Hey guys,
So I have an i747 that I flashed the latest I747UCUEMJB zip through CWM, and it flashed the bootloader + modem fine, but now it won't boot - just a black screen.
Windows seems to detect something, as I can hear it making the device plugged in noise, but I'm not getting anything on the screen.
Is it bricked? It's not a huge deal, but I'd like to fix it if I can...
Have you tried pulling the battery and then reinserting it back into the phone?
Are you able to boot into recovery?

Unfortunately not..can't boot in to anything. The only thing I can get, is a red light if I pull the battery and plug it in to USB.

I'm curious on what caused this issue. Are you able to get a flashlight and see if you are able to see anything? If you can see something but it's very dim, this is a sign your phone is perfectly fine.
It's either a hardware issue, a screen issue, or something in the OS you flashed. Does Odin recognize the device?
Which I747 do you have, your profile shows Rogers (Canada), yet you say you flashed the MJB bootloader which is AT&T (US variant of I747). If you have the Canadian S3 and you flashed the US S3 bootloader, you may not be able to correct if you cannot get into download mode.
Your non-rebooting issue happened a while ago, but I'm experiencing the exact same circumstances after flashing an AIO modem to my US Sprint S3.
Were you able to ever salvage your S3? If so, how?
Do you have a i747 or i747m? As far as I know, the bootloaders between the various s3 models are not interchangeable.

So I flashed the new KT Kernel on my GS3 running PapaSmurf's PAC-Man Nightly ROM and it bricked my phone. I'm stuck on the black screen and read up a little to find out that I need a usb jig?
My phone is also a little beat up, and replacing it would seem easier than waiting a week for a jig from ebay...
Would Sprint replace it either way, since its 1)Bricked and 2) can't show that I had a custom ROM?
They would just reflash it under Stock rom and just refurb it, correct?
Anyone have any experience in this, or care to show me some simple unbrick method that I may have missed?
Have you tried booting into either recovery or download mode?
Boot into Recovery Mode:
Power off phone (remove battery for a few seconds, replace)
Power on phone while holding up and the home button
Once you see the Samsung Logo, you can release the buttons
Boot into Download Mode:
Power off phone (remove battery for a few seconds, replace)
Power on phone while holding down and the home button
Once you see the Samsung Logo, you can release the buttons
If you really can't get into either one, then you're bricked.
A kernel would not brick a phone unless you flashed a kernel from another carrier.

Doubt it. I'm sure Sprint would be able to put two and two together. Besides if they are able to reflash it I don't think that would wipe the flash counter.

Was it a bad download? Did all md5sums check out? That's the only way the flash could've messed you up. Like edfunkycold said, other than a bad download, only flashing a zip not made for your phone / variant can even have the chance to brick your phone
Hey folks,
Been searching threads and cant seem to find the answer I'm looking for (or maybe want lol). Here's the scoop: I had an unlocked (originally wind) T999V brought to me, stuck in odin mode and then bootloop if taken out. It wouldn't odin, but I used the kies method (found here, with thanks) entered serial and voila! Kies d/l'd everything, flashed, and away it went. Worked for about 12 hours and then suddenly bootlooped again, and now will not do anything by way of power , charge, recognize). Yes the battery went dead and no, I can't get it to charge. Only life is red light if I plug in usb with battery out. I am assuming I installed the proper factory rom as Kies did require a serial and model to d/l the firmware. There is nothing else customed on this...no custom recovery, custom rom, root, etc. I can't even get it into odin mode. I have also tried a slightly modified nexus (samsung) battery (just for fit) and still no dice, that being with a full charge.
There you have the history, any ideas, suggestions, or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Have you looked at KAsp3rd's de-brick thread stickied in Development section?
Nope, but I am now! Thanks. I never really listed it as a "brick" because of the bootlooping, but i guess when I think about it, it really isn't anything else right now lol.
Thanks again and will update end result
Never rooted, ALL STOCK
Hi Guys,
I am having the same issue with my T-Mobile SGH-T999 S3. It randomly started rebooting while being charged but it was so random that I didn't think anything of it. Last night it rebooted not never came back up again. I've taken out the battery, key combo to bring up recovery, and nothing.
Since its my gf's phone I've never tried to root it or put a custom recovery on it. So its bone stock. There's no visible water damage and she says she hasn't dropped it.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
yup. if you cant boot download mode, read my post two up.
if that doesnt help, and you cant boot download mode, recovery, or system, it may be a hardware failure.

