Without the history of what was done to this phone previously, it is hard to solve your issues. But....try flashing Unikernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s6/development/kernel-unikernel-v5-t3166295) and see if that fixes it.
All the previous times that I have seen someone have this reversal, it was because they had flashed a ROM for a different phone model.

Help with Odin/Download Mode

Okay so I got this phone today and I went straight to the mskip toolkit for the Note 2. I have the S3 toolkit as well.
The thing is when I try to root the phone Odin will come up but the first box under ID:COM does not turn blue or do anything at all.
When I first did this I had to download a preloader driver. It was MT65xx.
Okay so I got that but still no actual connection to Odin. So my other problem is that when I hold vol- home power it doesn't go to download mode, instead the android logo pops up but then falls over with a red exclamation mark warning sign with an open panel. Looks like a generic error message pop up. So I can't get past this. What do I do? I read that it may be an imitation phone if this doesn't work so is this the case?
This may not affect anything but when I first got it and rebooted the phone the Samsung logo booted as the animation, after I reset it it changed to the android word. I don't know if that means anything but this is the problem I am having.
Samsung Note II: GT-N7100
Ver. 4.1.1
Baseband Ver: MAUI.11AMD.W12.22.SP.V7.P3
Kernel: 3.0.13
1217 V41
Build: ALPS.ICS.MP.V1.3
Custom build version: 1366963977
Odin3 v3.07
That's as best info as I can give thanks in advance.
Okay well after digging I figured yeah it's a knock off. I'm pissed but whatever now it's time to roll with it.
My next issue is that I can't get to anything but the default recovery. I have tried flashing different imgs or attempting to but nothing.
I tried buying Mobile ODIN and it gave me the "Unexpected partition layout" message.
I also tried using fastboot but and tried the terminal emulator for the phone to flash the recovery that way and when I go into recovery it does as I explained before. Spins a little then falls over and goes into default recovery.
I rooted using Root with Restore by Bin4ry v18.
I'm still new to this and trying to figure out what else I can do. I downloaded rom mannager apk and it say the GTn7100 isn't supported. I'm not sure what else to do. If anyone can shed some insight.
I'm gonna keep the phone for now and I want to flash the alliance rom onto it if possible. Thanks again
Well you can close this thread mods. No one is going to help and that's fine. Found a solution to my problem. Getting a different phone.

You need to have installed drivers from kies or samsung drivers to your pc in order for odin to recognise and communicate with your device. You also need to be a little patient I notice you only posted this thread yesterday and already your complaining.
GT N7105 with XDA Premium......that is all......

Sorry if I seem impatient or as a complainer. I'm usually calmer. Anyway I had already performed said steps to no avail. I had already been up all night trying different methods to no help. I already got a new phone from T-Mobile today. Maybe I made the right choice or maybe not. It's alright. I'm satisfied in the end.
Thanks for your attempt though. Appreciated.

[Q] Upgraded to I747UCUEMJB, now phone won't boot

Hey guys,
So I have an i747 that I flashed the latest I747UCUEMJB zip through CWM, and it flashed the bootloader + modem fine, but now it won't boot - just a black screen.
Windows seems to detect something, as I can hear it making the device plugged in noise, but I'm not getting anything on the screen.
Is it bricked? It's not a huge deal, but I'd like to fix it if I can...
Have you tried pulling the battery and then reinserting it back into the phone?
Are you able to boot into recovery?

Unfortunately not..can't boot in to anything. The only thing I can get, is a red light if I pull the battery and plug it in to USB.

I'm curious on what caused this issue. Are you able to get a flashlight and see if you are able to see anything? If you can see something but it's very dim, this is a sign your phone is perfectly fine.
It's either a hardware issue, a screen issue, or something in the OS you flashed. Does Odin recognize the device?
Which I747 do you have, your profile shows Rogers (Canada), yet you say you flashed the MJB bootloader which is AT&T (US variant of I747). If you have the Canadian S3 and you flashed the US S3 bootloader, you may not be able to correct if you cannot get into download mode.
Your non-rebooting issue happened a while ago, but I'm experiencing the exact same circumstances after flashing an AIO modem to my US Sprint S3.
Were you able to ever salvage your S3? If so, how?
Do you have a i747 or i747m? As far as I know, the bootloaders between the various s3 models are not interchangeable.

Kindly help me guys

Warm greetings to you all friends,
So far one week ago i bought a Samsung galaxy S3 i9300 SGH-1747 (AT&T Vietnam) from my big friend. As you know on smartphones you need to reset if you are a new user. I made a factory data reset by pressing all the buttons procedure. I wiped the phone and it rebooted. But since i reseted the phone, It started switching off its self after like every 4 minutes it sets off. It showed me this message “The device has detected an application attempting to perform actions that are not permitted, Reboot now or reboot later" even if press restart nothing changes it brings it back again. So my friend requested me that he can fix that by changing the rom.
After he has erased the phone, and connects it to odin if failed to upgrade, immediately after pressing start it fails. He has downloaded almost the roms of it type but again they fail in odin software. It cannot connect to kies software. Now it just blinks "Samsung" logo on the screen after a second and it goes off. Please kindly advise me, what can we do? I love that phone because there very expensive here. Help me please what can we do?

