[Q] I can not unlock my Arc S - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recent bought a Arc S from someone on kijiji (according to him, this phone is locked to Canada rogers), and when I started the phone, it shows the Rogers logo as well.
the problem is, this phone does not work with rogers sim card, it displays
“This sim card cannot register with this network”, if I insert others like bell or telus, it will request a unlock code.
first, I went to rogers store, they found out this phone warrenty expires at June 28th of 2013, which is wierd, then they told me they could not fix it because I didnt buy it from rogers store.
So I bought one unlock code from "cellunlocker.net" and trying to use it on another network, however it failed again, told me code is wrong!
I have contacted with "cellunlocker.net" about this, they insist this is right code and can not do anything about it
what can I do now?
can anyone give me an advice before I throw it away or sell it as defect phone?
thanx

[Q] Limited Service at different sim than T-Mobile (IS my phone locked?)

Hi,
I have bought HTC Desire (New) from eBay and seller said that he got it from T-Mobile and he don't know if it is unlocked or not. The thing is that from all topics I went throught it always says that if my phone is locked and I put different sim there then I will be prompted at boot to put code. I have tried with different sims (Vodafone, o2) but I have no such code input. Now I am using T-Mobile some cheap card and everything works but when using another card it gives me LIMITED Service Warning and no signal. It cannot register to any network as well. Any ideas if I should go and try to unlock it via some codes or it is unlocked already but I have to rebrand it?
Thank You,
Golotap
I was at Police/Vodafone/T-Mobile/T-Mobile/Another T-Mobile and everyone says this phone has been blacklisted in UK this is why it has such problem ._. so now I am just sending it back to Ebay seller.
Thank You,
Golotap
The amount of people buying from eBay and having problems is unreal. Go buy it from a retailer sicne your guaranteed it actually works.
The problem is money, normal phones are just too expensive for me so many people are just going to eBay.

[Q] carrier unlock "issue"

Okay I'll try to keep this as short and sweet as possible. I purchased an at&t xperia play, and then purchased an unlock code from eBay and popped my tmobile sim card in, entered the code, and it came up with a message similar to "network unlock successful". I got tired of the phone so I threw it back on eBay. The lady that purchased the phone is now claiming I sold her a phone that was locked to at&t, and wanting a full refund. She's saying when she boots it up it says "out of area" with her sim card. Am I wrong to assume that if the phone "wasn't unlocked" it would ask for a network unlock code when she booted it up with her sim just like it did when I inserted my tmobile sim? I naturally expected the unlock code I purchased to work like every other code I've purchased, and permanently unlock the device? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

That sounds true to me. Honestly there are some very ignorant people purchasing items on ebay. just a few days ago i got a message for a wii game that I sold, she claimed it didnt work and wanted a refund. The next day the told me that that AV CORDS WEREN'T PLUGED IN!!! You never know the lady could have the sim installed upside down.

Is there any way to identify the original carrier of note 2?

I bought a second-hand note 2 on ebay, this guy tell me it's rogers phone, but it requires unlock code when i put in my rogers sim card. So i figured that this is not a rogers phone, and i need to unlock it. The problem is that, i can't get contact to the seller, and buy an unlock code on ebay requires information about the original carrier, or it will cost like $40. There is no carrier's boot up logo, nor carrier's custom apps, so is there any way i can identify the carrier? Thanks!
Not sure about finding the network but GalaxSim Unlock on the play store unlocked my phone (originally new and locked to o2 UK, but I was going abroad so needed to unlock it quickly to use a local foreign SIM).
Wasn't free but for a few £ it did the job. Does the box reveal anything about the network? Not that it'll help get your SIM working... I'd be unlocking and then flashing a rom/wiping the caches to make sure it was clean.

Bought unlock code and found out my phone is unlocked

Just wondering if GPE ruu does anything to unlock the m8? I bought this phone used a few months back, from the original owner as far as I knew. They advertised it as locked to Telus.... Who I am with anyways. So I bought it to use on Telus.
Recently I paid off my device balance to switch to VoIP on a $45 a month 5gb data plan. Bell has the same thing for $40 so I thought about switching. Decided to unlock my phone so I could do whatever I wanted whenever so I bought the unlock code on cellunlocker.net. I didn't use it for several weeks. Aide I've stuck with Telus.
Tonight I decided I better unlock it in case the code didn't work, so I stuck my girlfriends bell sim card in out of her iPhone.... Waited for it to ask me for the unlock code. It didn't ask so I went in and searched for networks. Bell popped up and I selected it, bam I have service with Bell. Apparently my phone is not locked and I paid $16 for nothing.
I'm just curious, did the previous owner forget that she unlocked the phone or did the GPE ruu do something to unlock it?
