Zenfone 2 screen replacement problems - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I cracked the screen on my Zenfone 2, ordered Chinese replacement..didn't work (or so I thought) ordered another from a US supplier, hooked it in & still nothing..is there some kind of trick to installing or am I missing something? I see a faint light flicker, then nothing. When I removed the screen I didn't notice there was another seal screw next to the camera so unfortunately I kinda of pulled and yanked until I figured that's what was holding the cover onto the frame. it's not mentioned anywhere, but I removed the screw & the cover. . So do you think this phone is salvageable? Did I fudge something up by yanking? Just need someone who is familiar with the process to help me out

any thoughts?

take apart lg ks20

i need to take apart my ks20. want to repaint the chrome like frame that goes around the phone (lg used some cheap paint, it comes off really easy). I have looked at the service manual, but couldn't get anywhere. After taking out the battery and sim card, there are to screws on top that i removed, i tried to remove the back plastic cover (the one with the camera opening) and no luck, it doesn't budge.
does someone know how to do this? i think the service manual is somewhere on the site, but i have no idea how to proceed.
thanx a lot

thanx for the link, but i have looked at the manual and can't make up anything of it
it doesn't say how to go about taking it apart, all it shows is a diagram with all the pieces
is there anyone here who knows or at least has an idea about this, i really need to get it repainted (i hate scratched phones)
thanx a lot
Maybe some one can answer this question? I also need to disassemble my KS20 - because of dirt on camera lens...
The disassembly is fairly straightforward - remove the battery, remove the visible screws, run a special tool along the black plastic and unclip. It's not easy, but it will come off. The back cover houses thermal pad, because KS20 gets quite hot from time to time. I guess LG didn't anticipate that happening, so the pad is a bit of a last resort solution from them, quite unorthodox.
As far as middle silver strip is concerned, it houses a flex, so unless you know what you are doing - don't bother touching beyond the back cover.
hi, i dissambled my ks20 today.. and i think there's a problem...
my screen wont turn on anymore...there are still sounds and even the touch screen is working..its just that my screen is not showing anything...
i think the connection between the screen and the motherboard was loose...
but then again, i cannot find the connector... can someone help me with this...
Hi,
Read this KS20
By.
tqso much....
i just receive my digitizer today... but i have no idea to repair it myself...can u guide me?
We took my ks20 apart. The screen opened up a bit when it was removed, so perhaps it's broken. We did manage to get the digitizer off however..
Problem is the digitizer was glued with a helluva lot of glue. How will we get it to stick when we put it back? I read some use double-sided tape, but won't that be way too thick?
Glue seems to be the only solution, but what kind and how much? The screen also seemed to have been glued in place.
Will any kind of super glue work? Only a couple of drops perhaps? I'm pretty sure the phone won't be tight after this but..
Anyone who's done this procedure.. What did you use? We're gonna finish this tomorrow so I'm very grateful for any advice.
bump
This is important.

The sensor is magnetic that 'senses' whether or not the keyboard is open.
iFixIt.com is a great site to help with teardowns/troubleshooting.
thank you , that joged my memory. well at least i hope i can get it fixed or the wife will kill me....
I also need to replace my case, the silver colored edge has cracked in a few places. Might I ask where you got your replacement case from? Any tips you can give from your experience replacing it?
for the replacement of the silver case can you find at http://www.amazon.com/Silver-Housing-HTC-Repair-Replacement/dp/B0052QW60Y
and at http://shop.brando.com/htc-touch-pro-2-replacement-back-cover-silver_p04432c1050d039.html
i got mine off e-bay http://www.ebay.com/itm/370526944677?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
had all the parts i needed, everything worked well. only trouble i had was the the magnet for the screen rotation. remounting the brass screw inserts was fun, what i did was use one the longer screws same size. and heated the brass up and screwed the brass insert in.
other little tips. there will be little plastic parts and need re-secured. i just heated up a end of a T25 to melt the little tabs.
have fun it took me about 2 hours and , had to take part the phone a few times to make sure i got it all right.

