[Q] No CID, No Update option, Weird China ROM - HTC One X

I purchased the HTC One X, International in June. When the latest updates came out I looked for the Check for Updates and that button doesn't exist (the HTC store in Singapore couldn't find it either and they have never seen this ROM). Phone works fine, It is just that I would like to upgrade and I am uncomfortable with an unknown China ROM.
Question is how do I determine what the original ROM was so I can reinstall an original ROM or know which Custom ROM I can use?
The packaging and manual it came with are in German. The phone was new when purchased.
1.1204.103.14
HBoot 0.94.0000
S-ON
CID: none (I ran astboot getvar cid)
MID: PJ4610000
Model # HTC One X With anzhi.com
Unlocked SIM (I have used two different SIMs with no problems)
See attached files for screenshots with further details on system. The description include Chinese so I can't reproduce them here.

Try to flash the 1.29.401.11RUU. It says on one of the pic's you have a .401 rom.

Seems to be a custom Rom. Try CID getter (Playstore) to find out what your CID is. If bootloader is unlocked the fastboot command won't work.

Furthermore...if it is already unlocked, check if a custom recovery is installed (if not just flash latest clockworkMod recovery). If so just download any custom Rom you want and flash it.

CID is: T-MOB101

With CID Getter I get: CID is: T-MOB101
It does say that it is unlocked.
CLPD-none
MICROP-None

eMMC-bootmode: disabled
CPU-bootmode: disabled
HW Secure boot: enabled

That is really strange. The manual, packaging is all in German,
Thoughts?

As previously mentioned why don't you just try a RUU or go ahead and install a custom rom

Ok, but won't the ROMManager app handle everything if the ROM and the boot.img is on my SD card?

No, we have to use fastboot

1. Get the latest version of CWM - you're on an old one
2. You have a T-Mobile branded handset

A thank you to everyone. It worked
Michaeltbh thank you for your word of advice on flashing the boot.img first. I didn't follow that advice and sure enough on reboot it was stuck in a boot loop. That is fixed now. Lesson learned.
Final Question: CM 10 is up and running fine. The bootloader is still unlocked. Should I relock it? Will I need to unlock it every time I want to update CM 10 (probably once or twice a month)?

No need to re-lock the bootloaded

No CID

A friend of mine bought a almost new One X and in fastboot the cid says NONE. It is a Vodafone (not locked) rom with Hboot 0.95.000 with software version 1.29.161.13.
Can he wipe the device (with or without root) and flash a WWE rom?
-Edit- CID is VODAP102.
Is it possible to somehow wipe the device and change the cid to E_11 and flash a WWE RUU?
LOL, he has a ViperX background after factory reset and the bootloader says locked, maybe the device was bricked and repaired.
He should try fastboot oem readcid instead of fastboot getvar cid.

if you can boot into custom recovery (TWRP), then I don't see why you wouldn't be able to flash a custom rom, without rooting.
I would definitely reccomend you make a backup first, before flashing a custom ROM.
I'm also unfamiliar with Hboo 0.95.000. Research to make sure you don't have to fastboot flash the boot.img, before flashing the custom ROM.

No its not possible t change the CID, and no he can't use a different RUU. If he wants to use a RUU te numbers from the main version has to match ! He has to unlock the bootloader with the HTCDev site and flash a custom recovery to flash roms.
And when the CID comes out as VODAP102 it's def locked to the carrier otherwise it should say HTC__CIDnumber
and some more info : Hboot 0.95 means he was originally on a software version 1.29.***.** that's android 4.0.3.....most phones have already been upgraded to hboot 1.12 (software 2.17.***.**) and then the JB versions (software 3.14.***.** and up)

Yes. Does he have to flash a different Hboot to install ViperX after unlocking the bootloader?
He might have got a network unlock code from vodafone or a 3rd party unlocking business.

Yes correct, but he is not on a stock rom so he can't update now......let me find the ruu he needs to get back to stock. Be back in a minute !.
Download this one
http://androidfiles.org/ruu/securek...Radio_1.1204.105.14_release_264070_signed.exe
Put the phone in fastboot usb and lock the bootloader
Fastboot oem lock
Keep the phone in fastboot usb mode with the locked bootloader and right click the ruu on the pc and select run as administrator
Should do the trick, after this he is back to stock and ready for the update to JB

flash the boot .img again for the rom you are using, but before and after flashing the boot.img do the command "fastboot erase cache". also if you are using custom kernels don't forget to flash the modules in recovery

if you download a custom kernel the zip file contains the boot.img and the modules. you extract the boot.img from the zip file and flash it in fastboot, then you copy the whole zip file to your sdcard and flash it in recovery.

ok you can't use an ruu because your main version is too new, you can use an older nandroid and make it stock and then OTA back to the newest available for your phone.
download this>>>>>https://www.dropbox.com/s/hka4wlxmkn2qgd1/HTC_102-3.18.401.1 TWRP Backup.zip?m then go to matt95;s thread and follow the instructions>>>>>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
Oh and before I forget, you need twrp recovery to restore the nandroid, you can find that yourself

[Q] Phone stuck at HTC One X boot screen with the logo after OTA update, what next?

