Hello experts,
Since didn't find any information I'm wondering if there is any app able to be used as sleep tracker on SWR50?
Thanks a lot
Enrico
You can try "Sleep as Android".

Well, thanks for anwsering.
The developer - Petr - of Sleep as Android told me that SWR50 is not compatible - by now - with it:
"[...] sorry about that but currently we have so far most issues on SWR50. The recent firmware update broke sleep tracking. Currently we are trying to fix this with our SWR50 users.
Definitely, we will also post all updates to the link I mentioned earlier. First it looked like SWR50 does not support sensor batching which would never allow us to get under 40% battery consumption per night. Also it has an accelerometer bug - the sesor cannot be set to lower frequencies - which makes it ratehr 70-80%... but the recent updates shows sensor batching is actually allowed, but it is broken. So we will se if some update in the future will make it working. But now it seems we have a good chance to run without batching on the watch with the next version, but consumption will probably be high - around 70-80%.. where with other Wear devices we get to 15%".
Suggestions? Any other SLEEP TRACKING that works on SWR50?
I really dont understand why Google and Sony made from us alpha testers of their system and watches.... Why is it possible that wristbands like MiBand can track sleep and walks for 30days with 10times smaller battery??? Technology is invented and as 15USD MBand shows - very cheap!
Google with actual version of Android Wear is on good way to kill this kind of watches.... Almost no SMS support, no email support, no calendar support, sleep and walk tracking almost unusable...)
If a smartwatch doesn't do what you don't buy one.Buy a fitness band.right now smart watches are just an extension of your phones
Unfortunatelly, nowadays are wear watches very bad phone extension. No way to see sms, email, calendar events, This must be essential part of system. No way to see weather, when IWANT to see weather. It is really crazy when google shows me weather almost every day around midnight, when I am in bed and it is impossible to block it.
Do you want to see older notification - no way. Do you want to edit notification (length and number of vibration) - no way... etc etc.
And Sony SW3 are sport watches, so tracking is essential part of their usage....
I get all the the notification from yahoo mail and gmail. I receive and reply to my wifes text messages without ever having to pick up my n6.And I can listen to music without my phone.
I've sent mine back, I am very unimpressed by it. I have a z3, lifelog isn't very good anyway, but this watch
doesn't sync properly with it, doesn't recognise sleep, and as stated, it is a very very cut down version of phone
facilities. You need to have your phone close to hand for the bluetooth to work, it's just a bit pointless at this
stage. Maybe in the future they will become more useful. Android Wear is very frustrating to use too. The battery
lost about 30 percent after a run in the watch, the only thing of interest was that it tracked my run without having
to ask it. A poor piece of technology, simply unecessary at this time.

Unnecessary at this time for YOU. Plenty of us are loving this watch and android wear in general. I haven't had any of the of issues you stated. Maybe you should of done more research before buying the watch.

Unfortunately, I'm one of the people having troubles with the watch. I did research, hence I bought the watch. The problem is that sony doesn't mind telling lies to consumers to get you to buy. They tell you about features that will come to you months after release as if they are already available. Sleep tracking is mentioned on the feature list, so is step counting.
In my case, steps are about a thousand off comparing steps on the watch and steps logged on lifelog. Sleep logging is shown in lifelog, however, to date, it never worked on my M8+SW50 combo.
I accepted that that's how sony does things. I'll only start enjoying my watch 6-12 months from now. The Ps3, psvita, PlayStation app and Ps4 proved this.
We wait....

I really hope, that Sony (and google) will release new version of wear OS much faster then new version of Android.... Because v 5.0 Lollipop was released more then year after 4.4 I am little bit afraid, because Google synchronized numbering of version od Android and Wear OS.

If you bought this watch with the mindset that it would be a fitbit kind of device, then imo you didn't do your research. Maybe Sony advertised extra features but with knowing how all wear devices have been in the last year, I didnt expect that much in that department since that's not there main area of focus Yes, android wear devices have the ability but it's certainly not their primary function. I would definitely suggest getting a fitbit. Trust me, I wish this watch had those extra fitness features down better but I didn't know buy this watch thinking it would excel in that department.
But the watch does do step counting. All android wear devices do it but they're not the most accurate. But again, that's not the main function of these watches.

