's a link to the solution that fixed the issue for me:

Thanks to onthezone for the post.
I had to install all x86 and x64 vcredist files from Microsoft before it worked for me. Tip: save the vcredist_##.exe files in folders based on the version they target (i.e. 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012) since all the file names are the same. I ignored the link to GPE full conversion back to sense roms since that didn't apply to me.
Good luck!
Here's the content in case the link ever goes down:

Alright after tons of research and trial and error, I believe I found a fix to the installer crashing after accepting t&c. First make sure you have htc sync manager installed. Then install ALL of the c++ programs from here:
Download Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4 from Official Microsoft Download Center
Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) from Official Microsoft Download Center
Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64) from Official Microsoft Download Center
Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) from Official Microsoft Download Center
Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64) from Official Microsoft Download Center
Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) from Official Microsoft Download Center
Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64) from Official Microsoft Download Center
Then rerun the ruu file with admin and should work.
If your coming from GPE full conversion you will get a error 156 and have to convert back via this guide:
GPE full conversion back to sense roms
Then rerun the ruu file with admin again and should work.

.Net framework is installed in Win XP x64
I did install the .Net framework in Win XP x64 (64bits, not 32 bits) on my PC.
Before installing the .Net framework, the error message *The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). click on ok to terminate the application* was shown.
After installing .Net framework 2.0 or 3.0, then it crashed and showed "DiamonCustomRUU has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Having an issue I've not seen before. I've got an S-OFF M8, AT&T Branded and Super CID. Tried installing the new AT&T Lollipop RUU today and it shuts down after agreeing to the License Agreement. I thought it might be an issue with this particular file, but I re-downloaded it and same thing. Tried a T-Mo file as well and it also failed.
Any idea why? This is a new laptop, running Win7 but I've never had the problem when I've changed laptops before.
I had issues in Windows 8 where it would get to the T&Cs and then stop, changed the RUU compatibility settings to run as Windows 7 and admin and it worked fine so perhaps run the RUU as admin (if you're not already) and see what happens

Good idea, but didn't work for me. I tried turning off Fastboot as well like some suggested. Nevertheless, I kluged my way onto the new AT&T build. Good enough until I get off the road in another week. Thanks for the idea.

So I'm trying to restore my 10 to factory via Ruu.exe that I got from htc site. Made sure I got the correct file for my variant. Installed htc sync drivers and running windows 10 pro.

try right-clicking on the ruu.exe and go to properties, then on the Compatibility tab check the box to run in compatibility mode and try Win 7. I'd still run it as administrator though.
I've not actually restored my 10, but i did fire up the ruu once to make sure it downloaded properly and got the main screen. i'm on win10-1511 still

This is also common when you have an incomplete download. I suggest you re-download the file and try again.
I had the very same problem. The download was good. As soon as I installed the vcredist's the same download worked just fine.

If so, could you help with a tutorial? Thanks for the attention.

exe is the native format of Windows and Windows Phone but it doesn't mean you can copy exe file from your pc and run it.
PC exe files are based on X86 and X64 but Mobile exe files are ARM and they are completely different
Windows CE .exes can be runned?
ARM compiled EXEs can run using my CMD in SSH solution (that @gus33000 automated in Interop Tools). Aside from that, you CAN run a .NET 4/4.5 Console app if it's named specific names (which I explain here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3185766).

Yes, it's supposed to. As long as it was compiled for ARM, it will run.

Anyone with VS installed and experience But arm-porting requires some additional skills - not all API's/functions are available on the arm platform.
I tried to build Far Manager for arm but still need to take care of about 54 issue (replace missing x86/64 functionality).
:silly: I.m still dreaming about mortscript.... imagine something like tasker on android
Do it. This was the exact reason I made sure to make a tutorial on how to get CMD running over SSH when I noticed it was possible. If you have the talent to, get your programming on.. Make apps and solutions that are useful for us. Let's get W10M on a better level and show everyone what we can do
@augustinionut, you don't need mortscript on windows, it has (suppose to but I haven't checked IoT system32 for it) own tools and services.
@snickler, have you experimented with the services like task scheduler etc.?

I think, zero.
In windows phone 8, The xap file from the website appx4fun.com were supposed to be installed from store app by keeping the XAP file in the root of the sd card and install it from an option in the store. But there is no such option in the store app of Windows 10 mobile. These XAPs can not get install in a regular way( through Interop Tools or By deployment tool ). As far as I think, these XAPs are encrypted and it is first decrypted by the windows phone 8 store and is then installed. Do anyone have any idea on this..?
