Hey guys I managed to fix my GPS I changed my GPS.conf file with TopNTP to my local state (Germany) and now it takes one or two SECONDS for the GPS to find my location. And Google Maps finds me now also, one or two seconds (location setting is to only device) and its very accurate. You can try it at your own.

Doesn't work on omni rom
This wont help at all in overall performance. I think all we need is to change our gps pool to a country/region specific one. Horribly inaccurate tracking after i tried this. Makes loops etc.
OK. After testing stock settings again, you really can say that this improves GPS. It doesnt matter that its more inaccurate than on stock because stock gets a lock for 1-2kms on 10km bike rides. Sometimes it doesnt get it at all, and sometimes it tracks the whole route. My Nokia 6220classic had perfect gps... I guess Huawei doesnt like to pay for patents. I use sports tracker, but Maps has the same problems with GPS navigation.
Do I just have to accept that I just have managed to buy a no-gps android-phone again? My last one was GS, which had flawed design considering gps - although it still has way better gps with Cyanogen mod than p6. Navigation unusable on both, but GS had good enough reception for sports tracking apps.
I was having slow and unstable GPS lock on T-mobile USA, but using the default settings in TopNTP I'm getting much better GPS performance. I think it's highly dependent on what country you're in.
Its way better but still horrible compared to G2 (or old 6220c). Applied it again and got rid of the loop issue.
TopNTP didn't work for me, unfortunately. I still have to wait a considerable amount of time for GPS to fix location.
The GPS is incredibly even worse than on Samsung Galaxy S i9000. And on top of that theres a software glitch which makes the GPS to go off until reboot. Today I had to do a factory reset to get it work on maps and other apps as it just wouldnt turn on. On the plus side, now i got a fix on every attempt when i was outside in under 20s.
Im just angry because not one review mentioned this poor gps-performance. And that means no reviewer is to be trusted. Galaxy s gets a fix inside my apartment and it has a well know hardware issue with gps-antenna. Why did they have to copy every aspect of iphone4? Just copy the looks and fix antenna issues. If the HTC one lookalike from Huawei has the same problems as the original, i'd really look into the possibility of corporate espionage .

I recently started using Endomondo with my One X (Im new to endomondo anyway!). On my first run i noticed some odd placement of some of the GPS markers on the route i followed. I figured it was just bad signal.
I took both my One X and Nexus one out today, One X in left trouser pocket and N1 in my Right. The N1 does still have some anomalous readings but nowhere near as many as my OneX
Does anyone else notice this with their One X using Endomondo/similar applications
P.S Yes, i know i am horrendously unfit.

Having come from the iPhone 4 (using MotionX GPS) I also downloaded Endomondo last week to give it a try. Did an 8 mile walk with the phone having a clear view of the sky. Looks okay when zoomed out, but if you zoom in to view the route then it looks like I've had 20 pints beforehand and am wavering all over the place!

Haven't had chance to try another program yet to see if it's the phone or the software.
Having similar problem with Noom. Seems to think I have travelled three times the distance, in some cases, simply because of the erratic zig zags. It actually produces reasonable results if I reduce the GPS polling frequency (setting within Noom) to 30 seconds, from the default 1 second.
Had same kind of problem with Endomondo on my HTC One X.
This is the workout with the HOX: http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/48666294

Aprox 3,5km difference... very weird..
Has anyone tried endomondo on a different device - do they get the same results.
Out of interest, what Firmware version is your One X which gives these results?

Hope it is not a Hardwareissue like on transformer prime with tegra3.

Return it
I have the same GPS problem in all my GPS apps that are working fine in my old Desire.
The only solution people report in other treads is to return the phone for another copy - I tried that today in my shop - the official HTC shop in Copenhagen - only to be told that I was one day late as they have a 7 day policy, so now my phone has to go away for "repair" a number of weeks
I blocked the GPS-Services to prevent download AGPS-data, and cleared after that the AGPS-data on my phone using GPS-Status. Now is working.

You could try to put the phone in Plane/flying mode and then delete the Agps info with the gps status app.
Maybe that will work, because endomondo (or any other app) will not be able to update the gps info at that moment.
I must say, i have not yet tried it, so i have no idea if this realy works, but i think it should work.

P.S. My gps works really fast and it shows me my current location without any problem.

You can always try to enter your location manually.

