Has anyone figured out how to prevent the camera settings from going back to their default settings? This happens at least once a day or even more if I use the gps. I think it has something to do with the camera being attached to the location services with geo tagging. It happens if I leave it on or off. Just gets really annoying having to always change it back to save my pics to internal storage and the front facing camera to 8mp.

Found it. I never even use those shortcut keys anyways. Hopefully the settings stay put. Thanks for the tip!

I just discovered something new. I was trying to save some battery using Snapdragon Batteryguru and the camera settings began resetting, again. So, if you are using a similar app, try disabling it.
I just got the phone (H812, Rogers, Canada) and I'm also having that issue, I'll disable the shortcut keys =( that's not nice though, I liked the quick launch. Hope they fix as I don't like having settings reset.

There's this strange problem my phone has where the flashlight is turned on whenever i hit the power button to turn off my screen It has been working fine on android revolution rom for the past 3 months then this problem started occurring just this morning. Going to the official htc flashlight app to adjust the brightness works but it cannot turn off the flashlight unless i initiate a shutdown. anyone has any idea how i can solve this problem ? is this a hardware or software issue ?

If it worked before you tried a new ROM it's bound to be s/w. Is Tasker baked in to the ROM or did you install it? Some third party app is triggering Flashlight to launch when you press the power button. You might want to check the dev who built the ROM's thread or ping him or her.
In aokp there's a turn flash light on by hitting power option in the settings have a look at your roms settings.

If it were me, I'd want to figure the problem out as what's causing it may not be limited to Flashlight (EG: other things are being turned off or on and you just don't know it). I you want to disable it, go in to Apps>All>flashlight and clear data, force stop, and then hit disable.
Do you have EQS? If so, try to turn flashlight on then off again from the EQS tab itself.

Hi guys, first thread here so hope I choose the right section. I tried to search previous topic but i found nothing.
However, i've got a new nexus rooted and running JB stock. The sounds of my phone randomly disappear. There are no ringtones, no sounds games, the audio player is mute (tried winamp and google music). The only things that work are alarm clock and the voice of people calling me. I've noticed that if i press volume bottons the volume is set to 0 and there no way to increase it. I've tried changing mode from normal to silent to vibration only to lane mode, but nothing happens.
The sounds as randomly disappear, so they come back, with no clear motivation.
I don't know what to do, if i reboot i solve the problem but only for a moment.
Does someone of you have the same problem?
Thanks a lot and sorry for the english
Are you using Cerberus app? And if yes, do you have enabled the photo capture option on false security code?
I had the same problem, after uninstalling cerberus, the problem is gone. But the Cerberus team is already informed and also some test releases are available fixing this issue. I'm waiting for the official release.
Disabling the photo function also solves the problem.

it's either the cerberus app (most probably that's why you rooted) or a hardware defect in the volume rocker

Yes i'm using cerberus and yes i've enabled the photo capture option on false security code. So it could be the problem but i've installed cerberus only 2 days ago and i've had the problem with the missing ringtones also last week. But I've not noticed the other problems. I'll try to disable that option

What do you mean with "volume rocker"? The volume buttons on the side of the device? because i'm pretty sure they works properly.

I confirm it's the Cerberus' fault. Happened to me two times, both times when fiddling with lockscreen codes and taking pictures.
Hello everyone,
I just bought my S3 last Sunday. Since then I have noticed several issues with it and I'm wondering if it's worth exchanging. They seem to be both software and hardware issues.
1. It's pretty laggy. For such a "groundbreaking" phone this is lagging much more than my old Sensation. It's rarely smooth switching between screens and going from lock screen to home screen is also laggy. Overall, it's not very smooth. Is this common on this device? Maybe I'm expecting too much.
2. The music player skips and repeats A LOT. Whenever a song is playing, it will constantly have gaps in the music. It will just stop playing for a brief second but then continue normally. It also will repeat parts of a song, such as saying some lyrics twice.
3. Whenever someone calls me, my voice sounds "distant" to them. If I call someone my voice sounds totally normal but when I receive the call I am either echoing or I sound like I'm holding my phone away from my face.
I guess my biggest problem is the lag. It really bothers me since it's supposed to be such an amazing and smooth phone. It takes several times longer to load apps and things than my old Sensation did, and I don't have many apps installed at all. Opening the app drawer is consistently laggy as well.
Are these common issues or do you guys think it would be worthwhile to exchange the phone? As of right now, I'm not very pleased with it.
Thanks for all your input, guys!
Edit: Also, whenever I hit the home button it takes several seconds to load it up. Is there a way to speed this up?
Also, I am not rooted yet. I always like to spend a few weeks with the stock setup before rooting.
Edit 2: Last thing, S Voice is a piece of **** on this. Literally. It takes FOREVER to load up and RARELY does what I say. Does this actually work for you guys or is S voice generally useless?
Not common at all. Exchange.

Smooth as butter.
Have you tried installing the latest OTA? It may help with some of your problems. For the home key lag, double press to open s voice, then go into settings and turn off double press home to open.

