Hello,
I've been recently trying to install few times the Android Revolution HD 10.2 ROM however I always fail. Same happened with previous version.
After the ROM installs, i hit reboot and then nothing. It just freezes on the htc logo (with "developer" text) and nothing happens.
So my question is, what am I doing wrong?
I have no problems with installing ViperOne and all of the non-stock based ROMs.
I can't get S-OFF, so I hope it isn't neccessary
Please keep in mind that I'm pretty new at using HTC One m8, however I have experience with android.
If you have the HTC__001 cid or any which is WWE/ Europe you can and MUST flash the firmware.zip for 2.22.401.4 ...otherwise it won't boot or many things will be broken...all necessary things can be found in each Rom thread, how to flash things and what you need etc...Also which recovery do you use and did you flashed a few mods or so afterwards?

Ok, so I don't really know what this CID is. I've seen people talking about this but can't really tell what it is for. Is this some kind of ID a device, for which country it's meant?
You said "flash 2.22.401.4" firmware. Now I would have to find out how to do that (after I do that, will I be able to normally downgrade to 4.4.2 or will there be some problems?)
There's flashtool for Xperia's, Odin for Samsungs and is there a simillar software for HTC devices (I have something called All-In-One_Kit)?
I've seen also something like RUU, but I would need to fix fastboot, as it isn't working after fresh install of Windows.
My CID: HTC_032
Recovery: TWRP 2.7.1.0
Kernel: Unknown, the one that comes with ViperOne (Already tried flashing ARHD with elementaX kernel)
Current version of firmware: 1.54.401.5

Go and read all important guides to how to do that and what you have to do...you really now nearly nothing about those things...so to be in the safe side read all those guides!

Agreed. Messing with things like firmware, without the proper knowledge is a surefire way to brick the phone.

RUU isn't going to help you with any of this (s-off, flashing firmware packages, etc.). Its just to restore to a stock image (ROM, radio, hboot, recovery).
I really recommend you get fastboot working. You need adb/fastboot to get s-off anyway.
Toolkits are only of limited use. They don't do anything you can't do manually with a few adb or fastboot commands. And many would say if you can't handle doing these things manually, you shouldn't be messing with the phone at all.

Yeah, I would need RUU to get to stock 4.4.3.
I can't get s-off, firewater isn't working with my phone, and I don't want to choose the paid method, as I will probably soon change this device anyway.

I see what you're saying: RUU to stock, OTA to 4.4.3 to get the firmware package, then unlock bootloader again, install custom recovery and install ARHD.
Exactly, or RUU already to 4.4.3 skipping the ota.

There is no ruu just system dumps/ recovery flashable zip of stock Rom
---------- Post added at 06:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:28 PM ----------
Also there is no need of using a RUU... You can just download the stock Rom zip, flash back stock kernel and stock recovery...but only if that Rom matches your cid...If not you have to take a nandroid backup from Mr hofs collection thread...

Thank You, You gave me so much information I needed to know more about this device.
I've found a link like this but I can't find my cid
So for example flashing "CID HTC__001" file would brake my device?
P.S. I'm currious what would happen if I flashed wrong CID firmware. Could You tell me more about flashing wrong one. Would it work normally, had some issues, wouldn't boot or wouldn't I be even able to flash this?
EDIT: Hehe, the link I provided is Mr hofs thread. So what now, if my CID isn't there? Can I just use any version that is for Europe, like eg. germany?
EDIT 2: Flashed stock, deodexed ROM 4.4.3, but still no luck with ARHD

If you are now s-off just get super cid with fastboot oem writecid 1111111 I hope enough ones xD or just write a cid like HTC__001 ... If you have further questions write me a pm and we can talk over hangouts or pm here... easier to follow the progress
Ok, finally got it.
I had to flash "SkyDragon+M8+Sense+444+Kernel+V2.0.1".
Now it's testing time.
Let's see if this ROM is so good.
EDIT: There's nothing cool in this ROM
Going back to skydragon.
Yea arhd is like stock Rom and yea nothing special about it
Hahaha aww man, do you not read what each ROM does before installing it so you know beforehand what you're getting yourself into?
Nah, I didn't. I saw many people were using it so I thought it must be good, but it isn't (no special features).
However I wanted to learn how to make it work, and I must say that the htc is the weirdest phone I ever had. Flashing a rom can't be done logically, here nothing works as it should in theory
Sent from HTC One m8, or maybe not anymore
I often see people who aren't able to get arhd working...but I really don't know why..the normal cwm recovery doesn't work as it should...use instead twrp or Philz...both are working foo and with Philz backup and restore is working where in twrp most of the m8 are having problems :/ I really don't have problems to install a custom Rom.
I got the phone, tried it one day stock, wanted to get a custom Rom, unlocked boot loader flashed custom recovery and afterwards Rom and elementalx kernel...without problems.. few months later was able to do s-off with sunshine and after that most things where again easier

Did it the same way with mine. I hat T-MOB101 CID, unlocked it. Performed s-off using sunshine. After this I changed CID to HTC__102 to flash stock 1.54.401.10 Ron an firmware, and finally flashed the 2.22.401.4 OTA via fastboot oem rebootRUU mode. Worked flawlessly!

