[Q] T-Mobile UK unlock code for HTC One X? - HTC One X

Hi people.
Just bought myself a HTC One X locked onto T-Mobile network.
I want to use it on Orange UK.
Anyone know if the SIM unlock codes are available?
Every site I go to advise me that the codes aren't available yet.
Is there another way of being able to use my orange SIM with the HTC One X?
Thanks

There are people selling the codes on Ebay, and there is a Tread (closed though) of people who have successfully used these services: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613613&highlight=unlock+code
Check ebay though as they are some for as cheap as £4.

Nice one gaiden, I'll give it a go.
Thanks for help.
A novice like me needs all that I can get!!

Aaaah, just realised why I'm struggling. Apparently the phone has to be at least one month old for IMEI to be registered on server. That means the waiting game......

Cant you just phone tMobile and ask them for a subsidy pin ?

ermmm tmobile and orange are the same company.... is the card being rejected out right?, i can switch between orange and tmobile with no problems with my tmobile card, and my wife has a locked wildfire s to tmobile that happily runs a orange card.

Yeah tmo and orange are now the same network. You shouldnt need to unlock for this.

That is the exact reason why I bought the phone, thinking Orange & T-Mobile have merged into one.
The thing is they share their network coverage but they are still two seperate companies. This was confirmed by Orange UK. And T-Mobile won't deal with me because I don't have an account with them.
So I need to find someone who does have one, or set one up (which I don't want to do).
All the official HTC Unlock sites don't seem to have code available and give me a refund straight away. I'm going to try a couple from EBay this morning to see if they're any better.

T-Mobile will only unlock a handset that is registered to the account. I.e purchased with the number at the same time, as imei's are linked.

What method did you try ?
the ebay unlocking method worked fine for my t-mobile phone,

Unlock codes!?
Am I missing something,
If you flash an RUU rom surely that will unlock it?
I presume using Ebay Unlocking techniques also risk voiding warrenty?

Flashing a custom ROM does NOT SIM unlock the phone. Unlike unlocking/rooting, SIM unlocking does not void your warranty.

I've used HTC SIM Unlock before and they always been to work. They have a money back guarantee as well. Never trust those unlockers on eBay. I've been scammed too many times. http://www.htcsimunlock.com/#oid=1096_1

Your other option could be to get a PAYG sim card and call them from that. They might unlock it for you as you would have an account with them then?

I never thought of that, ie, getting a PAYG SIM card. Should have done that! Anyways, after many unsuccessful attempts in getting the phone unlocked (the number of refunds I got on my Paypal, I had numerous security checks on my card!), I eventually got hold of the person I bought the phone off. He's kindly got in touch with T-Mobile UK, and for £15-32, they'll unlock it for me. It will take between 10-28 days, so I'm expecting it to come through some time this week at the earliest. I know it may be dear, but I also know they will be able to unlock it, as its their network.
Anyways, thanks for all the help guys!

I just unlocked my one x at unlockcode4u.com and as I made a video they just refunded me, so eventually I didnt pay anything.
My HTC one X is the best phone ever

Can't get my Desire unlocked?

I wanted to debrand, but apparently debranding locks Orange UK phones or does it?
Anyway tried HTCUnlock.com/Unlockingonline.com
Got the following.
The reason why your order could not be processed is as follows:
VERY NEW HTC HANDSET - PLEASE UPGRADE SERVICE
The scammers even though it was advertised as £12.99, they want me to order again this time paying £29
So the next one I tried,
HTCCode.com
Something similar, they could not unlock.
Anyone any ideas? I don't really need it unlocked as would be using on Orange anyway but wouldn't want to be locked out.

When did you purchase the code from HTCCODE? Our database was updated on the 28th July and thereafter we have codes for all HTC Desire.
I suggest you take a look at this thread :
http://www.htccode.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2187
I bought a Desire for my girlfriend yesterday and I've unlocked it at http://www.htcimeiunlock.com/htc-desire-unlock
I payed $25 on the new database because I was in a hurry and didn't wanted to wait and see if the code can be found in the standard database first($16).

