this one looks good. maybe i will also make a mod, but first of all, i need to send my P8000 back to the seller, because i have a "clouding" effect on my screen.

My WiFi signal is actually stronger than my galaxy s3 but suffers from the DNS issue(if that indeed is the real cause) so I lose connection from time to time though it still shows as connected.

Do you loose the Internet connection only in your phone or also other Internet devices? You think the DNS issue is caused by your Internet provider or its a Problem from the P8000?
What exacly do you mean with loose connection? If the phone is in the sleep mode, then the frequency of the sync is pretty low, a good example is whatsapp web service. Sometimes its needed to turn the P8000 on and off. But this is a normal scenario.

A good example is the gaming, when i'm in playing with clash of clans, the signal go down and i must do the reconnection to have it again.
I have an Asus memo pad 7" that never lost the signal in the same conditions, so i think the problem is in the P8000 not in my wifi

I have look that guide but, i think is not our phone. The components inside are differents but i'm not sucre becouse i nevr disassembly it.

Thats for a Galaxy phone the last thing you want to do is put pieces of foil or copper in your phone, with the potential of shorting it out.
Unless you no what your doing is safe.

Yes sure is not our phone. It was just an example how you can improve the wifi antenna for better connection.

WIFI eap broken?

WIFI seems to perform excellent on this phone and works flawlessly at home. When at work though I have to toggle wifi on and off maybe 3 times an hour. Work uses EAP and I'm thinking this is the culprit. This is the first phone I've had this problem with. Like I said it doesn't do it at home which does not use EAP.
Anyone else experiencing anything similar? By the way I looked into the wifi region fix and didn't think it applied to this situation.
Without knowing more about how the wifi infrastructure is configured, it would be hard to pin point. There are quite a few people using EAP without issue. Can you give any more details?

I don't know what else to say. Without having access to even the location of the router I won't be able to gather much info. I work at a huge facility with router antennas sticking out of the ceiling. I most definitely won't be able to access the configuration settings of the routers either. I don't know what other info I can provide other than its EAP and I use a user name and password to log on

Logcat then you would know for sure. At least it may be some sort of indication
I have the same problem. My g2 would connect to the eap network at work fine, but my galaxy nexus does not with the same exact settings
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Mine connects just fine on the first try but sometimes the internet just won't work. I'll show like 2-3 bars and they are blue but nothing works. Have to toggle wifi to get it back.
Maybe it has to do with me moving from one room to another and the connection drops with no indication? I can not for the life of me figure out how to use log cat! And I've tried many times in the past!
does someone found a solution to this issue?
I am also looking for a solution to get connected with my office wifi network
I'm still having this problem for the record. Different kernels and roms. Only happens at work.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge but can you please explain more in detail what this means?
Unless someone compiles it into aosp from the master branch, you won't really have eap support. I am sure it will be in next ota.

Any solution at all, even temporary would be great
Constantly having to enable and disable wifi to get my connection back is the only thing about his phone I can not stand.
Yes, even a temp solution will be great until it get fixed by Google..

[Q] Wifi download speed issue

I’ve read about the wifi issues but was wondering is anyone may have some input. My Ouya is nearly worthless at holding a wifi signal and at local file access. The strange thing is that is seems to mostly effect the download speeds. I side-loaded speed test and can get between 2 to 3.5mbps upload speed most of the time. I am stuck getting .5 to .75mbps down. I realize this is internet speeds but the local network is even slower. It is so slow I am unable to stream off a local network location. I have not had similar problems with other android devices and my 3 year old Motorola phone can get better download speeds off wifi.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

You're not alone. I get the same thing. After a factory reset, the speed pushes to ~1Mbps down, ~4Mbps up, which is still pathetic. There's threads about this problem all over the place.
Same here. Maybe a limit in some config?

Being too lazy to try at the moment and not having the time to attempt it, Has anyone with this issue seen if it goes away with CM10?
If i can get some time this weekend i can try to see if i can boot CM10 non destructively and see if the wifi issues still exist.
When i have some spare time i will skimm sources and configs see what the reason might be. Maybe even kernel related?

Personally I think it is an artifact of using a OS written for mobile devices and power saving on an always on device. I am thinking drivers and or configs are the culprit. In the small amount of looking I did i see WiFi issues are common with JB in general. I have seen a couple threads about similar problems and fixes but they have mixed results at best.
It looks like there are more recent versions of the stock drivers for the BCM4330 chip available
https://android.googlesource.com/platform/hardware/broadcom/wlan/+/master/bcmdhd/firmware/bcm4330
From looking at the bin files from the most recent Ouya OTA it looks like the version there is Version: 5.90.195.89 CRC: 2303bcd6
then again.... i may be reading that wrong, that has happened more then once.

