HELP- HTC DESIRE HD- No os installed. I want to install cyanogen. - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guyz.....
I m new here, and new in the field of Flashing, recovery and rooting. So i request you all to help me out.
Yesterday i succeeded in unlocking Bootloader.
And i installed twrp recovery in my HTC Desire HD
And installed superuser(which i think twrp did for me)
I was following guide from ""https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_ace""
I wiped dalvik cache
cache
data
AND SYSTEM AS WELL(i think i messed up here)****
then i tried installing the stable cyanogen file cm-7.2.0-ace.zip (88 mb i suppose)
*************************************************************************************
AND NOW I AM GETTING ""NO OS INSTALLED. ARE You sure you wish to reboot.""
*************************************************************************************
I tried what i could.....i even factory reset it.
pls guide me, what should i do to recover. I still can enter bootloader and recovery...!

Wiping system doesn't hurt. Sounds like your partition is screwy. Flash newest twrp jrior and try and flash ROM again. But cm 7 requires an old recovery. Flash that recovery and flash a newer rom

U CANNOT flash cm7 or cm 9with a newer recovery. Those require an old recovery. Like cwm 5-

Follow this steps;
Download CWM 5.8.1.5 from Here
Flash it just the way as you've flashed TWRP. It will basically help you flash All ROMs from Gingerbread to JellyBean and upto Certain KK(4.4.2) builds.
And if you want to flash anything higher then you've to flash Latest TWRP by jrior. Now this is when you want to flash Higher Builds such as KK(4.4.3 n up) and LP(5.0.2 n up).

Can't boot into ClockworkMod Recovery.

Haven't got enough posts to publish in the dev part of the forum and I can't find anyone with a DHD and this problem.
I'm on mike1986' Android Revolution HD 2.0.7 with senseless and trying to upgrade to 2.0.8 - with senseless.
I can't boot into ClockworkMod Recovery through Rom Manager or the boot menu (vol down at boot). Running 2.5.1.3 and it just hangs on the HTC screen. Tried flashing it twice from Rom Manager - no joy.
Looking for any advice - the rest of the phone runs fine btw.

Try to use the LASTEST version of CWM. i had this issues before coz i'm using the old version that i got from torrent. after i installed/ overwrite the old one, it works like charm! gud luck!
Cheers for the help, one question tho. As far as I am aware the latest CWM is 2.5.1.3. should I try using the "flash an older CWM" in Rom Manager?
All done, a massive thanks dude for the help.

Well, this is what you need to check before u want it to works..
1. Firstly, NOT to update your phone with latest firmware that is 17.2/17.5 (this will not work for ALL attempt)
2. Root your phone - apps needed (superuser & VISIONary+)
3. ROM Manager (get the latest one and granted as superuser) with the right Flash CWM Recovery.
4. S-OFF (check on the pinned DHD Android development thread)
i think that's all.. other might add in some info if i got myself less on it.. thank you
I'd try flashing an older recovery and flashing back to the newest. Remember you can also get to recovery by switching off and charging.

Actually I tell the whole story now. When I was making backup of my stock ROM the sd card showed low on space. So I removed that SD card and inserted the one which came with the Phone. On that I installed all the required zip files. Then I made backup of the stock ROM and the data. After that I followed these steps mentioned here -:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1863260
According to the steps I did not did wipe davik cache etc. after instaling the ROM I did wipe factory and data reset and wipe cache partition. After following all the steps mentioned I rebooted my phone as mentioned. But after rebooting the phone is stuck on android logo. I then again went into recovery and tried to wipe dalvik cache the confirmation page that appears before wiping anything is not coming. Also when I tried to restore my phone to the stock ROM an error message is coming. So I am not able to restore to the stock ROM. This is the whole thing. So guys please help. I hope I have not bricked my phone. Any solutions?
Thanks
As long as your phone can go to recovery mode it wasnt bricked..

What version it is??
If you are install custom rom from stock rom,its better to use px-cwmV2..
If test it,and it minimize the risk of stuck on android logo..
After that you can change the recovery to other version that you want..

