Just installed a JY unit. Not getting anything at all on the mic. I have a parrot ck3100 mono mic plugged into the jack in back. Does it require a stereo mic? Does the unit mute the internal mic when you have a mic plugged in? Possibly a mic selection option or mute that I missed? This is the rk3188 1024x600 unit if it matters. Brand new 8" car specific CRV model.

You'll need a 4 pole male to 3 pole or 2 pole female 3.5mm audio adapter in order for your parrot mic to work as intended. Check out the poles on your parrot and the JY stock external mic in order to verify the correct adapter to order. I'm fairly sure your JY's 4 pole. You can find the adapters on ebay etc..
Best to all,

Joying tech support confirmed that plugging in a mic mutes the internal mic. Also it requires a 4 pole mic. I just used the included mic and everything is good.

2.5 headset
I have an o2 XDA Atom Exec and got an o2 in-ear stereo headset with it.
That headset is now faulty, one side no longer works and i cant determine where the problem is.
Anyways, i want an in-ear headphones to use with the pda mainly to listen to audio rather than to make calls.
I tried connecting it with 3.5mm headphones with an adapter but with any movement of the adapter, the pda would automatically stop the audio and load dial the first number on the dialed list. Its very annoying.
I tried both the small stick type adapter and the wire adapter with the same result.
So now i'm after an in-ear stereo 2.5mm headset or a solution to stop it from going to the phone mode.
Any help ?
Thanks
is it work fine be4?
perhaps There is some short circuit in your headphone itself or maybe in jack port. trying use another headphone to identify the problem
oftenly headphone for mobile has 4 intersection in its jack. and common music headphone only have 3 intersection, I think use the 3 intersection jack should be fine
you can use the nokia 2.5mm headsets. they are like the OEM ones but they sound better. they both use the 3 ring jack, instead of the more standard 2 ring jack.
Hi!
I have this for some time: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938811&pf_rd_i=507846
(Actually, I baught it in a store so I'm not sure it's excatly the same but it looks the same)
Recently, I baught this one:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Headphone-HTC-VIVA-exclusive-Duragadget/dp/B001LIM8F0/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_2
When I plug the old one in my HTC Touch Cruise and then stereo headphones, to it's 3.5mm jack (without microphone), I can use phone's mic and plugged headphones to talk.
When I do the same with new one I can't use phone's mic. I can hear the other side through headphones but I can't be heard.
What might be a reason for this?
And can I fix this problem somehow so I don't have to unplug headphones each time I want to talk if I'm listening to the music?
Thank you very much in advance!
P.S. FM Radio works with both adapters.
there is no std for 3.5mm mini-jack with mic included
the org spc is only audio out
some headset makers add another ring which don't interfere with the
left, right and ground connectors
but there is no std they can follow
thumb rule is if mic is not mentioned in relation with the 3.5mm adaptor
mic is not supported as they use the pure audio out mini-jack std
thumb rule 2 is if mic is mentioned but it's not the same manufactures
in both end they may not implement mic in 3.5mm the same way and it will
only work with audio out
Thank you for your quick answer but I'm not sure you understood me.
I do not use external mic.
In first case I use 3in1 adapter and my stereo headphone with 3.5mm connector without microphone.
In second case I use this simple in-line adapter and same headphones.
In first case, during call, I can hear the other side through headphones, and the other side hears me through built-in-phone microphone.
In second case, during call, I can hear the other side through headphones, but other side can't hear me.
In both cases FM radio works well. I mention this because I saw that mic and FM antenna are on the same pin in USBext (if that's important since I don't use external mic)
about fm then all it needs is an antenna connected to to it
any stereo maybe even mono connected with a wire will do
heck you can cut off the airplugs from a cable and use it for fm
normaly when one connects a headset speaker and mic on the device itself
are muted
even if it's a headset without mic so cool that your fist case works at all
This first one adapter is original HTC. It has 2.5mm, 3.5mm, USBext for data and charging and USBext for headset connectors. And unfortunately it is too big for any other use except in car (to connect to car's audio aux input) or at home (to connect to home AV reciever).
So I baught this cheap simple in-line adapter. And it is suprisingly well built. And it works great as stereo adapter. Only problem is that it turns of microphone.
Anyhow I did some additional testing.
I tried SE Xperia X1 since it has built in 3.5mm connector. and it works like this first one. That means microphone works.
I also tried plugging this first adapter into my touch cruise and then plugging this second adapter into it's USBext for headset. The result is the same as if I plug second adapter directly into touch cruise. Microphone doesn't work.
Interesting thing is that in all cases (including Xperia) when I listen to the music with external headphones soudn comes only out of them. But when phone starts ringing sound comes from both headphones and from built-in-phone external speaker.
!!! Maybe the most important thing is that microphone doesn't work even if only second adapter is plugged into the phone, without headphones plugged in it.
Obviously this second non-HTC adapter doesn't work as HTC originally planned that kind of adapter to work and now I need a way to fix this.
It seems to me that this adapter is maybe stereo adapter with mic, but I don't have that kind of headset to try it. And if I had it I'm not sure it would be the right one since there's no standard for them.
As I see it when I plug in adapter phone somehow detects it and changes some registry key which mutes microphone.
Does anybody know what to change in registry so that phone doesn't mute microphone?
Or how can I see what changes in registry when I plug in the adapter?
Do you think if I manage to fix this, will that affect bluetooth headset also?
Thank you very much for any help!
Do the 3 in 1 adaptors like http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=171013 and http://www.inkino.co.uk/zen/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=126&products_id=1502 pass through the FM antenna?
I.e. would they allow me to charge via the USB connection and attach the extUSB headphones or the extUSB to 3.5mm adaptor cable for the FM aerial?
Is there a cable that is purely for aerial use and doesn't disable/route the audio?
Thanks.
Alternatively, is there a similar multi adaptor but on the end of a 90cm or so long cable that already has a long enough run for the FM aerial so no additional connection is required purely for FM reception...?

