I check it in the settings and then try to use it every once in while and it doesn't respond. When i head back into the settings the option is unchecked. Re-checking works until it randomly stops working once again. Any ideas?
Any ideas? It keeps happening.
Stock? Rooted? Custom launcher? Try signing out of Google and clearing the data in the Google app. If you're using a custom launcher, make sure there aren't settings in there that are turned off. I know Nova has something along the lines of turning on or accessing always listening. Good luck.
Sorry - can't help you, except I will confirm it did it regularly on 6.0.0 for mine -- every few days -- and (fingers crossed) has stopped turning itself off on 6.0.1.

stock, not rooted. I use the standard launcher. I am using 6.0.1 at the moment but it did it beforehand as well. I tried clearing the search portion of the google app. Apparently they split the "clear data" section for this app in to two separate pieces. One's for search stuff, the rest of for launcher stuff. Maybe i should clear that too. It doesn't seems like that would be related though. Looks like i got an update to the google app today though so i hope that'll help something. If not i'll try the signout and clearing it all like you suggested.

For some reason whenever I open up a book in google books, it starts reading it aloud. I can't find a setting for this anywhere and it is driving me nuts. Has anyone else seen this? I've searched around online and have found absolutely nothing about this. I've run into this on two different ROMs now (Bugless Beast as well as Codename Android). Any help is much appreciated.
I am having the exact same problem without any luck in finding a solution. I would also appreciate any advice to a solution.
Something similar was happening to me as I typed messages in Codename Droid. It would read aloud every word I typed. I'm using Thumb Keyboard - and finally discovered that Text-to-Speech was somehow checked in settings. I had definitely not done it myself - in fact I've never realized it was there, and I've used Thumb Keyboard for years now. Maybe check there? I don't know how it would impact it - but maybe it is.
Also check in the settings for Google's text-to-speech output.
Good luck.
In google books open the book and then hold your finger down near the top of the on screen button. A slider should appear to allow you to move through the book and a bar should appear on the top of the screen. Open the menu and choose the stop reading aloud option.
Yeah, I know you can tell it to stop reading aloud, but the problem is I have to do this every time I open any book. It automatically reads every book aloud as soon as I open it.
I would try wiping data from the Google Books app...
I did that. I can't uninstall it either because it's a system app apparently. I was going to try and uninstall / reinstall after wiping data.

weird I only had to do it in one book and now none of them read aloud automatically. I just installed a 4.0.4 port with the updated gapps of course so maybe its broken in 4.0.2/3?
You should only have to change it once...
Since you've tried deleting data, I would try fixing permissions (using ROM Manager), to see of the changes are not sticking due to a permissions error...
Do you have lightflow installed? I read somewhere (I can't find it right now) there is a bug with the accessibility settings. It will sometimes enable talkback.
Bump any solution yet? It's really annoying

I think there's something to this.
I have no idea if this is always the issue, but I had this problem and when I looked at the accessibility settings, lightflow did show up and was enabled there. I turned it off, and not only does lightflow still work, google books has stopped reading out loud all the time. I'd say turning off all of the accessibility settings that are enabled would be worth a shot, even if you don't have lightflow, there might be something there that's screwing with accessibility.

This is the issue. It is a bug with ICS and not lightflow - but happens none the less.

Thanks! That definitely was the issue. Once I disabled light flow in accessibility settings, the problem went away! You rule!
Alright I have a problem with my N7.
Putting it here since more people see this thread
So I guess my N7 restarted sometime at night and when I turned it on, I noticed that first my password lock wasnt there, nor was there a lockscreen.
Then a notification came up saying:
"Unfortunately, Google partner setup has stopped.
My notification bar, wifi, and home buttons dont work. I can force stop apps in the settings, but anytime i click clear cache it reboots.
I tried to do a factory reset and when I enter my password lock and click ok, then settings force closes. I'm not sure what to do.
I forced stopped google partner setup and gallery, those two popups came when the N7 would turn on that it wouldnt work. Now they dont come up anymore but that didnt solve anything.
Any help??
I am stock and unrooted btw. The night before this happened all I did was watch netflix
some other things to add, if i uninstall an app, it reboots and the app wont uninstall.
The notification bar actually comes down, its the other one with the toggles that doesnt.
well I was able to get into recovery mode and do a factory reset that way. Didn't know that was possible without root haha. Everything seems to be ok for now...

