Hi everyone. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (the region in Vietnam) is my first smartphone. While using TWRP to install a Rom of Dr.Ketan (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...folder-i-jio-volte-i-gear-spay-i-dex.3681163/), I accidentally chose something wrong (Choosing to go to a Library, then choose Exit... Something like that). After that, my phone turned off, and has these symptoms:
1. It vibrated after I pressed any buttons, or hard press to the screen (in place of the Home screen button). I tried Vol Up+Bixby+Power, but the TWRP didn't show up like it used to.
2. I checked the internet and found a step: Vol Down + Power. It helped my phone screen light up and displayed "Samsung Galaxy Note8 POWERED BY android", and it keeps displaying like that without any changes.
3. I tried to plug the charging cable, but the charging light on the phone didn't respond. Only the screen logo responded as it changes to the charging screen (with no battery % show up). The charging icon is in white color.
I hope someone here can help me fix my phone. Thank you in advance!

Hello,
I am having an issue with my S 3. It is not booting up as it should. The model is SGH-1747M.
I have tried the following and have had the following results:
1) The phone is non-responsive when attempting to power it on with the power button.
2) If I remove the battery, with the phone not plugged in, and then put the battery back in, the phone begins to power on by itself. It vibrates once and then loads to the Samsung screen and then goes off.
3) If I plug the phone in without the battery, the phone vibrates once and the red charging light comes on but then goes off after a couple seconds.
4) If I plug the phone in without the battery, and then insert the battery as soon as the red light comes on, the charging screen comes on but then the phone goes off after a couple seconds.
5) If I put the battery in with the phone unplugged and hold Volume Down, Power and the Home Button, the phone boots to the screen where you can push up on volume to flash new firmware. If I stay on this screen without pressing anything, the phone turns off after a couple seconds. If I push up on the power button, it goes to the screen with the green android man but then turns off after a couple seconds.
6) If I put the battery in with the phone unplugged and hole Volume Up, Power and Home and then release them on the Samsung screen, blue writing pops up in the top left corner (I couldn’t read quick enough what it says) while still on the Samsung screen and then it loads to a screen saying Samsung Galaxy S III and then the phone turns off.
These problems started when I attempted to connect my phone to my laptop to transfer songs over to it. I connected the phone and the battery was charging, but it wasn’t showing up as connected on my laptop. So, I turned the phone off to restart it but when I went to turn it back on, these issues started.
The phone was rooted and has been for the last 7 months without any changes to the firmware or updates to the firmware in that time period and has not encountered any problems prior. I’m not sure what firmware the phone was on prior to this.
If anyone could offer any assistance with this it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Hi,
I'm no expert, but it looks like a faulty/stuck power button. It's normal for the phone not to completely boot up when it is powered off and then plugged in to USB. But it is not normal for the phone to reboot itself when in recovery or in Android. That's why I think the power switch might be the cause.
Problems with my Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 SM-T705:
1st: October 2014
2 weeks after buying, my tablet's battery drained overnight from 45% to zero. Next morning, I turned my tab on after charging to find out that the Tab starts but without any Samsung GAlaxy Tab S logo or Samsung Logo and the Screen has turned green, rendering it difficult to read in auto brightness mode or low brightness mode.
I restarted the device 2-3times and the device started working normally. This was my 1st device restart. I never used to power off the device before.
In 1st 6months, this greenish display problem n logo problem occured 2-3times, and i ignored it, because, it used to get resolved by itself with restart and I had no service centre in and around 50km to my work place.
2nd: January 2014
My device all of a sudden stopped working.. actually hanged.. I managed to turn it off but failed to restart it.
Later I realised that the device has restarted, but the screen was not responding when the screen blinked for a moment with the opening of book cover.. and the back cover of device was warm..
Googling taught me the way to access recovery screen n I opened recovery mode with "power+vol down+home key" and pressing vol down in recovery screen to restart tab.. again the tab started working fine..
3rd: Lollipop update: May 2015
I did Lollipop update. The device was smooth to operate at first. But gradually, i noticed that unlocking the tab failed to light up the display everytime, just the soft keys lighted up. But one day, the device freezed with no response from touch screen. I was unable to switch off the device also.. I had to drain the battery by playing music using S voice to turn the device off. "power+vol down+home key" too was not working.
On googling, I learned to reset device with "power+vol up+vol down" keys pressed together. finally the device restarted, but the device used to hang occassionally.
Googling let me know that i need to factory reset device upon firmware update for normal functioning, which i didn't do after update. so, I backed up my device, uninstalled many apps to make the device run a bit smooth and did a factory reset.. Resetting didn't improve the situation much, but now, the device display failed to light up on a regular basis on unlocking most of the time..
Now the situation is that, the device turns on, finger print scanner works, all apps n everything working, but display remains black, and touch screen is not responding.. using sidesync, everything on Tab can be accessed via laptop.
Tricks tried:
1) Factory reset
2) power+ vol up+vol down
3) power+ vol up+home key
4) power+ vol down + home key
5) Power off using sidesync and then restart
Results: All failure. Everything works but the display never lights up normally..
Plzz help....:crying::crying:
Bump. I'm starting to have similar problems with my SM-T800 running 5.0.2. I open the cover and the device fails to turn on. I press the power button and the screen stays black but the notification bar turns on. I can shake the crap out of the device and the screen stays black but I can see the notification bar flicker. Driving me batty.
If i had any problems like you guys, I would just return it to the place i bought it, for a refund or replacement or even a repair, post it to the service centre if it`s too far to travel too.
You problems sound like battery and or loose connector inside your tablet, it happens frequently on Samsung tablet for the connectors to come loose, if the tablet is dropped or twisted, no outside damage might be seen.