I think the version is 5.0.2.7. Also when I am switching off the phone after sometime it is automatically switching on by itself. So for the time being I have removed the battery.

If you use that version, use the version that can support rfs+ext4 file system..
Stock rom use rfs file system and custom rom usually use ext4 file system,so therefore you have to use recovery that support both..

If you have working recovery it's no use to flash stock ROM, just flash px-cwmV2 http://www.mediafire.com/file/y1xy6g2y5tpp1fg/px-cwm-v2.zip.
Then wipe all, including dalvik, flash desired ROM, wipe all again (including dalvik), and you should be good to go.

I have. As i said, you could just try CWM v2.
BUT to be absolutely safe flash a stock ROM using Odin, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20397915&postcount=3.
After u flash the stock ROM, go to default recovery, factory reset, boot the rom, shutdown.
Flash the desired version of CWM using Odin or trough recovery, and then flash the custom ROM u want.
For me CWM 5.0.2.7 ext4+ RFS couldn't wipe dalvik, nor could it mount /system. So I used cwmV2.
Good luck!

when you flash firmware with odin, it will also flash a new recovery.
just enter recovery like normally, and flash cwm-v2.zip
after its done you pull the battery out, and boot into recovery again.
now you have clockworkmod installed

[q] q. About maximus hd 20.0.0

Full wipe is obligatory
Installing Kernel via Kernel flasher is obligatory, otherwise your device won’t boot!

THE QUESTION HERE !! FLASHING THE BOOT.IMG FOR ROM VIA CMD IS NOT ENOUGH ????
I haven't tried yet but I think the kernel flasher also flashes modules which may not be present in the Rom

command for boot.img work fine
Is available a FAQ post about MaximusHD 20 at this link
About it you must flash the given boot.img in the kernel flasher and perform a full wipe. Other kernels don't working on it. TWRP 2.6 is recommended because with other recoveries you may be stuck on 0% or 8% during the installation.
All is totally working with no bugs, if you have one you should retry a celan flash.
Good luck and enjoy

Thats because you updated the phone to at least 3.17 software or higher (updated touch drivers !)
Indeed use twrp (repacked) or philz. Btw flashed it with philz myself, no issues

hey mate,
1. +2. All recoverys should work. TWRP 2.6 is recommand. Some Philz users reported issues (stuck @ 0%, bootloop etc.).
3. Just flash it via fastboot.
4. Unzip it and you will find a .img file
5. fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache

Guys official OTA is available in many countries. The new base is 4.18.401.2 but the Maximus is on 4.18.401.1. Also the hotboot is updated to 1.72.
I hope in a OTA update of Maxiums and not in another clean flash
I won't recommend any recovery. But philz has a fully functional one. Twrp is a good recovery but in the repacked version adb and ums does not work. And in philz it all does work. I use philz and flashed the sense 5 rom with succes. Just sharing my experience

And as for the kernel, flashing it via fastboot is fine. the kernel flasher is a simple batch file to simplify things, but it doesn't appear to fastboot erase cache, so imo it is better to flash the boot image manually. I did and it's working flawlessly
MaximusHD 21 with base 4.18.401.2 is available, but on OTA you find the full rom, so 700MB.
I don't know if in the kernel flasher provided by football there is the wipe cache script, maybe the missing wipe can cause wifi issue.

An alternative is instead of rebooting your device from fastboot is to go back to hboot, load into recovery and manually wipe cache partition.

In any case if you select full wipe while installing the rom in the log you can read wiping cache so theoretically no problem. But a dev daid to me that is safer clean from fastboot

Yep, Flashing using cmd and erasing cache is working just fine.
See whats inside "Flash kernel.bat": nothing special but standard "fastboot flash boot boot.img"

[Q] Status 7 trying to install new ROM CM11 (KitKat)