Hello, and thank you for using XDA Assist!
You may need a download mode jig at this point.
At any rate, I am connecting this thread to the forum your device experts can be found:
> AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III > AT&T Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Please note, in order to respond to replies, you will need to register for an XDA account.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

The i9300 and the i747 are different phones and any ROM or custom recovery suitable for one could hardbrick the other.
Could you power off the device, remove the back cover, and then check under the battery to verify the model?
I checked it and the model is that one.

The i747 makes things a bit more limited in things we could do to correct this. The last full official ROM released by AT&T was the 4.1.1 release. If your phone had a newer bootloader and modem on it than that for 4.1.1 or the 4.1.2 partial release, then the 4.1.1 release is not safe for you to use.
Do you know, or can you get, information about what it was your friend tried to flash?
Can he tell you what bootloader and modem were on your phone before he flashed anything?
Boot into download mode (Odin mode) and report back with all of the small text at the top of the screen. If there is a line about "warranty bit" that would indicate you to be on at least the 4.3 bootloader.
I expect the solution will using a debrick image on an external sdcard, booting from it,, swapping cards, determining the correct bootloader and modem, flashing them, flashing a custom recovery, and finally flashing a rom. Here is a thread about using a debrick image, it has links to where he obtained his info.

A strange problem while installing custom ROM

I have a SM T210.
I had some custom roms installed on it. First SEAL and Later Infamous. I had Infamous for past 2 years. Now i am trying to get Kitkat on the tab. The problem is i cannot install any new OS. When i do nothing happens. I means i see the Logo Galaxy tab 3 after that nothing. I can make out that the tab is running but there is nothing on the screen. Its just dimly lit. I cannot even see the logo that has samsung written and a light revolving around it. When i press power button dim light should go off but it does not. First i thought maybe the rom is installing or doing something lets wait for a while. I waited for 3 hours, still nothing. I have tried several OSs. Including TranChidaKat and NoleKat. Same Problem with all of them. When i move back to Infamous it works. I dont see the Samsung logo with the light revolving around but i hear the samsung sound. When i press power button the dim light goes off and when i press the button again i can see the screen. TWRP 2.8.7.0 has been successfully installed using Odin and is working. The commands take a while to respond but it works. I have successfully installed several OSs in the past so i think i know how and i follow all the steps given in the ROM instruction carefully but am i missing something ?
Any insight will be highly appreciated.

If you haven't upgraded the firmware to the KitKat version, then you should do that first.
Go to sammobile.com and click on the firmware link, then download the latest version for your region. Use Odin to flash it. Then you can reinstall your custom recovery and whatever rom you want.
(Yes, it will take a while to download.)

lg g3 screen unresponsive after touch firmware upgrade

I have a lg g3 d855, after going to the service menu and attempting a touch screen firmware upgrade my phone got stuck and now my touch screen is dead. I tried several solutions, flashing .kdz through lg flash tool, upgrading my firmware through lg mobile support tool etc. I am 100% sure it is not a hardware issue, since the touch screen was working before this. How can I get the service menu to the default settings or something like that. PLEASE share any advice about this issue.
Thank you
an update
For the last two days I tried everything I can, so I'll try to explain every move I made. First of all, I tried every version from kitkat to lollipop, even I flashed the marshmallow update, but no success. ATM I am on lollipop stock rom, with root and TWRP recovery. I am using my mouse through usb adapter to navigate with the phone. I rooted my phone with kingroot app.
- The touch screen firmware version on my phone is -1, that was the case even before my screen got unresponsive, I can't figure it out how is this possible. I tried doing the same thing, updating the touch screen firmware but nothing happens when I click update through the service menu.
- I opened the back of the phone, reconnected the screen with the motherboard and turned on the phone - but no success. The situation remains the same. unresponsive screen.
So I am kindly asking for any advice or idea you have about my problem, how can I get my phone to work properly?
Does someone know where can I find a working touchscreen firmware for LG G3 D855? Is it possible to push the firmware to my phone using adb sideload or twrp?
At last, can a screen replacement solve this issue? I am 100% sure that this is not a hardware problem, all I need is to push a touch screen firmware on my phone.
Please help xda members!

No luck, I tried all above mentioned and I am nearly given up from finding any solution by myself. If you somehow find some touch screen firmware on the internet or any possible solution about this problem, please send me a message or write a reply here. On Monday I am taking my phone to a mobile service, I hope that they can find what's the problem without changing my screen or motherboard...
Hmm, can you go to the service menu again and Hw test or something like that and see if it works? Something on the hidden menu must work..
My g3 is in a rough state too, best of luck for you mate.