I had the same thing with my week old desire (tried unlocking the day after getting it). They said that I could do a more expensive search that would probably work, however they suggested just waiting for HTC to release the new database.
It all depends on when your phone was manufactured and what database update will include your code.

Nope. Not with mine anyway and also LennyUK is running custom firmware on his orange locked Desire.
The only things to be careful of is the HBOOT version and also make sure you flash the correct radio.
I've tested 5.09.00.08 and 5.09.00.20 and they both work with my phone.
Telus
I used htcimeiunlock.com. They tell from the start the price for each search options ($15 and $24).
Mine was $15.
why are you all paying for unlocking???
Is it possible to do it without paying?
You can try asking your provider for the unlock code, I think they charge 15 pounds.
Right now there is no free way to unlock the new htc devices.

[Q] Limited Service at different sim than T-Mobile (IS my phone locked?)

Hi,
I have bought HTC Desire (New) from eBay and seller said that he got it from T-Mobile and he don't know if it is unlocked or not. The thing is that from all topics I went throught it always says that if my phone is locked and I put different sim there then I will be prompted at boot to put code. I have tried with different sims (Vodafone, o2) but I have no such code input. Now I am using T-Mobile some cheap card and everything works but when using another card it gives me LIMITED Service Warning and no signal. It cannot register to any network as well. Any ideas if I should go and try to unlock it via some codes or it is unlocked already but I have to rebrand it?
Thank You,
Golotap
I was at Police/Vodafone/T-Mobile/T-Mobile/Another T-Mobile and everyone says this phone has been blacklisted in UK this is why it has such problem ._. so now I am just sending it back to Ebay seller.
Thank You,
Golotap
The amount of people buying from eBay and having problems is unreal. Go buy it from a retailer sicne your guaranteed it actually works.
The problem is money, normal phones are just too expensive for me so many people are just going to eBay.

[Q] O2 locked PAYG Xperia ARC. Can root solve this?

Hello, i have googled and searched all the threads but to no avail so decided to post another NooB thread!
I bought My arc from O2 on PAYG knowing full well that it was sim locked to this network. Having previously owned a HD2 i thought i could easily install a Open romm on it and it would cure the sim lock on it.
Upon looking into how to go about this i have seen threads on rooting but am unsure weather i will be able to do this on the 02 ROM that is installed on this. is it just a case of following the root guide then finding a general ROM for uk?
to summarise i just want to take the sim lock of so i can put my virgin sim card in and update to the latest android.
Thanks in advance
What happens when you put your Virgin sim in? O2 phones are usually sim-unlocked anyway, but no, rooting or debranding won't remove the lock.
Thanks for the quick reply
It just asks for a sim network unlock pin to enter.
i know i can request this but was told in the shop that i would have to have the phone for a year with O2 before i could do this. I should have just spent 50 pound more and got it sim free. i really thought that i could have worked a way around this though!
Any ideas?

Unfortunately, I have found with the Xperia Arc that it was a pain to get it unlocked. For the Orange San Francisco Android phone, someone at Modaco provided a free app that gives you your unlock code when you type in the IEMI number. Easy. On other phones, you often see codes for sale on auction sites, etc.
With the Arc, it seems it isn't anywhere near that easy or quick. In the end I had to get a refund from one online provider because they couldn't get the code (using their cheaper method - and I wasn't willing to pay for their more expensive service). In the end I used cellunlocker.net for a decent price, but it wasn't a pleasant experience from the point of view of not getting any updates on how long it would take (just kept getting told that it would be soon). However, in the end they did email the code and it did work - it just took about 2 weeks
this is what i found out online for you !!
Welcome to O2. Someone will be with you soon.
You're through to Ashton.
Ashton: Hi I'm Ashton. How can I help?
me: hi , i have a pay and go xperia arc and would like it unlocked , how long do i have to have the phone for and how much would it cost ?
Ashton: You've to use the phone on the O2 network for 12 months and then you can get it unlocked for a charge of £15.
pity ur not on contract as they do it straight away for free
Thanks for your replys. I thought it would be just a case of using a workround to install a generic rom and in turn this would take the sim lock off! I may jusy return the phone and buy a sim free version for a bit more. Cheers peeps.

