Hi guys,
As you can see in the title, it's impossible for me to upgrade my HTC One X to Android 4.2.2.
I recently relocked the bootloader, to hopefully succesfully upgrade my HTC One X JB 4.2.2 OTA update..
When I boot the phone, I get the notification that the update is ready to be installed, since it has already been downloaded.
When I tap "Install update", my phone turns off and immediately boots into fastboot, without being connected with a usb to the computer or so.
My question is;
How can it be that everytime I try to install the update, my phone boots into fastboot (bootloader)?
Thanks in advance
Ps. I'm also S-ON but don't know how to S-OFF, and how do I get SuperCID?

I can't help with the update problem but what I can tell you is that s off for our devices is not available and maybe will not ever come
Just a guess but, did you flash stock recovery before installing official ota? It is needed

I'm not sure if you can use titanium backup because you will update to a whole new version and I wouldn't do that if I were you,
stock recovery is found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
I would just leave the bootloader unlocked. Backup photo's/files etc. on your computer, that's how I do it before flashing/installing anything

My CID is HTC__E11 so I clicked "Nandroid Backup 4.18.401.2 CID HTC__E11" but that file is 1.1 gb!
Is that right..?
I think you don't need to relock nor change recovery.
Just download your ota file when it asks for but don't install.
Power off your phone then reboot in recovery.
Install ota by flashing zip in download folder and reboot.
It should work.
See you

No you don't need a nandroid... It has already a custom recovery in it. search in the thread for 3.16 recovery that is probably what you are looking for. Or you can try the method stating above.

I searched on the internet for a nandroid and flashed it, after unlocking the bootloader. It's called "endeavoru_recovery_signed.img" and it's working properly, but atm the OTA is downloading so let's hope it will install so I can enjoy Android 4.2.2...!!

I did that multiple times, but it didn't work. It said it couldn't find the path to the OTA update.
I guess you meant installing it via CWM?
If yes, that didn't work. I just flashed the stock recovery. Let's see if that works, but thanks If something's wrong, I'll keep you up to date.
Okay, this is REALLY weird. My phone was installing the OTA update via Nandroid, and suddenly it rebooted and my phone was on factory settings and wiped all of my data..! What is happening?
I don't know, did you do official ota?

My phone is same cid as yours (HTC_044), and I got ota update to 4.2.2 normally. Thing is that mine was on stock recovery before the update, but yours is not. So try flashing stock recovery and proceed with update installation.
Also, my experience shows that it's always good to perform a "clean update" (factory reset) when upgrading to higher android version (4.1 to 4.2). You only need to backup your data/apps and restore/reinstall after the update. It wont take much time as you think but the phone will run smoothly ever since.
If you prefer clean update as I mentioned, there is a quicker way to update: flash stock rom of 4.2.2 directly and there you are with the new android.

Did it the same way with mine. I hat T-MOB101 CID, unlocked it. Performed s-off using sunshine. After this I changed CID to HTC__102 to flash stock 1.54.401.10 Ron an firmware, and finally flashed the 2.22.401.4 OTA via fastboot oem rebootRUU mode. Worked flawlessly!

I did it the following way: after obtaining s-off and changin the CID to WWE HTC__102 I flashed the 1.54.10 Rom with TWRP and after this the corresponding firmware. At last using fastboot oem rebootRUU I flashed the update "1.54.401.10 -> 2.22.401.4".
Hope it helps

Flashing the Rom you have to use a custom recovery e.g. TWRP. But if you flash the firmware the recovery will be overwritten by the stock recovery which you can't use to flash one of the backups which you need to install the 2.22.401.4 OTA later on.

soo i just did it
for anyone who is reading this thread, that's the way i did it:
coming from FW 1.70.111.1, Cid: T-Mob102, Unlocked Boatloader
- Installation TWRP
- Supersu.zip root
- Backup
- Transfered Rom to device
- tried firewater -> fail
- s-off with sunshine -> ok but 16€... no big deal, thanks to the team
- supercid
- flashed modded 2.22 FW (without red warnings at startup) thanks to: http://www.android-hilfe.de/root-cu...od-25-07-2014-fimware-hboot-2-22-401-4-a.html this fw does not contain a recovery, so twrp was still there
- flashed rom
---> working phone
thanks to all of you
Ok so by flashing the firmware, I won't lose any data correct? I'm on 1.54.401.5. Already rooted, twrp,su, the normal stuff. Just not supercid.

