Can someone explain how this will work? are the games rendered at 2560*1440 or is it 1920*1080 scaled? or is it up to the game developers how this works?
I like the LG G3 but I'm a little concerned about the extreme resolution and how it will effect gaming performance, I'm probably worrying about nothing and Android has a way of handling this but I want to be sure.
Thanks in Advance.

The games with 1080P Resolutions will run on 1080P resolution itself. Its like watching a 720P movie on a 1080P display. Unless they come up with the new Quad HD [xxxhdpi] trend.

Okay, so it sounds like games are upscaled somehow or the internal target resolution still remains 1080p?
How about emulators like N64 or PS, if they have no option to set resolution will they be forced to use 2560*1440 when going fullscreen?

as long as t-mo doesn't pull the stunt they did with g2 then you would be able to root g3 on t-mo
So on the g2 t-mo released there variant on 10c we had easy root access and it was easily exploitable for loki usage; fast forward about 8 months to the killer kitkat update for the g2 it took the devs exactly 6 days to figure out a workaround to use loki but 13 days total because we needed the source from lg(they slowed us down), fast forward to late April early May the ls980 finally got kitkat and autoprime(awesome dev) figured out a way to root using the stock recovery and shared it with the community and suddeny there were a lot of reports that the d801 t-mo variant was not being rooted, that there devices were being wiped and it turns out that for some reason t-mo removed access to the stock recovery, it was still there but it was only there for the factory reset option and so root was not and still is not possible on the t-mo g2 all the t-mo users need to downgrade to 4.2 root and either update to kk and hope root survives for those without supersu pro that had survival mode or downgrade to 4.2 root/custom recovery and then install a flashable 4.4 rom for there variants
so if you read my mini rant I suggest you wait until after the g3 is released on t-mo and we have more available information

The Galaxy S7 will be out by the time 4.2.1 gets to us.
The problem with the 4.1.2 update has multiwindow. We have a different processor in US phones which is making it difficult to get multiwindow to work properly. Im not saying its impossible but I feel like that is the hold up with US carriers. And it may even be they end up releasing 4.1.2 without multiwindow because of it.....

Im speaking from what ive learned from trying to port over the note 2 rom. It has a exynos processor and our US version does not. Im not sure what the note 1 has as far as it having the same processor as our s3. But I would love to try and port it once released and see if it would work.

ps I'm running galaxymod 14.1 without issue so just because you haven't been able to get multiwindow working in no way means it is not possible.

Synergy ROM in the development section has Multiwindow. I tried it yesterday and it worked great...although a few other issues made me switch back. I don't think the processor is the issue.
Definitely not the power of our phones the grand had all around less specs and it's coming with multi window.

Synergy is a Verizon or Sprint base one I cant remember which. And im not saying its impossible for us to have multiwindow what im saying is it will need to be totally reworked to run on our phone as we have a dual core processor and the note 2 has quad core.
And I believe the different processor or maybe the kernel has a lot to do with why you haven't seen a ATT based note 2 port. Ive been working on one for quite sometime now and can only get it to partially work. So its not impossible but its not as easy as you may think and thats why I think its taking US carriers longer....

Hey guys thinking of upgrading to this phone and I love the look, feel, and features of this phone, but it doesn't look like you guys have much going on in the way of development? I'd be coming from the Samsung Infuse, so I'm a bit spoiled, when the phone was newer lots of developers were building and porting custom roms, and currently there are about 4 variations of updated (Android 4.1+) roms in development. Currently I'm on Beanstalk for the Infuse (android 4.3) which is a great rom with tons of customization.
I wouldn't mind learning and developing myself but with the apparent shortness of developers this could be slow going. Am I missing something here, is there just not a lot of development because this is a relatively new device, or is it a hard or impossible device to hack?

I came from the note 1 so I know the feeling...but I gotta tell you the stock software is really that good...I don't really miss any of my custom roms I use to run..the only thing I do miss is my theme on the theme engine.
Once cm10 gets closer we may see more since most roms are based off it but who knows.
I wouldn't expect development like what you're use to but like I said I don't miss it at all..
Hopefully the Nexus 5 will have a 5" screen like the rumors suggest and I can finally get a nexus device.
Yeah there a cm10.1 thats almost a daily. Pretty much everything works just a few bugs. There are repositories for a slimbean 4.3 on github but idk how far along that is as there been no release. And over in android forums there a guy working on a stock debloated deodexed rom and the bootloaders only been bypassed for a month or so. It took a while to get it unlocked but development has been goin pretty well since then. Just gonna take time.

So now that the bootloader has been cracked, we should see some more development soon I'd think? I'm just surprised this isn't a more popular device, the specs on it are bad ass.

Well like mrdsl said cm10 is the base for many of the good rom anyway and its almost done so I would expect to see development pick up soon. Especially as att keeps dropping the price makeing this easily the cheapest snapdragon600 device making it very appealing to many more people we should see the community for this phone grow a lot.

