Air bubble under protector or under screen? - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greetings fellow members,
I'm plagued by an air bubble on the bottom left corner of my screen and I'm unsure on whether it is under the screen protector or under the screen itself. I am unsure as a (tempered glass) screen protector was immediately placed on the screen after the plastic packaging has been taken off.
I would like to ask for the opinions of everyone. I have attached a pic of the air bubble at the bottom left corner.
Thanks!

I also used a tempered glass and there we're huge air pockets, i slept it off and the next day it was gone
did this happen immedietly? have you waited some time??
you can always use a little force and try to force it out of an edge

Hi, thanks for your reply. My air pockets were not huge per se. I slept it off, it has been a night and it's still there the next morning. I tried using a squegee as well as a microfibre cloth to get that air bubble or whatever it is out but to no avail. Will be replacing my screen protector today. If it still remains, I guess I would go for a warranty claim.

Hi,
Is it occur after applying screen protector? If yes, you could remove the screen protector and clean the screen protector with plastic tape. I'm doing this trick when I found that after applying it on my phone screen.

UPDATE: I have changed my screen protector and stall vendors, no matter how hard they tried to remove the air bubble, could not. I am really disappointed and it is my first encounter with a phone with an air bubble between the glass and LCD. I will do my best to get customer support from Asus and am praying that everything will go well. I will update my thread in case anyone encountered the same issue and is looking for support as well.

UPDATE2: I have gotten a heads up from the Online Customer Service Rep through the Online Chat on the MyASUS app to send my device to a service center. Surprisingly, there wasn't even a need to bring the box, all that's needed to be brought was the phone.

Soft Glass?

My nexus phone has about 10 bad scratches and now has a hairline crack on the screen. I have NEVER EVER has a broken screen going back to my sprint PPC 6601? I dont know what hardened glass they used but it sucks
That's why I always use a wet apply screen protector, I recommend one for your next phone.
Two, 1/8" scratches on my phone is, without using a screen protector since about May is all I got, really not even noticeable unless looking for them. Even took it to the beach twice, sorry for your bad luck OP.
I'm using my GNex since its Germany launch in November 2011 without a screen protector or a case, took it to the beach, used it several times as a flash light while fixing my car, have it on the laboratory table at work next to different solvents, and went many times drinking with it and found it on the floor the next day. All it got is a barely visible 1cm scratch that you can only see in the right light if you know where to look.
So sorry for your bad luck, but the hardened glass is sufficient for my usage.
9 months without a case or screen protector for me. Not a mark on it anywhere. :good:
Only got a small one under ear speaker. Screen itself is flawless. No protector for 8 months now...

Any cracked screens?

Just wondering how everyone's phones is holding up since there aren't any real good protective cases or user drop test videos yet. I haven't dropped my oppo yet but I'm curious to find out who has and how the phone stood up to the fall.
I have for sure had some issues and I am not happy with them. somehow my screen has scratches on it, in 2 or 3 places. In the very top right corner it is starting to look like air bubbles under a screen protector, where the screen glass actually looks like it is coming off. It has fallen once, and bounced, the bottom corner of the bezel is damaged due to the fall. The scratches appeared on my screen weeks before the fall.

I took off the screen protector as it wasn't fitted properly in one of the corners, I have ordered more as the screen is a dust magnet. I have ordered the iFace Mall cases for my phone, it's so annoying having to order accessories from China because no-one in the UK seems to sell them.
I dropped my oppo twice by now.
The first time from about 30cm on tiled flor, and the second time yesterday from about one meter on tiled floor.
At the first fall it falls on the upper left edge, there you can see that the metalframe had prevented more damage.
At the second fall it fall on the display side. Now the "plastic frame" arround the screen prevented damage to the screen.
Ha I managed to drop mine today as well about 3 1/2 feet on to hard concrete and it bounced on 3 corners and the back cover popped off. I just knew once I picked it up that it was done for but the screen was untouched and the metal bumper took allot of the impact. If this would of been my old iphone it would of certainly cracked. Very happy with the durability of this phone.

