Android Pay - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone been able to add their cards to it? I'm on LeeDroid and it won't let me add my cards due to "me device not being compatible" or something like that... I wonder if it is the ROM.

same issue here, isnt it for US only?

You have to be in the US and also won't work on custom ROM.
If you're on a stock but rooted ROM you just need to disable root the go thru the set-up process then turn root back on.
I'm also on leedroid and can't use Android pay. I'm most likely just going to go back to stock so I can use Android pay. I don't really use any of these ROM options anyways so I won't miss anything

Thanks for the info guys, I am in the US, ROM won't get along with it as it seems.

Disadvantages in Rooting Now vs Later

I've had my Desire for a few weeks now. My only issue is the lack of space for apps.
I really want APP2SD and I understand that google will implement it officially soon.
Is there any disadvantages of rooting now instead of waiting till later?
If I root now and a new method that allows me to access recovery (like my previous hero and magic) comes out later, will I be able to take advantage of it?
regards,
Ice
It's very easy to do that. If anything new comes out that allows easier recovery mode access then all you need to do is "unroot" the phone by flashing a stock rom and you're back to square one again.

can't you keep it in the same thread? =='
If you don't wanna use the search function, that's up to you, but a least look at thread in the first page. thanks.
I do apologise, I guess I thought my main issue was slightly different.
that is, that if I use paul's method, My concern is the inability to reflash a recovery akin to that of magic or hero's recovery in the future.
Is there any particular function you want that you don't already have? You don't want to be rooting just because you can.
As of right now the nexus one still can't "relock" the bootloader, so i don't know when you can do it with the Desire. If the only function you want is app2sd then i suggest you wait.
i personally would rather wait
coming from a HD2, constantly flashing a new ROM was proven to cause issues as there were file fragments left behind from previous builds which were causing problems
the only solution to this was a full format of the entire phone and then flash a new ROM (this took a long time to develop)
i am currently unaware of a method of formatting the Desire to this degree and believe that constantly flashing different ROMs will make bugs in the system.
*speaking from HD2 experience here..

That's because the Nexus One can be officially unlocked using that method. Google released the phone with that ability almost straight out of the box at the cost of your warranty.
The Desire however can be easily unrooted. All you need to do is flash back to a stock HTC rom and it will be back to normal.

Ahhh I see. Then i guess it wouldn't hurt to root it becuase you can always "unroot"?

Yes exactly. When the Desire and the Nexus One were being compared people were saying that they prefer the Nexus because it was rooted. Now look who's laughing

[Q] Why do we root?

The title says it all
with the iPhone we jailbreak it in order to install cr**ked Apps and install some other Apps that cant work without the necessary privileges (ex tethering), what about Android devices?
Thanks
Because we can and it's my phone and I don't want to be told what I can do with it, but the primary reason for me to Root and S-OFF is so i can install CM7
Rooting means that you can flash whatever custom rom you want from proposed android gingerbread (before its officially released) to chinese MIUI rom (similarities to iphone). whichever takes your fancy....as there are alot to choose from.....you can also overclock your device to improve speed and underclock to improve battery....you also get total freedom to file manage your phone and make necessary backups if anything were to go wrong....this is just some of the endless possibilities of rooting...
Hope this helps
Rooting gives you full access to your phone.

I rooted mine to get rid of all the rubbish bloatware that comes with being an Orange UK customer. They suck for bloatware, takes over everything! In your face Orange!
also, rooting gives us the possibility to overclock/underclock!
it is necessary to install custom rom.i advise to you.
we root in the pursuit of perfection
we root because we need more control over our phone. we only want what we need and remove what we don't need. stock ROM is good, but its not enough.

[rom] basic stock rom

Here's a basic stock rom in case you need it sometime
the only modifications made are the su and flash_image binaries are included and ro.secure has been turned to 0 so you can adb remount.
How to flash download the rom from here
Place rom on sdcard
wipe data and all else
then flash rom
reboot and do what you need to do
Cool, you never know when you might need this.
Thank you! Appreciated.