Hello all,
Please can someone help me??
I have a HTC One X, I have unlocked my phone on HTCDev, it is showing as rooted (not broken lol) and i can add superuser on there.
I have CWM installed v.5.8.4.0 however, when looking in the ROM Manager, trying to update it is shows me 6.0.4.7 under recovery setup. but when i boot into recovery it still shows me 5.8.4.0??
I have been trying to install the Beanstalk-4.4.240-20140206-endeavouru.zip...
I keep getting stuck in the installation with the message status 7 and then installation stops..
I have cleared all the files and cache that is required prior and still fails. I have tried removing the assert / getpro lines and I still get status 7 during installation.
I have tried a few different ROMs all telling me they are for HTC One X (so i am guessing these just are the right ROMs)
The only think i can see i have is that i have S-On, but i cannot seem to find anywhere to turn this off.. Is this the only reason it is not working????
I have tried another recovery images as well and still no luck?? (unless i did that wrong)
Please can someone help me, I would really like to put a Kitkat ROM on my phone as HTC are not going to get this done..
Ditch rommanager, it does not work on a s-on hox. Second you need to flash a kitkat recovery to install kitkat roms and a sense recovery to install sense 5 roms or earlier build aosp roms.
So for kitkat download the latest philz touch recovery available, and if you want sense based roms i suggest to use philz touch 5.15......
You have to flash boot.img & recoverys via fastboot (pc) to the phone !

Thank you i have checked this out.. but i can only find the Philz touch 6.19.3 clockworkmod 6.0.4 so i have updated
Just a slight issue now where i am cleaning all what has to be cleared and then installing the ROM and GAPP which both are now installing by the look of it and no errors.. but i am looping back into Philz touch rather than the phone restarting.. Even if i restore the previous version it still comes back to Philz touch..
do you know why this is happening? I tried CM11 Rom and also the Beanstalk 4.4 ROM (As well as restore) all coming back to recovery mode.. Im lost now
Try this recovery and flash a sense 5 rom to check if that works. It should not boot back.to the recovery.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yqzlpqo8illa53j/Philz recovery 5.15.9.img
And can you post the outcome of :
Fastboot getvar all
And delete the imei and serial number before posting it !!
ok the 5.15 installed fine, but the images here are giving me status 7 and restore is not working for me from here either
i have attached the getvar all outcome
The specs are fine, download a sense 5 rom like viper X or arhd. And install it like this :
Flash the boot.img of the rom !
Then enter the recovery and make a FULL wipe :
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced - wipe dalvik cache
Mounts and storage - format cache , data and system
Then install the rom (if you go for viper you select cache wipe only and full rom install in the aroma)
ok I realised i didn't do the boot.img correctly.. i tried it again now but went back to Touch 6 and the Beanstalk has installed YAY!!
You said "download a sense 5 rom like viper X or arhd" are these better than Beanstalk? I am asking as this is my first 4.4 ROM i have installed...?
I do have to say i do like the sense 5 so wondering if it is worth changing ROM to what you are suggesting?
Otherwise it is now working... Thank you heaps for all your help
Ah no there is no "better" rom. I suggested these because i have experience with these roms. Just for testing purposes.
But all is fine. And you know how to flash so all good.
CASE CLOSED !

[Q] Loading Screen Loop

Hello, I was trying to get CyanogenMod 7.1 on my HTC Desire Z (from Bell), and used this XDA guide to attempt to downgrade first. However the method used to gain temp root did not work. So I switched to this official CyanogenMod Guide. After I got the device downgraded with their guide, I then rooted and got ClockworkMod Recovery working. Lastly, I attempted to use the CM Recovery to install the official 7.2 mod for my device. It installed, but when I boot the phone normally, the loading screen of CM 7.1 just continually loops, and does not actually start. I also tried to install the 7.2 for the device, but got the same result. My end goal is to get the device running 4.4 (or some OS more current than 2.2) using Andromadus Flinny CM11.
Additional info: HBoot-0.84.2000, S-OFF, Radio-26.03.02.18_M3 and CW Recovery v3.0.2.4. (Still running 2.2, build # 1.34.707.3) I did search through the forums for posts pertaining to my problem, but I didn't see any. Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong, or have any suggestions? Thanks, AndyFactor.
Try doing a full wipe in recovery than flash again the ROM then gapps, reboot
If this doesn't work let me know
