Hi people.
Just bought myself a HTC One X locked onto T-Mobile network.
I want to use it on Orange UK.
Anyone know if the SIM unlock codes are available?
Every site I go to advise me that the codes aren't available yet.
Is there another way of being able to use my orange SIM with the HTC One X?
Thanks
There are people selling the codes on Ebay, and there is a Tread (closed though) of people who have successfully used these services: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613613&highlight=unlock+code
Check ebay though as they are some for as cheap as £4.
Nice one gaiden, I'll give it a go.
Thanks for help.
A novice like me needs all that I can get!!
Aaaah, just realised why I'm struggling. Apparently the phone has to be at least one month old for IMEI to be registered on server. That means the waiting game......
Cant you just phone tMobile and ask them for a subsidy pin ?
ermmm tmobile and orange are the same company.... is the card being rejected out right?, i can switch between orange and tmobile with no problems with my tmobile card, and my wife has a locked wildfire s to tmobile that happily runs a orange card.
Yeah tmo and orange are now the same network. You shouldnt need to unlock for this.

That is the exact reason why I bought the phone, thinking Orange & T-Mobile have merged into one.
The thing is they share their network coverage but they are still two seperate companies. This was confirmed by Orange UK. And T-Mobile won't deal with me because I don't have an account with them.
So I need to find someone who does have one, or set one up (which I don't want to do).
All the official HTC Unlock sites don't seem to have code available and give me a refund straight away. I'm going to try a couple from EBay this morning to see if they're any better.

T-Mobile will only unlock a handset that is registered to the account. I.e purchased with the number at the same time, as imei's are linked.

What method did you try ?
the ebay unlocking method worked fine for my t-mobile phone,
Unlock codes!?
Am I missing something,
If you flash an RUU rom surely that will unlock it?
I presume using Ebay Unlocking techniques also risk voiding warrenty?

Flashing a custom ROM does NOT SIM unlock the phone. Unlike unlocking/rooting, SIM unlocking does not void your warranty.
I've used HTC SIM Unlock before and they always been to work. They have a money back guarantee as well. Never trust those unlockers on eBay. I've been scammed too many times. http://www.htcsimunlock.com/#oid=1096_1
Your other option could be to get a PAYG sim card and call them from that. They might unlock it for you as you would have an account with them then?
I never thought of that, ie, getting a PAYG SIM card. Should have done that! Anyways, after many unsuccessful attempts in getting the phone unlocked (the number of refunds I got on my Paypal, I had numerous security checks on my card!), I eventually got hold of the person I bought the phone off. He's kindly got in touch with T-Mobile UK, and for £15-32, they'll unlock it for me. It will take between 10-28 days, so I'm expecting it to come through some time this week at the earliest. I know it may be dear, but I also know they will be able to unlock it, as its their network.
Anyways, thanks for all the help guys!
I just unlocked my one x at unlockcode4u.com and as I made a video they just refunded me, so eventually I didnt pay anything.
My HTC one X is the best phone ever
Just thought I'd share my experience: was able to unlock 4 Captivate Glides with codes I bought from eBay seller leandro_max. Got them for only $6 each (through best offer).
Previously, I tried unlockitnow, who didn't have the code and instead sent those cheap universal SIM unlock; still trying to get a refund - avoid them. Also tried cellunlocker but they refunded as soon as they realized they didn't have it.
FWIW, deleting nv_data files in /efs did not work for me. There were only two nv files and after deleting and rebooting, even with factory reset, the files were always restored with the original IMEI.
EDIT: all phones were AT&T.
EDIT 2: American Unlocker is having a sale on eBay for $5.58, and he accepted my offer of $5. Got the code 30 minutes after payment (during lunchtime here in US EST)
AmericanUnlocker.com had a unlock code that worked fine for me.
The code was sent within 24 hours and the support is quite friendly and nice.
I can second that, americanunlocker is good. I have the Roger's version, and they didn't have that option when I went to their site. So I e-mailed them about that. Just a few hours later I got a reply they also did the Roger's version and that they had added it to the site. And so I went back, and got the working code within a few hours.

Americanunlocker worked for me ...
I can tell that americanunlocker did a very good job with the unlocking code for my Glide. What is very mysterious here is that I bought my Glide unlocked on eBay, then I had to travel abroad and used a SIM Card with a compatible network but after a few days it was asking for the code again, so I went to americanunlocker and after a few hours they had the code ready. Worked fine for me ...
any ideas why this could happen?
Regards!