Here's the story.
I was playing games in my phone until I slept but forgot to remove my phone from being charged. When I woke up, my phone no longer turns on.
Here are what's happening and current status
- Rooted and has custom ROM
- Currently not detected by Odin when plugged into PC.
- When I turn on the phone, the Samsung logo does not appear. Order of screen appearance is that is is lit up but the screen is still black, then less lit then unlit.
- The scenario above also happens when I plug my phone in the PC but there is no light indicating that the phone is being charged
- I tried the Home + Power + Vol Up or Vol Down combination but the phone does not reset. Recovery or download mode does not show up.
Can anyone help on what happened?
Regards,
Cedrick
UPDATE
Phone can now be detected by Odin. I can flash the Bootloader and TWRP recover. However, there isn't anything that appears on the screen of the phone. Do you think this is more of broken LCD?
Also on the screen, there is a part that is white and this is the hottest part. The phone is gotta be warm when turned on but this part is too hot.

Seems like the screen is borken
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to rescue the contacts of a S4 mini with a completely broken screen (just black). I found some post stating:
First remove battery and reinsert, then press volume down, home and power button at once until the device vibrates, release and push volume up. Connect USB and flash the TWRP recovery with Odin. After removing/reinserting battery press volume up home and power. It should be in MTP mode.

As I can't see what happens on the phone I tried it several times but no luck. What happens is:
I press all the mentioned keys until it vibrates and when I release the buttons to press volume up, it vibrates again and a few seconds later the Samsung jingle is playing (I guess this is normal booting). Any idea, what I'm doing wrong?

depends what was causing your blank/black screen. If the cable has come loose then it will not work until it's reinserted.
What caused the black screen? Did you drop it?
Is there any sign of power in the screen? Is the black screen you mention caused by "no power" or "no image", do you think?
If no power seems to be getting to screen then you should take the back off and the inner cover and check the connectors, as first step. But could be other hardware failure (if not software).
Hi guys,
since yesterday i have a weird issue with my samsung tablet. It won't turn on anymore. If I try a hard reset it does not react at all. I pressed The power + volume up as well as power+vol up+ home button for ages. If i try power + volume down it shows a display with
" warning!!! a custom OS can cause critical problems......... Volume up:continue Volume down: Cancel (restart phone) "
I've tried both options. If I hit vol down it just turn black again and nothing happens, if i press the up button the next screen tells me it's in download mode and i must not turn it off.
Since the screen stays on for ages it cannot be an batterie issue i guess. After a while i really did turn it off. But the problem persists.
Another important thing to mention. The day before i installed NordVPN and played a bit with it. Same on my iPad and my iPad had the very same issue the next day. Luckily the hard reset on the Ipad worked right away. It turned on again and i deleted the NordVPN.
Do you have any idea how to fix this, and maybe what caused it.
Thank you very much!!
Your in the S1 section not the S3 one, though what fixes an S1 boot problem most likely fixes an S3 as well, below is the link to the S3 section.
Good Luck.