After looking some more i think the next appropriate step would be to upgrade the drivers to the newest version to see if that helps. I cant find a reference to the version in the OTA anywhere but a few snippets form pastebin about the RasPi running jellybean.
I've got a gaggle of kids to watch tonight but may get time to play with it tomorrow. If anyone else wants to take the plunge as well please post how ti goes.
Thanks

I updated the drivers. The good news is the system still booted and worked fine. The bad news is that is did not seem to make any difference in the wifi signal strength or speed.
EDIT:
More followup. I put iwconfig on the Ouya and messed with the txpower setting. It has zero effect. it said 1496 once and it said 1 once but the wifi strength never really moved and the down and up speeds were still poor.

GPS fixed

Hey guys I managed to fix my GPS I changed my GPS.conf file with TopNTP to my local state (Germany) and now it takes one or two SECONDS for the GPS to find my location. And Google Maps finds me now also, one or two seconds (location setting is to only device) and its very accurate. You can try it at your own.

Doesn't work on omni rom
This wont help at all in overall performance. I think all we need is to change our gps pool to a country/region specific one. Horribly inaccurate tracking after i tried this. Makes loops etc.
OK. After testing stock settings again, you really can say that this improves GPS. It doesnt matter that its more inaccurate than on stock because stock gets a lock for 1-2kms on 10km bike rides. Sometimes it doesnt get it at all, and sometimes it tracks the whole route. My Nokia 6220classic had perfect gps... I guess Huawei doesnt like to pay for patents. I use sports tracker, but Maps has the same problems with GPS navigation.
Do I just have to accept that I just have managed to buy a no-gps android-phone again? My last one was GS, which had flawed design considering gps - although it still has way better gps with Cyanogen mod than p6. Navigation unusable on both, but GS had good enough reception for sports tracking apps.
I was having slow and unstable GPS lock on T-mobile USA, but using the default settings in TopNTP I'm getting much better GPS performance. I think it's highly dependent on what country you're in.
Its way better but still horrible compared to G2 (or old 6220c). Applied it again and got rid of the loop issue.
TopNTP didn't work for me, unfortunately. I still have to wait a considerable amount of time for GPS to fix location.
The GPS is incredibly even worse than on Samsung Galaxy S i9000. And on top of that theres a software glitch which makes the GPS to go off until reboot. Today I had to do a factory reset to get it work on maps and other apps as it just wouldnt turn on. On the plus side, now i got a fix on every attempt when i was outside in under 20s.
Im just angry because not one review mentioned this poor gps-performance. And that means no reviewer is to be trusted. Galaxy s gets a fix inside my apartment and it has a well know hardware issue with gps-antenna. Why did they have to copy every aspect of iphone4? Just copy the looks and fix antenna issues. If the HTC one lookalike from Huawei has the same problems as the original, i'd really look into the possibility of corporate espionage .

I wonder if they consider BT4.0 as wifi since it uses 2.4ghz as in wifi?
I am under the assumption that the 360 does not have WIFI, ifixit has their breakdown up and mention no chip.
I have a 360 and it seems the only connection option is via bluetooth.
Sad b/c I was hoping to stay connected with wifi as I always have it on, so bluetooth drains my phone a little quicker. I like the 360 thus far, hardware wise its very nice (aside from the small battery) - android wear seems fairly beta still though, but hopefully that will change quickly in the coming months.
FCC docs list specs for the WiFi test.
My personal belief is that WiFi is used for the updates. Anecdotal, but from varying easy/hard update reports, WiFi was the varying factor.

I have multiple Wi-Fi devices, it couldn't just automatically connect to one.
Bit like Chromecast, perhaps? Establish BT connection, obtain credentials from phone, establish WiFi connection.
The SOC supports it, the FCC tested it.... Shrug. Just an idea.
This would be easy to test...
Go into your router, and check for a new DHCP client...
If only there were an update to test that with!
I was thinking WiFi for location services-but still, why does it need WiFi if it's connected to a phone with WiFi? Odd...

According to the firmware file present in the Moto360, and this picture (green rectangle) (you can see also the filters and caps that connect to the circular antenna inside the metal case, BTW):
It has a Texas Instruments WL18xx chip, probably a WL1851. This chip has wifi, as seen here:
http://investor.ti.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=648106
This kind of chips can use bluetooth and wifi using the same antenna, at the same time.
I don't think it's being used at the moment, I don't have the watch yet. But it definitely is hardware capable.

German provider Kabel BW IPs blocked?

Don't know where to put this other than here.
Currently everyone in South Germany who are with the Kabel BW internet provider can't access xda for the last few days.
It does work with other providers or via mobile internet, but desktop connections time out.
It does work when using a proxy.
It's not possible to restart the router to get a new IP as the provider uses fix IPs, so we're out of luck.
I'm back home for some weeks and I can affirm that. All KabelBW/UnityMedia IPs are blocked.
Same for me

We haven't done anything. Sometimes what happens is an upstream network provider has some sort of peering issue that makes it so that one area of the internet (in this case, Kabel) can't get to it.
If it happens again please let us know so we can report to our provider.