I had something similar to this; bought an unlocked phone from eBay which relocked after I flashed to the OsiMood ROM. An unlock code solved the problem and, despite many reflashing later, still haven't come across it. I think it's going to be down to whatever alternative method (i.e. not using an unlocking code) these sellers are using to unlock these phones before listing them on eBay as "unlocked".

Cool thanx for linking the info I checked out the Auction and find it interesting that he says that he will snail mail the code and not email it. Any info on if he supports Rogers or only AT&T?
The snail mailing thing is just to comply with eBay rules. He emailed my codes reasonably quickly after payment. Not sure if he has Rogers codes, but here are listings from other sellers who do.
i also used AmericanUnlocker.com to unlock mine and it works perfectly

Ok I bit the bullet as well. I paid him 5$ with an Ebay best offer and unlocked my phone from Rogers. Borrowed a friends's Sim that is on Telus and I got prompted for the code I entered it and presto Unlocked. Funny thing is I am happy to stay with Rogers but just wanted to unlock phone should I ever travel and may wish to get a local sim.
ON another Note just wanted to mention I tried to unlock my phone with a Fido Sim but It never prompted me for the unlock code and my phone was able to make calls with the Fido Sim even though I was Rogers locked. Guess this proves that Rogers and Fido are the same company.
does you got the unlock code in snail mail or email?
glad to hear that it works with a rogers phone cos i'm thinking of geting the rogers version instead of the at&t one.
got it by email took about 1 day. I emailed him prior to see if he was able to do Rogers. He said yes and I did the 5$ best offer. I sent him an email with my imei# once I won the auction and then I got my email from him with my unlock code in 24 hours.
oh thats good to hear.
Much to my chagrin, I'm still on the worst service in my area - AT&T - locked in to them until 29-October. However, I did call before my overseas trip and got a working unlock code in about 3 minutes. I guess it helps I've never been late on a bill and have been with them since the Cingular days :\ I let them know I was going overseas and would be picking up a local-working SIM for the couple weeks I'd be there, they had no problem.
L4T
I recent bought a Arc S from someone on kijiji (according to him, this phone is locked to Canada rogers), and when I started the phone, it shows the Rogers logo as well.
the problem is, this phone does not work with rogers sim card, it displays
“This sim card cannot register with this network”, if I insert others like bell or telus, it will request a unlock code.
first, I went to rogers store, they found out this phone warrenty expires at June 28th of 2013, which is wierd, then they told me they could not fix it because I didnt buy it from rogers store.
So I bought one unlock code from "cellunlocker.net" and trying to use it on another network, however it failed again, told me code is wrong!
I have contacted with "cellunlocker.net" about this, they insist this is right code and can not do anything about it
what can I do now?
can anyone give me an advice before I throw it away or sell it as defect phone?
thanx
Hi, I've just got my M5 and it's locked to Voda UK - is there a way to sim unlock it quickly, or do you need to get one of the online unlocks that takes 5 days or so? Had an S3 about 4 years ago and that could be unlocked when tethered to a PC... thanks for your help
Same phone acquired same way
You might have noted when you got the phone it was "primed" lock lock to whichever network you first tried.
If you put a Vodafone SIM in then locked to that network, probably with 5 tries to unlock.
Ebay has a seller charging £12. (+ £0 for online SIM or £2 for SIM from a Voda store)
Vodafone charge £20.
So I am going the Voda route, for the warranty. As I bought from them the Sales of Goods Act put the onus on them and I don't want them to complaint that the phone was unlocked.
Rather than buying a BigBundle SIM, I got a data freebie, so the data is IN ADDITION to the Top-up and thus the top-up can be used to pay for the unlock - after 30 days...
So quicker and cheaper via eBay (though some M5 users report these sellers cannot always find the code [most will give a refund]) but legit via Vodafone not much more time or cost.
Hi Everyone,
I've seen some posts about unlocking this but I'm curious as to whether I can unlock a T-Mobile branded phone purchased outright that has never been activated.
What have you all found to be the easiest way to unlock it? I've already reached out to TM via FB to no avail.
Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks!
Bootloader unlock is done via Motorola. To unlock your device for all carriers you must actively use the phone for 7 days. If you can't unlock it yourself after 7 days using the builtin app, then go in to a store. They can call in and help get it unlocked, but only after you've used the phone for 7 days.

Ok, that is my question.
The phone is brand new - no sim. I'm trying to get it to a prepaid wireless service and need it unlocked to do so. What you're saying is that I would need to activate it for 7 days for the bootloader to work, correct?
Tmobile themselves offer unlocking but only after 40 days of service which is a no go in my current situation.
Thanks again for any help. No other programs or apps out there that can unlock it more quickly without the amount of work?
You guys are awesome!

