[Q] N7100 in US best working method of getting stock ROM updates - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Awaiting the delivery of my INTL N7100 and was wondering what others in the US are doing in regards to updates to the stock ROM. I have seen at least 1 thread where they set update region to the US and eventually started getting OTA updates but I am still unclear if this really works to get the latest from Samsung. If you are a user of the N7100 in the US what are you doing?
Also if it am sent an Asian or EU variant of the N7100 can any of these be flashed with the UK Rom?
P.S., Rooting is not an option for now. I want to stay bone stock with the ROM.
Thanks in advance!

You can flash any international note 2 with any international note 2's software from among the 126 supported.

Download Samsung Kies (full version, not just wifi). Install it and then connect your Note 2 via USB. When it fully connects it will show any stock ROM updates available. I have an international Note 2 in the U.S. and this works fine for me and I've received a few ROM updates in the last couple months.
Cheers

Out of curiosity which countries stock rom do you prefer, and does it have US English localization or UK English. For instance favor vs. favour.
Thanks again for all the replies.

I think mine came set up for UK English, but you can set it for any language. And you don't have a preference for ROM updates -- they're all the same.

[Q] GT-N7105 ROM on i317M ?

I recently bought a Note 2 ( i317M, Rogers, unlocked ) as a gift for my Dad. My dad speaks Chinese natively but the phone comes with only English, French and Korean. I wanted to flash CM10 / AOKP on it but I was not sure if they come with Chinese.
So I brought the phone to a local phone store and had them flash a ROM with Chinese on it. Everything seems to be working properly after but the Model Number became GT-N7105 with Baseband version I317MVLALJ2. So I'm guessing the guy at the store flashed a N7105 ROM on it? Is there any problem keeping it this way? If I flash a proper ROM back, would it change the model number back to i317M?
Thank you in advance!

From what I understand, if the phone is working properly, then you have a ROM that is designed for the i317M, but is "tagged'' as a N7105 ROM.
I have a Bell Note 2, and I'm using the new AT&T CM 10.1 ROM. It shows Model Number GT-N7105, but I know for sure the ROM was branched from that model at some point and adapted for the i317M.

Thank you for the prompt reply FligMupple! I was worried that having a ROM for a different model might 'break' the phone somehow, but if the model number is just a tag as you said I really shouldn't be worrying to much I guess.
Could you advice if the ATT CM10 ROM has Chinese? I want to have a stable ROM on it before giving it to my Dad.
Actually now when I connect the phone to my PC, it shows GT-N705 has connected....
Is it OK to flash kernels for the N7105 on i317m?

Kernel and ROM, yes. Modems, no.
Edit build.prop if you want it to show "SGH-I317M" (or "Potato 2" for that matter) again.

is n7105 not as popular?

i have the n7105, i dont want to root and use custom roms as i had massive problems with gps and sat nav on my previous phone when changed roms, so sticking with official rom as sat nav is perfect.
saying that, i dont see many roms for the n7105 so there is nothing to entice me to change, unless they are all in the n710 rom thread?
also - im on ee (was t-mobile) in UK, but the phone has not had an update since i got it last year.. its still on 4.1.1 does samsung not update? i dont want t-mob getting there hands on it first and loading it full of junk.
Well as for updates lte phone get it lasts due to carriers.

IF the note is unbranded/unlocked You cna install the latest update from samsung via Odin. I'm running it now on my 7105, unrooted and stock, from tmob UK. There is one on samfirmware for EE.
Have you checked connecting the note to kies (via windows PC) to see IF there is an update available for your device?
IF you're sim locked you can remove it quite easily. Just follow this thread
You need any help gimme a yell
thanks, maybe i will look into it, rooting shouldn't affect the navigation/gps software..
N7105 has 4.1.2 now

How can I use international roms on t-mobile note 3?

I'm using my T-mobile Jump tomorrow to get a Note 3. Of course, the first thing I'm going to do is: open the box, plug the phone in, then root it. I don't know much about this phone since I have been using an HTC One running Cyanogen Mod. So, My question is, what's the best way to unlock the Note 3's full potential? I.e: I see many root solutions, which do you prefer and why? By rooting and installing custom recovery (TWRP, CWM, ect), am I able to use ROMS on the International Samsung Galaxy Note 3 forums, or am I limited to T-Mobile only offerings? I wouldn't consider myself a NOOB, or a Dev, just an enthusiast who wants to help other enthusiasts, please leave your advice and experiences below.

First thing you need to do is to learn about KNOX, there are dozens of threads related to KNOX so
it's easy to find.
If your new phone is a NOTE 3 and you don't read up on the KNOX issue but simply go and root the
phone your warranty might be void afterwards.
You need to read up on the official 4.3 rom & the MK2 baseband which all new NOTE 3 phones have
before you root or flash any cwm/twrp flashable zip files including roms and kernels.
Once you decide what to do about the KNOX and still want to root your phone and flash custom roms
I would highly suggest to only flash roms in the Tmobile Note 3 forum, & only flash those roms which
are based on Tmobile 4.3 Jellybean Touchwiz firmwares.
Flashing any other roms will result in loosing the ability to use free tmobile wifi calling as well as loosing
most all of the bells and whistle which makes the NOTE 3 such a great phone.
In my experience with custom roms, the Wicked & Darthstalker roms are the only 2 that I would even consider flashing.
Do a lot of reading before you decide or do anything.
Good luck!
Vision X will work just fine, give it a look see also....

