Hi.
As the MM 6.0 update is out i would like to try it but as i am not that much active since many months on m9 forum
Hence i need some assistance in updating.
I am using ATT S-on, bootloader unlocked, currently using a custom rom. What I plan to do is
1. S-off first.
2. change the cid to dev edition
3. Flash RUU.exe(through PC)
or
after s-off i flash just the firmware only ..then restore a backup ROM through twrp backup?
my doubt is do i need to be on stock recovery to flash an RUU ?
am i missing any step here?
Thank you
Once you S-Off
Change Cid to Developer Edition
Download the latest Developer Edition RUU. Exe or the RUU. zip which ever method is easier for you.
Then run/install the RUU to convert your AT&T M9 to Developer Edition.
You can leave the custom rom and TWRP Recovery installed as the RUU will over write it.
Once it's done then go to check for ota update should be 6.0 if you installed the latest RUU

Did it the same way with mine. I hat T-MOB101 CID, unlocked it. Performed s-off using sunshine. After this I changed CID to HTC__102 to flash stock 1.54.401.10 Ron an firmware, and finally flashed the 2.22.401.4 OTA via fastboot oem rebootRUU mode. Worked flawlessly!

Don't know if I'm allowed to post the link right here. Got it from a german forum. Search for "htc one m8 firmware sammlung" an pick the second hit. Should be the handy faq forum.
Ok i found the thread, the only question is what to do now
the ota updates are for 1.54 .xxx to 2.22.xxx
but i am on 1.70.111.1. so what to do here

when you s-off and supercid it doesn't matter any more you can flash 2.22.401.4 firmware and roms with no problems at all

I did it the following way: after obtaining s-off and changin the CID to WWE HTC__102 I flashed the 1.54.10 Rom with TWRP and after this the corresponding firmware. At last using fastboot oem rebootRUU I flashed the update "1.54.401.10 -> 2.22.401.4".
Hope it helps

Flashing the Rom you have to use a custom recovery e.g. TWRP. But if you flash the firmware the recovery will be overwritten by the stock recovery which you can't use to flash one of the backups which you need to install the 2.22.401.4 OTA later on.

soo i just did it
for anyone who is reading this thread, that's the way i did it:
coming from FW 1.70.111.1, Cid: T-Mob102, Unlocked Boatloader
- Installation TWRP
- Supersu.zip root
- Backup
- Transfered Rom to device
- tried firewater -> fail
- s-off with sunshine -> ok but 16€... no big deal, thanks to the team
- supercid
- flashed modded 2.22 FW (without red warnings at startup) thanks to: http://www.android-hilfe.de/root-cu...od-25-07-2014-fimware-hboot-2-22-401-4-a.html this fw does not contain a recovery, so twrp was still there
- flashed rom
---> working phone
thanks to all of you
Ok so by flashing the firmware, I won't lose any data correct? I'm on 1.54.401.5. Already rooted, twrp,su, the normal stuff. Just not supercid.
---------- Post added at 12:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:32 PM ----------
Oh and running viper Rom if that matters

Correct. By flashing the new FW you won't loose any data. You just got to reflash the custom recovery after flashing the new FW.

Full conversion is really what the previous post meant (even though its not what they typed); as you don't need s-off to flash the GPE ROM.
S-off by sunshine, if you haven't figured that out yet: http://theroot.ninja/
After s-off, just run the GPE RUU posted in the Development section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708589
I don't want a rom i want to Complete Convert my ONe M8 to google Edition and i want to fully get updates i hate sense never will go back

Full conversion is what I gave you. You need to either read my last post, of the GPE RUU thread a little more carefully.
Ok I fully rooted Nd unlocked the bootloader . How do I flash the ruu file. I know how to S Off but when I do conversion do I I've to unroot or relock my bootloader to get updates

As long as you ran a fully official, unmodified RUU, you already have stock recovery. No further actions will be needed for future OTAs.
However, OTAs require a unrooted ROM (never rooted, rooting then unrooting doesn't work). So if you intend to root, you should make a TWRP backup of the stock unrooted ROM, before you root.

Since you run an RUU, the phone is no longer rooted. You need the stock, never rooted ROM to update in the future (as I've mentioned).
Relocking the bootloader is not necessary to update.
Hi guys, I was trying to get my HTC M8 back to stock from VenomOneM8 ROM.
I was using the Venom ROM earlier, but now I want to update my M8 to marshmallow.
I was trying to returning all to stock, first was flashing stock recovery, then locking the bootloader and using the RUU to return to stock.
When running the RUU, I realise that the RUU is not working because it is a different region RUU. I read a post on XDA and someone said U/UL version can use the international RUU (.401).
Are there anyways to get out of this?
My region code is .710
CID: HTC__039
It's:
Bootloader relocked
Stock recovery
S-ON
No OS
4.20.710.5
Thank you
Hi,
Did you flash the stock kernel back before you lock the bootloader?

---------- Post added at 12:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:48 PM ----------
If no RUU exists for your version, the proper way to return to stock would be to: unlock the bootloader again (HTCDev.com process), then use the following guide to re-install TWRP, flash stock TWRP backup 4.20.710.5, than restore corresponding stock recovery. After that, you should be able to update (assuming the update is rolling out for your version).