Exactly . Best rom by any android company released

I agree .. it's a good stock rom. I would have to say most people install roms to improve performance but even on the Note2 I had I wasn't installing roms like I did in the past on every device prior.. and in fact this G pro benchmarks about 60 to 100 percent faster than the Note2 in most ... and so far it's been the fastest, slickest device I've used by far. I'm using Apex Launcher for customizing .. and at this point my phone looks like stock Android 4.3 and runs lightning quick.. and battery life has been stellar. And I'm liking and using the quicknote dedicated button! Only thing I miss about my note2 is kinda the S-pen and the inky blacks(contrast)
I have own a lot of Samsung devices...starting from s2 to s4 and I change my s4 for this device because I didn't feel I big upgrade from s3...of course I miss switching rooms but I can tell you that this phone is a lot quicker than many phone out there...the G pro is a lot more responsive than my wife note 2 and what I love about this phone is BATTERY this monster last the whole day

Stock is good, but modded roms are better. that's my option. Because the stock rom is so perfect, we're hailing the rom, but we better make sure that doesn't offend the developers. Even it is perfect, it is still 4.1, we will need 4.2/4.3 roms very soon, and LG won't catch up with our interest. So, we better appreciate what developers are trying now. Pls don't say we don't want mod roms.
For me, I just have one request to the devs, whatever you do, pls make sure the Quick Remote is in your rom, coz I'm already obsessed with it so much. now I can control everything around me with my phone.

Screw that. I want a CDMA OnePlus device...Or hell I might just go TMo.
Screw Knox and the increasing DRM crap Samsung forces on consumers.
I love my note 2 but I think from now on ile just stick to nexus device. I bought this phone based on the screen size really. All I want is a stable kit Kat cm or cm based ROM which seems unlikely at this point.
I keep thinking is it too late to buy a nexus 5 or just wait for the n6.

Galaxy Gear only works, so far as I know, with unrooted stock (yuck) touchwiz ROMs on select devices of Samsung's arbitrary choice. You're better served both now and later with not spending the $200+USD on Samsung locked hardware.

I didn't mind TW but I really got tired of waiting for Sammy to release a 4.4 update for us, and then having to wait on Sprint again... It's nice to be able to use KitKat on the Note 2
I'm just confused why. Did we lose some assist or did Samsung beef up there security?

Beefed up security that bricks the phone, devs are having trouble getting past it.
if it ever gets sorted out maybe will see some development.
Pp.
It isn't about security, it's all about Exynos and the fact we have zero source code for it because Samsung won't hand it over for obvious reasons, without that source code it's relatively difficult to build roms. Some devs have done it but with the cost of it being painstakingly time consuming and with the resulting Roms being still buggy and relatively unstable. Which brings me to the assumption that because the s5 had development or other Samsung devices had good development you assumed this one would follow suit however most of Samsungs previous devices were using Qualcomms Snapdragon processors which Qualcomms been known to be good with supplying it's source code.

Fudge... this phone is feeling super slow without customer kernels and overclockin. I moved over back to android ditchin the 6 in hopes of rooting and going all sorts of crazy. Plus the multitasking is a joke in that it kills apps so fast

In any case you should be bringing the keyboard back to BestBuy. Can't believe you would use a salesman's words as reliable source tho.

Guess that's why Apple has a reputation of just working.. Now I know why Samsung sales are slipping. I was told hope you didn't listen to the salesman, really? Does your elders listen to salesman when looking for a gift? Since Samsung is aware of it how hard it it to put a banner before the upgrade warning the new user? Now back to Apple there products work, sounds like a hit a forum that thinks bugs and bad QA is fine.. Keep your wallets open sheep, samsung loves you.

Well there's nothing else to discuss except make fun of the reps who are lying to us. No root, no roms, no anything

Who cares how many threads there are in this forum? It's not like there is much to do with this device that XDA can even be helpful with.

Sooo miss my Nexus. Will now only purchase Nexus. Sick of being held hostage by ATT and Sammy. Att mostly. Hate iPhones (iOS) but at least Apple doesn't let carriers take advantage of them or their customers.

I hear you android.gt, it's ridiculous that we have to wait months for Samsung/ATT to deliver a simple update. Not to mention all the bloatware that comes with these ATT phones.

It has nothing to do Samsung. Get that part straight as Samsung has released the MM version to all carriers. It's up to the carriers to release their bloated version.

I did it, made a smart switch backup, update via side load, restore backup. There was some re doing of a lot of stuff but I'm running MM.
Honestly, in my opinion MM is better in every regards. I miss weather on the lockscreen and the lock screen swipe effects, but those are a small price to pay for the battery life and performance improvements

I actually got so impatient that I did a smartswitch backup on the computer and sideloaded marshmallow then restored from the backup. It couldn't have gone smoother.
What is a side load? Sorry guys. New to this.

Installing an update via the recovery menu on the phone, and using ADB on a desktop computer with the phone connected to it.
