I have several brand new 16gb 2013 Nexus 7s that I need to set up for a project at work. I created a new Google account and updated both to Marshmallow according to the instructions here:
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=en
I've done two so far and both are exhibiting the same strange behavior. The Play Store isn't listing the installed apps or automatically updating them. Under My Apps, both INSTALLED and ALL are completely empty.
Things I've tried:
Clearing Storage On Play Store
Reboot
Factory Wipe
I searched for gmail and found that it needed an update. I manually installed the update and now it's in the list.
Made a second new Google Account
I added new user and set up my personal Google Account in the device and it recognized all of the system and immediately started updating them.
I don't want to have to install my personal account on all of these tablets. Do anyone have any idea what could be wrong with my new Google accounts and how I could fix them?
Check out the top quality support I got from Google:

Hi! Thanks for getting in touch with Google. My name is Harry. How are you doing today?
me 11:39 AM
Fine
Harry 11:41 AM
I've noticed that you're experiencing issues with the Nexus 7. Is that correct?
me 11:41 AM
Yep
Harry 11:43 AM
Please don't worry. I'll help you resolving the issue for you.
Could you please elaborate the issue?
me 11:43 AM
Could you please explain what part you are having trouble understanding?
Harry 11:47 AM
If I understand correctly, the original account that was used while setting up the account doesn't download the apps automatically but when you add a new user in the device, all the associated apps get downloaded, is that correct?
me 11:49 AM
I created a new Google Account and with it the Play Store does not recognize the installed system apps on a brand new install. But when I set up an old, established Google Account as an additional user on the tablet, it recognized the system apps.
Harry 11:51 AM
Could give me the example of the system apps that aren't recognized with the new account?
Could you please give me the example of the system apps that aren't recognized with the new account?

Gmail, Hangouts, Maps, Google Plus, Drive, Chrome. All of the default Google Apps that are installed to the system partition.
Calendar, Keep, Clock, Calculator, Photos, Keyboard, YouTube, WEbView, Camera

No problem

Thanks for waiting. I appreciate your patience.

I've checked this with my level 2 team, it seems that the issue is because it is a modified device.
me 12:25 PM
What does that mean? It's brand new.
me 12:33 PM
Hello? Will you please answer me?
Are you kidding me? What kind of support is this?
I've seen this problem with many phones and brand new google profiles. Manually search for the apps and update them. You can also find them with appbrain.

I know google and Facebook don't get along when it come to contacts. But is there a work around since i don't see the option to sync in the app. I don't care too much about the photos but more the numbers.
You can download friendcaster from the market which will sync contacts and pictures.
If you are interested in rooting and custom roms, Paul from Modaco has it working with the gsm version (still in beta, but it works). There isn't a LTE version yet, but if you're patient, I'm sure he'll be able to get a LTE version of his rom eventually. In the meantime, people have confirmed friendcaster works for now.
No methods that I know of yet ( GSM Galaxy Nexus) however you can sync pictures with contacts by navigating to the picture and clicking the menu button (3 dots) and clicking set as
Edit: it think friend caster works too

I could have sworn that the official Facebook app allowed for contact syncing. I guess it just hasn't been integrated for the GN yet? I really don't want to have to text all my friends and tell them to send me a picture of themselves. lol
Just download "SyncMyPix" from the market. Takes like 30 seconds to sync all of your contacts with their Facebook pictures. You can even set it to sync like once per day if you wanted to. I just use it once a week or so and it works perfectly (at least I did on one of my other phones, and I will here).
Used it on the way home from the Verizon store this morning and it had them all synced up before I was on the highway.

The Nexus phones don't do this. The Nexus One did, but that was before Google changed their policy. Facebook refuses to update to a different API that Google created for contact syncing/management and, as such, Google turns off their ability to sync on official devices.
Facebook's just too damned stubborn to make the (SIMPLE) change.

Thanks for that elaborate response! This is my first Nexus phone so I am still learning all the ins and outs of this thing. I will check out SyncMyPix now.

Any phone with vanilla android will no longer have contact sync with Facebook. (Been this way since the Nexus S) Unless Facebook starts using the API's Google provided them, which Facebook refused to do, this feature will not work unless you have an android overlay like sense, touchwiz, blur, or a custom rom that has enabled this feature.
If you don't want a custom rom, you will have to settle for apps from the market like friendcaster and syncmypics to work around the problem that isn't resolved between Facebook and Google, for now at least.
hy!
After new google maps update I can't open adress stored in any contact. When I tap on address nothing happened?
anione know the fix
tnx
Same here, and location history doesn´t work either..
Same here on the HTC One S. I believe it's since the latest Google Maps update. In my case it came up with a pre-installed navigation app instead of Google Maps that started normally. Disabling the pre-installed navigation app results in no navigatuin/map popping up at all.