No. You are matching the two things together. Let me be a little bit simpler about this. All use different paragraph so you don't get confused.
BOOTLOADER unlock can be done about 1 minute after you buy the phone. You contact Motorola directly. Search this forum and you'll get tons of information on it
CARRIER Unlocking a T-Mobile phone to be able to use with any carrier can be done after 7 Days of use on a T-Mobile plan. If they recently bumped it up to 40 and that's what customer service told you, then go with that. I've been with them for a few years now and only needed 7 days, but then I was in the store working with one of the sales people and they called in about it. I may have gotten special consideration given the amount of time my wife has had an account with T-Mobile, but I did a carrier unlock after only 7 days.

I picked up a New tmo z2 force and started it with prepaid. The prepaid balance has to be at least 100$ and active for 14 days before they will unlock it.

Is that T-Mobile specific prepaid?

Yes. Tmo prepaid
Also that's what the tmo rep told me. I still have like 10 days to wait...so I'll report back when it's done
Decided to call and try my luck with another rep. They escalated the unlock for me and did it with the hour.
Unlock app says permanently unlocked now!
You don't need to have it 7 days or whatever. Buy the phone full price, insert the tmobile sim, boot up and carrier unlock right away with the unlock app. Bootloader unlock is with motorola. That's it.
First, you need to activate your phone with a T-Mobile SIM card (you don't need to possess the SIM card, you can even borrow one for a few minutes) and a non-T-Mobile SIM to check if the phone is network locked.
You can check by following these steps:
1. Insert the “non-accepted SIM card” on the phone (Please check if your new SIM Card is activated, if not contact your Mobile Operator in order to activate it).
2. Wait for the phone to load
3. Insert the SIM’s PIN code (4 digits), if asked.
4. Read the message your phone displays, if you need the unlock code or to unlock via the Device Unlock App.
Mod Edit
Based on the message you have, you can contact T-Mobile again and ask them to unlock. Or you can use a third party unlocking service.

This doesnt work.. It says unlock failed.. tried permanent and temporary. Tmobile says theres an unpaid balance but the phones imei is not lost or stolen. The way to request an unlock is the previous owner and the imei # has to make a request. ugh and theres some dude who says he can do it for a fee (clean the imei) im trying to use this on metro and cannot because of the whole tmobile unpaid balance bullcrap
Correct me if I'm wrong. No T-Mobile phone is eligible for unlock unless it's paid off in full and remained on the network for 45 days after. I've unlocked plenty of them after they were paid off and this was almost always the case.
I unlocked my bootloader right after getting my phone. It's not paid off, as I upgraded via JUMP.

Thinking the OP is talking about carrier unlock.
Check what your IMEI's status is in the T-Mobile network with their service here: https://www.t-mobile.com/verifyIMEI.aspx
Note that if the result doesn't with "Congratulations..." you might not be able to unlock your phone.

Ah, got it. It's tricky when "unlock" has multiple meanings, lol! In that case, no, you can't carrier unlock until your phone is paid off
I posted a similar question before I realised there was a thread already on this topic. Can anybody confirm that if you buy a tmo version from Motorola, then what are the conditions for having it unlocked? Is it $100 credit balance (for me that would add $100 to the cost) or immediately on insertion of a TMO SIM or some other conditions? Does anybody have any experiences they can report? Thanks
I can tell you I just tried getting a tmobile variant unlocked (375 outright, I have AT&T) and had a buddy with a tmobile account make the purchase and put his active sim in it and they would not unlock it. Stated it had to be on tmobile network for 40 days. He called multiple times and argued it's already paid off but they wouldn't budge. So I returned it. Had to eat a 50 fee for returning it. I chalk it to a lesson learned.
I was going to buy the phone from the Motorola website for $500 so $375 is a good deal. The problem is while I have a tmobile SIM card on a prepaid account I don't live in the US and while I'm travelling there soon I won't be on the network for 40 days. so I guess it won't be unlockable while I'm there and certainly not once I'm gone.
I wonder what the unlocking Services online are like? Has anybody had any experiences to relate

There is also a temp unlock through the unlock app. Still fully sim unlocked but for only a short time. Then if you do come back to the US for 40+ days you can try for the permanent unlock.

OK _ just got off both a phone call and chat session with TMO support. Basically the phone has to be on their network for 2 billing cycles and then you can call them to unlock it. That applies even apparently to the $3/month plan. I do have somebody who could do that but they would have to send the phone to me and I am not sure you can do that with its LiOn battery inside.
