[Q]What is the best stock rom ? - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to ask you, what is the best stock rom that you have used so far, from wich country or region.
I currently use South East Europe - COC2 and my operator is Orange Romania.
i want to change my current firmware because i have battery drain when using the phone and i don't know what to choose.
Can you please answer with the name of the rom that you are using and the current operator
Thank you

On i9195 LTE I'm running COC2 but scStock debloated ROM with SilviuMik custom kernel latest v4. And I find this to be great on battery here in the UK using the COC2 modem. I use Xposed also with PowerNap/Amplify/Greenify. My over night standby usually averages at 5% over 8 hours and SOT usually around 4 and half hours.

What is the difference between basebands?

I noticed when I installed the new ROM on my Arc that there are a few basebands mentioned (56. 60. 70. etc). What is the difference between them? Which one is best for me? Are they location specific or is the higher number always newer/better?

Baseband is the software for the CDMA cgipset in your phone (GSM and wirelles). Baseband version represents the software version and offcourse like any software is best to have the latest software . Now, the latest baseband for arc / arc s is BB72... but from my personal experience for better battery life BB70 is the best.
Now, be carefull before flashing any baseband, Kernel and Rom is dependent on this baseband, and certain combinations (basebands and roms) might not work .
Here is my configuration, which i find the best posible :
Baseband : 70
Kernel : Arc night 3.3 Stock or Sirkay if you want OC
Rom : JJ`s Hybrid Rom 3.2 stable
not the latest is the best, it's location specific! See Flashing a baseband and why you should do it. Optimum baseband means harmony between battery life and signal reception. Try to look in the thread for your location, if it is not there, try experimenting with various basebands (make few phone calls before switching to another). For custom ROMs its best to ask its developer.

[Q] N7100 in US best working method of getting stock ROM updates

Awaiting the delivery of my INTL N7100 and was wondering what others in the US are doing in regards to updates to the stock ROM. I have seen at least 1 thread where they set update region to the US and eventually started getting OTA updates but I am still unclear if this really works to get the latest from Samsung. If you are a user of the N7100 in the US what are you doing?
Also if it am sent an Asian or EU variant of the N7100 can any of these be flashed with the UK Rom?
P.S., Rooting is not an option for now. I want to stay bone stock with the ROM.
Thanks in advance!
You can flash any international note 2 with any international note 2's software from among the 126 supported.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app

Download Samsung Kies (full version, not just wifi). Install it and then connect your Note 2 via USB. When it fully connects it will show any stock ROM updates available. I have an international Note 2 in the U.S. and this works fine for me and I've received a few ROM updates in the last couple months.
Cheers

Out of curiosity which countries stock rom do you prefer, and does it have US English localization or UK English. For instance favor vs. favour.
Thanks again for all the replies.

I think mine came set up for UK English, but you can set it for any language. And you don't have a preference for ROM updates -- they're all the same.

[Q] T-mobile s4 m919's is not getting signal with omega roms?

Hi All ,
I live in Turkey and I have a problem , about carrier.
If i use stok rom in my galaxy s4 (M919) i don't get any signal of service providers (Including AVEA-TURKCELL etc.)
Then i have tried to flash nearly all verison of your Omega rom it didn't worked except one , Omega rom v.3.1. When i have flashed this rom , everythink is working, i am getting signal very well. This is just working. But i want to use newest rom. Why i can't use omega rom v12?
Why is that , what is the difference between two roms ( Of course just about getting signal )?
Extra info ;
Other all AOSP roms , for example when i flash a rom like your AOSP Omega I9505 v2.0 Android 4.3 rom , there is no problem. My phone getting signal very well.
Baseband : M919UVUAMDL
I would be grateful if you help.
Best Regards.

Make sure you install the correct kernel, Omega is for i9500 devices so you will have to install an m919 kernel.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda premium
Omega has versions for both the i9500 and i9505. M919 should ONLY flash i9505 roms, NOT the i9500 roms. Omega has a 4.2.2 touchwiz version and a google edition 4.3 rom for i9505. I dunno about the i9500 Omega roms because I don't need to know about them since I cannot flash any i9500 roms on my M919. You can flash whichever one you prefer of the two i9505 Omega roms.

Some questions before i take the plunge to 4.4.2

Still on 4.1.2, N7100. So i've downloaded the May 2014 4.4.2 France firmware, will that be okay? After that, will i be able to root? Even with Knox... And how is the battery life on 4.4.2? Is it good? And lastly, how is the performance? Will I experience lag and stutters?

Yes you can flash any country's stock ROM and France firmware is what most developers used to make custom roms and we are using it without issues. Some users have had to switch modems to get better reception and data speeds but that's not a big deal.Yes you can root stock ROM with Knox, follow this guide on how to root it.Battery life is subjective. Some users are getting excellent battery life, some are getting less than what they got on 4.1.2.Performance wise stock rom has no lag no stuttering. When it comes to custom roms you got lots of options so performance will vary depending on what features does a custom ROM contain like S5 and N3 features.
Alright i just updated, i like the layout, but the something in the wake lock is bothering me, it is being kept awake by google services, any idea which service? Its on since i unplugged it.

Stock rom P8000

Hi everyone,
Which Stock rom is the most stable for P8000 according to you ?
Best regards
Don't use stock rom! Use Eragon
I am waiting for flash eragon because my stock rom is realy stable and y have no problem with.
I could only use July 25th stock rom, other ones stopped SIM card from working - tried latest eragon (5.5 & 5.6) and this is much faster than stock ever was, less bloatware, no simcard bug or other bugs that I'm aware of. Worth doing
Which eragorn version you are using now?
good afternoon
how to flash the phone that it supports 2G GSM: (1900)
and a 3G WCDMA (UMTS) 1900MHz
and 4G FDD-LTE B1 (2100MHz)
Thank you in advance!
Hi Stich_,
flashing will not solve the issue as it is hardware related. Elephone is currently preparing a B-version of the P8000 which supports 1900MHz (2G) and 1900MHz (3G). LTE-B1 (2100 MHz) seem still not to be supported by this phone. You can take a look at the specs here: http://www.elephone.cc/elephone-p8000-b-version.html

How is the battery life? I thought it was terrible, although I never tried it with visionary kernel.
The battery is 4000mah(measured with charge tool) and I can consistently get a days(12 hours) use from it with 4-6 hours of screen on time so that's probably one of the phones strong points!
36 hours battery for me (no games or videos) but good usage. Running eragon rom.
For me stock ROM is unstable, the battery drained very fast. Current on Eragon 6.7 and it can last me whole day with data on.
For me Eragon 6.7 50% end of day 1. Latest stock was almost empty at same stage.