True, I also knew that the functions are not primary features. I hoped to buy an all in one product because once again, that is what sony led me to believe. I used Fitbit charge before, maybe that's why I'm disappointed at the inaccuracies etc.
This is just to inform people who are intending to buy the sw50 with similar thinking. They need to know that it's not a bad product, however, it doesn't excel in some features that are advertised.
If you want accurate fitness/sleep tracking performance, then go for products specifically designed for that.
Lesson learned .

Exactly! I'm still waiting for an all in one as well. But I think the Sony watch does a decent job in doing it all. There's not one out there though that does it all prefect yet either. It's really either a smart watch with some fitness features or a fitness band that excels in step counting, etc but with no smartphone extension. Maybe with updates it'll get better. I think it's more a limitation of google fit software in lollipop in its algorithm in calculating steps rather than Sony.

Same here, no any problems exept the same (steps are inaccurate, cards are uneditabe etc) and the sleep tracker never works, exept today, im bit sick so i slept like 18 hours barely moving at all (must sleep on my back so i can breath) and when i woke up and checked SW3, It said my daily sleeping goal was suceeded ! then i checked lifelog and there it was, 14:11 sleep last night ! not really accurate but something at least and it actually works, i dunno how it counts it sleeping or how it now decided to work but man it does something... i thing it has something to do with not moving much (but still some) at a certain period of time before it thinks you are sleeping...

Hmm. According to the release notes, this version of Sleep As Android made yesterday includes a fix for the Smartwatch 3. I'm not seeing it in the Play store yet, but I guess that's probably coming soon. I installed the apk to test it out and got some conflicting information. When I started sleep tracking the notification on the phone says "Sorry, SmartWatch 3 is not yet fully supported!", however, the chart in the app shows movement from the watch's accelerometer. Seems like it should work, but I guess I won't know for sure until tomorrow morning.
I'm trying asap and will let you know.
I even get the message about SWR50 (not fully suported): I think it is because of huge battery drain.
It seems to have worked perfectly. My only complaint is that the Lucid dreaming vibrations woke me up, but that is neither here nor there.
I have tried Sleep as Android beta (mentioned in this forum) today and it is still unusable. Battery drain about 70 percent during 9 hours in bed is really awful. It is more then 200 times more then MiBand needs for the same. I am really afreaid that it is hardware bug of SW3 which will never be resolved.

Oh. So I guess it's kind of subjective at this point. I consider it usable, I just have to put the watch on the charger a half hour before bed so I know it has enough charge for the night.
Just a quick question,
Is there any way to have a constant step counter as a constant card notification? I remember back when I first got the watch, Google fit would have an app that I could see steps throughout the day but it was only there for one day. After that it's never come back. I know I can just use "Show me my steps" but I'd like to have it always shown as a static card.
I've Google Fit installed on my phone. It does show up as a static card unless i dismiss it..
Have you considered an existing watch face or designing your own that has a step counter always showing?

If you use the stock watch face Vigor and go to settings, you can select Customized Information. There you can select up to three things you want to see on the display, including Daily Steps.
I also noted last week that if I play the piano, the Zenwatch seems to think I'm walking. Played a gig on Friday night and it thought I'd spent two hours walking my legs off.

Wow, that's bad! My FitBit would not make that kind of mistakes... this confirms my impression that Android Wear is too immature yet to replace a fitness band.
It was a rock and roll gig, so my hands were probably moving a lot. I'll check again shortly, since I've had very little experience with these types of things. I'd kind of assumed it was collaborating with phone data to make the information more reliable.
That being said, I'm happy to overlook the shortcoming if it tells me I'm doing more exercise than I need to :silly:

It might be doing that to be able to handle walking on a treadmill. I know that mine does record my treadmill use. It seems like it would be pretty hard to distinguish that from lots of other types of movement. Maybe it assumes stationary, rhythmic motion is walking on a treadmill?

