This is a bit of a rant but I just can't stop myself
LG has got to be one of the worst companies when it comes to launching a phone. We saw basically a complete phone in August then had to wait a month before it even came to North America. Then, they handicap the phone in Canada by ONLY RELEASING IT IN ONE COLOR. I will never get this, the V30 is an amazing phone but I probably won't be getting it just because of how much LG has messed this launch up. If I can't get an unlocked bootloader on contract, then the least I'd want as a Canadian is to get the phone in black. But apparently that's not even possible.
I personally am losing so much respect for LG as they continue to make dumb decisions about some fantastic hardware. What are your thoughts?
I think they are pretty good compared to Google..

This is my point exactly. I was using Canada as an example simply because it's where I live and I've been stuck trying to find my next phone since mid-August, only to be teased by LG for oh so long. The fact that they are launching phones 1+ months earlier in one place and giving no notice as to when it's launching in others is just insane in my eyes. Hope that Europe gets an announcement soon, only today did we finally get one for us igloo people in Canada.

At least google was able to announce it and give us the option to pre-order and a release date, all at the time that they showed off the phone.

Just wanted to say one that regarding this...
It appears the T-Mobile devices don't have the display banding issue, maybe they wait for the launch in Europe to fix the issue, yeah, I know, it will never be like this, but hope is the last to die ahahahah

I'm really curious to see if the Pixel 2 XL is going to have similar issues at launch, seeming how LG is likely using the exact same panels. Maybe they will have fixed the majority of issues by then for both phones, idk like you said hope is the last to die lmao

There is thread on Reddit where the pixel doesn't have the problem, but the same brightness seems brighter on the pixel so they could have raised the minum brightness.

Definitely does look brighter, but I'd trade that for not having the screen look as horrible as the v30 he has for comparison any day lol

Well, if LG doesn't do a software update you can use lux from the play store or any other app that modify brightness parameters xD
This launch is ridiculous. Not one store in a 50 Mike radius had this phone in stock. And all have given me dates other than today when it's sale. Have heard it's on sale the 15th from one store, the 17th from another and the 21st from another. Why can't I get this phone today. I'm in Utah by the way.

Same story in Ohio. Got told on Wednesday the stores would for sure have it today for the launch, now not a single store got any stock. It's not as if they are selling out, they are just not receiving them. LG should be embarrassed, they apparently were overflowing with these damn things to send to every minor YouTuber since August.
And to top it off, T-MOBILE was supposed to launch the phone today and exactly 0 stores anywhere within driving distance have one and they don't know when they are getting them. Talk about an epic fail. Looks like I'm back on the phone hunt. I was pretty pumped about the V30 but LG may have just lost my money, simply because they can't properly launch a phone. No wonder they can't keep up with Samsung.
I have a nexus 6p, pixel xl with a lot of drops never a broken glass, my new pixel 2 xl broke after the first small drop. In going to call google to see how much it cost to fix it.
Really ?
I feel your pain, but you really need to do something about dropping your phone so much. I mean, what's going on!? It sounds like you're the sort of person who definitely needs an otter box case.

And im not too careful at all - get yourself a case dude. Or a chain like the ones for granny's glasses ?

They told me to take it to ubreakifix is going to be $219. I looked everywhere to see if other had the problems but so far nobody else posted anything. Probably just bad luck.
Just unboxed OnePlus 5T and was greeted by defective screen. First I thought it to be the screen guard, peeled it off. Still the same. Reset the phone, still same. Updated OTA, still the same. Finally registered for a return.
What the **** is wrong with quality teams these days !!
These vertical lines are not so visible in full white bright background, but annoyingly visible in dark colored background or just by reducing brightness. I never thought even OnePlus will go this low with quality check.
RIP. And now you can talk with them for maybe a Christmas gift.
what the hell.... hope i don't get that.
return it

I don't think its a general thing. This is my third OP device and I never had bad experience with OP except this time.
It seems to be a **** on the part of quality check.
We complained to Amazon yesterday night and this morning they sent a technician to inspect it. He registered a case for return in 5 minutes. But the problem is, the seller in Amazon saying they don't have stock so can't replace. So my wife had to argue with Amazon folks since we have prime membership and we bought with early access, spoke with higher management from customer care side, and "maybe" they will replace it. We made it clear that we don't want refund but a replacement.
The phone is brilliant by the way, the face unlock is SO FAST that for a moment I thought there is no lock on the screen !!
Plus the anodized aluminium build is so damn premium that I could actually lick the phone !! :silly:

Amazon has great customer service in the USA also. I’ve only had 1 very smalll problem in 5 years. I ordered a “Used Like New” Pebble Time Watch from a third party seller, for $.01. I never received the watch. I contacted Amazon and they said that there was nothing they could do. I didn’t care, it was only a penny, and I would have been more surprised if I would have received it. I have never had a problem with customer service when ordering electronics that are sold and shipped from Amazon.
I got my 5T yesterday and everything is perfect..
Wow that's unlucky I hope there's no many been sent out like that!
I've sold my op5 today and nipped to my o2 store and grabbed a 5t so far so good much quicker than ordering from oneplus I had a crap experience last year from oneplus in buying it early and receiving it ate.