Hello,
One of my friend's HTC One X recently got bricked or at least I guess so.
The phone was not rooted and not unlocked. The phone received the update a few days ago.
After downloading and installing the update, the phone won't go past the boot screen. It displays the htc one x logo and stays there. He is able to goto recovery mode, but resetting the phone didn't help.
The usb debugging is turned off, so he is not able to unlock the bootloader or anything as such. When the phone is connected to the computer, adb shows nothing and the AIO toolkit shows waiting for device.
Is there anyway to fix it?
Thanks in advance.

Download the latest driver from HTC.
Download this extract to c:\fastboot and go in bootloader on your phone choise fastboot connect the phone to computer and you will see on bootlader Fasboot will change with Fastboot USB. Unlock your phone with HTCDEV and install custom recovery after this mount from recovery SD card and put your rom on the sd card install the rom flash the boot.img erase cache.
Hello, I have unlocked the bootloader. Now I have to find a boot.img I guess
So how do I find it?
BTW I hope I can use the toolkit from this theread for flashing the boot.img: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2066390
Now, flash a custom recovery (twrp,cwm..) and choose a rom to flash (stock or customs).
Inside the rom zipfile there is boot.img for you. Just make sure you follow the relevant install instruction correctly when flashing rom.
One more thing: if possible try to flash manually (instead of using auto tool) as you can make sure which steps/commands have been done and which not. That's very helpful in case of any problem.
Good luck..

Also since the phone is not booting, how do I put the files in SD card?

If you flash stock boot.img you need to flash stock rom but you can't flash stock rom because you can't put the file on the SD Card.
Listen now.
1. Install custom recovery Philz is really good. Extract the recovery.img and put in your fastboot folder run command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img and fastboot erase cache
2. Go in recovery and choice the option mount sd card
3. Copy your ROM to SD Card and install. Use option in recovery Install ZIP
4. Go in fastboot and flash the boot.img extracted from ROM arhiv with the command fastboot flash boot boot.img and after this fastboot erase cache
5. Use your phone

I am kind of lost here. I cannot find any sinlge nandroid with the above main version. I can find many with the 720 code, not the entire code.
Also the HBOOT version is 1.73.0000
Below are the NANDROID file which I found from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
Can I use any of these backups?

[Q] How to install Android Revolution HD

Hello,
I've been recently trying to install few times the Android Revolution HD 10.2 ROM however I always fail. Same happened with previous version.
After the ROM installs, i hit reboot and then nothing. It just freezes on the htc logo (with "developer" text) and nothing happens.
So my question is, what am I doing wrong?
I have no problems with installing ViperOne and all of the non-stock based ROMs.
I can't get S-OFF, so I hope it isn't neccessary
Please keep in mind that I'm pretty new at using HTC One m8, however I have experience with android.
If you have the HTC__001 cid or any which is WWE/ Europe you can and MUST flash the firmware.zip for 2.22.401.4 ...otherwise it won't boot or many things will be broken...all necessary things can be found in each Rom thread, how to flash things and what you need etc...Also which recovery do you use and did you flashed a few mods or so afterwards?

Ok, so I don't really know what this CID is. I've seen people talking about this but can't really tell what it is for. Is this some kind of ID a device, for which country it's meant?
You said "flash 2.22.401.4" firmware. Now I would have to find out how to do that (after I do that, will I be able to normally downgrade to 4.4.2 or will there be some problems?)
There's flashtool for Xperia's, Odin for Samsungs and is there a simillar software for HTC devices (I have something called All-In-One_Kit)?
I've seen also something like RUU, but I would need to fix fastboot, as it isn't working after fresh install of Windows.
My CID: HTC_032
Recovery: TWRP 2.7.1.0
Kernel: Unknown, the one that comes with ViperOne (Already tried flashing ARHD with elementaX kernel)
Current version of firmware: 1.54.401.5

Go and read all important guides to how to do that and what you have to do...you really now nearly nothing about those things...so to be in the safe side read all those guides!

Agreed. Messing with things like firmware, without the proper knowledge is a surefire way to brick the phone.

RUU isn't going to help you with any of this (s-off, flashing firmware packages, etc.). Its just to restore to a stock image (ROM, radio, hboot, recovery).
I really recommend you get fastboot working. You need adb/fastboot to get s-off anyway.
Toolkits are only of limited use. They don't do anything you can't do manually with a few adb or fastboot commands. And many would say if you can't handle doing these things manually, you shouldn't be messing with the phone at all.

Yeah, I would need RUU to get to stock 4.4.3.
I can't get s-off, firewater isn't working with my phone, and I don't want to choose the paid method, as I will probably soon change this device anyway.

