Need help fixing 5x with glitching screen - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What happened is that i opened an app and then the phone went to sleep, when I unlocked it the screen started to glitch and appear to pressing on the screen for itself. I tried pressing the home button but it was lagging and nothing really happened so I held down the power button and reset the phone. When the phone booted back up and I had to enter my screen lock, I noticed that it wasn't corresponding with where I was pressing, also I pressed on the screen with a quick touch, it appeared that multiple touches registered all over the screen. Since I couldn't get past the screen lock, I turned off the phone, went into Recovery and factory reset the phone. Even after the factory reset, the problem persists so I can't even go through the setup wizard. The phone is completely stock by the way, is there any way to fix this? Or am I going to have to send it back?

My first issue is that my keyboard stops functioning when i type. i have to go to the menu and reactivate the QWERTY. the QWERTY is already bubbled i just have to pick it again. Its weird my girlfriends phone has the same problem.
also sometimes when i create a new text my phone turns off i have to take out the battery for it to turn on again.
any solutions?
also it randomly switches to another app that i didnt even open... and it loads super slow any ideas?
Hard Reset!
Try to hard reset your phone...although you did not write what ROM you are using?!
I am using stock 6.5 and have never had any problems whatsoever.
my phone is completely stock. what do you mean by hard reset? the reset button under the battery cover? wont that reset everything and delete everything?
The reset button under the battery cover is just for a soft reset (like restarting your computer, it turns off and then turns back on by itself) and you don't loose any information. To hard reset, you need to turn the phone off then hit the call button, end button, and the power button all at the same time. This will erase everything an put it back to the out-of-the-box state. Your user manual will probably better explain since mine is from recent memory.
any other ideas why this might be happening?

Help with resetting a phone to factory settings

So I have a Droid incredible 2 that had been dropped in water. It got completely dried out for a couple of days and it was working ok except that sometimes the screen would just shut off randomly. I would hit the power button a couple of times and the screen would come back on and it would work fine again. I got a new phone to replace it anyway. I shut it off, took out the battery, sd card and sim card to put into the new phone. I then turned it back on, and it seemed to boot ok, but once it was completely booted up, the screen was blank. If I hit the power button to wake it up, the screen would turn on for about 1 second and then shut off. Never any longer. I don't need to get the phone back to working condition, I just need to put it back to factory settings. I was planning on selling it on ebay and would like to eliminate any personal info that is on there first. Any way I can do this? The phone is not rooted. Not unlocked, does not have a ROM or any modifications on it. Exactly stock. Please let me know if there is anything I can do. Thanks.
if you hold volume down and power does it load into the boot loader screen? If so you can just select factory reset.

[Q] Bricked help/ideas

In short, the phone is stuck in a bootloop unlike any I've read about before. All on its own, it constantly makes the bootup vibration pattern but it does not boot up. The screen does not light up, it is completely black (backlight is off as well). It is sitting on my desk doing the vibrate patter (bzzz-bz). Then 40 seconds later, again, (bzzz-bz).
If I could see the screen, I imagine it is going past the 1st Asus Logo screen, then trying to load the OS (2nd Asus Logo), but crashing and restarting.
This happened after I flashed fastboot (droidboot), recovery, and boot. All flashed successfully, so I went into Recovery and started to "wipe cache". It was taking too long so I thought it froze and forced a restart. After that, I never saw the screen light up again.
Any ideas as to what is going on? The phone has no damage (at least physically ).
Yes, wiping cache takes a long time you have to wait it out, forcing reboot before it finishes will result in bootlooped, that is covered in many many threads, you will need to reflash entire Rom from bootloader.
Problem is, I cannot get into bootloader. Its still doing the vibrate cycle I described, it's been 8 hours already.
Try holding the power button and volume up toll you get 2 vibrates then release power, if that does not help it sounds like your power button is stuck in depressed mode
Stuck in depressed mode? But I am able to press it, and I hear it click, and click back up. The "spring" seems to be working fine.

Problem with notification bar pullong down randomly

Hey there
Had the phone since release
Started with this problem yesterday. It's random, the notification bar pulls down and pulls back up within a second. Sometimes it doesn't release, I have to press power button to enable me to use the phone.
I switched on "show taps" in developer options, and it appears to be a screen press from the top centre of the phone. Only from there.
I've tried replacing the screen protector, tried cleaning the phone, power cycles... I've not tried a factory reset at this point, would need to back everything up.
On 8.1
I'm at my wits end
Thanks in advance
Do you have a case installed? Sometimes phone cases trigger phantom touches on the display.
I do, since day one.
Took it off and still get same problem
I'd use a screen capture app to show the phantom touches that's keeping you from releasing the notification bar and contact Support at this point. But yeah, you should begin backing up your data.
try to use the developer menu -> show touches and see if it's software or hardware related
....actually i have been getting random, backspaces key presses.....i am typing away, and than I will sense the "phantom" key press the backspace, and look as my message get completely deleted. Never happened before, same case/same screen protector from DAY1....I just restart my phone, but still wear. happened twice since OREO update
Boot into safe mode and then turn off and start up.
Fixed my menu bar issues.

Tab S4 WiFi - Screen not turning back on after timeout. Tablet still running.

Basically most of the post in the title.
I've been playing around, got it rooted with WETA, installed Kali, went back to Stock. In both Kali and now Stock, if the screen times out, or if I hit the power button to lock the screen, it will not come back up and only a hard reboot will get it back.
Same here. I’m rooted but stock rom. Been rooted for a while but this problem only started within last few days. Same exact issue. Booted into safe mode and problem still exists: if screen gets turned off or times out, can not get it to turn back on without hard reset.
I just factory reset mine. I use it for work so I wanted to see if I could reset and restore. During the setup process when it asked for the wifi password I went to the other office to get it and by the time I came back, the screen had timed out and would not come back on still. So, tells me it is not an app and is likely a hardware issue.
Edit: Well, now it seems to be working. I let it sit and restore for a while. Tried to turn the screen on and it took a bit longer than normal but it came on. So far it does not turn the screen on with a screen tap like it used to but it will turn on with a little delay after pressing the power button...
Update on my update: Tablet still has times where pushing the power button or tapping the screen does not turn it on. I basically have to make the motions as if I am opening the magnet case up and the screen will turn on. So, not all the way fixed...
