Hi guys would disabling bloatware help with battery performance. I have seen people say they have improved their SOT by a good margin. So all i want to know is how do i disable all the bloatware to get amazing battety life?
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
Root, then install Titanium Backup and freeze the apps you don't want
I dont want to root the device. Im using battery saving mode from 100% to full discharge. However, i only get around 3 to 3.5hrs SOT. This is poor performance coming from 3000mah battery. On samsung devices you can use debloater without rooting device. How can i manage to do that to my G4

Sorry, no other way but root first

Ohk i thought there might be a way. Samsung users can do it without rooting. I dont want to root my phone because its still under warranty.

I root my G4 at 1 day of purchase. If anything go wrong I need to have warranty service, I simply unroot it without any track! So warranty is not my concern at all.

There is no such program. You need root privileges to remove system applications. That is true for any modern operating system.
However you can disable a lot of applications in Settings -> Apps, which has for the most part the same effect.

Anyway Android M will not be much difference with Android L. As an early bird to upgrade may not be better off. If rooted, I will follow the route using download mode to install 6.0 IMG or using TWRP to flash 6.0 IMG.

I rooted my Optimus G, then applied the update. I lost root, but I simply used the same method again and I got root again np So doesn't look like it will hurt to apply it.

I am getting pretty good battery life.. I rooted it right away so I can't compare before and after though.
I'm currently on 4.3 stock rooted 0x0 flag. I'm curious about KK but heard about a HUGE flaw with apps not able to write to external sd card...Therefore rendering them practically useless.
I'm assuming I shouldn't update ota and instead flash. But what will I need? And has the sd card issue been fixed?
I'm just looking for something more stable and a little slicker. Would like to stay tw or stock/ stock debloated.

Since you haven't pulled the trigger yet, like me, I would hold off a little longer and wait to see what 4.4.3 brings us. It is just rumored right now but it is supposed to be a bug fix release. From what I have gathered, you really aren't missing anything big by not being on KitKat. I have had the itch to go ahead an upgrade too but I am going to wait to see when 4.4.3 is likely to hit us first.
in my humble opinion....
NO!!!!!!!!
So if I get any urges to want to change things up I should stay on 4.3?
I'm still debating breaking knox or not. I never plan to use knox and haven't decided if I plan to trade this in for jump or not. I'm loving the battery life and have no gripes but minor hiccups.

Why are people telling me not to then? I thought the sd issue was the only issue with KK
Sent from my SM-N900T using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
A lot of people are having problems with KK. If they have rooted, the SDcard issue is not one of them since there is a fix for it. if you don' t have root, then it is a problem with no fix.
I'm one of the minority. Rooted Stock 4.42 with no real issues. Battery is fine, SDcard is fine, WiFi is good etc...
Oh so those got it pre installed have issues but those who flash while rooted are fine.
Would you say you notice any stability or noteworthy features over 4.3?

Yes. Absolutely no problems on stock rooted KK. Flash wicked and its even better.

I didn't say that.
I was rooted before on 4.43 however, keeping root was not an option when I did the update. I used Odin to flash 4.42 and re-rooted (triggered Knox), loaded the sdcard fix and loaded TWRP in the process.
I was not having any issues on 4.43 though. KK got me better battery usage and access to new software.
If you are rooted, you can apply the sdcard fix. If you are not rooted, I don't think there it's a fix for that.

Since you are still on 4.3, you can easily root using Kingo or de la vega method without triggering knox.
After that, upgrading to 4.4.2 is very easy and you still have root and warranty.
If you don't care about knox, then you can just update and use Chainfire to root 4.4.2 (knox warranty void). It is pretty simple.
I have 4.4.2, root (from my previous rooted 4.3) and warranty intact + SD fix and xposed mods. The phone is just amazing now.

The only issues I've heard due to the kitkat update are terrible battery life and the SD card issue. There's a flashable zip to fix the SD card issue and I believe installing the Foldermount app does some kind of fix. The battery life issue seems to be fixed after a simple factory reset, however, you'd have to root the device like others have stated. My phone runs great on KK. I'm getting awesome battery life and I have not experienced any problems whatsoever.
You can get improved battery life on 4.3 by removing bloat, and there's no need to apply a fix so you can use the sdcard normally. Is there any real improvement in 4.4.2?
Frank

Does anyone have any issues recording video with KK? I updated the just the modem (running Slimkat) and can't record videos or sometimes can't play youtube videos in HD. It's not a rom issues. Might go to stock KK and than try reinstalling everything.

