Windows uses x86 processors. Note runs on an ARM processor.
Why would you need a Desktop OS on a tablet anyway?

Dear @Stevethegreat , To be honest , I don't really agree with the 2nd part of your answer , It's clear that it''s x86 but it doesn't really mean that it doesn't boot on ARM devices ( I hope you don't need any more explanation ) also , Dear @Artriel , It's not really impossible to boot these on such an ARM Device AFAIK ( for example , you can google MAGLDR the bootloader which made the booting of x86 OSs on HTC LEO and esp HTC One M7 in both Win 8 was booted and the pix are out with no release ... but it's possible ( if you over look some Bugs which can get fixed with some more work ) !!!!!! ) so what we currently need is an UEFI Bootloader which is not that easy to build and you should work as a Company ( Microsoft !!! ) so , I don't think there whould be such a release this early ... BTW , mate , there are many Awesome ROMs , Linux Booters ... go try one .... also take a look at RemixOS ... it's a good choice ... Good luck

I think they're some kind of emulation. So -yeah- technically possible to boot, but most probably slow to run.
I'm still unclear how you're planning to run x86 code (win10) on ARM (I mean without emulating).

Blown !!! .... I'm talking about my cover ...

Alright ... Thanks for blowing my cover and letting every body know it ( anyway , as you thought it's all a simulation , I got to know that you haven't tried MAGLDR ) ... about booting , to be brief , It's not that hard to make an NT / RT Kernel boot . the problem is to boot it completely and without crashes ... my goal is to make a boot loader with these features ( I know it's hard to understand How it's going to be done but here's a brief note of the Bold features of the project :
# When you boot the Device , instead of the ugly " GALAXY Note 10.1 2014 ED " , a user interface appears allowing the user to choose the OS he want's to boot ( The UI is currently text based but the Graphical one is under development ) %% Done %%
# Boot's the Chosen OS "directly" %% Done %%
# The OS should get edited to become compatible with "the new architecture" %% Done %%
# The new boot loader enables the Installation of Win RT !!! %% WIP %%
# The new boot loader has some needed features which are essential in my opinion . %% TBD %%
# The OS is going to support Our Drivers ( Not Completely ... but almost 80% ) %% WIP %%
# The OS is going to work smooth without Speed loss %% WIP %%
** OH , How long I have written !!!! .... what a great Novel !!! .... anyway , please consider that this project is under development since 2010 !!! ... and as you know , " it's easier said than done !!! " so let Software Engineers do that ( Cuz it's not too device specific , you can have it on other devices after a small edit !!! ) ... anyway , I'll let you know more , later ... I'm currently busy applying to study abroad ...

I own a Note 10.1 like mentioned. If such a thing is possible I would dump TouchWiz instantly.
But there is substance in saying that the architecture is different between the OSes.
I just wish I could multi boot my M8 GPE with Windows 10 too...

Great Thanks for your interest , Dear friend , Tomorrow is the day for my life's first " University Enterance Exam " and I'm a bit anxious ( after 3 years of studying ) but if I do a good job about it , there is going to be some screen shots to release ... also about the booting OSes , let me tell you that currently XP ( my own main goal ) and 95 and 98 are all tested and 95% functional ( just some small WIPs which is quite natural ) but their capable for daily usage ( although the battery is not as great as in android which is quite natural ,too and was even over my personal expectations ) and I even used Office 2007 on them fully functional ( as you think for sure , it's quite old but for testing purpose , it was just fine ) and I even played Hercules ( Yep , the Old school game ... ) I just need you guys' preys to do a good job in the exam and then I'll release some screen shots ... I hope it helped !!! and made you and my other friends hopeful to P60X's developmental future ... God Help us all

Android on Universal

Android is a new open source mobile operating system that Google developed and an SDK has just been made available.
It would be great to see this ported to the Universal if its possible.
I don't see why it would not run since the Universal can already run Linux (to some extent) and Android is just based on that. Whether and to what extent the hardware can be supported is another question that only our programmers can answer. As we can surely count HTC out on supporting their legacy devices it might not be worth anybodies time in the end.
SDK for Android would not help at all. It is just a set of headers and import libraries. To port something to a device you need complete source codes of its kernel, software, etc. Even more - we don't know hardware requirements for Android. It may require the NOR flash to run from it - and we don't have it on our device at all.