That makes sense, yes. The movements could be similar.
There's been a growing trend of software assuming lots of things. Maybe if they asked questions they'd be smarter.
I just purchased my first ever smart watch and did I make a good choice? I'm not a fitness junkey so this will be more of a watch/notification watch. Any tips that you guys have will greatly be appreciated.
Perhaps not. Samsung have made the watch half useless if you intended to just use it as a daily watch to get your call notifications. Not so long ago, all Samsung Gear S3 and Galaxy Watch users stopped receiving incoming Skype and Whatsapp call/video call notifications on their watches. I took the issue to Samsung personally and I got told this fairytale that their watches have never been receiving such notifications. As a long-time user of their watches, I know that to be a load of hogwash. So, up to you but I'd recommend returning it and get something else. It's not like receiving those notifications isn't a core function of the watch, or something. In fact, it's sometimes the only reason any of us buy it in the first place. It's also a function that any other watch can do effortlessly.

I currently have the s9 and yesterday I ordered the galaxy watch and the iconx(2018) headphones together. It only made sense to order everything Samsung. But if you're suggesting returning the product, what would you recommend getting?
I know you mentioned you're not a fitness fanatic but I'll just throw this one at you, try the Fitbit Ionic. It does the important stuff and it looks good. I say that with hesitation because 'looks' becomes subjective, however, technically the watch functions rather well and excels in some areas.

I have the galaxy watch now after having previous versions. I get Skype and WhatsApp notifications. I think the access to calls texts and emails is great. One thing you will have to search for is watch faces that have what you need on the watch face to make them easy to access.
I dont use Skype and wouldn't touch Whatsapp so I can't comment on those. Stair climbing has never worked because of the 10 ft algorithm Samsung uses but the rest of the fitness functions and GPS on my Galaxy are right on. I use them multiple times a week at the gym and they're spot on. My heart rate will match with the machines always within 1 or 2 bpm. The only thing I compare it to is my previous Fitbit and my wife's Fitbit. Fitbit makes crap and I'll never buy their junk again. Their fitness trackers are a joke so before you buy, make an account there and read through their community posts.

Yes, there are plenty of free watch faces on Galaxy Apps and if you don't find what you want you can try apps like facer or watchmaker, plus if you want it you could use the Galaxy Watch Designer app on your pc to make your custom watch faces.

I would say that it's something only you can answer.
For me the galaxy watch is great because it fits all my needs.
I get all the notifications I really need from work, family and friends and I can answer them but it's mostly calls, emails and WhatsApp messages(I do check out the notifications from social media but only to see if It can be interesting to check on the phone or pc).
It also tracks all the workout I do and I can store all the music I need for it so I can go out and do it without any need of my phone.
I know people that need less things from a smartwatch and could do fine with a less expensive one from any other brand, meanwhile other people need or want to use some apps that don't work great with a Samsung watch and choose either a android or apple watch to make it work better with the phone they have.
You should check what you want from a smartwatch and look if a Samsung watch is really what suits your needs.
Feel free to ask more things if you want.
I had several different models. S3 was too big for my hand and stopped working three times. In addition, Samsug's heart rate measurement is bad, you can not measure the heart rate and walk. FitBit is great for fitness but is ugly. There is not too much apps, you can not personalize the watch too much. Some activities recorded only after 10 minutes. My husband has a Garmin tactix and that's the best watch I've ever seen. Unfortunately, the watch is too big for my tight hand. The battery is much better, heart rate measurement is more precise, sleep tracking is better.... I'm impressed
The 1 problem I had with all other watches was i couldn't go all day on a charge with everything turned on.
This one does. Nuff said. For that, it's worth it.
Since having this phone, I have had a few issues.. First of all, the phone itself is of fair design. It's performance and speed is better than my previous phone (LG G7 ThinQ). I like the idea of no bloat whats so ever.. Only apps are what I have actually installed myself, plus the normal google apps. I do however not impressed, with the lack of a stronger screen, as this thing scratches easily.. I did purchase a Spigen case, and now awaiting for my screen protector, for my 2nd Pixel 3a XL.
Now reason why I have another. 1) when a call comes in, the phone would not have a good ring, even with ring volume all the way up. 2) When on a call, and another coming in, the phone would not notify me of incoming calls only a few times.. 3) Sitting at the computer with the phone next to me. My wife was calling while on her lunch break, and she called at least 4 times, but not once did the phone ring on my end.. 4) I was having major cell issues and data issues.. In a major city (Dallas) I could not receive calls or even get data.. All though I'm around Dallas more often than not. Never had this issue with any previous phones, so this was a surprise. 5) The touch screen was very buggy. So with this phone I but in a physical SIM Card, rather than the one that is built into the phone. Not sure if it will help, with call/data, but only time will tell.
When I called Sprint, they said it sounds like I have a lemon, and sent me a brand new one again.. No refurbish one. It even came with it's retail box, and all the stuff it normally come with.. So far this phone is fine (we shall see) over the next few weeks.. If it happens again, Google with get the next phone call.. Now has anyone experienced any of the following issues? What was you solution.
My pixel 3a xl has been for the most part excellent. I am using it on AT&T 4g network. I would say try calling sprint and have them reactivate your sim card or have them put a new one in. I have not had any issues getting calls or having any missed calls. The phone rings loudly and the ear piece sounds clear. I purchased my 3a XL from best buy brand new as well during launch.