Correct. By flashing the new FW you won't loose any data. You just got to reflash the custom recovery after flashing the new FW.

I was on stock rom but my phone was cwm installed and bootloader unlocked. xposed was also installed there. When i found the update notification i deleted xposed from the apps then i flashed my recovery with a stock recovery that i have the backup in cwm. then i relocked the bootloader. i make it to download again and installed the update. there it happened all these issues
I had similar issue
I did the same thing but had TWRP as my custom recovery. I found a zip file for my stock recovery and uprooted through supers app then tried to run the Stage fright update. It would just reboot without being updated so I then tried to install a zip file of the stock update through stock recovery but it said my phone was a5_dug version and is not its a5_chl so I just stopped trying and deleted the update file. My point is that something is seeing off this update to phones that have had modified recoveries at one time. Even my stock recovery had to be entered differently than original due to a red triangle showing up and having to hold volume button then few seconds later hit power button. I got to recovery but couldn't get the update to work. Our you on a U. S. version of a5_dwg desire? Is you are your can get the ruu " rom upgrade utility" from htc/us/roms downloads then flasg that file from your command prompt using Adb fastboot. This file wipes all partitions and rewrites every single thing back to stock from radio files to system, boot, recovery images. It's possible to just get the rom. Img file from this ruu by running it as an executable and when the wizard opens to run the program atop and open start menu and type in %temp% then click temp folder and look for 3 long encrypted number letter files. One of those three in a subfolder has the rom. Img file. Copy it to the ADB fastboot folder then flash that. Otherwise either flash the ruu (or run the utility exe) with your stock recovery in fastboot and that should get your back to stock everything then you can reopen bootloader, reinstall CWM and reflash superuser or superSU. If course you would try to update Stage fright before reopening bootloader and rebooting but it should work.

http://http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f485/htc-desire-816-official-stock-roms-always-updated-1948682/ this file hosting site shows to have the lollipop firmware for a5_dwg India version. Haven't tried to download it but I have gotten my own copy of stock firmware here and it matched the HTC one I got later. It's hard to find the stock a5_dwg firmware from what I've heard. You can try this if all else fails but I can only vouch for the firmware I downloaded.

Hi.
As the MM 6.0 update is out i would like to try it but as i am not that much active since many months on m9 forum
Hence i need some assistance in updating.
I am using ATT S-on, bootloader unlocked, currently using a custom rom. What I plan to do is
1. S-off first.
2. change the cid to dev edition
3. Flash RUU.exe(through PC)
or
after s-off i flash just the firmware only ..then restore a backup ROM through twrp backup?
my doubt is do i need to be on stock recovery to flash an RUU ?
am i missing any step here?
Thank you
Once you S-Off
Change Cid to Developer Edition
Download the latest Developer Edition RUU. Exe or the RUU. zip which ever method is easier for you.
Then run/install the RUU to convert your AT&T M9 to Developer Edition.
You can leave the custom rom and TWRP Recovery installed as the RUU will over write it.
Once it's done then go to check for ota update should be 6.0 if you installed the latest RUU

Hi guys, I was trying to get my HTC M8 back to stock from VenomOneM8 ROM.
I was using the Venom ROM earlier, but now I want to update my M8 to marshmallow.
I was trying to returning all to stock, first was flashing stock recovery, then locking the bootloader and using the RUU to return to stock.
When running the RUU, I realise that the RUU is not working because it is a different region RUU. I read a post on XDA and someone said U/UL version can use the international RUU (.401).
Are there anyways to get out of this?
My region code is .710
CID: HTC__039
It's:
Bootloader relocked
Stock recovery
S-ON
No OS
4.20.710.5
Thank you

If no RUU exists for your version, the proper way to return to stock would be to: unlock the bootloader again (HTCDev.com process), then use the following guide to re-install TWRP, flash stock TWRP backup 4.20.710.5, than restore corresponding stock recovery. After that, you should be able to update (assuming the update is rolling out for your version).