There a guide here detailing how to debrand your Arc.

[Q] Open to all networks?

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question - if I follow all the steps to root my One X, does this mean it is open to all networks? I remember rooting my Desire, and installing a custom ROM, but I had to run another tool before I sold it on to someone on a different network...

Nope. Rooting doesn't remove the SIM/network lock.
Thank you for the reply Tiersten. Is there a way of removing the SIM/network lock? There are a few websites which want to charge in the region of £20 for an "unlock code". The phone I have is O2 branded, but I want to use my Orange SIM. Do I have to pay for a code?
HTC are offering unlock for a few quid, there's a thread in here probably a few pages back.
If I follow the procedure from XDA TV, unlocking the bootloader through HTCDEV, install CWM recovery, unlock and root stock rom from the XDA thread, flash the Leedroid Super SU, then (finally) the Leedroid ROM - has this removed any SIM lock and/or branding?

No unless there is a tool in the dev section that specifically design to unlock the sim lock. Root and flashing custom rom does not remove the lock on O2. If you bought the One X 2nd hand then either get the seller to go to O2 and get it unlocked for you as it is still linked to his contract or you will need a 3rd Party to do it.

Its not HTC. Its somebody on eBay for £1.44. Looks like it is legitimate though as quite a lot of people have said it worked for them.
I can confirm its legit, got it unlocked within 20 mins yesterday. You fill in the form at the bottom of the description.
BTW if you're an o2 pay monthly customer o2 unlock it for free
if you pay over $600 for the phone, then there is no reason why it should cost money to unlock it. now, if you bought it cheap with a plan through a carrier, then i can see why they would charge you. i wouldn't tolerate that nonsense. i paid 619.99 and if my ATT sim doesn't work, they are going to make it work if they want to keep me in contract. sometimes, all you have to do is get mad at the manager and make a scene. ;p
Thanks everyone for the help. I got in touch with O2, and as the phone was supplied with a business bundle, they unlocked the phone free of charge. I was provided with the phone by my company, but as they don't allow personal use of the company phone, I wanted to use my personal Orange plan out of company hours. O2, by the way, were very helpful!

If you've not got it from a carrier then it'll be SIM-free anyway so will work with any SIM in the first place

[Q] SIM Unlock Code fails...any options ?

Hi guys,
I have an M8 now..I'm happy well almost....had to send it back and whilst it was being fixed I thought I'd get my One X out and use the sim in that. Unfortunately I'd moved from Orange to Vodafone when I upgraded to the M8 so my vodafone SIM didn't want to work in the Orange UK One X.
Easy I thought...I went online and got the unlock code....which didn't work. Luckily the site refunded me he 10 quid and I tried another site...this one cost 15 quid so I thought I'd get a 'better' code Unfortunately, it was the same code...only £5 more expensive....luckily, they refunded me also.
So...I called Orange...and despite having since moved to Vodafone and no longer having a contract with them they agreed to provide the unlock code for free.....yes you guessed it....same code as the 2 online providers....
So...I took it to a shop who tried a 'different' database...which produced..you guessed it...the same code so he took it away and said he suspected the wrong code had been entered too many times which is why the code wasn't working...he was going to try reset the counter to enable the code to be entered...but after a long while...no luck.
I then spoke to HTC who were also very helpful and checked the IMEI which showed them that the unit had been in for repair...no sh*t I said....I had no less than 5 HTC One X's as I ran in to every documented hardware issue there was.....anyway he said....it may be the unit's IMEI got changed and the unlock code no longer matches.....
So that's where I'm at.....I fully own this One X having paid my dues to Orange...I had to put up with 5 faults...and I'm left with a phone that I effectively still have to pay Orange for...
Are there any options open to me ?
Is there a way to unlock it if I root it ?
are HTC able to unlock it ?
thanks,
Ant.

You don't need to pay anyone if you get in touch with orange and as for sim unlock code you should get it free if you've had the handset with them for over 6 month.
Just seen the rest of message have you tried taking it into a orange shop to let them unlock it for you
Are you running a stock ROM? I just ordered an unlock code for my Canadian Rogers One X. Didn't want to start flashing custom ROMs until I got it unlocked.