I just bought oppo find 7 last week because of the good spec they offer but I was dissapointed with it after only 1 week. My oppo have been heating up frequently and sometimes a bit lagging. My phone was very hot on the first day itself while I was just setting up my new phone such as installing app and sync my account. I can feel it even with the casing. And it also a bit laggy when wake up from sleep. When I double tap, the screen will wake up but I need to wait few second before it respond. Sometimes I need to double tap to off and on again a few time only it works. Its sometimes get annoying when you want to access your phone quickly. But this, I still can bare with but what finally drew the last straw is the fragility of the phone. I always put my phone in the small pouch inside my handbag. And yesterday when I come back home, I found out the screen on my phone is crack. I was so shock and try to recall what I did and I remember when I ask my friend to pass me my bag, she did put down my bag on the table a bit harder. And that's the only thing I think can think of that cause the most impact. I was so sad and disappointed with oppo because the screen crack just because of this small impact even though its protected with a casing and a curve hd tempered glass. Its so different from what was advertised with the toughness of their guerilla glass if it can't even withstand this small impact which other phone brand have no problem with it. This experience is making me doubting the quality of oppo phone and its only been a week since I bought it. Now my friend and family also starting to doubt oppo phone since what happen to my phone.
Well a week ago my oppo fall on the road, cracking on the left side, top of it
I use a protective case of transparent plastic, but on the corners, near the screen, doesn`t protect well....:crying:
Finally, some days ago i discover that the cracks, are from my Nilkellin screen protector, and not the Gorilla itself!:laugh:
I order another Nilkellin H9 and im very happy to make the investiment on this, because it seems it really protected my screen!:angel:
cracked and dead
Lets start this out with a disclaimer... I HAVE NEVER HAD A CRACKED SCREEN BEFORE... but I managed to be in a hurry one day at the store getting my son out of his car seat and dropped my phone from waste height onto the concrete... poof, the screen is killed and all touch responsiveness gone.. So, I order a screen off aliexpress, it gets here and I install it.... Two days later I'm on a bike ride up my favorite trail (phone in a padded pocket of a backpack) and I ate hit a rock coming down forcing my balls into my handlebars but overall still staying on the bike. Get to the bottom of the mountain, take phone out to turn off the gps, and there is my nice and new screen cracked again... again with no touch response.
Fast forward like 4 months and I finally calmed down enough to order another screen and try again. Let's see how long this one lasts, lol.... This time I did order a tempered glass screen protector from the get-go, so hopefully that helps.
Hi giznad. You replaced the screen or led the task to a technician? I can't find a video for the Find 7a. It was dificult to do?
Thanks.

Anyone grab any screen protectors yet?

I'd really hate having to spend $50 dollars on a new Whitestone protector. I've seen some cheaper alternatives on Alibaba for the Note 10 and S10 series, but nothing for the S20 Ultra. Any alternative suggestions other than leave the default film protector for now?
So I used to use the Whitestone Dome on all my phones but I found out that assurion has a screen only replacement for phones, I paid a deductible of $35 for my S10+ and someone came to my house and fixed my phone. Since this day, I stopped buying screen protector
Note. I have no idea if the Ultra will have the same screen replacement program, I assume it does.
I have been using whitestone since the S8+.
Rarely do I get a perfect install, but today I got pretty close on my S10 ultra. Bubble free, some small specs of dust that you don't see unless on an all-white screen.
It was an easier install this time due to the curved edges being reduced to much less of a curve.

How is the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner performing after the install?

I just found out about the whitestone and this was my first time using one. I learned the hard way that a perfectly level surface is not a suggestion. So first install was an utter fail. I used the backup screen and it went ok, had to wait for like 5 minutes for the liquid to fully spread. i assume this was from the failed first attempt. Once it fully spread, i moved the screen around to get it perfectly placed so that i couldn't see any air pockets underneath the corners. then i used the UV light to cure it and everything looks great now.
To answer your question, the fingerprint reader has worked flawless for me. Since i immediately put on the protector, i didnt get to use the finger print reader much before. So its hard to compare, but there is minimal delay for me for it reading the finger print. Honestly 90% of the time the camera picks up my face and unlocks before i have the chance to use the finger print.

I had the same issues and since I never used a glass and yet alone a wet application screen protector I botched the first one. The adhesive didn't roll down the then little circle and I accidentally tilted it to the right. Everything went wrong. Cleaned it went for the 2nd one and I was super careful after letting the adhesive out. It was still a bit to the side but I was able to slightly tilt it and center the drop. Once I pulled the tab it spread as evenly as it could have but I had a slight air bubble on the top left. I waited about 2min but it wasn't moving so I applied slight pressure from right to left to spread it a bit and it ended up spreading evenly after.
Idk if I ****ed it up again but we will see if it holds. It feels and looks amazing and I'm glad to get rid of the oem film as that **** scratches by breathing on it.