I can access the service menu with my mouse, but my screen stays unresponsive after clicking on the update touch screen firmware option. :crying: The touch screen firmware version is: -1, clearly something is wrong with it. Don't know what else can I do in the secret service menu, my brother g3 went just fine updating the touch screen firmware... Running test does not solve the problem.
I think that some professional service can repair it with connecting on a special equipment and resetting the chipset and screen firmware ( similar to pc bios with programator).
Maybe it is possible to do it on a pc with adb , pushing through sideload the firmware of the touch screen, but I can't find any touch screen firmware for lg g3 d855

hm, I don't know the specific name for the file needed, I can't find any touch firmware for lg g3 d855. Do you have any suggestion how can I do it? Is it possible to somehow pull the touch screen firmware version file from other g3?
I read on some websites about galaxy devices that were fixed with updating the Linux kernel to call the driver function that updates the firmware. I tried changing two kernels for stock rom on my g3, the situation remains the same.

If i was you, I'd get in touch with some kernel developer from the G3 or from those galaxy phones and try to explain your situation and kindly ask them if they could mod a stock kernel in order to force update firmware and test if it'd work.

I got my g3 back from the mobile service, with zero results. The touch screen cannot be fixed with flashing the software, they recommended changing the whole screen. The price is around 100 euros, a big sum compared to the phone price. I asked them to give me more time to think about, so I can make the right decision. I plan to take the phone to another mobile service for a second opinion.
The thing that bothers me the most is how can a touch screen firmware update destroy the functionality of the whole touch screen with one click.
Any advice is appreciated.

Hello, I've been having a similar issue to yours, only my entire screen stopped responding to input. I have noticed that the screen responds if I press harder (almost to the point that the screen starts discoloring), but even then it is unreliable. My phone is the LG G3 D855, and I am currently using Euphoria ROM and TWRP. The screen doesn't respond in TWRP either. I would also like to point out that I have not accessed the Hidden Menu since I bought my G3.
Do you have any advice for me? Any help at all would be appreciated.

I got your Messages, But what you explain about firmware is very strange.. My kernel it self uses the G4 touchscreen firmware.. The firmware is located in kernel/firmware/synaptics/g3 ..
also the phone it self has the blobs aks libs that also communicate with touchscreen.. when you said you tried everything.. I dont see how reverting to stock though kdz destroyed your phones touch screen.
pressing one simple button, I just dont see it... your root method was something I would never use.. but do you have access though twrp ? does it work then or still nothing?
Are you sure you went into download mode and flashed a fresh kdz? Download that app from the playstore that test touchscreen. and see if any reading are happening..
I used that app when I used the g4's touchscreen firmware.......... But everything works great for me....
msg me on hangouts if you need anymore input.. but as what I read.. it doesnt seem like a firmware issue. whatever you did effected the hardware totally............

Thanks for the reply, I'll try to explain the situation again as best as I can.
The phone worked without any problem on stock lollipop rom 5.0.2 and everything was fine after rooting, flashing TWRP recovery and installing Cloudy 2.5 with Xceed rom. The screen was responsive, just I noticed that after a phone call I can't hang up. I read on xda and other sites that Updating touch firmware might solve the issue, so I went to the secret service menu/ HW Test and I tried to update the touch firmware. After one simple click on the update button, everything went downhill. I tried several things, I am not an expert in this but surely not a noob at android mobile phones and flashing. This is my second LG phone, till September I had G2. Now I use my mouse through micro usb/ usb adapter to navigate.
A list of all the things I've tried:
- Going back to stock with flashing .tot and .dll file
- going back to stock with flashing stock .kdz file with lg flash tool 2014
- flashing different stock roms kitkat/lollipop/marshmallow
- Again rooting my phone and flashing TWRP recovery
- Flashed Blisspop custom rom
-Opened the back of the phone, reconnecting the whole touch screen with Phone on and off
No result!
The touch screen firmware version doesn't change at all. It says:
Touch Firmware Version:
-1
Read fail touch IC info
I don't know what the hell "Read fail touch IC info" means and is is possible somehow to be fixed?
I am nearly given up on the issue, but this can be helpful for other g3 users with the same issue.
Thanks to everyone

The assertion that you are 100% sure it isn't a hardware issue is ridiculous. Now that that is out of the way why did you upgrade touch screen firmware? You also aren't very specific saying you tried to install touch screen firmware and then my phone got isn't very specific. I also don't understand the question about default settings doesn't the kdz include all firmware? if you already flashed the stock kdz and its not fixed you might be out of luck, maybe ask someone who knows alot about jtaging or something but i don't even know if that is possible for a touch screen. if you already hard reset the phone or flashed stock kdz's then maybe try upgrading the firmware again, if it is a bad firmware flash and for some reason the kdz didn't reinstall it why not try to upgrade it again hoping it is successful this time?. tip don't multitask or let your phone fall asleep during any kind of firmware upgrading from the android system (meaning if you aren't flashing from a custom recovery like twrp or clockworkmod.)
( you might have to use a usb adapter and a mouse to perform these tasks if your digitizer isn't working (ie touchscreen))
