Apps force close, had to reinstall for some apps to run. - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
New user of Zf2 here.
I've been realizing there is a small problem to my phone. Some apps installed in my phone, like Sygic Navigator, Waze, Asphalt, Mantano Reader, Line video call; it has no pattern, just randomly; often failed to launch especially after some time of phone idle or restart. Sometime with usual mesaage when apps force close, sometimes just no message at all. After reinstalling the apps (i'm using link2sd that can offer the option of reinstalling) the app(s) will run normal again.
Anyone here has got the same problem, or it is known issue (I'm guessing Lollipop's) ? Please provide a solution if there is any. Much appreciated for all help.
Cheers.

seriously low memory issues after upgrading to WM6

while on WM5 my free memory never really went below 10 M , even with several programs running.
loaded the new generic WM6 to my generic s620 and while it's nice looking, i'm having serious RAM problems. after a clean boot, free memory is around 18 M.
BUT, having a couple apps open like calendar, messaging, msn, it suddenly drops to only 2 MB available! right now, as I'm typing this it has 1,100K free ram and i have skype and IE open, everything else is closed. yes, ie cache is clean.
i did install voice command and at first suspected it for this sh*t but after disabling (removed from startup).
any ideas?
thx
Greg
Try uninstalling Skype and VoiceCommand for a few days, see how it runs then.
IE will also eat ram and not give it back until it is killed. I always remember to use celetask to close it after i'm done using it.

Talking about kill process, what's the best task manager available for smartphone?
I don't know celetask but I'll give this a try.
The question is - does your device run slowly or not allow you to run applications? Or are you just worried about a small number?
I see the same thing on mine, but it nevers runs slow and I have never hit a 'no memory' problem.
I have calendar, inbox, tasks, contacts, phone history, IE, Communicator, MSN and File Explorer open.
I agree with the above post, IE is a hog and you need to kill it from time to time.
My s620 has been running the HTC official WM6 ROM since the day it was posted and I have rebooted once since then, and that was only because I shut it down for a long flight
Maybe I'm just not a 'power user'?
It's not slow but it kicks out some apps from time to time as there is not enough memory.
For example, when browsing with IE, Skype closes sometimes. That pisses me off.

That's normal behavior when system closes some apps for wiping memory, you should try to avoid big memory "eaters" and close some of them..
For me i always try to keep 3-4 apps opened and got no problems..

yep, I know this. My problem is that WM5 vs. WM6 --> 10 MB is missing "somewhere"....
I only have Messages and Skype running, everything else is closed. But when I launch IE and it kills Skype I get pissed!
I upgraded mine to wm6 and i have no idea whats wrong, it runs beyond slow! nothin running, and lag like no other! it gets so bad sometimes that i have to restart my phone, and to restart my phone i have to pull my micro sd because i guess it doesnt like 1gig sticks! how and what do i do to fix this! also i would re rom it but i just to want to have to go through the hassle of getting BBConnect working again!
Hmmm... doesn't make sense, as mine actually runs >a lot< faster. Is yours under warranty? Sounds like yours is defective, you should talk to your carrier about a replacement device

I am not using Skype, but gonna think Skype is very "hungry" for memory, for ex for me: when no apps started i have 15mb free, after IE and other 3-4 apps it's 5-6mb free and still no problems..

Internal Error :0

Greetings.
I have Sprint TP2. It's a stock install except I disabled touchflo3d and i'm using plain WinMo home screen.
Ever since yesterday I noticed that when I check my phone after its been in sleep mode for a few minutes there is a small popup window waiting for me on the home screen.
Title of that popup window is "Internal Error"
Body is a red X icon and text ":0"
If i press ok button that window goes away but then after a few minutes its back.
Rebooting the phone doesn't solve this.
How would i troubleshoot/solve this?
Have you installed any software that didn't come on the phone? If so, try uninstalling one by one to see if you find your troublesome app. If you have all stock software the best bet would be to hard reset. But be sure to backup all data (contact, text messages, etc) if you hard reset.
I have the same issue. mxxcon, did you ever determine root cause?
I'm getting the same thing on both of my Touch Pro 2's, one is with Verizon and the other is with U.S. Cellular, and it seems to have started for me tonight. It's not hurting anything that I can tell, just annoying. However, I'm not seeing it on my HTC Pure (AT&T), so it seems to be specific to the Touch Pro 2.
Edit-It looks like it might be related to the newest version of Google Maps, I wonder if leaving it running in the background is causing this?

I have the same issue on my ATT Fuze. It is definitely the goggle map application, I wonder if its cause i have it running on the SD card.
Anyone else having the problem?
i think its has to do with lattitude with google maps when you exit say no to keep shareing your location i just tried it let ya know what happens
well so far 20 mins later no error message
Tilt google maps :0 sd card

Thanks for the idea.
ATT Tilt, WM6.1
I nominate for The 2010 Most Useless Error Message Award ":0" --> read: "I have no plonking clue." LOL!!!
Hard reset, install google maps 3.1 to SD, returns :0 on the first try.
(It -may- have even trashed my email and messaging - desktop icons stopped working - but not willing to re-re-re-re-reinstall to test that further.)
Just for fun, uninstall GM, install from CAB to SD and returns :0 simply on the **install**!!!!!!
Hard reset, changed install to main memory rather than SD, and it installed and ran perfectly on the first try. Several soft resets later it still runs like a bunny.
Actually GM is working better than previously. I used to get constant failures from GM to connect to the GPS in the phone ('not found' and such). I used to have to -first- turn on VisualGPSce, and -then- GM would find it immediately. GM is now aaallll grown up and can now do that aaallll by itself.
Have a day!