How is this comparable to the rom listed here?
bit ly backslash fBEJnU
I want to have a known working recovery before I make any more changes to my phone. I am not exactly a newbie to this stuff (I have a Pandigital Novel that has been rooted and hacked into a nice tablet) but this is taking things to a whole new level for me and I need my phone. So I'm a bit nervous.
Of course I really wish I'd asked around some before I got to work on removing some of the stuff on it already (mostly known junkware from Virgin Mobile and stupid stuff like weblinks pretending to be native apps) after rooting it with superoneclick and installing root explorer. I need to know if your rom or the one I linked to will be able to allow me to roll back to a default installation that I can revert to if there are any issues down the road. Can you help me?
I apologize if this isn't the right place for this question. Thank you for the many mods I have seen you do already. I look forward to trying them once I have a fallback plan.

I'm not actually sure what your talking about but I've posted this on three different sites so far. I do that for the guys that don't go to other forums. There probably isn't any difference in the roms.

I'm talking about the one by takehull posted on sdx-developers here.
Yours is not exactly stock since you added su and flash_image binaries--or does that really not matter?
Thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure exactly how his is different since I didn't build it. I'm gonna guess and say his probably doesn't have the binaries in it, I'm not sure exactly how his is different since I didn't build it. I'm gonna guess and say that his doesn't have the binaries in it. I don't know. Honestly the only way to know for sure that it's stock rom is to get someone that hasn't rooted yet flash the recovery and get a backup of system. I've been waiting for someone like that to come along but ... It hasn't happened yet.
I won't tell you which forums to watch but I'm partial to xda cuz I been on here since my first android phone and it doesn't have those flash ads that pop up cover your entire screen until you click the x.

My only excuse is that it was late when I found the thread and I wasn't reading clearly. Going by that statement his rom and your rom basically seem to be the same things.

Forgive my ignorance, but isn't rooting actually a requirement of obtaining the backup? Or did I misread the instructions somewhere? It'd be nice if someone at Virgin Mobile were to leak the complete rom somewhere so people had a fall back option besides trying to return the phone as bricked. (If that's even possible?)

Sounds like a good reason to pick a forum. Not sure if I'm a member of any places that do that since I run with adblock and noscript enabled most of the time.
Any chance you could link me to written instructions on how to flash the rom you have here? I know you have video tutorials but those are harder to follow for me because I am hard of hearing. Music I can do because it is "beautiful noise" and I can usually find some lyrics to get the words of. Your video HOWTOs are not good for me because I have to strain to hear what is being said.
Thanks again for your time and patience in replying to me.

Thanks. Dude above me, there is a rom flashing tutorial at prepaidandroids.net. We will help you out there. Its a site that specializes in on the Optimus v itself.
(Optimus V - Contracts Suck)
Thanks for posting this. It just came in handy when I was changing my virgin phone number. Part of the process is dialing ##841446# to bring up the activation menu, but the ## prefix on CM7 does not work, apparently only a stock ROM can do that.
Any way to put it on a phone friendly site? No matter what browser I use on my phone it will not download from google docs.

THANKS, this worked perfectly.
It's pretty much as described, a stock Opt V rom, with Super User already set up and installed.
Titanium worked on it no problem as well.
thanks a ton man! i needed to flash back to stock to get my 3G working again. if you flash a custom rom while youre between payments, you know, during down time, you may need to flash back to stock and run the activation app next time you put service on your phone.
worked like a charm. i thought my 3G was broken. im doing a happy dance now!
Anyway I can get a link to the stock rom with all the bloatware removed but not rooted?