1. Try this. Settings >Developer Options > Window animation scale ->change to 0.5x or off. Transition animation scale >animation is off
Also make sure Do not keep activities under developer options is unchecked. Check it first then uncheck it. This should solve the redraw issue on teh homescreen (at least it did for me)
2. Did not happen to me
3. Turn off noise reduction
For the distant sound issue open the dialer>call settings>additional settings>uncheck noise reduction. Even running unrooted the interface should be very smooth however.

that is yet another odd thing about my device. it claims I have the latest OTA, when I know I don't. Also, it says the music hub is still unavailable (even though I know several people who have it running)
I haven't actually used s-voice myself, but a lot of reviews said it wasn't very good.
Another thing you can try for the lag you mentioned is in Developer Options, change the Force GPU Rendering option.
Also try limiting background processes to 3 or 4. Though you shouldn't have to resort to this. If other options don't work id still take it back for exchange.

I just tried all the things you listed in number 1 and it is definitely faster, in a way. When I click the home button, the wallpaper pops up immediately. The apps however take significantly longer to load up and the app drawer still takes quite a while to load. I think I am stuck with a return. Thank you for all your help!

To speed up the home screen button:
Double tap home screen (bring up s-voice)
Tap menu softkey
Tap settings
Uncheck launch s-voice
You will need to do this with your new device as well.
And s-voice is generally useless, or as far as I've found.

Yea s-voice makes home button laggy. And have u tried to factory reset it?
Do a master reset without restoring back up. Sometimes this all that is necessary on any Rom. If that fails do a buyers remorse exchange.

Starting a thread, since it seems it's officially out.
Let's share our impressions of the update, and any questions or issues that you've encountered.
First Impression:
Looks and feels almost exactly the same as before so far. App drawer is exactly the same. Colors, the same, etc.
However, moving the up or down button doesn't give you the option to change the do not disturb (you could make it priority or no disturbances). You can still mute/go to vibrate by clicking on the 'bell' icon, and if you click the down arrow, you can change volumes on music and alarms.
Edit: you can swipe down twice/swipe down with two fingers from notifications bar, and the Do Not Disturb option is in the lowest right corner of the toggles. Tapping it will allow you to do Do Not Disturb settings. Note: once you click it, it automatically enables do not disturb.
I miss the old way. Anyone know how to change it back and/or a quick way to get to that?
Also, Now On Tap is not enabled by default. You have to go to Settings/Google/Search&Now/Now on Tap
Accessing Google Now has changed. Instead of swiping up from bottom of screen, you have to hold the 'home' icon (the circle in the middle of the triangle and square).
If you have turned on 'Google On Tap', contextual cards will pop up as determined by On Tap. If you click the 'G' below, you'll get to Google Now. If you're tired of On Tap you can click the three circles near the G to turn it off.
I really thought Verizon was waiting for the Marshmallow update to add wifi calling capability to the Turbo 2, but it's still nowhere in sight. Why do the iPhone and Samsung get the wifi calling feature and not the Droid-branded Verizon flagship?
Glad to have System UI tuner back, and Doze will be welcome at work tomorrow.

My son and I are using Turbo 2s on T-Mobile and got the update OTA today. That was nice but now both our LTE is limited to 1 mbps. Running SpeedTest it starts at 5 to 8 and then drop to 1 and flat lines there.
My wife is getting mid 30s with her N6 which is what I got at home before the update.
Be interesting if anyone else running a Turbo 2 not on Verizon has the same issue.
Well, found a fix... Kinda. I was scratching my head over this and searched T-Mobile throttling. Turns out with our Turbo 2s on Marshmallow T-Mobile's Binge On service is applied to ALL my data. Once I turned it off our speeds came back.
In case anyone else is using their Turbo 2 on T-Mobile here are the dial codes to check and switch Binge on and off.
Check: #264#
Off: #263#
On: #266#

It is a set of hidden tweaks, like Quick Menu options and Status Bar Icons. You unlock it by pulling down the quick menu and holding the gear for several seconds. Here is a basic overview: http://www.androidcentral.com/inside-marshmallow-system-ui-tuner
I do not like the new dialer. And they never fixed the phone/audio jack problem... I have to hit speaker phone when using the jack making a call.
I am not able to unlock the system UI tuner?

Google Hangouts

There are 4 ways to access the toggles in in your notifications pull down:
1. swipe down twice from notification bar
2. swipe down with two fingers from notification bar
3. swipe down once from notification bar, and tap the grey notification area
4. triple tap on notification bar
I just found out about the fourth way and it's the easiest way for me to access it.

Maybe you can reflash the official firmware if it is available yet. I have not heard of this issue.
To start, I've mentioned this in the ROM thread and no one ever got back to me. Twice. Not sure if it's a ROM issue or a permission I accidentally blocked when sweeping through system and app permissions.
ROM: freedom os (obv rooted)
Problem: notifications only show up on a few applications. In particular, LINE and text messages. No other apps on my entire device gives notifications at all. What I've found is that when I'm USING the apps, they'll show the notifications. Also sometimes after rebooting my device, all my notifications that have been "collecting" since last reboot will all go off (which leads to it making notification sounds and vibrating for a good five minutes).
I've tried googling this like crazy and can't seem to find the resolution. Again, I feel it's probably something I accidentally blocked when I shouldn't have, so any guidance would be appreciated!
Did you try going to settings->battery->battery optimization and setting the particular app to "don't optimize"?
Or in the same settings menu, you can completely turn off the battery optimization from the 3dot menu.

Sorry for the late response - I thought this emailed when a response came in lol. Anyway, yup I had made sure that wasn't set. As for completely turning it off, the 3 dots has "advanced optimization" which only has one switch, "Advanced optimization - restricted background activity of apps more aggressively..." which is turned off right now.
Still having this issue ( Afraid I'm gonna just have to wipe w/ another rom, but I like this rom minus this one issue so far
