Updating to FW 2.22.xxx with CID TMOB_101 - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there,
I was planing to flash a 4.4.3 rom to my 4.4.2 M8
at the moment it es running FW 1.70.xxxx with CID TMOB_101
sadly there is no OTA to 2.22.xxx, so they whey to do should be?
Unlook

S-off
Supercid
FW update
Rom Flashing
would the be right? is there any "good" fireware for this?
thanks!

Did it the same way with mine. I hat T-MOB101 CID, unlocked it. Performed s-off using sunshine. After this I changed CID to HTC__102 to flash stock 1.54.401.10 Ron an firmware, and finally flashed the 2.22.401.4 OTA via fastboot oem rebootRUU mode. Worked flawlessly!

Don't know if I'm allowed to post the link right here. Got it from a german forum. Search for "htc one m8 firmware sammlung" an pick the second hit. Should be the handy faq forum.

Ok i found the thread, the only question is what to do now
the ota updates are for 1.54 .xxx to 2.22.xxx
but i am on 1.70.111.1. so what to do here

when you s-off and supercid it doesn't matter any more you can flash 2.22.401.4 firmware and roms with no problems at all

I did it the following way: after obtaining s-off and changin the CID to WWE HTC__102 I flashed the 1.54.10 Rom with TWRP and after this the corresponding firmware. At last using fastboot oem rebootRUU I flashed the update "1.54.401.10 -> 2.22.401.4".
Hope it helps

Flashing the Rom you have to use a custom recovery e.g. TWRP. But if you flash the firmware the recovery will be overwritten by the stock recovery which you can't use to flash one of the backups which you need to install the 2.22.401.4 OTA later on.

soo i just did it
for anyone who is reading this thread, that's the way i did it:
coming from FW 1.70.111.1, Cid: T-Mob102, Unlocked Boatloader
- Installation TWRP
- Supersu.zip root
- Backup
- Transfered Rom to device
- tried firewater -> fail
- s-off with sunshine -> ok but 16€... no big deal, thanks to the team
- supercid
- flashed modded 2.22 FW (without red warnings at startup) thanks to: http://www.android-hilfe.de/root-cu...od-25-07-2014-fimware-hboot-2-22-401-4-a.html this fw does not contain a recovery, so twrp was still there
- flashed rom
---> working phone
thanks to all of you

Ok so by flashing the firmware, I won't lose any data correct? I'm on 1.54.401.5. Already rooted, twrp,su, the normal stuff. Just not supercid.

Oh and running viper Rom if that matters

Correct. By flashing the new FW you won't loose any data. You just got to reflash the custom recovery after flashing the new FW.

[Q] No CID, No Update option, Weird China ROM

I purchased the HTC One X, International in June. When the latest updates came out I looked for the Check for Updates and that button doesn't exist (the HTC store in Singapore couldn't find it either and they have never seen this ROM). Phone works fine, It is just that I would like to upgrade and I am uncomfortable with an unknown China ROM.
Question is how do I determine what the original ROM was so I can reinstall an original ROM or know which Custom ROM I can use?
The packaging and manual it came with are in German. The phone was new when purchased.
1.1204.103.14
HBoot 0.94.0000
S-ON
CID: none (I ran astboot getvar cid)
MID: PJ4610000
Model # HTC One X With anzhi.com
Unlocked SIM (I have used two different SIMs with no problems)
See attached files for screenshots with further details on system. The description include Chinese so I can't reproduce them here.
Try to flash the 1.29.401.11RUU. It says on one of the pic's you have a .401 rom.

Seems to be a custom Rom. Try CID getter (Playstore) to find out what your CID is. If bootloader is unlocked the fastboot command won't work.

Furthermore...if it is already unlocked, check if a custom recovery is installed (if not just flash latest clockworkMod recovery). If so just download any custom Rom you want and flash it.

Thoughts?
As previously mentioned why don't you just try a RUU or go ahead and install a custom rom

No, we have to use fastboot
1. Get the latest version of CWM - you're on an old one
2. You have a T-Mobile branded handset
A thank you to everyone. It worked
Michaeltbh thank you for your word of advice on flashing the boot.img first. I didn't follow that advice and sure enough on reboot it was stuck in a boot loop. That is fixed now. Lesson learned.
Final Question: CM 10 is up and running fine. The bootloader is still unlocked. Should I relock it? Will I need to unlock it every time I want to update CM 10 (probably once or twice a month)?
No need to re-lock the bootloaded

No CID

A friend of mine bought a almost new One X and in fastboot the cid says NONE. It is a Vodafone (not locked) rom with Hboot 0.95.000 with software version 1.29.161.13.
Can he wipe the device (with or without root) and flash a WWE rom?
-Edit- CID is VODAP102.
Is it possible to somehow wipe the device and change the cid to E_11 and flash a WWE RUU?
LOL, he has a ViperX background after factory reset and the bootloader says locked, maybe the device was bricked and repaired.
He should try fastboot oem readcid instead of fastboot getvar cid.

if you can boot into custom recovery (TWRP), then I don't see why you wouldn't be able to flash a custom rom, without rooting.
I would definitely reccomend you make a backup first, before flashing a custom ROM.
I'm also unfamiliar with Hboo 0.95.000. Research to make sure you don't have to fastboot flash the boot.img, before flashing the custom ROM.