Doc, I still can't find a verified or test debrick for the "v" variant. I did see a "call to arms" post and a response around September but haven't found anything verified since. Is there a test image floating around somewhere? I have a t999v (wind - unlocked), Ubuntu ready to rock and a paperweight waiting to become a real phone again lol. Any thing you can point me at would be great. If its a test, I'm on it. If there's nothing, I may go grab a "broken screen" one if I can find one just to dump it!
Thanks in advance or any direction you can point....unless its down
unfortunately, if no one else eith a T999V is willing to get the image for you, you and all T999V owners are out of luck in a brick type situation.

Hey Guys,
I received an update on my unlocked AT&T note II sgh-i317 yesterday. It caused the phone to go blank. I flashed stock firmware UCAL which seem to go well but now the phone will not boot up . It just boots into white Samsung Note II logo. Any suggestions on what to do?. I already pulled battery and tried going into recovery mode and sI still keep getting the same thing.
Thanks
BootLoop due to OTA Update SGH I317
I received the same OTA update last night.
My phone was rooted but had stock Rom.
The update finished and now my phone is in a bootloop. The only option I have to power on the phone is by pulling battery, volume down/power/home. But even then, it will not allow me to fully power on.
I tried Kies software to install the update but was unsuccessful. I will also try unrooting.
Same thing happened to me. Rooted but otherwise stock GN2. Got the update, rebooted and it got stuck at the boot logo. I tried everything. Flashed CWM, then tried a couple different ROM's. Then went to TWRP recovery, and tried the Team Elektron ROM, that got a little farther, boot logo with sound, but it still hung. Tried a modem update, and even the bootloader - nothing worked.
Luckily I had just bought mine ($300 on Amazon right now) so I just sent it back as defective and ordered a new one. Gonna be real careful of the ATT update and maybe even skip it and go right to a custom ROM.

I tired clearing everything, tried flashing everything, nothing worked. When I flashed the Elektron ROM it got a little further, an animated logo with sound, but never fully booted. I then tried all their (Team Elektron) recommended fixes but nothing worked. Finally gave up and shipped it back to Amazon today.
Getting my new one tomorrow, going to root it and not accept any OTA updates and most likely flash a non-AT&T ROM.
I had the same problem and fix it UCUCNE5

I tried this approach. It didn't work for me. I downloaded the stock rom and flashed it with Odin. My screen is still froze on the logo, and my battery icon is grey as if it's not charging. I charge it now in a battery charger just to be sure it's charged. I can't afford to lose this phone. Can someone please assist.

What message did you receive when trying to flash? Did you flash the 4.4.2 ROM? What had you flashed beforehand
I'm not completely an expert but I've learned enough over the last 48 hours to fix my own phone.

Odin said the flash was complete and successful, but the phone still won't get passed the logo screen. There is no recovery with this 4.4.2 firmware. I can't do a system wipe without a recovery. I tried flashing a custom recovery but It's not working either. I need a way to flash a complete 4.4.2 stock with recovery.

I believe I am in the exact same boat. My note 2 had no modifications. Never tried to do anything to the phone in the way of new ROMs or rooting or anything. I picked up the phone and hit the home button the other night and the phone restarted, came up on the Samsung Galaxy Note II screen and stuck. Can't factory reset, same grey battery icon, can only power off by removing the battery, similar results when I try using Kies and Odin (assuming I am using them correctly). Will be following your thread and hoping someone can share some further advice...

So if you pull battery, then restart with the 3 button combo to get to recovery,
(Hold down Volume Up and Power button and Home button together) you should be able to factory reset from there.

