HTC One M8 Touch screen problem - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello folks,
I have had my HTC M8 Dual sim for over a year now and had no problem with it whatsoever. On January I think I had an official Android upgrade after that top screen started malfunctioning. It was like I am pressing with finger on top of screen all the time. And then, the same area stopped responding to touches at all. Screenshots with screen test is attached.
Soft and hard reset did not help.
Any idea what could be wrong and how I can fix it?

I have same problem with my m7 tried doing everything however didn't suceed. I'f someone could help even I would be happy

I had the same happen on a One V, I had to replace the screen to fix it. The digitizer was damaged by something. The phone did experience a few drops, and was in my pocket when I fell.
The connection inside may have come loose as well. It is something that can only be fixed by opening it up at this point.

HTC Touch Diamond Screen not responding

Hi All,
My diamond screen suddenly stopped responding. The screen calibration is also not working. I tried a hard reset and after that, it stopped at the screen 'Tap the screen to setup your windows phone'. I am not even able to do that. Any help is appreciable. Thanks in advance.

Try re-flashing a rom, or maybe your touch screen (digitizer) needs replacing, if you do this yourself i would recommend buying the digitizer and lcd together as one, it will make a whole lot easier trust me lol. The lcd screen is easy to break.
Had this problem, too, but since I couldn't get back to stock SPL at that time I put my Diamond into a shelf for about 2 days.
When I then tried to get back to stock SPL the screen suddenly responded again.
So, try to take off the battery for a long time (more than a day) and hope it recovers.
Didn't have the problem again.
Change the Touch Screen

I had a similar problem solved with changing the touch screen since the phone was under warranty I have to revert to the stock SPL and stock ROM before I gave it for service. If your phone is not under warranty you can buy the touch screen from ebay.com with a manual and all required instruments for replacing the same.
This happened to me because I was talking to someone over an hour in a humid place which caused sweat to get into the phone through the speakers.

Solution
Okay, I've just had this problem with an HTC Touch, and I think this works with any HTC that has a "digitizer" rather than an all-in-one touchscreen (I think newer phones have digitisers).
I'm not sure if this will always work, but I've just done it - sometimes the inactive touch screen is "broken" because the layers are stuck together (so the phone can't tell where the touch is, hence unresponsive). With mine, I looked at the screen side on and could see a kind of "oily" patch in the light.
The solution is to get masking/gaffa tape - the very sticky brown one. Stick it down on the screen/digitizer and then keep pulling it off - this pulls the layers from each other. I kept repeating this lots before it worked - and in the end I pulled the top layer completely off (I think you should pull from the top of the phone, as the layers need to be attached at the bottom of the screen/digitizer). Once it pulled away, I gently lay it back down (after panicking!!) and hey presto it started working again.
Good luck!

Putting the phone in the fridge makes screen work!
I know this is an old thread but why does putting the phone in the fridge for a few minutes make the touch screen work? Even if I put it out of a moving car and it cools down, then it works for a bit.
Anyone know why this is and how I can fix the phone permanently?

touch screen starting to not work

hey,
I had a problem a few days ago where some parts of my touch screen (near the home, menu, etc. buttons) started to not work. and today when I woke up, the whole screen is not working. It seems to respond every now and then, but barely.
I'm assuming this to be a hardware problem, but I am not sure. Anybody had a similar problem before? disassembly would be my last resort, how should I go about fixing this? Thanks.
I have the same problem. about a half inch band across the very bottom of the screen. Weird thing is sometimes the whole screen will become unresponsive (if it stays on for too long) then turning the screen off and on and unlocking the phone makes it go away for a while. The digitizer glass in my phone seems to need replacing. I've scoped a replacement out online (don't have the link) for about 30 bucks. there are also many assembly/disassembly videos for the phone. Looks like it will take a lot to get the digitizer out.
I was having the same problem... Just replaced the digitizer and still have the same issues... anyone have an idea?
I have a similar problem but with the soft keyboard. It becomes unresponsive very often..tried many roms and diff softkeyboards but the ptoblem still there

[Q] HTC Desire 816 touchscreen not working

I dropped my HTC Desire 816 twice today accidentally and the screen smashed.
The phone works fine but the touchscreen won't work. I have tried restarting the phone multiple times and everything.
Is there anything I can do to make the screen work (like maybe something has moved on the inside) or is the crack the issue and therefore I need to get it replaced? I'm fine having a smashed screen as long as the actual phone works.
Thanks!