When I got the new one from Sprint, I put in a new sim.. Now to see how it goes.. 24 hrs in, so far so good.
I would also recommend turning off digital well being as it takes a lot of this phones processing power. The phone also will learn your app usage and adjust over time and it will feel a lot smoother after a few weeks.
Best of luck to you. This phone has a solid camera and the way you use a Android phone everything just works well.

I heard about that digital well being, and was the first thing I disabled, on the new phone... I personally like the camera, very responsive. I do not care if the pictures are not perfect.. I'm not a photographer, and do not take a lot of pics anyway.. I will say the phone overall is very snappy, compared to previous phones I have used, mainly high end flagship phones..

DWB (Digital Well-Being) has been problematical period - not just on Pixels (follow the complaints on it). The reason I've been able to duck it on my S7 Snapdragon is because I don't use Google Assistant. I should have my own 3a XL in not quite three days (Best Buy). I'll be using the first two days to settle on initial loadout (P vs. Q); like you, doubledragon, I don't take much in the way of pictures (in fact, the camera had exactly nothing to do with why I chose the 3a XL). I have nothing in the way of genuine, serious, away-from-the-sales-peeps time using P, let alone Q - which is why I'll be using the two day shakedown period to get used to quibbles.. (If anybody tries to say there won't be quibbles using a new OS or phone, they are lying, lying, lying: there are ALWAYS quibbles - with OS, phone, or both. (This will be the first new Android phone I have owned - ever; only the second Nexus OR Pixel I have ever owned (first Android phone I ever owned was my Mom's Galaxy Nexus - which is currently a paperweight); the S7 Snapdragon never ran genuine P - let alone Q; the Pixel 3a XL can run either (I have factory images of both downloaded and ready to install) - therefore, lots of reasons for there to BE quirks and quibbles.
Don't buy into the whole "Digital Wellbeing is making my phone slow" idea. Turning off Digital Wellbeing does not stop the information from being collected at the system level. It simply prevents the app from displaying the information - which doesn't actually affect your phone's performance. If you have it turned off and then turn it on later, it will immediately show data going back 10 days. It doesn't start collecting information from the point where you turned the feature on - it's already collected and saved that information for immediate use by the app.
At the very least make an informed decision based on your own experiences, not the cries from the "pitchfork and torch wielding mob" that is the internet sometimes. In other words, turn it off because you don't like it, or don't use it. But don't turn it off because you heard "it's slowing everyone's phone down" from the internet and certainly don't add to the internet hysteria by posting that you turned it off based on the "mob mentality" if you haven't even bothered to try it yourself.
PS - although my post follows the one from PGHammer, this post is NOT a rebuke of his actions. It sounds like he decided not to even use Google Assistant based on his own experiences.

Exactly - I don't use Google Assistant, and never have. Not on the S7, and not on the Pixel, either.