Yes, I flashed the Bobcat 3.0 rom too, and it looks like a Million Dollars, best LOOKING rom I have
ever seen... BUT unless the dev who created it can get himself a N900T Tmobile Note 3 phone to
test with, we will never have wifi calling if we flash the Bobcat International Note 3 rom.
I flashed it a few hours ago and am still debating with myself if I want to keep it or not. LOL
Hello!
I have a SM-N900T Baseband N900TUVUBMI7. But unfortunately, there is no Russian System language (not possible to enable it through the setting.)
I live in Russia, in this regard, I have a couple of questions:
1. Does the Russian language in international ROM?
2. What ROM you can recommend with support Russian system language and the maximum cut off apps from T-mobile and ather (consist only samsung apps)?
This "abundance" is useless for me.
I would be very grateful for the link to the thread of this ROM.
P.S.Sorry for the poor english.
Can i Flash 4.4.2 Leaked for SM-N9005 on SM-N900T?.
Hi, can i flash roms for sm-n9005 on my t-mobile note 3?? specially the leaked 4.4.2 kit kat? Thank you.

Here is the direct download link for Bobcatrom v3 EVO rom:

After flashing this rom on a N900T Galaxy Note 3 phone you will not have
Wifi, Bluetooth or NFC until you flash this wifi-bluetooth-nfc-FIX.zip file.
So you need to flash the rom first, set it all up so it's working properly then
go back into cwm/twrp custom recovery and flash the fix file below:
http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/...en900T/Needed_Files_BT_WIFI_NFC_Flashable.zip
After you flash the fix file, wifi, bluetooth and nfc will all work fine.
Good luck!

Sure you can, you can flash the 4.4.2 kitkat but don't expect everything to work properly,
especially wifi, data and many other things in it still need fixing.
That's why it's called a "leak"..
Good luck!
Does N900T have Russian language as a system language? I intend to root the phone and install Language Enabler from the market. The app reveals hidden languages but before I proceed I'd like to make sure that the phone does have Russian (hidden in it).
Thank you.
Hi, I have similar problem as escudovod1972. Live in the UK and have the T-mobile version (SM-N900T) of the note 3. Would like to have Russian and Lithuanian languages but keep the phone as close to stock as possible.
Was wondering if I could achieve this, by flashing one of these:
"International SM-N9005 Galaxy Note 3 Stock Firmware"
Will I need to flash a T-Mobile kernel separately?
Also if this works, will I loose any functionality?
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks

You can flash a unified rom aka hlte (more info: http://www.cyanogenmod.org/blog/unified-builds) like cyanogen, carbon rom(using this on my N3 Tmobile in UK just now), AOKP and many more(safe to say that all have Russian), if you like the AOSP/AOKP look. Or go for X-note or other touch wiz based unified roms.
Anyways, take a look here for more info and rom lists: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3#romList
Hope this helps

N9005XXUENE3 = 4.4.2 = Build date: Wed, 28 May 2014 08:59:36 +0000 = Russia (MegaFon)
I have this rom at my site, I make all kinds of roms... made this just a while ago... just flash the rom, http://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=devices&uid=9390248398092763634
I try all the roms, before posting them, make a backup then flash the rom,,, N9005XXUENE3_hlte_Stock_Odex_Not_Rooted_NoKnox.zip
I would not advise flashing the firmware... your rooted, its safer just flashing the rom...
I just made a UK rom earlier today, using this one, I was using Singapore for the past 3 or 4 days... I like using the newest rom...

Help with Updating Android on Unlocked AT&T S3 I747 for MetroPCS/TMobile

Hey guys so I decide to get the SGH-147 AT&T S3 off of ebay for MetroPCS which enabled me to get a 2 year squaretrade warranty. After looking back at it now, I feel it might have been a bad idea since Metro has a MIR 349.99 deal for their S3 version which would mean easier android update since it would be on Metro servers if I'm not mistaken. Anyway I can't return the ebay phone now unless there is some software or hardware problems within 30 days
So my problem
I am stuck on 4.1.1 on Kies and when I check for update, because the phone is based on AT&T servers, it won't work since I'm on Metro. I wanted to see if there is anyway for me to update my phone to 4.3 which is the current version. Although, I've heard some people have 4.3 problems?
If that's not advisable, could y'all tell me how I could atleast get to Android 4.1.2? Also is there a 4.4 update in the works?
I just got the phone today and would like to be running on something better than 4.1.1
should I flash the AT&T phone to a MetroPCS ROM lol, if any of those are actually available, or if I were to flash, should I flash it to Tmobile?

There are numerous options. The best depends on your choice. I recently rooted my AT&T phone and installed Cyanogenmod 10.2, based on android 4.3. Check it out. It is super cool.

Lets say I do it and I find out my singal or some issues I can't stand arise, can I reflash down to 4.1.1?
Btw any links to a stock 4.1.2 ROM? And do the battery on these phones run longer with newer Android flavors. The S3 battery I have is atrocious
AT&T 4.1.2 and 4.3 update is officially only available via OTA. But this requires being on the AT&T network. The are zip files available on XDA to get these updates but I strongly suggest you read up on things first.

Again, I am really not trying to be argumentative, and reaaly want you to have the support you are looking for. All I am saying, though, is that T-Mobile still has not released their official version 4.4 KitKat for this particular Samsung T-Mobile Note 2. I see that Wind Mobile released their version in May of this year. I am just stating that there is nos such thing as stock 4.4 KitKat running with a Touchwiz interface on a T-Mobile Note 2.
We have all been anxiously waiting for that release for at least a couple of months now. Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, and even US Cellular have all announced thier release of 4.4 KitKat on their versions of the Note 2. Your Wind Mobile provider has also released their KitKat as you point out in your link. Unfortunately T-Mobile has not yet released that software.
I have reviewed the link you provided and it seems that you are correct and Wind Mobile has your official release of KitKat for the Note 2. However, I am not sure how we can help in the T-Mobile forum, since we don't have that official firmware yet. Thousands of folks here sure wish we did! Sorry, bud.
