No idea why I'm having this issue, but my G4 won't connect to my windows 10 PC. I have lg drivers installed, LG bridge installed (and uninstalled) multiple USB outputs and USB cables but I'm am getting an error message that the PC does not recognise the device. How can I ensure my phone will connect to my computer?

Go to settings then general tab and scroll down click on Developer options. There is Revoke USB debugging authorisations, just touch that and click OK.
If you don't have developer options then
1. use a different cable/usb port
2. After plugging cable try changing connection to PTP wait 2 minutes then change it back to MTP

Hi, Unfortunately my Issue is little different. I used to get the MTP/PTP option after connecting my G4 to my PC. But lately am not getting such options at all. Just getting the charging notification that is meant for slow charging.
Any Help is most welcome.

With your phone plugged into your computer Go to Control Panel (in windows 10 right-click on start button > control panel) > Device Manager > Uninstall the LG G4 Drivers > Then on your LG G4 device Click the options menu button ellipsis top right (...) > click install drivers.
Hope it works
My LG G4 won't connect to my Win 7 machine but will connect to my xp machine. I've installed and uninstalled all the drivers. Hunted down drivers from my PC manufacturer (lenovo) called LG and worked with them for about an hour. I called T-mobile who were the most enthusiastic about resolving the problem, but they eventually referred me back to LG who punted. They said I should call back later!
Tried usb debugging with developer options, no luck either.
The drivers almost install. It shows 1 or 2 of four installs are ok, but then craps out.
Any help? I've been at this for 4 days.
Many thanks,
Mine never connects to Mac via AFT...I installed Asus File manager and transfer the files over Wifi.
At least that is possible.
I had the same problem, both in windows 8.1 and windows 10 (after upgrade). I finally got it working by going to the "Control Panel" -> "Devices and Printers", right-clicking on the G4 and choosing "Troubleshoot". This found a broken driver, it suggested a re-install of the driver which did the trick. I can now connect to LG Bridge. Don't know if this will fix your problem but it's worth a try.
Guys, I have spent countless of hours searching online for an issue I have after I did an update on my phone. The computer does not recognize my phone. I have tried 4 different PC's two of them with Windows 10 and 2 with Windows 7. The drivers are up to date on all 4 PC's. I have tried multiple USB cables. I have done master reset by wiping everything. I went to developer options and I forced the MTP protocol. The phone just charge. Does not give the icon on the status bar either. I have turned on USB debugging nothing either. I put my phone in download mode the computers does not recognize it either. All the computers say not recognized. Have any of you experienced this issue and if so, how did you fix it? I'm starting to believe it's a hardware issue.

I think my problem isn't the system, or my pc. It's what makes the connection android>pc but not the USB cable, the software that makes it may be the problem. But I'll try it sooner.
I still have this problem, but now I can change between the USB cable modes, not from notification but using the app "QuickShortCutMaker", now I don't receive any notification of connection on pc, no problems or not recognizing. I'll try FWUL again. Does someone know what to do now?

I did actually, and Kies couldn't see the phone.
Also, the phone did not see a USB connection, though it was charging
per the documentation I tried to mount as mass storage device through Wireless and Networking. This didn't do anything either, phone still charges.
I had borrowed the USB cable from a co-worker, I had him plug it in to his phone, and it works just fine, just XP machine sees his phone.
Turns out, its something with the cable.
rummaging around for another cable, I noticed I had my XOOM and its cord with me. Its the same type, but its the Moto brand one (if that makes it any different?)
plugged it in instead just for ****s and giggles. It works.
Phone just doesn't like his cable for whatever reason.
Now Win7 sees the phone, and Kies sees it (doesn't like the debugging mode but whatever)
His cable was an LG branded one. Any one know if there's something different?
I've tested 2 LG branded usb cables and they do not work. Same thing you described.
I found it in pull it out half way the phone recognizes USB and the computer sees the phone but if I try to transfer files I get a "device disconnected" error... Or something like that. I can see the files, just can't touch 'em.
I could not believe that the cable is have been using on tons of devices for years wouldn't work only on this one. I'd sooner believe it was the computer. So I grabbed a coworkers much newer LG branded cable and same thing... I still didn't believe it after testing 2 cables on 3 computers... Though I had a hunch from the first second I plugged it in I still can't believe it... And then I read this.
Explanation please, lol.

Have you considered getting your USB adapter/port checked for issues? It could be possible that the adapter no longer has the ability to send data, but only charges the E4GT when connected; try using another USB port on your computer.

If your phone will charge but won't transfer data, there is a strong possibility it is actually a problem with the cable. I tested 3 LG micro-usb cables which all worked fine with an LG phone, but would not transfer data with the Epic 4G Touch. The would only charge. I thought my USB port was busted at first also because I tried 3 different cables and this is the first time I've encountered a situation where micro-usb cables were not universal.