During what activity or inactivity did the incident happen?
How long was the device in use before the incident (days, weeks, months, etc)?
Also, please send us photos of the following:
Focus on the specific issue and the overall placement of device
Photos of the device (front and back)
Photos of the charging cable, adapter, or charging station (for third-party accessories, include the make and model)
{Only if you reported an injury} Photos of the affected area
All this seems a bit excessive to me, especially considering that I gave all this information on a 15 minute call, but what the hell do I know, I only did elevator electronics tech support before becoming the manager of that unit.
This was my response:
The issue is simple, my Pixel watch will not charge. I have two charger pods bought from the Google store and neither one charges the watch. I can place the watch on either of the pods and the charging animation does not come on and the battery level does not change from the way it was when I woke up: 57%. Two things I noticed is that the watch will get warm if left on the charger, and the app on my Pixel 7 Pro shows connected but never syncs.

No, the drive is not working, it is still at 57% despite trying off and on all day long to charge it.
As I said before the watch got warm when I tried charging it. The tech that I spoke to before this email told me to not put it back on the charger, to prevent the unit from getting warm - so I have only briefly tried to see if maybe the charge would begin. Foolish though, but I am an optimist.

No, I am not sending photos because it's stupid. My phone is not physically damaged in any way, not even a scratch on the face.
I eagerly await your call.

This should be interesting, I spent a bit of time on the phone and I was referred to a "Senior Specialist". This person emailed me with these requests:
To better assist you with your current Google Pixel Watch concern, please reply to this email with these information:
Detailed description of the issue (please include as much information as possible):
Device serial number:
Purchase date:
Retailer or store (e.g. Google Store, Best Buy, etc.) where the watch was purchased:
Country where you’re currently in:
Address:
Contact number:
Incident date:
Questions to answer:
Is the device still working?
Was there a change in device temperature?
Did you use the cable that came with the device to charge your watch?
If not, what’s the brand of the charging cable you used?
During what activity or inactivity did the incident happen?

Good luck. What is it about "not charging" that they don't understand! Obviously, they have a menu of items no matter what the issue.

I missed the part when you performed a factory reset twice and powered off the device for 5-10 minutes before you add any 3rd party apps.
-- Be certain that you are not a tester of Google Play Services.

Nope. I'm not doing any resets at all.
I'm waiting for them to tell me to do that and I'll expect a promise to replace the watch if the issue comes up a second time. I don't think having to do resets is normal in any way.

Factory resets can fix many chronic issues whether you believe in snake oil or not.

Not really the point. I simply don't want factory resets to be the new normal for me - I don't plan on doing it on a daily basis. Or even on a weekly basis.
If that's the case then I want my money back. I want them to promise me a new watch should this occur again.

To gain a better understanding of your line of thought.
-- You'd rather Google send a replacement instead of you trying to correct the issue yourself.
-- You are hoping that if and when you get a new watch, that all will be right in the world.
-- If the same issue occurs with the new device - there is always the dreaded Apple Watch.

Mostly correct.
I have no problem doing a factory reset - I object to having to do it on a regular basis.
I would hope a new device would work correctly. I had a Samsung Galaxy watch years ago and when it failed for the fourth time, I took a freaking hammer to it - it was more satisfying to do that than to continue having problems. Pixel Watch better watch out (sorry about the pun).
And, no, no way in hell would I wear an Apple device.
This is my latest email exchange:
Hello Lord,
I understand you don't want to send photos of your device, but in order for our team to properly isolate what's happening with your Pixel Watch, our team also needs to thoroughly check your device and its components like the charger and its brick.
ME:
My device is less than 3 months old. The time works, Google Keep works, the heart rate works, the temperature works, and the time to Sunrise works.
There are no scratches, no dents, no dirt, no dings, I did not try to drown it, I did not tape it to a stick of Dynamite, nothing physically wrong with the watch - it is stuck at 57% charging.
WHAT will a picture tell you?
I have the Google charging pods - wireless, in case you are confused.
If you insist on pictures, then we are done. All you would get is a picture of a perfect-looking watch.
I will share my experiences on https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/google-pixel-watch.12613/
And frankly, your demands are ridiculous.
Please reply and tell me if we are done or not.
Thank you.