I assume it's issue with digitizer, Try replace digitizer and your device should good to go. And use bumper or avoid drop!
Should be like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Touch-Scree...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item3ce450fa46
Find one for yourself and get replace it. Or head over to htc service center to get things done.

1-inch of the Bottom of my Screen DOESN'T Register Touch after Internal Cleaning.

Yesterday, my microphone was too quiet, so I decided to clean it out by going into my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus for T-Mobile. Just some quick background information, there was nothing wrong with the phone before this incident and I do repair smartphones for a living, so I know what I am doing. I have never seen this problem EVER! I took everything out of the phone (except for separating the screen from the frame) to dust it and clean it out. Upon reassembly, everything was working, including the screen. Upon trying to open Messages, I noticed that I could not touch the icon. Upon doing a HWModuleTest, about 1-inch of the bottom of the screen does not register touch AT ALL (would provide picture, but XDA won't let me because I am new). I tried cleaning the flex connection and even going as far as to flashing a completely new Android Factory ROM to rule out a firmware issue. I have never seen this problem in the 14 years I have been working with electronics. Now I have ordered a replacement screen for the phone hoping that that will fix the issue, but I want to know why it happened and if there is any way to fix it WITHOUT having to replace the screen, being that a new screen is $200. Did I short out the digitizer? Please help and ask questions! Thanks in advance!

HTC 10 Half of Display Not Working After Screen Replacement

The battery on my HTC 10 was completely shot and needed to be replaced. I'm a careful person by nature and this being my first phone repair, I bought an extra screen just in case something happened getting it apart. Followed a guide by jerryrigeverything on how to take apart the phone, got the battery replaced, everything seemed to go smoothly. When I went to test the display before screwing everything together, the new screen I installed lit up, but the right half of the display only showed as a repeating segment from the middle of the screen. Thinking the connector was loose, I disconnected and reconnected the display and made sure everything was tight: same problem. I reinstalled the original display, which I made sure had worked after cutting through the adhesive before I disconnected it, and now the old display is also showing the same issue.
The touch screen on the broken side of the display still works, I'm able to type PIN numbers and whatnot even though I can't see them properly. Only thing I can think of is maybe the connection actually got some debris or something inside of it? I don't think I damaged anything, as I was super careful, but it was also my first time opening up a phone.
Sorry for the inefficiently worded post. Any help would be really appreciated.
Did you resolve this?
I have exactly the same issue you describe after my screen replacement (with two new screens) Believing the first was a dud.
I have done many screens/batteries on my m7, m8's previously never having a problem.
I'm currently back to running my M8 and miss my 10!
Anyone reading this and has any suggestions they are all welcome!!
Thank you in advance
Exactly the same issue this guy has

I'm now wondering if it is just bad aftermarket screens?
Has anyone else replaced their screen successfully, if so where did you get the screen?
Thanks Rory
I have been having the same problem. I just tested screen number 4 that has the same exact problem. Is there a specific brand that is known to test well?
I dropped my 10 in water at work...believe it was a salty water at that. It stopped working completely. I opened the phone to check the internal components for damage and I broke the LCD doing so. I replaced the battery and the screen at almost the same time. I think it may have been a week or two apart.
The battery is still working. The screen worked initially but the phone kept getting really hot and the heat kills the phone. I tried keeping it cool at all times which kept it operational. It hasn't been activated since I quickly replaced the phone with another of my lines upgrades. I went back to the phone to check it out and try using it as a replacement for my daughter but the screen no longer works.
The battery charges just fine...the led light indicates that well. I've tried reinstalling it several times with no success getting the screen working again. I tried the original screen to check and I could see light and it was responding but its not usable so I'm stuck with a phone that has a new non-working display. I think the brand was called DIYRepair or similar.
If anyone has encountered this and has advice...I'd be happy to try anything.