[Q] Did the apps and memory handling change with froyo(?)

Hi all.. Has anyone noticed any difference on the way android treats running apps and memory after froyo upgrade?
I hv been using SystemPanel Lite (by NextApp Inc) as from the first days of my Desire (April); actually not as a task-killer but for monitoring system, running apps/services and memory. It shows apps that are running and visible, running in the background and those that are inactive at the moment.
Before froyo, there were fewer apps running in the background, and most of the apps that were opened by me or activated automatically by OS were in "inactive" status. Now -after froyo- there is almost no any apps/services that are reported as inactive (?); all of them (appr 41 apps/services right now!) are running in the background, some of them (14 pcs) third party apps which were installed from the market, all the rest are android or HTC system apps/services, and no any single app seen in "inactive" at the present.
(My device is unrooted, generic HTC Desire with official froyo)
I noticed that too, but I think it could be just down to some way the systempanel reads application state or some formal changes.
Me, too. I also noticed (ironcally) that several google apps seem less stable than before. I also had to do a soft reset as the only way to force close the FM Radio. Companionlink synching hasn't been the same, either, occasionally clearing all the data and starting from zero - very annoying when you have 1200 contacts...
But improved reception on phone and wi-fi have made up for all that.

[Q] G3 keeps freezing and being slow

My G3 (D855) keeps hanging up and generally being slow if I don't restart it every single day. Problem is, I don't even have that many apps installed on it. How can I fix this issue? Please help me out! Just in case it helps, here are the apps I have installed on my phone (All other stock apps I have disabled) (My phone is stock, Unrooted)
9Gag
Amazon
Infinite Flight
FlightRadar24
Pixlr Express
Instagram
Twitter
ES File Explorer
Poweramp (Full version)
MX Player
Rest are stock apps, excluding Google Plus and a couple of other Google apps like Books which I have disabled.

First thing that stands out is Flightradar24. Next is Infinite Flight. Both are GPS hogs. Do you have location set to GPS precise? Are these apps constantly running?

Hi! I quit both these apps right after I finish with them. Plus, Infinite flight does not use GPS. (It's a flight sim game). And I turn off my GPS after using these apps.

Use process of elimination. Remove downloaded apps. See if p is slow. If not slow reinstall one app. Run app. If app makes phone slow, you found the offending app. If not slow, reinstall one other app. Run app. Get the point? It's a lengthy process, but is required to find which app(s) cause(es) the phone to slow and hang.

[Q] Google Services using massive data constantly... what's going on here?

Ever since upgrading to Lollipop (5.0.1), my G3 has been consuming vast quantities of mobile data (much more than it does on Wi-Fi) , at a rate that is threatening even my 1GB monthly cap. I have never had this issue with this phone before upgrading, nor with any other phone I have owned, and I can't find any resources about it online. It appears to use small amounts of data (a few KB) continuously throughout the day, not in large chunks, so it is not Google trying and failing to download a software update like come CM users have seen.
I uninstalled every app that I did not have before the Lollipop upgrade, as well as any potentially troublesome apps, to no avail. Then I tried booting into safe mode, removing all my synced accounts except the main Google one, turning off sync for that account, turning off data backup, clearing the caches of all my apps, and not opening any non-stock apps for a day. Even with all that, it still ran through a few megs in just an afternoon. Turning everything back on and setting accounts back up did not increase or decrease the data consumption. Restricting its background data does stop it from using mobile data, but it also seriously cripples my device (Play store stops working, sync stops working, calendar etc. stop working...)
I attached screenshots that show its data usage. It decreased considerably around June 9th because I finally got Wi-Fi in my room. But even still, it continues to eat my data for no apparent reason. I REALLY want to avoid a factory reset (and I doubt it would help anyway, since it was factory reset for the upgrade, and running everything completely stock doesn't help).
Can anyone give me some ideas here?
Info about the phone:
Model: LG-D851 (T-Mobile)
Android version: 5.0.1 (stock, rooted)
Kernel version: 3.4.0
Software version: D85120b
Network: olleh (South Korea, the same SIM card I used with the phone before the upgrade)
Google Play Services version: 7.5.71 (1955121-430)
Google Services Framework/Google Account Manager versions: 5.0.1-1602158
Hey, try limiting background data. There should be a tick above the usage graph.
Also many people have problems after upgrading to lollipop, including me, you should try factory reset. I had like half of my apps broken and frequent crashes after upgrading.

Hi Martin, thanks for the reply. I'm trying to avoid restricting background data because I often have to go long stretches without Wi-Fi, and a lot of my apps stop working properly if background data is restricted. And I don't want to factory reset because it takes me days to set my phone back up to how it was.