When stuff like that happens I get paranoid my nand or ROM is bad and do all sorts of tests lol.
I'm glad to hear that all is well again. Now root that puppy put twrp on it, make a backup and flash a good ROM lol.
I can't seem to get "OK google" from any screen settings to appear. I only get the standard option from the home screen. A week ago I installed the launcher and it worked. I did a system restore and updated now it doesn't. Anybody know what causes this. I know I have the latest app and GPS.
From what I've seen inside the app, you need English US activated.

It is....any other suggestions? It worked a week ago now not....very weird issue.
The clearing the app's data, force stop it, and restart.
I am getting this error message essentially making the phone useless. I got notification I had an update on Friday. It auto updated, I installed it, it rebooted, and this message continuously pops up and I cant use anything. Factory reset did nothing, and the only semi work around is I was able to get Nova Launcher on there. It semi works but the message comes up every time I lock and unlock the phone.
Nobody seems to know the answer to what the hell this is or what happened but I need someone who is smarter than I to help me fix it please. Any advice is very much appreciated. Phone is unrooted.
Thanks in advance.
Go to setting, General, Apps, All Apps, and fine "Home". Clear cache and reboot.

tried that, it didn't seem to work. Is there something I'm missing? Do certain apps cause this?
Having the same issue right after updating to 6.0; clearing cache didn't work for me either. I suppose I'll try a different launcher in the meanwhile.
"Unfortunately, Home has stopped
I am now rooted using the video instructions from ROOT JUNKY, but I am getting this error message "Unfortunately, Home has stopped" I went to the Apps setting and resets app preference and also clear the home cache but to no effect. i am able to get the simple home setting but not the other advance home setting. please help if you can. Thanks inadvance
LG G4 H815
Problem solved for Lg G4. Go to Settings, General, Apps swipe left to "All" then scroll down to "HOME" not easy home. Open it and clear cache and also "clear data" you will get a warning message when you try to clear data, but that's ok. I was afraid to do this but it works for me, It will only clear and Home screen preference or shortcut you had. You can setup your preferred shortcuts after again. restart and select "Home" as your default. Let me know if this helps
Think not.. Still home crashes
Nope, that's not a fix. All it did was wreck my app placements and settings.. Nothing else. Immediately after clearing the cache and data it crashed exactly the same way.
Home has stopped is becoming increasingly annoying, and also increasing in frequency. I'm going to try Uninstalling the app update that started it all: Voice Mate 4.70.10.
I'll see if this works. If so I'll post here. If not, consider this an open thread and hopefully someone in the G4 community with some skills and knowledge will find a solution.
Anyone found a solution to this problem?
Unfortunately home has stopped!!!!!!!!!

If you have an LG G4 you may have seen this message and waited for the home screen to re-start again, only to happen again and again, I’ve searched all the forums to no avail, so I installed another home screen to got rid of the problem, now have a permanent fix, you have to disable Smart Bulletins:
Go to apps, hit menu, select home screen settings, turn off Smart Bulletins.
Hey everyone! Is anybody experiencing issues with the "at a glance" widget? It only shows the day, date and month. No weather update though... I can get it working by clearing all data of the Google app, or uninstall updates of it through settings and the play store, but after maximum of a few hours the weather updates disappear again... In the feed settings the weather updates are switched on but I can't even switch it on. I turn it on, tap on the finished button on the top and does nothing... Any idea? I'm on latest PIE, Magisk and stock kernel.
I have no issues here. Have you tried clearing the settings?

I think it's something to do with the Google app as I clean chache and storage, the weather update comes back and shows the current weather. Than it seems when it wants to update it, it just disappear and never comes back until I clear all data of the Google app again... Anyway, I'm not too bothered, just thought I was doing something wrong. Maybe with the next update it will come back...