My OEM protector had nicks and scratches out of the box...
Pretty much same scenario you described. Put mine on Tuesday night and no issues so far. I think we will be fine so long as you had no air bubbles before the curing.
I Noticed a tiny delay when using the screen protector. I did re-enroll my fingers, but it was slightly faster for me with the oem protector. (which offers only scratch protection)
Do you guys believe the S20 Series of device would be fine with non loca screenprotectors? those available for practically all other flat screen devices? since the screen isn't curved that extreme anymore.
Seems a tad faster than the Note 10+ with the Domeglass protector.
Something changed with these protectors over the last year. I used to get perfect installations every time. Last 4 had bubbles even though I follow the instructions to the letter. These will also crack VERY easily. Think this may be my last DG..

Why would you put another on?

use it for a couple of month and you know why....

General Replace your screen protector if there's air beneath it!

Couple months ago air got between the inner screen protector and the screen along the crease like we've all seen before by other Fold 3 owners.
When I opened the Fold today I noticed a few dead pixels right in the middle of the inner screen. Closing and opening it again apparently killed the whole screen along the crease. The left side is still working, right side is completely dead.
I think the screen suffered a lot when opening the Fold. The screen protector probably moved a little bit every time I opened it and created some kind of pressure to the screen because of the air underneath. At least that's my explanation for it.
So if you've got air beneath your screen protector, replace it before your Fold ends like mine..
When mine started to peel out, I've just taken it out completely. I've assumed it's safer that way, so e.g. sand does not get between the protector and the screen.
It's ca month I'm using it without protector and all works great so far (also there are videos on YT saying that screen presents better without it, but nonetheless I would not remove it unless it peels out)

I read that you loose warranty if you remove it, that's why I didnt do it. Now that I have to send it in I don't want to risk Samsung rejecting it because I peeled it off, you know.
There's also no official store close to where I live where I could have replaced the screen protector.
Taking mine in on Monday as I started to get an air gap at the bottom of the hinge... Hope it holds out until then
I got mine in mint condition from Swappa and it had the inner screen protector with no issues but after about a month of heavy use it started coming up at the bottom in the crease so I just removed it because it was getting hair and pocket lint under it and making the screen look bad. So far months later I've had zero issues.
Considering I got this second hand, I never expected a warranty anyway so if anything were to happen I plan on either trading it in for something else or paying for a repair at a local shop or do it myself (I own my computer repair business and I could probably figure it out)

Question Z FOLD 3 INNER SCREEN CRACKS..

So, recently my z fold 3 developed some small Cracks on the inner screen along the "CREASE". It's more than a year of use and now it's not under the warranty. It seems to be a common problem as these folding screen have a limited lifespan..
What to do..??
Are you unfold in temperatures below 0 degrees celcius?
If you are cracks so only possible is replace screen, use like this for full damage or sold like broken and buy new device.

Just check it's not the factory fitted screen protector that's not cracked. Mine cracked after ~12 months.
This can be removed and the screen has been fine since (>2 months now)
No man.. I removed the screen protector long time ago when the factory fitted screen protector started to intake bubbles along the crease.. after using it for a while I removed the screen protector and now I can discover new tiny cracks in every 2-3 days... it feels the screen will break in half if this continues..
You removed the Screen Protector and now you complain, that the screen developped some cracks? and now you want to know, what to do?
It's easy: Send it in for repair or dispose your device and buy a new one ...

Thats a shame. I agree with the post above, I think cold temperatures make them more susceptible.

You HAVE TO when it bubbles up, because it traps dirt and actually cracks the screen early. The screen protector doesn't protect from cracks forming in the crease of the display.
Samsung under fire as Galaxy Z Fold 3 screens crack for no reason at all after warranty expires
Multiple Galaxy Z Fold 3 users are complaining about a cracked internal display even though their phone sustained no trauma.
www.phonearena.com
Bigger case
My inner screen protector went bonkers about a week or two before 1 yr warranty expired last August....contacted Samsung and they sent me to a place to have a new screen protector installed (no fee). The person didn't do a good job, had a few bubbles.....I eventually traded it in to Samsung at the time the ZFold4 came out. Hope inner screen protector lasts longer.
The same crack happened to me as well.
I had to remove the screen protector after 6 month because it started to peel at the crease, trapping dust under it.
Two month after warranty expired, the screen cracked internally in the middle.
Our local samsung dealer claim that I broke the screen though no damage can be seen.
Someone should put a class action against samsung. It seems that everyone who purchased a samsung foldable device, will join the claim.