Don't know if I'm allowed to post the link right here. Got it from a german forum. Search for "htc one m8 firmware sammlung" an pick the second hit. Should be the handy faq forum.

but i am on 1.70.111.1. so what to do here

I did it the following way: after obtaining s-off and changin the CID to WWE HTC__102 I flashed the 1.54.10 Rom with TWRP and after this the corresponding firmware. At last using fastboot oem rebootRUU I flashed the update "1.54.401.10 -> 2.22.401.4".
Hope it helps

Flashing the Rom you have to use a custom recovery e.g. TWRP. But if you flash the firmware the recovery will be overwritten by the stock recovery which you can't use to flash one of the backups which you need to install the 2.22.401.4 OTA later on.

soo i just did it
for anyone who is reading this thread, that's the way i did it:
coming from FW 1.70.111.1, Cid: T-Mob102, Unlocked Boatloader
- Installation TWRP
- Supersu.zip root
- Backup
- Transfered Rom to device
- tried firewater -> fail
- s-off with sunshine -> ok but 16€... no big deal, thanks to the team
- supercid
- flashed modded 2.22 FW (without red warnings at startup) thanks to: http://www.android-hilfe.de/root-cu...od-25-07-2014-fimware-hboot-2-22-401-4-a.html this fw does not contain a recovery, so twrp was still there
- flashed rom
---> working phone
thanks to all of you
Ok so by flashing the firmware, I won't lose any data correct? I'm on 1.54.401.5. Already rooted, twrp,su, the normal stuff. Just not supercid.

Oh and running viper Rom if that matters

Correct. By flashing the new FW you won't loose any data. You just got to reflash the custom recovery after flashing the new FW.

Hi.
As the MM 6.0 update is out i would like to try it but as i am not that much active since many months on m9 forum
Hence i need some assistance in updating.
I am using ATT S-on, bootloader unlocked, currently using a custom rom. What I plan to do is
1. S-off first.
2. change the cid to dev edition
3. Flash RUU.exe(through PC)
or
after s-off i flash just the firmware only ..then restore a backup ROM through twrp backup?
my doubt is do i need to be on stock recovery to flash an RUU ?
am i missing any step here?
Thank you
Once you S-Off
Change Cid to Developer Edition
Download the latest Developer Edition RUU. Exe or the RUU. zip which ever method is easier for you.
Then run/install the RUU to convert your AT&T M9 to Developer Edition.
You can leave the custom rom and TWRP Recovery installed as the RUU will over write it.
Once it's done then go to check for ota update should be 6.0 if you installed the latest RUU

If i flash Stock Rom.. will my phone's boot loader locked again? Or will Security revert back to S-ON ?
even if i update from OTA ? 4.4.4 to 5.0.1 ?
( i mean Not from Custom recovery or fastboot)...
No it will not change your bootloader at all. It will not put it back to S-ON, it will not LOCK/RELOCK your bootloader.
Cheers
even if i update from OTA ? 4.4.4 to 5.0.1 ?
( i mean Not from Custom recovery or fastboot)...
Nothing will change it. Only if you personally use the respective fastboot commands via the PC to the phone !

Hello,
I was trying to install the Bad Boyz Sprint ONE M8 ROM 6.0 Sense 7 v4.0 one of the requirements was that i should update my firmware to 6.20.651.3 so I did, with the hboot method, everything said ok ok but after rebooting I get a black screen after the HTC logo, can anybody please help me I think i bricked it I tried getting in recovery but doest work, with tried with fastboot tried RUU and FUU but I get an error related that I cant reach my cellphone from my computer. help me please
Thanks!
are you S-off with your htc one m8?
you cant flash RUU when you are S-ON
are you able to go in fastboot mode?
the old method to recover soft bricked of old htc phone was to push recovery using fastboot drivers from CMD. it was quick method.
1st you have to tell me are you S-OFF or S-ON?

This is false. A signed RUU meant for your CID, will flash fine with s-on, as long as the bootloader is LOCKED or RELOCKED.

If powered off, try holding power + Vol down for a minute or so, to see if you can get into bootloader.

Not booting after flashing a full, signed firmware is normal and expected. See on the following firmware thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development/progress-fuu-m8-t2813792
Which reads:
- FullStock Wipe ZIP/FUU: this type of zip also re-flashes the /data partition with HTC’s DZDATA files (meaning you lose everything on your internal SDCARD). Also replaces the Kernel, Ramdisk, recovery and Splash1 with latest stock images! The /system partition will not be touched. (Else this would be a RUU, not a FUU). Phone will NOT boot after using this! Be sure to put a ROM onto your EXTERNAL SD before proceeding with a FullWipe ZIP! Else you can also ADB push a ROM in recovery mode after fastboot reflashing a recovery.
So flashing the ROM was the right thing to to. Nice work figuring it out.

You can easily make the bootloader RELOCKED with a single fastboot command: fastboot oem lock
To make the phone LOCKED (for instance, warranty purposes) you need to have s-off.

Yes, you can flash RUU fine with the bootloader RELOCKED (after its been UNLOCKED) and s-on. RUU will run with bootloader LOCKED or RELOCKED. It also has to be the RUU for your devices CID,MID (can only change CID and MID with s-off); and also has to be an RUU of same version or later (no "downgrading" using an older RUU unless you have s-off).
In short, running the right version RUU is fine with s-on, as long as the bootloader is LOCKED or RELOCKED.