Funny, me too. I still have my og Evo 4g. Have you noticed any difference in battery life compared to 4.3? I have root and knox In-tact and apparently it's easy to upgrade...but I don't want worse battery life.
Sent from my SM-N900T using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You won't have worse battery life bud. I'm pretty sure that will be rom and kernel related. Theirs like 4 to 5 kit Kat toms out their now. All good. All different, over in the international forum the rom that made me go to kitkat was XNOTE v11. Was a great rom but build international of course, hyperdrive is great one too good battery life I can't complain. Lean kernel will save the most battery
Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
Alright I'll have to do some digging and find a flash able rom...and finish my root by breaking knox finally and flashing a recovery.
As easy as it makes things, I'm worried to break knox. Not because of warranty. Lol I know tmo doesn't give 2 ****s about root...
My concern is when I want to sell the device, maybe retaining knox flag will help increase the price point.
This phone is a powerhouse. Easily able to last for the next few years until EoD. Throw In the obvious office features and a still working knox (albeit being able to be reset at samsung warehouses (I'd cite the info but I'm not in front of my desktop)) who wouldn't want this phone for work?
Thoughts?

Can someone explain how this will work? are the games rendered at 2560*1440 or is it 1920*1080 scaled? or is it up to the game developers how this works?
I like the LG G3 but I'm a little concerned about the extreme resolution and how it will effect gaming performance, I'm probably worrying about nothing and Android has a way of handling this but I want to be sure.
Thanks in Advance.

The games with 1080P Resolutions will run on 1080P resolution itself. Its like watching a 720P movie on a 1080P display. Unless they come up with the new Quad HD [xxxhdpi] trend.

Okay, so it sounds like games are upscaled somehow or the internal target resolution still remains 1080p?
How about emulators like N64 or PS, if they have no option to set resolution will they be forced to use 2560*1440 when going fullscreen?

as long as t-mo doesn't pull the stunt they did with g2 then you would be able to root g3 on t-mo
So on the g2 t-mo released there variant on 10c we had easy root access and it was easily exploitable for loki usage; fast forward about 8 months to the killer kitkat update for the g2 it took the devs exactly 6 days to figure out a workaround to use loki but 13 days total because we needed the source from lg(they slowed us down), fast forward to late April early May the ls980 finally got kitkat and autoprime(awesome dev) figured out a way to root using the stock recovery and shared it with the community and suddeny there were a lot of reports that the d801 t-mo variant was not being rooted, that there devices were being wiped and it turns out that for some reason t-mo removed access to the stock recovery, it was still there but it was only there for the factory reset option and so root was not and still is not possible on the t-mo g2 all the t-mo users need to downgrade to 4.2 root and either update to kk and hope root survives for those without supersu pro that had survival mode or downgrade to 4.2 root/custom recovery and then install a flashable 4.4 rom for there variants
so if you read my mini rant I suggest you wait until after the g3 is released on t-mo and we have more available information
Hi I was just wondering about the Verizon version of this tablet SM-T807. I just got this one from VZW, and I've searched everywhere to try and understand what root methods are available and it's proving to be kind of confusing. I've rooted all my phone's for the past 4-5 yrs Droid, several Samsungs, LG..and have never had to ask a question on any of the threads here...I have plenty of experience using Odin, ADB...etc and alot of other tools. But everything I find seems to be for the 800, 805, or 807 for Sprint and ATT. The Verizon rep started the lollipop upgrade before I left the store, so I hadn't been able to try the unified tool or any other possible methods since I need to downgrade to KitKat to make it all alot easier. So I guess my question is, is there any method that may work for my tab now that's running 5.0.2, and if not is there an Odin-able image for the VZW variant to flash back to stock? I just keep reading conflicting info from different places and don't wanna brick it beyond repair. Thanks for any help.

That rep has just killed any chance you had of getting root.
There are no other root methods available for your device.
I don't think the Verizon tablet has root for KitKat either?
I started looking into this last night also since I'm considering Verizon as my next carrier.
That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for the reply.

Well when you come up with the bootloader unlocking method you'll be a hero.
I wish this could be downgraded to kitkat, the lollipop on t807v is causing problems with my touch screen and I have read a lot of comments from users facing a touchscreen problem after the upgrade. Lets pray its sooner !
Thanks

It can't be rooted without a system exploit.
It took 2 years to exploit the verizon note 4, shouldnt be much longer on the 807V

Why do you care about tripping Knox? It doesn't do anything unless your phone is managed. Knox is good for companies that manage your phone so you can isolate company usage from personal usage. Otherwise it just sits there and does nothing. The only reason Knox complains when you root your phone is that it's no longer secure for being managed.
If you're ever in a situation where your company wants to manage your phone, just re-flash unrooted stock, and Knox will work again.
Technically, you're breaking your contract by flashing your phone, but as far as I know, nobody ever checks that at trade-in time.
