Steering wheel control on canbus cars (GM) - MTCB Android Head Units Q&A

Hello all, I have a Chevy Malibu and I wanted to use the steering wheel control on my eonon GA2114. I have wired ASWC-1 but it didn't give any signal in the learning mode. Any ideas? Anyone did this on GM cars? Thank you.

I am also trying to figure this out, I got a PAC-rg5-gm11 interface which has a blue wire and a 3.5mm headphone plug to retain steering wheel controls, but not sure how to hook that up to the key1 5v, or key 2 5v, none seem to work.

Any luck on this yet? I'm in the same boat with my jeep. Trying to figure out the wiring before everything gets here. The PAC unit has 1 headphones looking jack and 1 blue wire. The eanon radio I'm getting has 2 swc data wires.

If you cut off the headphone jack you should have two wires red and black (or possibly white) just connect the red one to one of the key wires (I used key1) on the radio harness.

I just figured that out. Set the canbus to pioneer and it worked perfectly. Wish I saw this post earlier today lol

Headphone adapter

Has anybody actually managed to use their own headphones using an adapter. Thinking of buying the XDA Orbit but I'm cautious about the usb headphone socket.
Thanks,
Ezman
the bundled headphones are absolute toss! i'd love to be able to use my own...

Expansys will ship the adapter on the 8th of December (http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=138247) . I haven't found this adapter anywhere else and I don't know of anyone who has it (except one guy in this very forum???) so I can't let you know if it's acceptable and working as promised or not.
One thing that should be VERY interesting is if the radio reception is good with this adapter and a pair of standard headphones attached to it (and using the FM radio registry hack). Has anybody (who has the adapter of course...) tried it?
well if it's the same as the spv m3100 socket then this should work, not that i have any confidence in my ability to successfully do it

Any progress on adapters for this device? It's a bit of a setback to not be able to use your own headphones with this device isn't it? Maybe I just need to get an ipod and shut up but hell, seems like a shame when i could use my old magician as an mp3 player.
Here's someone who uses the HTC S620 Audio Jack Converter.

i think so...
And is the sound level loud enough with this adaptor and a good headphone. I mean with the media player because for all other applications (FM radio, phone, etc...) it's OK.

Does this registry hack exist? I would love to be able to use my own headphones instead of the crappy XDA ones.
HKLM/System/State/Hardware/
set Headset to '1'
but the next time, your headset is connected and reconnected, the registry entry is again reset to '0'
it makes no sence to use the 'hack', cause all You will get is broadband noise without an antenna connected.
if you are familar with soldering, you can open the mic-housing (carefully with your fingernails), unsolder the headphones, and replace it with an 3.5mm female jack. So you can use Your own headphones, and the antenna is still connected.

No it doesnt, although i have this adapter in my car so i can run the mp3s off my phone, and the car stereo has radio anyway, which i may add never has anything good on anyway
Also, when this adapter is connected to the car, when someone rings i can hear them through the cars speakers but the adapter blocks the microphone signal so the person calling cannot hear me

This is actually quite easy to do, just buy a socket from Maplin for about £3 then solder between the mic and the crappy htc eadphones. Viola - I now have my senheissers back AND mic and radio function! OK I do have about 2 metres of cable to route around my clothing but that just adds to the fun.

Just did that last weekend, but when I popped open the housing with my fingernail, well there really is not enough room to fit a jack socket in there, with the headset that comes with the o2 orbit anyway, the mic is right in the way. I had a really slim socket all ready to go which I'd pulled out of a tiny broken sony radio. So I had to just chop the end off a 3.5mm extension lead with a nice ready moulded on socket. It was a 5 min job and looks like it was made that way, everything still works.

aux line with control

Any one know if such a thing exists?
I use a male/male headphone jack to connect my phone to my car. The car also has an ipod connector. If I hook up an iphone to that I can skip songs from the head unit.
I'd love to be able to skip songs on my phone from the headunit too... not sure why it doesn't send whatever signal down an aux line that a headset with controls sends, but it doesn't. Next best thing would be if the aux line had a button on it I could press to skip. Any one know if that exists?
Thanks.

the issue is with your headunit, not with your aux cable.

