I just read about this file on a tytn forum:
http://d.turboupload.com/d/1537358/WM6PreRelease.rar.html
Which downloads a 53MB RAR file with what looks like an updater ROM for windows mobile 6.. has anyone else got any idea what this is or if it works with a tytn/hermes?
I was tempted to try it myself and see what happens but I thought i'd ask and see if anyone has any idea if this is safe before I even think about trying it..
Cheers
I wouldnt touch it with a bargepole sir, give the XDA-Live ROM a try when it is released. Theres some fake stuff out there which i would be cautious about. :s
lol.. fair enough
When i run the exe the device image is of a universal anyways so i suspect that it wouldnt work on a hermes.. even if it was real..
I'll leave it
all moderators please feel free to delete this thread... the link refers to the Universal...
Hello everybody,
I'm about to finally flash my TP2 to the official 6.5 ROM (after going to the trouble of downloading it 3 days before release lol), and before I do that I wanted to have a copy of the current stock ROM, just in case I want/need to go back at any point (yeah, I'm anal about covering my bases on stuff like that).
But...I can't seem to find a copy of the same ROM I have on here now...there's other US Tmo 6.1 ROM's, but none match all the radio/build numbers I have (1.20.531.4/3.45.25.14), and I'd really like to have an exact match to what's on my phone now. Is it available anywhere?
If it's not yet, I'd be happy to hard-reset mine and then export it for everyone to have access to...if someone can point me to an instruction set for that
Bump-bump-ba-bump
this would be great to have for me also... i have the same radio/build number as you... so hopefully someone will be able to chime in and help.
I am going to be flashing to 6.5 custom rom in a little bit, but a backup would be great!

I was wondering the exact same thing...it says it's specific to the Magician (older HTC model, winmo 5.0), but it might work on 6.1...can anybody else here confirm that it does/doesn't? I'm a little concerned about just trying it blind, not sure if there's any potential to screw up the current ROM by using it on the wrong hardware.
In fact, if I can just find a (known safe) guide to doing the same thing on the TP2/6.1, I'll be happy to hard-reset my unit back to factory, and then export that ROM for whoever else wants to have a copy on hand.

i wish i knew away it could be done... i am flashing roms right now as we speak, hopefully somehow we can figure out away to make a back up of the ROM. well too late for me now since i already flashed over the 6.1
cdguider posted a dumped rom somewhere here...can't remember what thread, but he dumped his and I believe it was the same one that you need. As for the radio, I believe there is one on the board, possibly stickied...
try to find cdguider's posts and you may track down the rom.
Sorry I can't help more.

Don't sweat it, and thanks for that info! You still get +2 FEISTY bonus for the effort
I'll try tracking it down that way, will post findings here.

Yup, sure enough, that's the one! I found it right off the bat, all the version numbers match so this is the one I/we have been looking for, the thread is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550975
NOTE- for anyone else planning on keeping this as the "just in case" for when you flash up to the new 6.5, this 6.1 ROM does NOT include the radio (for calls/data, not FM music lol), but there's a link for that in the thread above.
YAY
Glad it worked out.
I had downloaded it, but it was on my other computer when I had responded earlier, so I couldn't up it and make a link.
I have had the 6.5 for a few days and the jury is still out, so I may well be flashing back to the 6.1 myself.
PS--thanks for the bonus points, I may be Feisty and Fabulous, but even a Feisty Woman likes bonus points for the effort!!
I can't login to Twitter Tab..in Jack OS ROM and Energy Rom
"You enterd an incorrect username or password."
please help Thank you.
There seems to be a problem with HTC Peep, nothing wrong with the ROM. We have to wait for a fix from HTC I believe.
same problem
have had the same problem since 5/1 on a different rom.
changed twitter password, disable twitter tab, flashed multiple rom (even stock), reformatted the sd card (running android on it) to no avail.
The htc peep security update doesn't help either.
Apparently twitter mentioned something on their support about it; but their has been no progress/update since 4/30.
Really hoping it gets fixed, currently using pocketwit and not too happy about it.
Ohh I see,,Thank you
I posted a solution in this post.
There is a fix from HTC, but for some reason it is lot listed under Rhodium phones. IT works fine on my Tilt 2 though.
I believe this is the link:
*edit* Fixed this on 5/11/2011, in my haste I put the wrong link *edit*

If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll look again.
Wish that was it. I think cajonflavourbob ported that patch a few months ago. We've already applied the patch and r getting an. Invalid username error from the twit. If you don't have the patch, you get a forbidden error
Sent from my MSM using XDA App
Thanks. I think I found the correct one and edited my earlier post.

Again, let me know if it's wrong, but there is DEFINITELY an official patch from HTC because I'm running it myself. It's just a pain to find.

That has nothing to do with the current outage. That is a security fix. Read about what that one does in this post. Installing this patch will not do anything to alleviate your current problems logging into the Twitter Tab. Use another client for the time being until the problem is solved.
Do we have any progress on this fix? Im in the same situation, Stock sprint ROM, applied security update and nothing!
Thanks
i have yet the same problem and I thought it was just the ROM i was running which is NRg nov. 2010. I cant get the NEW nRG ROM to install in my phone. it says something bout my usb port, which i use the external usb. can someone please help?

There is no fix for it. The problem is with Twitter. They modified the api and that broke peep. Either pester HTC for an update, or bother Twitter until they revert the change. Either of those are unlikely.

Why are you asking for ROM help in a random thread about Twitter? Shouldn't this question be posed in, oh, I don't know, the thread you got the ROM from?
i have been searching for thsi for a while and was certain it was somewhere on these forums but so far had no luck. a while ago i flashed a custom rom (which i cannot remember the name of) to my desire. i noticed that the stock keyboard was different to usual as it had the four cursor keys long the bottom line. does anyone know which keyboard i'm talking about, if so can you please point me in the right direction.thanks......................sudeki300
Maybe this thread helps you:
http://androidforums.com/android-applications/145794-keyboards-have-cursor-arrow-keys.html
Furthermore, i found out, that the keyboard you mean could be from gingervillian rom.
Hope, i could help you.

OK I've searched and searched for this answer and have come close but not what I'm looking for. I want to use a shutdown animation on my desire. Everywhere I looked posts' say its in system/media/video,or shutdown but no such folder exsists I have an HTS DESIRE CDMA/Rooted/CM recovery/ Running CM7 ROM. Ive posted over at CM forum also but have not gotten an answer. Since I'm not finding the folder on my own and have not recieved an answer on the other forum I'm hoping to get a little help here. I'm leaning towards the fact that its not built into the ROM but as I have come to know with a lot of things nothing is impossible as long as you are willing to keep trying. So ultimatley I'm hoping someone can at the least point me in a better direction since I've come to dead end after dead end. I give many thanks to all/any that can help me thanks!
/data/local/htc_downanimation.zip
Edit: Sorry, kotag82 is right, I didn't read carefully enough, on CM7 it's /system/media!

in cm7 is /system/media
if you will find your bootanimation.zip there... copy that and rename it to downanimation.zip... hope it is working as it was working for me in sense case... change permisions to execute in es explorer
Tried this Kotage82 is not working maybe I'm not understanding the permissions do you mean owner is execute or all permissions execute? I'm still getting the phone is shutting down image with spinning ring?
I;m thinking I need to add some script maybe??? I dont think CM7 supports downanimations
Even I am searching for the solution to the shudownanimation for CM based ROMs.