Temporary work-around from droidforums.net:
Open contacts, scroll down to the person , Do NOT open their info. Just click on their picture, or icon, from the main contacts list. It will open up options to call, send email, open maps, and a few other things.

The issue is fixed after installing the Google Maps update of 2013-08-16.
i was wondering if any 1 knows how to set up my fire tv stick with a layout to show my sideloaded apps to look like this. as i have a 2nd FTV and i have to go the long way to get to kodi ect through settings, managed installed apps..
or know of a way i can totaly back up my stick and transfer all data to another device. i looked at rooting but looks like i need to do some soildering
i have images to show how my layout is with apps like mobdro WSS and kodi skygo, btsport, ect with in the actual apps section without me going into manage installed apps. unable to post pics due to post count. i could link any 1 with images if some 1 could post for me
Not sure what you mean, cause you said "like this", but did not post a pic. I have a feeling that you might be talking about making all your apps show up in the apps section. All you have to do is downoad and install the Amazon App Store apk then reboot. It will show all of your apps in the apps section on the fire launcher, but it will break some functionality like being able to install amazon apps, but to fix it all you have to do is uninstall the app store and reboot. I never install apps from the amazon launcher anyway so I just leave the app store installed.

Just some advice, install Dock4Droid and you can launch apps from anywhere. You can set your favorite apps to always appear on the dock. With Dock4Drid there is no reason to go to the launcher to open any apps.
i posted like this. as i was going to add pics but cant due to post count. i will try wat you said and see if it works. if so i will come back with feed back. thanks
YES i installed the Amazon App Store apk, and it changed the layout what i was looking for. kudos

Hello,
Has anyone else encountered this? My Zooper Widget Pro wasn't working (not updating time on home screen) so thought I'd uninstall it and add it again but can't find it in the play store. Checked on my computer and getting "We're sorry, the requested URL was not found on this server." when searching for it in the Play Store.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Zooper is dead, let it stay that way. Support from mycolorscreen is done. Move to KLWP, if you want support into the future.

If you must download it, get it from here.
https://m.apkhere.com/app/org.zooper.zwpro
It was probably removed from the market because of new standards. If the developer doesn't answer, or update to the new standards, Google will remove it, just like it did with my app, that I was no longer supporting.

i hacked the device, loaded apks (ie cinema) and watched a tv show without problems. the next day on every apk when i tried to view the show i was asked to subscribe to hulu and pay for it. i had not installed a vpn system. can i rectify the problem by (1) uninstalling the apks and buy a vpn service and reinstall the apks or (2) use a different firestick or is there no way i can return to getting tv programs as before without a hulu requirement? did signing in to my amazon account make any difference and if so can i replace the firestick and if possible use it without signing in to my account?
any suggestions are appreciated

im unsure what happened here. uninstall HULU maybe? not sure how a VPN would play this. Did you install apk's from a good source? Almost sounds like a virus/scammer, trying to steal data...
What do you mean by "hacked"??
I didn't do anything specific and I can run 3rd party apps like cinema just fine, without any extra subscriptions at Hulu or whatever.

all apks installed per every youtube suggestion from the list from something point as i recall.
all i know is when i searched for the tv show "the goldbergs" on one of the 4 apks (cinema, catmouse, etc.) two or three options came up, the usual pictures of the show, one was the old 1950's one. i clicked on the new box, a selection of which series appeared and i selected series and a show and it ran. the next day every one of the 4 "cinema" type showed the boxes with instructions of payment options below the boxes (the usual, $1.99 per show, etc.), or free with a trial subscription to hulu.
my first thought was that the absence of vpn protection was a factor, but nobody i speak to appears to believe that.

I was asking about the source of the 3rd party app. Yes, 3rd party apps work fine. There are hacked apps that will install adware and garbage along with it.

as usual, it was human error (HAL still is error free). seems 4 apks’, when one searches for some tv shows, lead you to the only option is to join hulu. but one of the 4 also has a “hulu/netflix” option, and there the same hulu show which you have to join hulu to watch is available without impediments.
much thanks for the replies and assistance