The issue? There's no issue. I'm looking to purchase an aux cable that has a button I can use for skipping.
Sorry to tell you, but as far as I've seen, you won't find something like that.
Better make it yourself.

IIRC I have/had that first one and was able to use the play/pause and next/previous track functions but not volume controls. That cord of course has to be plugged directly into the phone and your existing aux cord in the other end to your head unit.

No mic on bluetooth?

Just installed a JY unit. Not getting anything at all on the mic. I have a parrot ck3100 mono mic plugged into the jack in back. Does it require a stereo mic? Does the unit mute the internal mic when you have a mic plugged in? Possibly a mic selection option or mute that I missed? This is the rk3188 1024x600 unit if it matters. Brand new 8" car specific CRV model.

You'll need a 4 pole male to 3 pole or 2 pole female 3.5mm audio adapter in order for your parrot mic to work as intended. Check out the poles on your parrot and the JY stock external mic in order to verify the correct adapter to order. I'm fairly sure your JY's 4 pole. You can find the adapters on ebay etc..
Best to all,
R

Joying tech support confirmed that plugging in a mic mutes the internal mic. Also it requires a 4 pole mic. I just used the included mic and everything is good.

Is PAC SWC Module necessary?

I have an Eonon branded RK3188 unit - I replaced an older Pioneer system that a previous owner of the car (2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee) had installed - his setup used a PAC SWC module, which the guys who installed my Eonon used as well - was wondering that since the unit itself seems to have wiring specific to the steering wheel function, if this module is necessary at all? I ask because there on the left side SWC, my middle button mirrors another button, is not recognized independently - I had previously installed a different Android Head Unit, and with that one, the buttons functioned properly -

If your original car SWC system is resistive then you don't need the box.

Thanks for that - now how do I know if it's resistive or not? is there a quick test, or a model chart? Thanks for any help - probably dumb questions, but I have no experience with them -

There must be a Jeep Grand Cherokee forum or a ask a dealer.
I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I use SWC without PAC SWC module. You have only to take a couple of wires from the connector under the steering wheel to the radio (yellow connector if I am remember right), disconnecting the original connector.

Hence, red/yellow should be connected to key1 and red/black should be connected to Key ground. NO box, no nothing.

Did you get this going? I figured this out a few months back, myself. My truck (2005 Ram) didn't have SWAC from the factory, but I installed them myself.
What I did was cut the wire going to the MUX (connector behind instrument cluster. I made a jumper to run from the cut wire off the column and made a jumper to get to the head unit. The HU chassis is already grounded via the harness, so there was no need to make a ground. The jumper made a "Y", with one leg going to Key1 and the other to Key2. Really, I guess you could just run one wire and combine the Key wires together as the HU will sort out the resistance.
Jumper-before soldering/heat shrinking.
Done this way, it can easily be restored.

SWC and CANBUS with Seicane P5 Octacore

Hi everyone,
I am trying to get my steering wheel controls working for my 2013 Volvo XC60. I purchased a P5 unit from Seicane and updated it with HAL9K Mod V4, which made the unit very stable with no issues. The only problem I am having; which I had before the update, is that I cannot get my steering wheel controls to work. The unit came with what looked like a CANBUS connector as part of the harness, but no box. Looking at my Volvo wiring diagram, I only have one wire for steering wheel control. When I connect that wire to KEY 1 or KEY 2 and try to program a button, it randomly ask me to select a function to assign a key.
Going through the wiring, the harness creates a bridge with the wiring harness for the information screen. It bridges off three connectors to the stereo harness and the connector that looks like its for a CANBUS BOX. The three wires are 2 CANBUS lines and a line that goes to the steering wheel remote. Since my vehicle is 2013, I think that i would need a CANBUS decoder box and that the unit should have come with one. Again, if its not needed, the only thing I can think of is bridging the lines from the CANBUS lines & steering wheel control wire that pull from the vehicle directly to the head units 2 CANBUS input lines and the KEY 1.
Sorry if this is confusing. Just seeing if there is something I am missing.
Please let me know if there are any details that I did not provide that would help solve the issue. Thank you.