Hey guys I am currently rooted s-on, on twrp and I want to go back to stock because I want to get the newest ruu on marshmallow so I can use viper ROM which only supports the new firm wares. Any help?
You don't need to return to stock to RUU.
Relock the bootloader, fastboot flash the stock MM firmware 6.20.531.5 from here (instructions how to flash at the bottom of the post). Then the 6.20.531.5 RUU.

Below Is A Link To A Thread I Made For Your Situation:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-htc-one-m8/general/htc-m8-t-mobile-recovery-to-stock-t3493877
This Is A Thread I Made Explaining Step By Step What You Need To Do
Follow The Steps Carefully
I Will Make An Additional Thread Showing You How To Unlock Bootloader, Install TWRP Recovery, And How To Root
PM Me On Instagram @kailehkookie If You Need More Help
Or Email Me [email protected]
Dear Community,
I have just received my repaired device from Technical Repair Centre, apparently my mainboard was defective so they have changed motherboard and also screen (possibly damaged during unmount…).
Anyway, very very pleased at the end
Now and as I lost my mind since I have had perform Change CID, Unlock BL, S-Off, Root and play with custom rom (mainly Lee’s, MaximusHD and others) early in 2016, I have read tons of thread and pages but I just wanted to be sure before processing
Target Config:
CID: HTC__0001
FW: Android 8.0 Base 3.16.401.2
BL: Unlocked
Root: Yes with SuperSU
Recovery: TWRP latest
S-Off: if needed to reach target
ROM: Lee’s latest R136
Current Config:
Model: htc_pmeuhl
CID: ORANG219
MID: 2PS620000
Build: 2.48.89.21
BL: Locked
S-On
No Root
Pure stock ROM
So I am planning to do the following:
1. Change CID
https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/guide-how-to-drand-convert-htc-10-to-t3374593 (Thanks to 5m4r7ph0n36uru)
Using Post#3 step by step Using RUU.zip
So :
- Unlock BL using http://www.htcdev.com/ method
- Install TWRP Custom recovery via adb command and https://twrp.me/
- Perform a Nandbackup of my current boot and system image (just in case)
- Flash SuperSU from Chainfire using TWRP
- Perform S-Off using http://theroot.ninja/ license services and choose S-Off/Locked
- Change CID from ADB/Fastboot console
- Switch off phone
- Copy from PC to the root of external SD Card the renamed 2PS6IMG.zip file
2PS6IMG_PERFUM[email protected]61226_79.07_F_release_495903_signed_2.zip (1,8Go)
It says : Flash OTA Update via in-build OTA functionality
But I do not understand which OTA as if I well understood, No OTA for S-Off (so my case)
So I figure out that I will jump this step
- And finally flash TRWP via adb command
Once I am there I will make a first boot
2. Upgrade to Oreo FW
Then flash using TWRP the Full_3.16.401.2_NoBootImg_Twrp3.2.1-2_firmware.zip (90Mb)
From https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/8-0-htc-10-oreo-firmware-t3756126 (Thanks to santod040)
Which is described as “Can be used on S-Off devices to jump from any previous firmware to the current 3.16.401.2 firmware and will update Twrp to 3.2.1-2”
3. Install Lee’s Custom rom
Then immediately (without reboot) flash the Lee’s R136 rom.
Then reboot and enjoy
Am I right to follow these steps or does it exist other ways (shorten/easiest)?
Thanks for your kind advises.
1. Does your carrier have the Oreo update? If yes, take that, then unlock bootloader, flash twrp and rom you like. No need for s-off
2. If your carrier doesn't have it and you really want to convert to WWE, you'll need s-off first. Try the Sunshine app as is, if it can s-off using temproot, then do that, then convert to WWE, then take Oreo OTA, then twrp and flash whatever rom you like. No need for bootloader unlock. If temproot doesn't work, unlock bootloader, install TWRP, root, then use sunshine to s-off. From there, convert to WWE, take Oreo OTA, then twrp, and whatever rom you like.

Thanks Tarima,
1/ Yes my phone is pushing the carrier Oreo update (which I postpone until decision). The thing is that I have changed carrier inbetween so I have no need at all their native stuff.
So if I am going this way, is it possible to :
- Run the carier update
- Unlock bootloader
- Flash twrp
- S-Off
- Change CID to HTC__0001
- Flash Oreo using link on OP
- Finally Flash Lee's custom rom
Is it safe this way ?

Stay on Nougat because I'm not sure if sunshine can run on Oreo yet. After changing CID flash WWE RUU then take the OTA to Oreo, no need to flash firmware. Once the OTA has installed flash twrp followed by leedroid.

I will do that and using the WWE RUU you have linked in this post : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75790764&postcount=2
so
https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=241133
So from Carier Nogat version:
- HTCDev to Unlock
- TWRP (and I will perform a NandBackup from here)
- SuperSU
- S-Off
- Change CID
- Install WWE RUU (Nougat version)
- Let the phone take and install the OTA
- Push TWRP via Adb command
- SuperSU
Then Lee's rom
Right ?
