i have been searching for thsi for a while and was certain it was somewhere on these forums but so far had no luck. a while ago i flashed a custom rom (which i cannot remember the name of) to my desire. i noticed that the stock keyboard was different to usual as it had the four cursor keys long the bottom line. does anyone know which keyboard i'm talking about, if so can you please point me in the right direction.thanks......................sudeki300
Maybe this thread helps you:

Furthermore, i found out, that the keyboard you mean could be from gingervillian rom.
Hope, i could help you.

Hey guys,
I've been trolling the forums for some time now, and I have yet to find the answer that I am looking for in regards to cooking my own ROMs - specifically for the HTC Vogue (Bell). I have looked through all sorts of stickies/readmes, but I still cannot figure out how to put it all together...
I've got a stock ROM from Bell, it has been extracted (so I have the bootloader, .nbh file and so on)...
Now HOW do I extract the .nbf, or even edit it for that matter? The only solution that I have found is the UNIX-based one, but I'll be honest, PERL and I dont get along well...is there a GUI or commandline based solution for WIN32?
I feel dumb for asking, but if someone could help me figure out the editing/compiling/flashing aspect, I'd be forever grateful
Thanks.
Most of the kitchens will take that nbh and parse it out in to the OEM and SYS folders you need.
I would suggest you search for DogGuy's command-line kitchen, and use that as a learning tool as he has batch files that automate most everything, and yet you can go through them to better understand what is happening.
Good luck!
Also some recent threads at ppcgeeks on this topic with useful info.

Yeah, I did check that post, however, it seemed that they were a step ahead of me...the tools that were provided did not (both gave application errors on launch...?).
Thanks for the replies, any one else have other tips, pointers, etc?
PPCGeeks.com is the answer...I still haven't found it yet...there's too much info on that site. Have you seen this thread:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=18745
By following that method its a TON of work...and that's using a 'kitchen' someone already made. What you and I want to do is create our own kitchen by stripping a stock rom...and there aren't any guides on how to do that...I'm assuming because that's even MORE work. So basically a (TON of work x MORE work) = Fu%$ that.
If you find a somewhat easy way to do this before I do, post it for us!

Hey, I didn't see that thread yet, looks interesting, thanks!
Now, I can't wait 'till I get home from work...
Hello everybody,
I'm about to finally flash my TP2 to the official 6.5 ROM (after going to the trouble of downloading it 3 days before release lol), and before I do that I wanted to have a copy of the current stock ROM, just in case I want/need to go back at any point (yeah, I'm anal about covering my bases on stuff like that).
But...I can't seem to find a copy of the same ROM I have on here now...there's other US Tmo 6.1 ROM's, but none match all the radio/build numbers I have (1.20.531.4/3.45.25.14), and I'd really like to have an exact match to what's on my phone now. Is it available anywhere?
If it's not yet, I'd be happy to hard-reset mine and then export it for everyone to have access to...if someone can point me to an instruction set for that
Bump-bump-ba-bump
this would be great to have for me also... i have the same radio/build number as you... so hopefully someone will be able to chime in and help.
I am going to be flashing to 6.5 custom rom in a little bit, but a backup would be great!

I was wondering the exact same thing...it says it's specific to the Magician (older HTC model, winmo 5.0), but it might work on 6.1...can anybody else here confirm that it does/doesn't? I'm a little concerned about just trying it blind, not sure if there's any potential to screw up the current ROM by using it on the wrong hardware.
In fact, if I can just find a (known safe) guide to doing the same thing on the TP2/6.1, I'll be happy to hard-reset my unit back to factory, and then export that ROM for whoever else wants to have a copy on hand.

i wish i knew away it could be done... i am flashing roms right now as we speak, hopefully somehow we can figure out away to make a back up of the ROM. well too late for me now since i already flashed over the 6.1
cdguider posted a dumped rom somewhere here...can't remember what thread, but he dumped his and I believe it was the same one that you need. As for the radio, I believe there is one on the board, possibly stickied...
try to find cdguider's posts and you may track down the rom.
Sorry I can't help more.

Yup, sure enough, that's the one! I found it right off the bat, all the version numbers match so this is the one I/we have been looking for, the thread is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550975
NOTE- for anyone else planning on keeping this as the "just in case" for when you flash up to the new 6.5, this 6.1 ROM does NOT include the radio (for calls/data, not FM music lol), but there's a link for that in the thread above.
YAY
Glad it worked out.
I had downloaded it, but it was on my other computer when I had responded earlier, so I couldn't up it and make a link.
I have had the 6.5 for a few days and the jury is still out, so I may well be flashing back to the 6.1 myself.
PS--thanks for the bonus points, I may be Feisty and Fabulous, but even a Feisty Woman likes bonus points for the effort!!

Hi there,
First of all! Great forum! You guys have build a great community and I like it. But I hope you can help me with this. i know there are a lot of threads about this, but because all the different type of phones/android versions ect... I don't know what to do...
My question, how can I get Adroid running on my HTC Touch Pro 2 (Rhodium). I have the standart version, so not a branded one.
I've tried to install it but android won't launch. Maby one of you could create a mini tutorial or a noob tutorial, because I think there are more people like me (with less knowedge of phone tech) who want to run android on their phones. I hope you could help me!
Thanks!
Kind Regards,
Sami

If you are installing this over an old version of android, and you do not format your SD card, make sure that you at least delete data.img file from your SD card!

Haret is part of the android program. (haret.exe)
You can either use a file explorer to navigate to storage card/android/haret
or with the .cab installs (anything after 2/22) you will get an icon in your start menu.