Nobody uses NOR these days, it's too expensive and provides no real
benefit over NAND. The XIP days are over.
I hate java with passion, but i don't see any reason why Android software
will not be running on the universal.
Any news? I mean: can Universal run an Android ROM?
I saw something on tytnII, is there an hope?
can anyone confirm if android requires a customised hardware or minimum requirements....
By The Looks Of It I Shouldnt See Why Not...
I Saw That Video Of It On The Tytn And It Looks Like Its Just A Linux Based Kernel Booting Though Haret.
Theirs Already Some Pretty Good Progress With Linux On The UNI And I Dont See Why It Shouldnt Be Possible To Patch This Up. (Wish I Could But Im Not A Linux Coder )
maybe something like this
(click on the emote)
could be done for univ.
Getting A Replacement
I Get My Replacement XDA Exec On Monday Hopefully So Ill See If I Can Do Anything. No Promises Though
Regards,
OllieD
It looks promising but I am also awaiting the Ubuntu Mobile edition for PCC: it looks awesome!
if it has to run java bytecode
hi a .CAB solution should be possible. tis my prefered choice at present. KVM with class jar anyone??
any news ?
Kaiser can run Android, any ROM for Uni?
In this thread we have Android ported in to a Kaiser, hope someone is working on an Android ROM for UNI!!
It looks very nice the interface
Does anyone knows more info about this?
Thanks
Gracias
Any news on Android for Uni?
I've been trying to get it to work on my ELFin too, but i gave up when i only managed to get the Linwizard running without startx... (i dont know how to telnet and startx -.-)
Any news on this?
I'm thinking of getting a universal but i'm gathering info on it atm!
Has anyone been able to get some real progress on this matter?
I installed this onto my main memory, but when I run it I get a blank screen and the phone vibrates continuously, what am I doing wrong? I think this version is supposed to work on the Universal.
hye !
i also tried to install android on my universal, but it didn't work at all, i only had a black sreen and it vibrate without stopping. if someone has an idea, or a new thread were we can find out a running android os for uni... i take it !
Very keen on this
Is there a project? .. I'm a developer and would be willing to assist, but i haven't got enough experience with these devices to start the project off myself...
Count me in as a beta tester
It would be great to have Android on Uni!!
So this news means that very soon developers can start working on android to be ported on other devices!!!

LG KS20 on Linux ??? ( LiMo )

Hi everybody , I was on youtube when i saw that video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1etbtava-g
Any info ???
No info but it looks awesome, it seems to be really smooth, I would love to have something like that on my KS20!
I found this
http://www.limofoundation.org/
Do you think that we can flash our KS20 with this OS ?
My english is not good , so please excuse me if I made some mistakes
someone got more information about this ?! looks very interesting but i cant find much about it via google and co.
greetz
limo its a project, this video its a testdrive demonstaration.
I found our phone (LG KS20) at here
http://www.limofoundation.org/en/limo-handsets.html
LG LiMo phone
^^ I think that's our KS20 with LiMo inside
I hope that we can also have it !!
I'm trying to boot android on my KS20 but i don't find one android release which boot arf =(
If someone can try to compile a new release of android which boot on KS20 , it will be great
Sorry for my bad english :$
Android | LiMo @ LG KS20
YOHA.. would be time to get rid of that WM6.1 from my LG KS20..
But, wait, LiMo is completely another thing than Android..
And besides that, I'm also pretty sure that Linux does work on the LG KS20, there is anyhow no trace of users able to do so in the wild till now..
So this means that either Android than some LiMo adehrent version should be available around: afaik there are no traces of such images or even help to build from sources..
Is this right or do somebody of you have some links/hints?
Maybe the closest relative to this is anyhow the HTC based Android compilations found in this forum (Vougue and Phantom..), maybe starting from them somehow..
But if someone has updates.. please do some postings here!
Cheers,
tent:wq
Hi everyone
After a hole night of compilation , i've obtain 4 files
"Generated: (out/target/product/generic/android-info.txt)
Target system fs image: out/target/product/generic/obj/PACKAGING/systemimage_unopt_intermediates/system.img
Install system fs image: out/target/product/generic/system.img
Target ram disk: out/target/product/generic/ramdisk.img
Target userdata fs image: out/target/product/generic/userdata.img"
A System.img , userdata.img , ramdisk.img and a text file android-info.txt
I don't know what to do with this files ( maybe haret ??? )
if someone would help me , it'll would be really apreciate ^^
Thanks
yuuuhuuu i'll be waitin for next info and release
Any new info on this? Willing to get rid of wm as soon as possible.