Me too. I haven't found one thing wrong with mine. The screen is great, no blue color shift like on the Pixel 2 XL.
It doesn't seem to be a problem across buyers.
Seems to be an isolated issue.

Mine isn't quite like yours, but I've got some strange brightness "bands" on my display mostly visible on grey screens.
It won't let me upload a photo...

Lol every launch has issues. It's early adopter price. IPhone x had the same issues with amoled but they had worse issues. On a phone that costs twice as much. We have to remember it's half the price with most of the features in a package that looks of say way better. Do an rma and get a new one, hopefully get a fixed phone

So after 7 replacements all for various different issues listed here on XDA I have decided to return the phone instead of getting an 8th replacement. I am going to try my luck with a Oneplus 5t.
Any-who my question is this...
Has anyone returned there phone after getting a credit for selling the OG Pixel to Google? Did you get a full refund of the original selling price or the difference?
I hear 8th time's a charm. You gave up too early.
You should probably just keep replacing them until the 3rd pixel comes out, then repeat the process in perpetuity.
7 replacements?
lol

Could you list the reasons why you returned each one? I mean.. 7! My first one came with 2 dead pixels on the screen but my second one has been fine for other a month now. I know it has a blue tint thing going on but that's just AMOLED technology and you will find that on every OLED phone.
What is exactly wrong with these phones you guys are returning? I don't really get it. Mine works and looks fine.
I'm ok with mine and the first reason for me not buying 5t is its 1080p screen.

I loved the phone or I would have giving up after the 2nd one. I really tried to make it work. And I know a 1080p display isn't ideal but it is only temporary until the next flagship phone is released.

This is to the best of my knowledge.
1. Blue tint was horrible
2. Brown lines going across the center of the display
3. Dead pixels
4. Dead pixels
5. Phone kept rebooting
6. Phone kept rebooting
7. The display randomly turns on for 1ms and flashes. Happens several times per min.
I might have these in the wrong order but it's close enough.
#7 was the best phone I had received and was perfect up until a few days ago. When I called Google about it they said it was a know issue and they are working on it.

I'm on my 4th... first one was a bad battery drain even in safe mode, 2nd and 3rd I had bad burn in and now the 4th wont take the January update. Been waiting a week for them to figure out whats wrong. Just says installation problem between steps 1 and 2, I enrolled in the beta to see if that helps and now phone says its up to date in the Dec 5th patch so no idea whats going on with it.

I guess it's just luck
My manufacturers or build or what it is called date is of 14 oct or so and except that blue tint which is evident and it's slow charging about 2h 45min fro 10 to full i had no complaints
2nd day got the swift black theme and gone the blue tint to an extent lol
Still coping up with slow charging as i was spoiled by dash charge

Meh, the fail is strong with Samsung this year.
At least hold off a bit if you want this phone; let others take the ride before you decide.
Latter production runs might also have issues fixed by then.

Maybe not. Samsung's been imploding across the board this year. With their apps and multiple device hardware failures. No joke. Multiple threads on XDA of issues and phone returns.
Just had a Wearables update puke all over me last night. It has defied a solution so far and the Buds+ only work right on phone calls.
Never saw that before.

If you really want it, then do the warranty exchange and get a new one. No product line is 100% perfect. There will always be defective units. But that doesn't mean every single device will fail within two weeks. That's the most asinine thing I've heard all day.

The best possible failure scenario is that a device does it within its return window.
So the OP was lucky in that respect.
I be pi$$ed too for all that trouble.
Meh... once bitten, twice shy.
If you preordered, Samsung included Care+ for 1 year for free. Not sure if this is offered outside of the US. It's really a great device kind of a game changer for me.

Samsung isn't imploding. Realize that they sell tens of millions of devices and a small minority of people who purchase their products are here complaining about things on XDA. There is no widespread news coverage of Samsung making faulty devices, well, not since the Note 7. Your post is an exaggeration.

Time will tell
Just order my second new 10+.
I don't share your optimism or wuv of storage deficient devices.
My first 10+ still looks, runs like it's new, fast, stable and fulfilling it's mission with 1tb of storage, soon to be expanded to 1.5tb.
I rejected the Note 20U because of poorer run time, Adroid 10, poorer color rendering and unreasonable price. Not enough bang for the buck.
So imagine what I think about every release from Samsung since then... and I'm not near as kind as you.
2021 is already a dead year for Sammy

That's a good choice... Look for golden reviewer on YouTube and you'll see that this phone while it has Snapdragon 888 performs even worse than 855/865 phones lmao.
It throttles so hard that on games that other phones run at 90fps+ it scores 30 FPS sustained with dips below 10 FPS lmao ( pubg and genshin )

There's literally a setting to make it run at max capability. From factory it doesn't run at max. You just flip the setting and it will run at max. They did it to preserve battery. Because realistically only games will utilize the entire power of an 888.
Phone cpus are progressing faster than use case. Oneplus just got in a debacle about this, mainly because they did it without giving you the ability to stop the throttling.