I guess I will ask: Have you tried a RESET or reboot or restart or whatever at all? I don't see that mentioned in the original post but I might have missed it. If not, a reset would be the place to start. It does not mean it will be a permanent requirement. It might just clear up the current glitch, whatever caused it. I did have to do a full reset the second day I owned it. But now it has not had any issues. I have had it about as long as you have.
I will admit, I would definitely like better battery life.

I could, and I will, but I wanted it to be on the record, for them to ask me to do it so that if it happens again I can pressure them into giving me a new watch.

The reasoning behind Google asking for photos is to clarify and to answer the magic question on whether the item is damaged in any form or fashion.
Somewhere along the lines of chasing ghosts - you might want to consider hiring an attorney that specialize in defective products if you want to escalate this to a new level.

I have told them that the time works, the date works, the heart rate works, the weather works, Google Keep works, weather works - why on earth would they think it's damaged?
I'm 73 years old and have had to resort to tech support from time to time, I have never been asked for pictures of a product. Hell, I'm typing this on a Pixel 7 Pro that I got with a trade in for a Pixel 3A, sight unseen, and no photos!

Bear in mind - Google has been hosed by a great number of scam artists over the years regarding false accusations and dirty tactics to get Google to replacement product under false pretenses.
-- Therefore, by you not complying to their request will raise a red flag whether you like it or not.

OK. So be it. My hammer is ready.
I personally believe that it's absurd to have all those requirements before speaking a single word to me - I still have not had a phone call from this guy.
I will be selling my Pixel 7 Pro, and my Pixel Buds - I feel that I can't trust them anymore.

I feel your pain. Gone are the days where a simple call to customer service was all that was required.
In today's world of high tech and bad actors, most of the Fortune 500 companies are becoming very weary of their bottom line.
In my last job, I didn't work for a Fortune 500, but I did work in tech support, the real kind - definitely not a call center. I started as tech support, became senior field tech support, and wound up being the manager. I traveled all over the United States, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Canada.
The company is an elevator controller manufacturer, all the equipment was built in-house. Anything from the controllers, the door operators, the panels, and even the switches were built in-house - motors too. It was a privately owned company until the owners sold it to a venture company from SF. They were in their 80s and didn't trust their own kids to run it.
When someone called us we talked them through any problems they were having, any at all, with any equipment that we built. We would help with installation and troubleshooting. I gave symposiums where union members could get college credits. I even wrote technical manuals.
If you are curious, download this one - I did most of the work on it: https://www.gal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/GALaxy_III_Traction_Elevator_ControllerV3.3.15.pdf
What pisses me off about this problem I'm having is that all the requirements that he demanded are before the guy spoke a single word to me, to ask me what was going on. The presumption that I had broken the thing before a single word passed between us makes me furious.
I invested in the Google ecosystem very heavily and I am just about ready to rip everything out.

I remembered back in the '90's when simply hanging up the phone and redialing several times until you actually hit paydirt with someone who actually cares.
There has been talk over the decades of the 'Decline of Customer Service in America', but all that shows us is that most of these companies just need re-evaluate their training manuals but continue to blame it on the tight labor market or a shortage of qualified employees. But it often comes down to not taking the time to instill core service training for all customer-facing employees.
"But it often comes down to not taking the time to instill core service training for all customer-facing employees."
I completely agree - everything in that last company I worked for was done as on-the-job training. We hired right out of college for the most part and we taught them everything, took them to job sites, and introduced them to the customers. The elevator industry is a small one and you develop friendships, and relationships with the customers. One of the best jobs I have ever had.
I made tons of friends, and the owner gave me an Amex card and he told me to "use the **** out of it" - the deal was that I'd show up to a place like Chicago, go to three or four job sites, and then buy the guys food and drink all night long. I did this in almost every big city in the US and Canada for years and never once had to fill out expense sheets.
What really kills me are call centers - I hate them with a passion that surprises even me. Whoever came up with that should burn in hell for eternity.
I had this happen to me once and all it took to clear was to hold down both buttons to do a Hard Reset and when it came backup it charged again.
Have you tried that? Hard Resetting doesn't factory reset the watch it just powers it down and reboots it.