Note 4 Repair Issues

I had my note 4 screen assembly replaced after I dropped it. However, the screen is no longer completely secured in the phone. The screen pushes into the frame if I place pressure on the screen and I can get my finger under the edge of the assembly on the top left corner. The home button is also loose, but gets tight like it should be if I hold the screen down. This is an annoying issue and I've recently noticed that dust is getting inside the phone, which I'm worried will cause hardware damage. The front camera is already blurry and cloudy from dust getting inside. If I take the screen off and apply new adhesive, will the screen sit in the frame like it should or is it impossible to restore the feel on a phone with a screen replacement to what it was like from the factory? I hope you hear from you guys, and thanks in advance.
I would take it to a local Sprint service and repair location (or where ever you got your screen replacement). They should be able to reseat your screen in the housing and clean your camera right up. In terms of applying new adhesive, you shouldn't really need to. The 15 some odd screws on the back should take care of it. Source: I'm a S&R Technician
Thanks for the help! My problem is that I'm hesitant to return to the shop where I got the screen replaced, because when they originally replaced it I was unsatisfied with how it fit so I went back and had them do some more work. It was alright at first, but it began to get steadily worse in a fairly short amount of time. So I'm a little cautious of going back there to ask them to do more work. If I asked them to reseat the screen assembly, do you think it would help? Also, is it possible to return to an almost-factory feel with a replaced screen or do I need to accept that the assembly will never be quite as tight as it originally was?
Similar issue
I had a similar issue and I took it back to sprint which they fixed regardless of my device being rooted.
Did you have the screen replaced before you took it to sprint, or was the screen loose from the factory?
you can find the replace guide at ifixit, I don't leave the link, you can google it.
If you want to buy original LCD screen ,you can go to the HCQS.

Anyone ever replaced their LCD screen?

Hi all-
My MZF went for a swim a couple weeks back. Put it in a bag with some DO NOT EAT desiccant packets for a few days, actually got it to turn back on, except the Power Button didn't work and the camera crashed every time I tried to open it.
I replaced the camera module and volume rocker/power strip with OEM used parts from eBay. Phone came back on, power button and camera worked, and everything actually seemed good until I plugged the phone in to charge.
I came back a little while later and the screen is black. Phone still vibrated on fingerprint touch, and when trying to power up/down with the power button. Did not come back on reboot, and every so often can see a very brief flash on the screen. No sound either. Thinking I somehow fried the display when I plugged it back in. Thinking about getting a replacement, but all the used ones on eBay are scratchy and/or burned in, and all the "new" "OEM" ones just seem shady.
Anybody ever done anything like this? Looking for any insight!
get a scratched screen and lay a glass screen protector on it this will hide some imperfections and prevent more. i replaced my screen once already and it waqs a pain but my moto branded part works great it came from a bad imei number
Found a decent OEM screen on eBay, didn't appear to be in too bad of shape. Definitely going to put a screen protector on it to help with any scratches. Sitting in my PO box right now, and and gonna try installing it this evening!
I am debating replacing mine. The screen scratched at the FFC and made any front pictures blurry. Did some rigging as a temp fix, but the camera sensor is now not covered by the plastic. If I do replace of, I'll do a tear down video. The screen isn't too hard to remove. Of almost came of when I ripped the protector off.

Has anyone Repaired their Pixel XL? and how was it?

I need a new daughterboard because this morning my phone stopped charging. Well I can't decide if I should go and pay someone $80 to do it for me or to do it myself. I've never paid for anyone to repair anything for me before I've always done it myself and I have most of the tools I need to do it (aside from a heat gun) . What has me nervous is taking the screen off. Has anyone else done this and how does it look after? Also did you break the glass?
I just remember the fiasco and mess of replacing my fist iPad Air 2 screen and it seems to be similar. I just don't want a half working phone when I'm done (but also at this point I could've bought a pixel 2 XL with what it's costing me)
So thanks if you have any feedback
I've put 3 screens 1 new daughterboard 1 notification led and put the black glass on the white frame.
Just use plenty of heat, and take your time.
Edit: I broke the glass one time, removing the screen from the top first.
I would recommend a bottom corner as your starting point.
Edit, edit: I just saw your other thread. I don't know if I would replace the daughterboard before I was certain the motherboard was in working order.
Check if your repair shop will do a thorough diagnosis before repair of anything.