I live in Peristeri that is a suburb of Athens. All the other days was showing me the correct location which is Peristeri but now it showing me Athens. Let's say is about three or five kilometers the one location to the other. To test it I went to my village yesterday and it happen again. It shows me only the big cities now and not the small ones that it used to.
I checked Accuweather to see if there is a problem with their site that I believe this is where the widget gets the locations but I didn’t find something there.. (I think this is silly to do that!!!!)

a 3-5 kms difference will give the same weather, if it was a 20-50 kms difference, then maybe it would matter but unless you get the wrong weather, I'm not sure what the problem is.
When it updates, it will take the closest reading. So if at that time, you're closer to Athens, then that's what it will show until it updates in Peristeri. If you don't want that to happen, just set your location manually (in weather settings) to Peristeri and it will never change.

I’ve read about the wifi issues but was wondering is anyone may have some input. My Ouya is nearly worthless at holding a wifi signal and at local file access. The strange thing is that is seems to mostly effect the download speeds. I side-loaded speed test and can get between 2 to 3.5mbps upload speed most of the time. I am stuck getting .5 to .75mbps down. I realize this is internet speeds but the local network is even slower. It is so slow I am unable to stream off a local network location. I have not had similar problems with other android devices and my 3 year old Motorola phone can get better download speeds off wifi.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

Personally I think it is an artifact of using a OS written for mobile devices and power saving on an always on device. I am thinking drivers and or configs are the culprit. In the small amount of looking I did i see WiFi issues are common with JB in general. I have seen a couple threads about similar problems and fixes but they have mixed results at best.
It looks like there are more recent versions of the stock drivers for the BCM4330 chip available
https://android.googlesource.com/platform/hardware/broadcom/wlan/+/master/bcmdhd/firmware/bcm4330
From looking at the bin files from the most recent Ouya OTA it looks like the version there is Version: 5.90.195.89 CRC: 2303bcd6
then again.... i may be reading that wrong, that has happened more then once.

After looking some more i think the next appropriate step would be to upgrade the drivers to the newest version to see if that helps. I cant find a reference to the version in the OTA anywhere but a few snippets form pastebin about the RasPi running jellybean.

I updated the drivers. The good news is the system still booted and worked fine. The bad news is that is did not seem to make any difference in the wifi signal strength or speed.
EDIT:
More followup. I put iwconfig on the Ouya and messed with the txpower setting. It has zero effect. it said 1496 once and it said 1 once but the wifi strength never really moved and the down and up speeds were still poor.
I have found the first real issue with the M8.
The GPS fails during navigation and cannot get proper lock. That meant it kept trying to recalculate routes etc...
My friends have also had same issue.
Location settings were set on the best option too. Full mobile signal and internet as well.

Google navigation and TomTom both failed on different M8s.
It works for a bit, but when it goes wrong you will know about it.
I am hoping only software, but I have no idea of issues or how to fix it.
If you are rooted or unlocked, try this GPS config ... its for quick good AGPS lock before actual GPS one.

I'm not adversed to anythng BUT I have just bought a £500 plus phone. I would rather not void a warranty yet.... also some of my apps won't work on a rooted device.
I have no problem on my phone. all is ok.
GPS has been the best I've ever experienced on a smartphone. Locks quickly and accurately and the only device ever to get a decent lock inside my concrete flat.
However, yesterday the GPS failed completely whilst driving with clear view of the sky. A reboot fixed it and it was then rock solid again.
That's the only time it's done it in about a week since owning it with about 20 hours driving with it.
I'm hoping that means it's a software issue somewhere.

Yep gonna agree works perfect with copilot. Also better than sygic imo. I also wouldn't bother with Google navigation. Better to use an offline satnav app.
I have this problem too... Doesn't seem to matter which app one are using, it also happens with my golf app... And the only way to fix it, is to reboot the phone.. This is really annoying...
It seems to be related to bluetooth use... If I use BT to play music/listen to audiobook at the same time as I use the navigation app, then I have this problem.. If I turn off the BT, then the problem does not seem to appear... I am saying seem to, because it seems to be random when this occurs so not 100% sure that turning off BT fixes the problem but so far I have not had this problem when BT is off..
I also thought this was fixed in the latest update but yesterday it happend again....

Hi there all!
Since the update on the MIUI 10.3.1.0 PEEMIXM my GPS isn't working at all. Every GPS fix app I tried so far simply doesn't see any satellites in the sky. Google maps not working. It never finds any GPS whatsoever.
Anyone has similar issues?
Googled a bit but not with much info. I tried to reflash through OTA the last build without any different effect. Remove all updates from Google maps also did not solve the problem.
Any ideas?
Best regards,
David

Yes, in the overall menu at the top (what's it called btw?) the GPS Icon is marked as blue, so "on". And in the settings it's on high precision (GPS+wifi+network).
But you're right, it behaves like it isn't on at all.