No its not possible t change the CID, and no he can't use a different RUU. If he wants to use a RUU te numbers from the main version has to match ! He has to unlock the bootloader with the HTCDev site and flash a custom recovery to flash roms.
And when the CID comes out as VODAP102 it's def locked to the carrier otherwise it should say HTC__CIDnumber
and some more info : Hboot 0.95 means he was originally on a software version 1.29.***.** that's android 4.0.3.....most phones have already been upgraded to hboot 1.12 (software 2.17.***.**) and then the JB versions (software 3.14.***.** and up)

Fastboot oem lock

I want to install RUU to receive OTA. I have rooted the phone but have not flashed a custom firmware. I have twrp 2.3.1.0 recovery and have backed up my stock rom. I am very luck to have s-off but i dont want to install a custom rom yet. I have been doing alot of reading and have not figured the right way of doing this.
Do i need to relock the bootloader even if i have s-off? Don't know why i unlocked it in the first place!
Do i need to install a stock recovery or can i keep twrp 2.3.1.0 or will the RUU do this for me?
I was going to flash this RUU first RUU 1.26.401.2 if i do flash this will s-off change to s-on?
Can someone inform me the right way about doing this. Appreciate the help.
thanks
You don't have to relock bootloader to receive OTA. And please do not run a RUU. You'll lose superCID(111111).
If you want to receive OTA, you'll need the stock recovery..... TWRP will not work.

If your phone is not receiving the OTA 4.2.2 update...it has not yet rolled out for your current CID/country/carrier/whatever. It is rolling out and if you wait you get it.
Or install a custom ROM if you don't want to wait.

[Q] Got S-On by mistake after being S-off, possible to go back?

I got my phone from T-mobile and i unlocked bootloader, rooted and S-off no problem. A couple days ago i updated the firmware to the latest 1.57.531.7. At the time i didn't know how hard it was to s-off new firmware. Using one of the toolkits, i tried to change to SuperCID and i think i accidentally clicked on the s-on button! Because when trying to change CID, i got an error. I booted to bootloader and it says "S-ON"
I tried doing firewater again but whelped out.
So now am i just stuck?
Can i tried to downgrade firmware to the one i had before and will that brick my phone?

Hello everybody! I have m9 with unlocked bootloader, s-off, stock recovery and not rooted. Atm i have a problem with manual ota 5.1 installation via stock recovery (Status 7). That very strange because 5.0.1 nad 5.0.2 updates was installed successfully without any manipulations and accessing recovery. Maybe return to s-on and locking bootloader will solve this problem? How can i get s-on? And can i get it without full wipe?
Your problem is not being s-off, so forget that. S-off should be viewed as a one-way trip.
What exactly is the error you're getting?

I do not know whether it was released OTA with 1.32.401.17 to 1.40.401.8, you checked the settings / about / software updates?

are flashing firmware separately??
If I understand correctly, you have unlocked bootloader and are S-OFF. If yes, then you could flash the combined_no_wipe 2.10.401.1 firmware from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/development/firmware-t3068243
then restore the untouched 2.10.401.1 stock-system ROM from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62661172&postcount=470
then you'll be on stock 2.10.401.1
PS: do not lock bootloader, and do not ever go S-ON
ok buddy your problem is not soff at all, the problem is you need to re-lock bootloader so ota can apply, must be phone, unrooted, re-locked with stock rom, so..............
flash any stock rom with the sd card method since you are soff, reboot in download mode, place dev ruu on sdcard root and flash it, you will loose everything.
do not flash any recovery/superuser stufff, it will break phone again.
relock bootloader, reset phone.
download ota and apply.
--> latest update on dev edition has already the latest firmware 2.11 go for this with no ota at all.

OTA works just fine with an unlocked bootloader
Just reviewed that shot of your errors, nkk71 is correct, otas are incremental and you're flashing them out of sequence.
Since you're s-off, the safest thing here is simply to upgrade manually as stated. These workarounds to get otas to flash are for the guys who are s-on. You don't need to do any of this stuff.
