Can't Change APN settings "access point names are not available for this user" - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can't Change APN settings "access point names are not available for this user"
Hi,
I have a carrier unlocked HTC One M8, and when I switched back from CM to my stock sense ROM (installed it from a RUU.exe). I get the messagge "access point names are not available for this user" whenever I try to change my APN settings.
I tried getting root and then deleting /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db*, but didn't work.
I was thinking it could be an issue with the stock rom, so I converted my HTC One to a GPE 6.0, but I get the exact same error on this ROM.
Has anyone solved an issue like this one?

I'm also having issues with this. I installed 6.0 GPe with RUU conversion and my cellular data is not working. I read it could be an APN issue but I also can't change the settings, tried a bunch of things like resetting the phone with wifi only on etc but nothing's working.

If you restore the default apn settings, it doesn't work? Why u want add other apn settings?
Anyway check the apn type, the one u want use should be named "default" i think.

[Q] Sense 3.5 and 3.0 rom help

Hi whenever i flash any sense rom besides 2.1 my data never works. My APN is always set i have double and triple checked my apn with my sisters phone and they are the same. When ever i try to use data i get "Access to this url is blocked"
Someone please help thanks
this is the message i get
If you're confident that your APN settings are correct, then my next guess would be to contact your Carrier to check if they are preventing your data plan from being used or if content protection or parental controls have been enabled for your line.
try an no sense rom still the same prob?

[Q] APN Settings not available?

After successfully installing the latest ARHD for my GNex, I noticed I had no mobile connection at all (I'm with Telus). The FAQ for ARHD said to check APN settings, which is fine I remember having to input them manually on a friend's Desire HD (Telus) after installing the rom. For some reason, APN setting aren't even visible in my mobile network menu. What am I missing guys? Any insight would be awesome!

[q] htc desire 816 (vm) mms....

Hey, I have a HTC Desire 816 (US) for Virgin Mobile. I like the Google Messenger and Hangouts app however I can't seem to send or receive MMS for either app. The stock Messages app works just fine. I've done some research and it appears I need to look into my APN settings. However, I have no idea how to get to those on the phone. The directions that are given lead to know where. Can anybody tell me how to fix this. Thank you.
You probably need to download an app from the play store, I think the one I used for CyanogenMod was called Change APN. Just opens the APN menu for you. Also, the one site I found with Virgin Mobile US APN details had it wrong. But if you're on CM 12, their pre-set APN for VM is correct, you just need to select it in the menu. For the Sense-based ROMs, they don't seem to have it by default.

Thanks for trying to help. I am currently on stock rom and it appears that Virgin Mobile has the APN on lock down. I have not found a way changing it and getting it to work. Everytime I try to add a new apn with CHANGE APN app it says saved but doesn't add it. The one that's in there has a locked symbol on it. It could be because I am on stock rom. However I am rooted and S-Off, I still can't change it. I haven't tried CyanogenMod because I want a fully functional phone. Anybody else have any ideas. All I want to do is use hangout or google messenger with MMS and it work. I think it stupid that its included on the phone and it's not even fully functional. I can get chompsms to work but it has it's own apn settings.

That's interesting cause I personally use hangouts and am also on stock and rooted with s off and it works fine for me. What kind of error is it giving you? Is it immediately failing or failing after trying to send for awhile?

Unable to get LTE Data - Modified Stock ROM

Hello, I am running a Sprint Note 4 with the following ROM -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-sprint/development/rom-stock-pg1-bloated-deodexed-t3447044
It is, as the name says, a DeOdexed PG1 version of Marshmallow.
I activated this device today with Sprint. After doing so, I was able to do calling and texting immediately, but I am unable to access LTE mobile data. If I go to my data settings and switch the setting to "CDMA", I am able to obtain 3G. But if I switch it to Automatic or LTE/CDMA -- I get no data whatsoever (The bars icon shows an ! in the bottom right).
I have no idea what could be causing this and could use some assistance.
check your apn settings are correct.
I can't modify my APN settings. When I try to do so, they immediately revert to the stock APN settings. This includes trying to add new ones--they just disappear.
What would cause this?
So I'm fairly certain the issue is related to the inability to update my APN settings. What would I do to remedy this? I can't modify the APN settings. When I try to, the settings don't stick.