Thanks for your reply.
I can get to the menu and select the reset option (although i get a slew of red error messages along the way) but when it reboots, im right stuck back at the samsung GNII splash screen.
Check my other thread for more details http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...reme-noob-gn2-mods-stuck-galaxy-note-t2941965 , if mine is a separate issue i dont want to hijack this thread.
I searched but seems like everyone else has a slightly different situation than I do and I don't want to screw my phone up any more.
I picked up a Galaxy S5 and wanted to give my Galaxy S3 to my mom.
(This next process happened almost a month ago, so I forgot many of the useful details, I'm really sorry about that)
I don't remember which ROM I was running, I'm fairly certain it was CM10 that hasn't been updated in almost a year. I ended up rebooting and flashing a stock rom that I had backed up on my computer. I flashed it and I got a weird message. The phone wouldn't boot to the ROM and kept going to the home screen. I tried a different stock ROM that I got online, got the same issue, so I tried another source's stock ROM. I got a weird error, phone shut down, and wouldn't power back up.
It would vibrate once when I held the power button, but it didn't do ANYTHING else. I tried doing the power+volume down trick, vibrated twice, did nothing more than that. I got fed up, took the battery out and the memory card, and let it sit in a drawer.
At this moment the only thing the phone does is a short vibration when I do either the power button or power button + volume down.
Today I decided to try to recover it and saw something about a USB Jig I can buy on eBay that may help.
Is this something that may work or is my phone permanently bricked? If the Jig does work, where should I get the stock ROM for this phone, and if it matters, how do I know which stock ROM to install?
It's an AT&T Galaxy S3 16gb model.
here is a thread for stock ROMs.
do you know your bootloader and baseband version?

I don't know any of that.
Also what's the difference between MJ2, LK3, LG1, and LEM?
Sounds like you flashed an incorrect ROM and/or bootloader onto your phone.
The bootloader is important because if you have the mjb and newer bootloader, flashing an older bootloader will brick the phone.

I can see me flashing the wrong rom, but is the bootloader attached to the rom package?
If the bootloader is ****ed, will the jig work for me or am I out of luck?
Where did you get the last ROM you flashed? Provide a link if you can.
Have a look at the debrick thread as it may be helpful if your phone can't get into download mode. The jig may or may not help but it's good to have one for Samsung phones.

I honestly have no clue, the only rom I could find in my downloads folder on my computer that I can't identify as a custom rom is "pac_d2lte", and I remember the d2lte part throwing me off even though thats what a few sites said to download.
The Jig worked, btw, I'm at the download screen with the phone plugged into my pc, should my PC be showing it as an external device? Cause it doesn't show it in "My Computer".
Can I just take an SGH-I747 rom off this page and flash it with ODIN?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33570269#post33570269
I would not flash any stock rom until you know the bootloader version on your phone.
Since you can get into download mode, flash philz touch recovery for the d2lte and flash a custom rom such as cm11 onto your phone to at least get it booted so you can confirm the bootloader and baseband.

I actually just did just that. It seemed to restore my phone to working condition. It seemed a little buggy during set up, but I don't know if it's because I was running it without a sim card or not. So far it looks like it's running just fine.
In other words, this is what I did (in case someone has the same problem and stumbles across this thread):
Purchased a Samsung Galaxy Jig from Amazon
Downloaded one of the LK3 ROMs from this thread
Downloaded Odin 307
Connected the Jig to my phone to allow it to boot to download mode
Once in download mode I unplugged the Jig and plugged the phone into my PC
I launched Odin and it found my phone right off the bat.
With the settings "Auto Reboot", "F. Reset Time", and "PDA" checked, I clicked on PDA and selected the ROM I just downloaded.
I clicked start, Odin did its magic, and my phone rebooted to the setup screen

First, what rom did you flash and how did you flash it?
Try this as well:
Pull the battery, press the power button for a few seconds. Put the battery back in and press the power button again. Pop the battery out a 2nd time and then put it back in. See if it turns on.
If that doesn't work, pull the battery and hook the phone up (without the battery) to a computer and again see if it turns on and shows up in device manager.
Flashing the wrong rom should only result in a non-booting situation. If you have a custom recovery installed, you should be able to still get into that. The d850 has some serious issues with successfully rebooting in general (which can be resolved by the two suggested procedures above), so I would suspect that before worrying about a brick.
Lastly, the d850 requires bumped ROMs to get by the locked bootloader. The d851 (T-Mobile version) does not have a locked bootloader, so the roms are not bumped and will of course fail to boot.
Once you get back into recovery, just wipe all partitions except for internal storage/sd card and install a correct rom.