I've ordered an FM aerial...only if it works shall I give you the ebay link.
Please tell me which radio stations you want to listen to.
I have two adapters for my polaris.
The first one is 3in1 original HTC.
Second one is some cheap pigtail just htcExt to 3.5mm.
FM radio works well with both of them.
only difference is that with 3in1 I can use my headphones (without mic) and built in phone mic for talking.
with pigtail I can't so I have to unplug phones for the other side to be able to hear me.
But that's a whole other story. FM works

With pigtail I only have to plug it in and FM works. of course that little piece of wire is not that good antenna so it's better when headphones are plugged in.
But yes, FM works with just pigtail adapter plugged in, without headphones.
With 3in1 adapter I don't know and it is in my car so I can't check it now.
Hi all,
Would it be possible to connect my TP2 to the aux 3.5mm jack on my car radio to effectively play music off my phone via the radio system?
I suppose once off a mini usb to mail 3.5mm jack cable would be required, but would this output work?
Anyone tried this?
This will work. There are loads of adaptors out there that plug into the miniUSB and give you miniUSB (for charging), headset port and 3.5mm jack. Or various combinations of these.
Just couple one of those with a regular jack-to-jack lead and you're good to go.
Alternatively, pair a bluetooth stereo clip that has a jack connector for your own headphones, then connect that headphone port to the car stereo.
Did it a few time, I can confirm you it works just fine.
I was using one of Brando regular adaptators that plug into the miniUSB.
My wife and I have done this with our kaisers and now the tilt 2's. Our tilt 2's came with the htc adapters in the box from att. If you didnt get one of these, you can get an adapter off ebay pretty cheap.
Use an FM transmitter
I use an FM transmitter (Belkin and others make these) that is powered from the vehicle "cigarette lighter". On one end is the power and on the other end is a 3.5 mm headphone plug, just like a standard pair of headphones uses.
Connect that to the headphone jack on the TP2 (via the adapter if you don't have the CDMA version), and tune your car radio to the selected frequency.
It's a very nice solution for GPS or long speakerphone calls where you don't have to say much or even speak at all. You can have a 2-way call like this, too, of course.

I also use the HTC adapter that was included with the Tilt2. It provides a 3.5mm audio jack, plus you can charge the phone at the same time by plugging a cigarette lighter to mini-USB charger to the HTC adapter.

You're just connecting the FM transmitter to your Tilt2 using a 3.5mm to mini-USB adapter, correct? You shouldn't need to adjust any setting on the phone. If headphones work with your phone, the FM transmitter should also.
You might need to scan around for an FM station that is not used, or even faintly receiving a radio station. Pick one that is just pure white noise.

headphone work ok , the transmitter work ok in my laptop and other phone .
So now that we've courageously broken free of the burdensome shackles of the 3.5mm jack I guess we got to make the move to bluetooth. Every adapter I see seems to have an inbuilt microphone and none of them make use of the inline mic that many headphones come with does anyone know of any adapter that doesn't need to be dug out of a pocket to reply to a call?
PS: before anyone mentions the Sound Blaster E3 yes it has a mic input but only if you split the jack into separate mic/earphone jacks and only when connected to a pc via USB. I've asked elsewhere and this has come up once or twice.

I am confused. What do you need an adapter for Bluetooth? Can you show an example?

Ah ok that explains a lot. The way I was picturing in my head confused me lol.
I have not seen any of those that have inline mics with a single 3.5mm.

There are good number of bluetooth headsets with mics that you get for the same or less than the price of those. Or if you have a set of wired headsets that you're really attached too, why not just use the USB-C ->3.5mm that will be included in the box?