News? (Android on LG KS20)
I searched several times, but no traces of KS20 port of Android for the moment.
If you look at the nearest hardware device in advanced dev, you will see it's not gonna happen soon with full features :

No Android release for KS20
I'm sorry guys but it will be hard to have Android on KS20.
This LGE phone is based on MSM7200 old Qualcomm chipset at 400MHz.
Qualcomm started developing Android releases on newer MSM7200A which not only has higher clock for the ARM11 application processor, but also different architecture in terms of graphic acceleration. This means there will not be any official release compatible with KS20 in the future.
Although me and other engineers, who have access to Android and Qcom drivers code, would like to port it to this device, we are struggled by the fact that we don't have any drivers from LGE, to make all other things working (primarly camera and display). So, no way we can do it for now...
Anyway, without the benefit of having Qualcomm Adreno 3D graphic accelerator on it, it will be a pain to run Android UI on KS20!

Hi, you can try to load 0.8 linux images and almost all of other initrd like angstrom etc... with earlier Htc Niki's Kernel. Unfortunately I can't login trough ssh and GPIOs detection list from Haret doesn't correspond to the ones listed in the detailed Ks20 service manual...
I'm starting a new thread and I hope to involve some people with more skill than me...
ok, let me know about that new thread and links to the material and instructions, and I'll also try to contribute.

you can see the platform on N9 at this link :

I feel the important question is: why to do that? Besides to prove that it can be done I see no other point until we have working modem in Android (or in any other platform). Meego is an even less supported platform than Bada now (even Intel suspended the development and concentrate on Android now)...

WinRT on Nexus 7

Good afternoon!
A few days ago came into my hands one file, it was a way I've found windows rt restore img. Googling found that hardware stuffing differs only display resolution and count-tion of memory (in Asus Vivo RT 2 GB, Microsoft Surface 2GB while the Nexus 7 1 GB), but the problem is that all WinRT tablet is uefi bootloader. Remembering Projects OSX86 and about chameleon, empire efi, decided to port the bootloader on Nexus. Make the type MultiBoot.
who will help me in my endeavors?
Cotulla make with htc hd2 magldr>uefi>win rt (magldr this is custom loader with sdcard boot support) / can we make a analog of magldr for nexus 7?
Hi, I acan't help but don't see why this isn't possible (albeit very hard) as win rt has been run on htc hd2 http://www.xda-developers.com/windows-mobile/htc-hd2-refuses-to-die-now-runs-windows-rt/ however I beleive a custom firmware was written for the very purpose.
I am trying to do the complete opposite and install android/ubuntu on the vivo tab tf600. Best of luck and please post updates if you make any progress.
need people who can write uefi loader/ please write.

Unfortunately I don't have the technical knowledge to be able to help you with that...
But I think I've read that MAGLDR-UEFI was based on tianocore, so you can start with that!
Code:
tianocore.sourceforge.net
But it's an awesome project!:highfive:
I hope you can make it happen! :fingers-crossed:
Just now, we need MS SurfaceRT tablet, and I collect the money for it.
But in priority I have psVita Hacking...

Nokia X, just showing "NOKIA" nothing else

Hey fellas! I might have done a very stupid act by installing cyanogenmod in my Nokia X. It was going pretty well after that but suddenly I thought of installing Kali Linux! So I used Complete Linux installer the most ****ing app I've ever tried, and I chose "Kali Linux image to load after Android boots" option !!!!!!!
So it started to boot but my device is struck with that bloody " NOKIA " in block white color!
Now I'm not able to do anything except just watching that " NOKIA " symbol!
So please please please please........,..................
Help this juvenile out!
And PLEASE.... tell me fast! I want my phone back in about 1 or 2 days!! Maybe impossible but its better than going to that sucking NOKIA Care Centre!
