Option button turns blue and is very hot when charging - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

Last night, the screen of Note 2014 edition turned black again. So I opened my tab and removed and reconnected the LCD cable and power cable. The screen went back on but I noticed that the OPTION BUTTON was no longer lighting while the BACK BUTTON was still lighting.
Today, when I tried charging my tab, the OPTION BUTTON turned blue while the BACK BUTTON did not light at all. It was also very very hot. Like burning sensation hot.

Can anyone please help me? Can this be fixed without going to the service center?

Display not coming on

Hi
Anybody come across this? Put my note 10.1 2014 to sleep last night and now I can't get the display to come back on to the home screen, I get the sounds if I volume up or down, the menu and back light up if I touch them, I can toggle the switch in the middle but my display stays black.
I've only had it for 3 weeks and its been great, any help or advice would be great.
Many thanks
Hold the power button for like 30 seconds to a minute for it to reboot?
itchiee,

[Q] Display and touch screen major issues following lollipop update.

Problems with my Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 SM-T705:
1st: October 2014
2 weeks after buying, my tablet's battery drained overnight from 45% to zero. Next morning, I turned my tab on after charging to find out that the Tab starts but without any Samsung GAlaxy Tab S logo or Samsung Logo and the Screen has turned green, rendering it difficult to read in auto brightness mode or low brightness mode.
I restarted the device 2-3times and the device started working normally. This was my 1st device restart. I never used to power off the device before.
In 1st 6months, this greenish display problem n logo problem occured 2-3times, and i ignored it, because, it used to get resolved by itself with restart and I had no service centre in and around 50km to my work place.
2nd: January 2014
My device all of a sudden stopped working.. actually hanged.. I managed to turn it off but failed to restart it.
Later I realised that the device has restarted, but the screen was not responding when the screen blinked for a moment with the opening of book cover.. and the back cover of device was warm..
Googling taught me the way to access recovery screen n I opened recovery mode with "power+vol down+home key" and pressing vol down in recovery screen to restart tab.. again the tab started working fine..
3rd: Lollipop update: May 2015
I did Lollipop update. The device was smooth to operate at first. But gradually, i noticed that unlocking the tab failed to light up the display everytime, just the soft keys lighted up. But one day, the device freezed with no response from touch screen. I was unable to switch off the device also.. I had to drain the battery by playing music using S voice to turn the device off. "power+vol down+home key" too was not working.
On googling, I learned to reset device with "power+vol up+vol down" keys pressed together. finally the device restarted, but the device used to hang occassionally.
Googling let me know that i need to factory reset device upon firmware update for normal functioning, which i didn't do after update. so, I backed up my device, uninstalled many apps to make the device run a bit smooth and did a factory reset.. Resetting didn't improve the situation much, but now, the device display failed to light up on a regular basis on unlocking most of the time..
Now the situation is that, the device turns on, finger print scanner works, all apps n everything working, but display remains black, and touch screen is not responding.. using sidesync, everything on Tab can be accessed via laptop.
Tricks tried:
1) Factory reset
2) power+ vol up+vol down
3) power+ vol up+home key
4) power+ vol down + home key
5) Power off using sidesync and then restart
Results: All failure. Everything works but the display never lights up normally..
Plzz help....:crying::crying:
Bump. I'm starting to have similar problems with my SM-T800 running 5.0.2. I open the cover and the device fails to turn on. I press the power button and the screen stays black but the notification bar turns on. I can shake the crap out of the device and the screen stays black but I can see the notification bar flicker. Driving me batty.
If i had any problems like you guys, I would just return it to the place i bought it, for a refund or replacement or even a repair, post it to the service centre if it`s too far to travel too.
You problems sound like battery and or loose connector inside your tablet, it happens frequently on Samsung tablet for the connectors to come loose, if the tablet is dropped or twisted, no outside damage might be seen.
John.

Phone seems to turn on, but screen completely dark.

Hi,
My S4 SGH-M919 is having a problem where it appears to turn on, charge, and boot to the OS, but there is no response from the screen. The bottom buttons illuminate but the screen doesn't want to turn on. I've tried removing the battery and holding the power button down for an X-number of seconds, but this doesn't seem to do the trick.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
With the phone powered off, connect the phone to the charger. If you see the charging animation, sounds to me like the screen may be damaged or the LCD/motherboard connector is loose.
Was the phone every dropped or bumped?

Note 5 with serious issues: Screen dim (Almost unreadable), battery icon center

I was given a Note 5 to fix. I do not know the history of the device. If a Android update was attempted or why it is needing to be fixed. It presented with a very dim (almost unreadable, except in completely dark room) screen. I have wiped cache and master reset the device. I can see that the powered off battery icon is center screen all the time and it is solid black. I cannot power it off via the normal power button but I can power it on. I can power it off using the power button + volume down. The touchscreen is responsive and not cracked or broken at all. The back, multi and home buttons react normally to touch and light up. When plugged into power or PC, it does charge and will show a red LED when charging and a green LED when battery is full. The sounds are normal as far as I can tell. I cannot get the screen to change when I swipe or press a center button. I was able to get a picture of a begrizzled man peering closely at the phone trying to figure out what the hell the problem is. So, softwarewise, some of it seems to be working. But, I cannot figure out the dim screen. Like I said earlier, there no cracks or even scratches in either glass, front or back. The bottom portion of the stylus is broken, but I was able to use a tiny phillips head to stick up in the open area and it working. I get a sound and vibration when it is removed and inserted.
Any ideas?

For some reason when the phone detects that the battery is under 5%, it will forcibly dim the screen until it is charged above 5% or plugged in. Maybe the phone thinks that the battery is at or below 5%. Have you tried plugging it into a power source to see if the screen lights up?

Update #1 - Somehow, without knowing how, I managed to turn on an Accessibility option for the phone to tell me what buttons or actions I have taken. Unfortunately for it is in Spanish. I guess I should have taken Spanish in high school...

Yes, I have plugged it to the wall, I have plugged it to my PC and I have wireless charged it. It seems to charge to full as the red LED turns green.

Please help me fix my brick Samsung Galaxy Note8

Hi everyone. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (the region in Vietnam) is my first smartphone. While using TWRP to install a Rom of Dr.Ketan (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...folder-i-jio-volte-i-gear-spay-i-dex.3681163/), I accidentally chose something wrong (Choosing to go to a Library, then choose Exit... Something like that). After that, my phone turned off, and has these symptoms:
1. It vibrated after I pressed any buttons, or hard press to the screen (in place of the Home screen button). I tried Vol Up+Bixby+Power, but the TWRP didn't show up like it used to.
2. I checked the internet and found a step: Vol Down + Power. It helped my phone screen light up and displayed "Samsung Galaxy Note8 POWERED BY android", and it keeps displaying like that without any changes.
3. I tried to plug the charging cable, but the charging light on the phone didn't respond. Only the screen logo responded as it changes to the charging screen (with no battery % show up). The charging icon is in white color.
I hope someone here can help me fix my phone. Thank you in advance!