I have Android installed on my phone and it works fine except one MAJOR thing. I messed up the touch screen calibration and now I can't use the touch screen in android and I cant figure out how to recal the touch screen in android.
Got it. i just deleted the ts calibration file from the android project folder and started android again.

Ok man maybe you can help me out with the problem im having. I go to file explorer and i launch Haret.exe and it immediately takes me to the linux booting page with the penguin at top. But it soon stops saying "Cant access tty. Job control turned off. And it doesnt move from there. What am i doing wrong?
delete all the contents from the .cab file you downloaded, make sure your memory card has wiped any remaining files from the original download, re-install and make sure you are downloading the correct .cab file for your handset, install to memory card and try again.
Yo Ihwparis chill out. This is a forum for information trading and gathering. Everyone was a noob at one time or another including you and asked questions that have been asked a million times already. Stop treating people like idiots. Help them or stop reading the thread. Someone else will help them out. It's not that serious. I can tell you one problem here that I encountered was a thread would be started and trail off into someting completely different never answering the first question. After reading pages upoon pages you get nothing. Some people like myself have real lives and real jobs and dont have time to sit here and read every post. If you take it so serious maybe you should sticky an informative how to guide and maybe that will stop people from bothering you so much.

I was actually on XDA for about 6 months, reading, before I finally decided to even MAKE an account, because I didn't want to be "That Noob". It was about another 6 months to a year before I posted anything at all. As you said yourself, most questions have already been asked a million times. This means that it is only a matter of reading, before you find someone that has asked the same question. In most cases once you find the question, and read a little further it leads you to the answer. He was smart enough to post in the correct sub-forum, which means he must have read through the forums a bit anyways. It wouldn't have taken much more work to read the top 3 sticky threads in that same sub-forum, and find the answer to the question.
I can get the whole thing to load however I cannot ever get the start screen (touch the androind to start) to ever let me touch it. The only thing that works is the keyboard input. Any suggestions?
I flashed HardSPL on my tilt 2 last year with the Energy Rom using the GTX theme. Ever since I've been noticing that android is so much easier to use and I have been reading on the android Froyo development.
What I need to know is if I have to reflash Stock Rom with SSPL to be able to Flash the Android OS to it.
I've read all the FAQs and I have not seen this question on it and am wondering if anyone can answer it for me.
I don't know if I missed it or if I was looking for the answer at the wrong place.
So can someone please give me a link to a guide on how to do it properly because I don't want to brick my phone on the process. Also tips and precautions if you got any. Thank you!
Android can't be flashed to the phone a la WinMo yet.
Devs are working on it. Works great on my CDMA RHOD, but GSM is still a mystery...
To answer your question, you would need an unlocked bootloader (hSPL) to flash any unsigned image.
Android in its current form for our devices will run on stock SPL or hSPL, it doesn't care... everything runs off the SD card.
more questions
What is an Unasigned Image and what does it do or what is it for? Thank you for your answers.
Also how fast does Froyo run on the SD card. Is it slow? Is there a program to make android to auto start instead of it having to transtion from WM to android?

Unsigned image = anything that's not a stock ROM.
FroYo runs about as well as you can expect on our hardware... which I might mention predates Android entirely... Proc+RAM dates to 2007 on the TP2. Thanks HTC...
For making Android auto-start, search is your friend. Gen.Y is your answer.
Oh nice I didnt see it was you arrgggh. Ive read you posts all day for the past 3 days. I constantly wonder how you guys know all this stuff.
Have you guys thought about video instructions or image instructions for the forum?
I also had a question concerning your device. When you flashed the Cooked Rom on your device ( i know, not the android, its not cooked ) did it change the buttons on your keyboard? Mine did and Ive been looking like crazy for a program that allows me to set the keys to what ever character I want. I did come across it a year ago, but nowadays that post is long gone. Thank you for all your help.

Video/image instructions...? A few have made videos, but stuff changes so frequently it would get outdated very quickly. A PITA to maintain... It's really not that difficult, is it?
I assume you're talking WinMo. I haven't used it in over a year - but there was some weird issue that effected only Sprint devices, and there was some cab that I installed that fixed the issue. Sorry, I'm not much help for WinMo. Ask cajunflavoredbob, I just tell people not to use it .
OK I've searched and searched for this answer and have come close but not what I'm looking for. I want to use a shutdown animation on my desire. Everywhere I looked posts' say its in system/media/video,or shutdown but no such folder exsists I have an HTS DESIRE CDMA/Rooted/CM recovery/ Running CM7 ROM. Ive posted over at CM forum also but have not gotten an answer. Since I'm not finding the folder on my own and have not recieved an answer on the other forum I'm hoping to get a little help here. I'm leaning towards the fact that its not built into the ROM but as I have come to know with a lot of things nothing is impossible as long as you are willing to keep trying. So ultimatley I'm hoping someone can at the least point me in a better direction since I've come to dead end after dead end. I give many thanks to all/any that can help me thanks!
/data/local/htc_downanimation.zip

in cm7 is /system/media
if you will find your bootanimation.zip there... copy that and rename it to downanimation.zip... hope it is working as it was working for me in sense case... change permisions to execute in es explorer
Tried this Kotage82 is not working maybe I'm not understanding the permissions do you mean owner is execute or all permissions execute? I'm still getting the phone is shutting down image with spinning ring?
I;m thinking I need to add some script maybe??? I dont think CM7 supports downanimations
Even I am searching for the solution to the shudownanimation for CM based ROMs.