I see what you're saying: RUU to stock, OTA to 4.4.3 to get the firmware package, then unlock bootloader again, install custom recovery and install ARHD.
Exactly, or RUU already to 4.4.3 skipping the ota.

Are there any 4.4.3 RUUs? More importantly, is there a 4.4.3 RUU for your version?

There is no ruu just system dumps/ recovery flashable zip of stock Rom
---------- Post added at 06:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:28 PM ----------
Also there is no need of using a RUU... You can just download the stock Rom zip, flash back stock kernel and stock recovery...but only if that Rom matches your cid...If not you have to take a nandroid backup from Mr hofs collection thread...

Thank You, You gave me so much information I needed to know more about this device.
I've found a link like this but I can't find my cid
So for example flashing "CID HTC__001" file would brake my device?
P.S. I'm currious what would happen if I flashed wrong CID firmware. Could You tell me more about flashing wrong one. Would it work normally, had some issues, wouldn't boot or wouldn't I be even able to flash this?
EDIT: Hehe, the link I provided is Mr hofs thread. So what now, if my CID isn't there? Can I just use any version that is for Europe, like eg. germany?
EDIT 2: Flashed stock, deodexed ROM 4.4.3, but still no luck with ARHD

If you are now s-off just get super cid with fastboot oem writecid 1111111 I hope enough ones xD or just write a cid like HTC__001 ... If you have further questions write me a pm and we can talk over hangouts or pm here... easier to follow the progress
Ok, finally got it.
I had to flash "SkyDragon+M8+Sense+444+Kernel+V2.0.1".
Now it's testing time.
Let's see if this ROM is so good.
EDIT: There's nothing cool in this ROM
Going back to skydragon.
Yea arhd is like stock Rom and yea nothing special about it
Hahaha aww man, do you not read what each ROM does before installing it so you know beforehand what you're getting yourself into?
Nah, I didn't. I saw many people were using it so I thought it must be good, but it isn't (no special features).
However I wanted to learn how to make it work, and I must say that the htc is the weirdest phone I ever had. Flashing a rom can't be done logically, here nothing works as it should in theory
Sent from HTC One m8, or maybe not anymore
I often see people who aren't able to get arhd working...but I really don't know why..the normal cwm recovery doesn't work as it should...use instead twrp or Philz...both are working foo and with Philz backup and restore is working where in twrp most of the m8 are having problems :/ I really don't have problems to install a custom Rom.
I got the phone, tried it one day stock, wanted to get a custom Rom, unlocked boot loader flashed custom recovery and afterwards Rom and elementalx kernel...without problems.. few months later was able to do s-off with sunshine and after that most things where again easier

Did it the same way with mine. I hat T-MOB101 CID, unlocked it. Performed s-off using sunshine. After this I changed CID to HTC__102 to flash stock 1.54.401.10 Ron an firmware, and finally flashed the 2.22.401.4 OTA via fastboot oem rebootRUU mode. Worked flawlessly!

Don't know if I'm allowed to post the link right here. Got it from a german forum. Search for "htc one m8 firmware sammlung" an pick the second hit. Should be the handy faq forum.
Ok i found the thread, the only question is what to do now
the ota updates are for 1.54 .xxx to 2.22.xxx
but i am on 1.70.111.1. so what to do here

I did it the following way: after obtaining s-off and changin the CID to WWE HTC__102 I flashed the 1.54.10 Rom with TWRP and after this the corresponding firmware. At last using fastboot oem rebootRUU I flashed the update "1.54.401.10 -> 2.22.401.4".
Hope it helps

Flashing the Rom you have to use a custom recovery e.g. TWRP. But if you flash the firmware the recovery will be overwritten by the stock recovery which you can't use to flash one of the backups which you need to install the 2.22.401.4 OTA later on.

soo i just did it
for anyone who is reading this thread, that's the way i did it:
coming from FW 1.70.111.1, Cid: T-Mob102, Unlocked Boatloader
- Installation TWRP
- Supersu.zip root
- Backup
- Transfered Rom to device
- tried firewater -> fail
- s-off with sunshine -> ok but 16€... no big deal, thanks to the team
- supercid
- flashed modded 2.22 FW (without red warnings at startup) thanks to: http://www.android-hilfe.de/root-cu...od-25-07-2014-fimware-hboot-2-22-401-4-a.html this fw does not contain a recovery, so twrp was still there
- flashed rom
---> working phone
thanks to all of you
Ok so by flashing the firmware, I won't lose any data correct? I'm on 1.54.401.5. Already rooted, twrp,su, the normal stuff. Just not supercid.
---------- Post added at 12:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:32 PM ----------
Oh and running viper Rom if that matters

Correct. By flashing the new FW you won't loose any data. You just got to reflash the custom recovery after flashing the new FW.
Hit "Thanks" if I was of any help.
