Help Unbricking S3 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I have bricked my S3 before and have successfully unbricked it. This time is very much unlike the last, however. To start with, I don't know what caused the brick. My S3 has been working perfectly on rooted stock firmware for several months. The day it bricked, I was using it normally and hit the power button for it to go to sleep. 3 hours later I noticed I hadn't heard any notifications and I found that my phone wasn't turning on. So for starters, I don't even know what caused my phone to become bricked.
Anywho, I located the unbrick img, booted into Linux, and flashed the image to an SD card. Popped that into the S3 and....nothing. After some searching I found there was a specific unbrick img for the new bootloader that came with the KK updates. After flashing that image to the SD and popping it in the S3 I was greeted with the "Boot Recovery Mode" which appears to transfer to Odin Mode just fine.
I open Odin 3.07 and tried flashing the factory reset tar for NJ2 and I get this:
Code:
<ID:0/005> Odin v.3 engine (ID:5)..
<ID:0/005> File analysis..
<ID:0/005> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/005> Initialzation..
<ID:0/005> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/005>
<ID:0/005> There is no PIT partition.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
So I found 2 different PIT files for my Sprint Galaxy S3 16GB. Both give me this error:
Code:
<ID:0/005> Odin v.3 engine (ID:5)..
<ID:0/005> File analysis..
<ID:0/005> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/005> Initialzation..
<ID:0/005> Set PIT file..
<ID:0/005> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!
<ID:0/005> FAIL!
<ID:0/005>
<ID:0/005> Re-Partition operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
I tried this in Odin 3.09 and even 1.85 just to see if any of that would magically work. Nope. I saw several users report that rebooting the phone/PC would get the PIT to flash but nothing on that front either. So I'm guessing that means the PIT files are bad but I find that a little difficult to believe. I also noticed that Odin 1.85 reports the device as "Android+SLP" and not an S3. I also read about the S3 having a problem with its eMMC and that it would need to be shipped away for motherboard surgery. So I'm prepared to call the time of death on this phone but I figured I would give one last ditch attempt by presenting my situation to the genius collective of XDA. Any suggestions?

I don't know what to do anymore :-( I'm at a loss. I've read all the posts; I've read all the tricks; and nada. I can't even access the recovery module in my phone. The only thing I can access is the download screen (1 + power button). The (volume down + camera + power button) stopped working. All I get when I press the power button is the Samsung Logo and that's it. I've changed usb ports, I've restarted the computer and phone, I've tried using different odin versions and in different windows settings (ie XP SP 2, Admin etc).
Is there anyone out there who can help me save a $100 bucks?
Thanks

FYI: I use to have the Viperrom Trinity v3.0.3 and even the ViperROM [TRiNiTY v2.0] EXT4-RFS Dual DK28 4.0.4 at one point. <sigh>
This is a question, so it should go int the q&a section, not development.
As long as you can get into download mode you should still be able to recover the phone.
I think there's an official sprint updater somewhere you can try using instead of ODIN that might help...
You might try a different computer. Install the Galaxy S drivers, and use Odin there...
Moved to Q&A.
I would try Odin'ing to EB13 prerooted with CWM3 so you can put on any ROM after that from the link here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853209
Use the second one down for CWM3.

im stuck on download mode

Just came across your thread.
Thanks for posting your solution.
Yes, the usb cord can be, and is often the culprit.
No doubt reading this thread will help others that find themselves in a similar situation

[Q] SGH-T889 No Recovery Odin Mode Only, can't get new ROM to flash.

Hello, I'm a Noob to phone recovery and I think I've bitten off more than I can chew.
So I usually use a T mobile Galaxy S II but I wanted to upgrade to a Note II. My Flash -addicted friend gave me one that he believed he had "Bricked" beyond repair, but after reading around the forums I found that where there is Odin there is a way, I said I would try to recover it.
Well I'm not getting anywhere:crying: . on the Note II it shows:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME:
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
And on Odin 3.7 I keep getting:
<ID:0/005> Added!!
<ID:0/005> Odin v.3 engine (ID:5)..
<ID:0/005> File analysis..
<ID:0/005> SetupConnection..

<ID:0/005>

<ID:0/005> File analysis..
<ID:0/005> SetupConnection..

and it hung there for the better par of the day.
I have a pit file I got from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2071403 and I have used multiple roms. I have tried clicking and unclicking re partition. I Have only Odin Mode, no recovery, and when I boot it on, it does not move pass the Samsung Galaxy Note II screen; no Android,no anything. I am also working on a Windows 7 Home Edition Laptop. I have a totally unrooted , straight from T mo Galaxy 2 that works perfectly at hand I can use to "copy" (It's my roommates) but I just needs some direction as to how.
Again , I am new to this and I apologize if this is a duplication. If there are answers in other forums, please link them here for me please. Thanks for all the time and direction in advance!

[Q] Galaxy note 2 n7100 oden error Re-Partition operation failed

I was trying to recover my Samsung Galaxy note 2 from soft brick status. so I tried to install new CWM recovery mode. it looks like something happened in the middle of the installation and now I started to get pit related errors in oden and the screen turned blank white when turning ON my phone.
I read in some places that I need to use new pit file to re-partition my phone. however I tried to download countless pit files from the net but none of them worked even the one I found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31801134&postcount=4
I'm getting the same error as oden log below:

Samsung T320 Bootloop / ODIN Help

Hope someone can assist here, feel like I have tried everything, and cannot get the issue resolved. Have spent 10+ hours, but many of the resources are outdated, or the links are no longer valid for downloads - understandable since a 6 year old device.
Took out my T320 after a while, and figured I would use it, turns out still on KitKat, so not much you can do with it. Figured I'd root, then flash Colt or Lineage on the Tab Pro.
Root was successful, TWRP recovery was successful as well, but then the flash was not working and caused a bootloop issue. Long story short, I am only able to get into Download mode, and unable to flash the stock US firmware, because I cannot find a working link anywhere.
ODIN allows me to flash BL, but get the error below when I select a tar to flash in the AP. Hope someone knows what the export below could point to as to why I cannot flash Lineage or Colt.
First part is for the BL - which is successful, second one is the ROM, which is a fail.
Nutshell -
Bootloop but able to get into Download mode
Cannot access Recovery
Kies does not recognize but ODIN does

@xcobrax81 as you don't have the firmware yet try samfirm_reborn tool.
Search for it, doesn't have to be installed.
I guess you can take the canadian version, but I'm not sure as I live in Europe.
Get rid of Kies IMO it causes to much problems, just use Samsungs USB device drivers instead. That's what I do and it works fine.
Don't understand which ROM you were trying to flash with Odin as you said you don't have stock firmware.
Any custom ROM can only be flashed via TWRP.
Btw, which one did you try?
On my T325 I use 3.4.0-0.

Thanks for the guidance, I'll try that this week. Tried Colt and Lucid (the top 2 I found on this forum)
But I think it's more me than any issues with the ROMs