[Q] Thinking of trying new ROMs

As the Title says, I am thinking of trying new ROMS for my phone. I am posting this in the T-Mobile Q & A because...well...I have a T-Mobile phone and I am not sure if other manufacturers have their file systems the same as T-Mobiles.
Anyway before I go ROM happy so-to-speak...I am just wondering a few things;
STATEMENT: My phone is unlocked (I called TMo and got the code from them)
QUESTION: will my phone retain it's unlocked status?
STATEMENT: My phone is rooted
QUESTION: Will my phone retain it's Root Status?
ASSUMPTION: Yes so long as the ROM I flash too has SU.
STATEMENT: I purchased apps from the Market such as Titanium Backup Pro, Super User Elite, Root Explorer, ect...
QUESTION: Will these be "Carried over" to the new ROM and still be installed or would I have to re-install them?
QUESTION: Are all the apps from the market compatible with all the roms out there? (For example: ES File Explorer, or games that use the accelerometer, or Market Enabler as I am in afghanistan right now as a civilian contractor) and if not, how can I tell if an app is compatible with a certain ROM?
If I could get answers to these questions before I go and flash a new ROM (Especially the Unlocked Phone question) that would be great.

I apologize as I do not know this. Maybe try to find someone in here that is using this phone on ATT. As an assumption I do not think flashing a custom rom will overwrite your unlocking.

YES, any app you have purchased in the market will carry on to any ROM or phone you use so long as your sign in with the google account you used to purchase the app. Well, as long as it's a compatible app with that phone.

Any app that you are currently using will be compatible with any TouchWiz ROM. There is, however, a couple AOSP/CM7 ROM's out there and you could, not probably, but could run into compatibility issues.
All of your paid apps are liked to your Google sign in and account. So as soon as you reload on your new rom you can redownload them whenever. It will usually give you an option in the first startup to keep it linked and autobackup.
Most roms (if not all) have root. So You should be autorooted. As far as unlocking I am not sure, but if not couldn't you just unlock it again using the code they gave you?

You will not lose the SIM unlock when you flash a new ROM. What I did find though, was that I was unable to unlock the phone while running CM7, I had to flash back to a stock-based ROM.

Well before I flashed to Juggernaut I backed up my APKs and of course had to reinstall them. Redownloading them from the market was a last resort as our internet speeds out here in afghanistan would of meant it would of taken HOURS to download.

[Q] Seeking 1on1 help from a dev PLEASE!

Hello devs.. I have an HTC one Verizon and I just switched to straight talk. well while I am at it, I want to unlock completely and install a custom ROM get rid of verizons crap.. I am out of practice really. I used to have all the HTC incredibles, the tilt 2. It was so easy for me to follow how to unlock and cwm and root those phones.
I just cannot grasp how to do all that with this phone. I would like to know or be pointed to the right direction or maybe get some personal walkthroughs to get s-off, unlocked bootloader, obtain root.
everywhere I have been looking, I just don't understand. I have already ported my sim and number from straight talk and did a factory reset. I obviously have the most current updates. I really would like some help otherwise im afraid im going to brick my phone or be forced to keep the Verizon factory.
Android is 5.0.2
Sense is 6.0
6.55 is SDK API level
please help.. I will be avail all day tomorrow to get this all done.
Thank you

Do a google search for "sunshine HTC One m7 Verizon". That is the ONLY way to s-off the phone if you have the newest software already. After that, you can use fastboot to install recovery just like you would have in the old days of your old devices. Look up santod's roms. He has a recovery build you can use with a download link. I also recommend his roms themselves as well. He is very responsive if you follow his instructions and puts out high quality work. Good luck.

Yeah, I was just answering his question about how to unlock and rom. I don't know anything about using it on straight talk. I'd imagine it might work ok, but he's probably not going to have all the bands for full GSM support. Regardless, I think a mod should probably move this out of development section.

well I still have Verizon active... I can just swap sim cards for now then do all the programming then swap back? straight uses same towers and bands as Verizon... same sims just different numbers. I don't see why there would be that big of an issue? and sorry if I posted in the wrong forum category