Sounds silly, but did you try rebooting your computer? I had to do this the other day when mine wasn't recognizing my phone. Rebooted computer, worked fine after.
Samung's drivers are awful. I had to install, reboot, remove, reboot ad nauseum until I finally got the drivers to work. I also found I had to connect the phone then wait a few minutes before the computer would acknowledge the phone.
specteA 187,
I've only ever had the issue if I've tried USB ports on the front of my machine. For some reason those ports can be a bit flaky.
Plugging USB into the back of my machine causes no issues. Weird.
For me, on Windows 8, I have to switch from MTP to PTP, and then back to MTP for it to mount. It sure is wonky.

I found that if my computer doesn't recognize my phone, I put my phone into download mode then reboot back to normal and the computer will recognize it. Kind of a pain to have to reboot 2x but seems to work for me.
I've had 5 Samsung smartphones (Captivate, Infuse, GS2, SkyrocketGS2, and now the SGNote2) andI use an XPSP3 desktop computer and have never had any issues with computer recognizing phone until the Note2. Odin3 works like a champ on the Note2... it's the plug-n-play recognition for transferring files back and forth that's problematic. Yes, I've uninstalled/reinstalled drivers, Kies, etc, used back ports vs front port... I think it has to do with the MTP file transfer protocol now used. Here's what works for me with the Note2 and the PC:
Connect phone to PC... phone's "USB PC Connection" box opens and you have 2 options: MTP(media/files) or PTP (camera). If PC doesn't immediately recognize device, I do one of two things which always works:
1. toggle between MTP and PTP a few times... if that doesn't work,
2. unplug usb from PC port and reinsert (either same port or another)
Windows Explorer will then recognize device and add "SAMSUNG-SGH-I317" under "My Computer" and list it under "Other" devices in panel.
I had this same problem today on my new N2. Drivers would not install. All I wanted to do was to drag my pics and music onto my SD card. I worked around this of course by removing the SD card from the Note and putting it in the adapter and doing it that way. I still haven't gotten my drivers to install. I may just get the drivers off the Internet

Thanks, Should've mentioned that I've tried all of the above methods. It may be that, since I work on so many Android devices, my pc is just too full of incompatible drivers and I've yet to clear them properly. Even If i did I'm fairly certain that I'll be working on more devices and will screw it up all over again. My network is pretty quick and Dropbox/esFile Explorer is convenient so I really shouldn't complain.
When I plugin the S3 (Sprint non rooted) I no longer get the option for mtp or ptp. I suspect it may have happened after updating to 4.1.2. Ive tried multiple pcs and usb cables. To make it even worse, it works on my note 2 for sprint. Any help is something
I don't have my phone hooked up to my computer at the moment, so this might be a little vague.
I've had this happen a number of times. Plug your phone into the computer via USB and go into the Windows Device Manager (assuming you're running Windows) and uninstall the driver for your phone. Look for something like "Samsung Android Phone" or something like that.
If there is an option to delete the driver DO NOT delete it, since we want don't want to remove it from the computer.
After it's uninstalled, unplug your phone from USB and then plug it in again. Windows should do its automatic driver thing, and hopefully you'll be back in business.
Hopefully this helps. Good luck!
Also make sure you turn usb debugging off prior to connecting the phone.

You have some old driver that is blocking access.
Use device manager to remove the device and driver then reboot and try again using the Google drivers.

Yes. It is fairly typical. I had same issue on Windows 7 x64 and lived with it for a while.
Finally, I decided to fix it by uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling. It took about an hour after trying all sorts of tricks. There are tricks in quite a few threads here on xda. I'm not sure any one thread fixes every problem. So I found the solution was trial and error.
After messing with driver for a couple hours, serious waste of time, I got MTP working once. As a confirmation check I uninstalled the drivers once more and let the drivers reinstall on plugging in the device. It broke again, back to PTP. LOL
Not giving up, I tried again the next day and finally got MTP working again. This time I uninstalled drivers again, and the correct drivers reinstalled on device plug in. Since then everything has been great. I get both MTP and PTP working great.
I would try sfhub thread ideas and search around for a couple other ideas too. It will eventually work, but you have to isolate what exactly is the problem on your Windows 8 PC. Sometimes you are missing just one thing, sometimes Windows automatically messes with you.
Good luck.
I have no issues with Win7x64. Worked first time and every time since. Sorry...

Okay. I will try on my Windows 8 system later today. Interesting. Thanks.
Try disabling usb debugging, that worked for me on a windows xp machine having some problems as you
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
popular mbnegul
i also noticed tonight that if u have usb debug on, u cannot connect as mtp
the moment u swith it off, it starts as mtp
Make sure you are using the usb cable marked Asus on one end that came with the Nexus 7. I had the same problem because I was using another usb cable. They are not all the same.
