There's this strange problem my phone has where the flashlight is turned on whenever i hit the power button to turn off my screen It has been working fine on android revolution rom for the past 3 months then this problem started occurring just this morning. Going to the official htc flashlight app to adjust the brightness works but it cannot turn off the flashlight unless i initiate a shutdown. anyone has any idea how i can solve this problem ? is this a hardware or software issue ?

If it worked before you tried a new ROM it's bound to be s/w. Is Tasker baked in to the ROM or did you install it? Some third party app is triggering Flashlight to launch when you press the power button. You might want to check the dev who built the ROM's thread or ping him or her.
In aokp there's a turn flash light on by hitting power option in the settings have a look at your roms settings.

this rom isn't exactly new its a 3 month old build and has nv given me any sort of problems before till this strange problem started occurring. Is there any way to disable the flashlight for good so it doesn't keep turning on and draining my battery ?

If it were me, I'd want to figure the problem out as what's causing it may not be limited to Flashlight (EG: other things are being turned off or on and you just don't know it). I you want to disable it, go in to Apps>All>flashlight and clear data, force stop, and then hit disable.
Do you have EQS? If so, try to turn flashlight on then off again from the EQS tab itself.

Hi,
I have noticed that sometimes the auto screen rotation doesn't work anymore. I have tried to disable and enable again the screen rotation icon but it doesnt help. The only way to restore the screen rotation is to reboot my Note2.
It happens every time after having used a few days my device.
Any idea what could be the reason for this bug?
I am using a stock Rom with root.
Smart rotation is off.

Yes and every trick stopped working.
I have installed the app "Ultimate Rotation control" . With this app, I can force applications to rotate but it doesn't
work when the rotation is set to "auto" ( of course until I reboot)

I think but I am not sure that the bug appeared after I have flashed a Perseus Kernel (I see that you have also
a Perseus kernel)
Maybey i found the problem
I maybey found the problem for the screen rotation glich!
I've done my reboots and taking the battery out etc...but after a while the problem kept returning!
Now....i've been wondering around on some forums and i found and read that they have the same issues after the 4.1.2 update!
So.....i tried all the apps on my phone.....exept one!...YOUTUBE!
I have uninstalled youtube and also turned it OFF in the aplication manager!
rebooted my phone!...and gues what?.....my note 2 is running like sunshine and no screen rotation problems! (knock on wood)
Sometimes when you put like a..news app on...some news apps also use Youtube for a movie to show you whats happening wright?
So if you didnt used youtube but did lool at your news app..youtube gets activated without you knowing it!
And then...also yhe screen rotation glitch returned!
Since i put toutube off.....problem GONNE!
But then again.im not a specialist!...im using:
baseband: N7100XXDLK7
Version 4,1,2
Kernel: 3.0.31-679347
I have a unbranded phone!
But ive read on forums that this is a problem for ALL THE NOTE 2's after the update!
Greets and help yourselff
Mike.
Tick auto display brightness and it will rotate!
I too got the same problem some times back. And along with that the network was also not getting detected. Some of my friend told that the network IS is gone. But I went to the service station and the software up gradation makes it alright.

Did we ever figure out a real fix for this? Was the true cause of the problem ever even isolated? I am aware of the "auto brightness trick", but have also heard about fumbling around with the multi window feature or opening the dialer to "unlock" it.

I got the same issue and yes, it seems like it occurred after I too flashed the Perseus Kernel. Damn.
When I press the power button on my phone and put it down (whether it be a few inches or a few feet away) it will turn itself on for no reason. I have installed various air-push detectors, I have tried cleaning the USB port (note this phone isn't even a month old in my hands) but nothing is working. If you know what's going on and or how to fix it let me know. I'll post updates if I get it fixed.
I've had that happen many times and even after running a logcat I've never figured out what caused it. Sometimes an app requesting su has been the culprit but most of the time I have no idea.
So you never fixed it? I'll try auto granting and using logcat

I recently had this happening because i enabled the alarm in tunein app. Have not had one screen on issue since i disabled it again.
Reminds me i have to enable it again if i dont want to oversleep tomorrow
Hope that helps somehow

i disabled the alarm and as soon as i was going to say it might have worked, i turn my phone off and literally a second later it turned back on
well in that case you probably have to disable one app at a time and test for a day or so to figure out which one causes the wake up:banghead:
my screen on returned with the enabled tunein alarm option. i wrote them a support ticket and hope they will adress that issue as fast as possible.

Yep, it's an app causing the issue. AudioGuru used to do it to me (whenever it changed profile the screen would light up). Since the latest version it no longer does it

it is caused by an application. usually caused by live wallpapers. install dr.web antivirus scan, remove suspicious app. :good:

Hello,
A couple of weeks ago I flashed the CM10 rom from djolivier.
With this rom I dont get any notifications from my email, whatsapp, etc. when my screen is locked.
When I unlock the screen I get all the notifications and sounds.
I would like to get those notifications also when my screen is locked.
Can someone tell me how to fix this?

Most likely wifi policy is causing problems, you can find it in wifi settings. By default, it is set to turn off wifi when screen turns off - phone just doesn't check emails/whatsapp untill you wake it up ( what activates wifi again ).

finally found it.
Hey hey,
For some reason my Note II (rooted but running stock 4.1.2) vibrates intermittently - about every 5-15 seconds, though with slight variation - while it's charging. It only happens while the screen is off and buzzes twice in a row every time. I have tried (with no success):
-disabling tasker (just in case it was causing weird behaviour)
-putting the phone into silent mode (with vibration off)
-turning the vibration setting under audio (in the settings menu) totally off
-turning the haptic feedback setting under audio (in the settings menu) totally off
Has anyone else ever had this problem? Any ideas as to what might be causing it? I've only had the phone for about a month, but I don't think it started doing it until about two weeks ago.
Thanks so much for your help.
Honestly sounds like a hardware issue ..
I've never heard of a device randomly vibrating unless tied into the stuck power button issue ...or a defective rom flash ..but since your rom is stock ...I'd suggest a wipe in recovery of the data and cache ...
If the device still vibrates intermittently....then it may need a repair or replacement...g

Thanks, will give it a go. I hadn't thought to mention it but I've got custom recovery (TWRP) and a custom kernel (SaberKernel), so maybe something went wrong with one of those flashes?

Perhaps. .
But with the device running normally otherwise. ..I'd check data issues first from within the rom...g

Issue solved. Just in case anyone else ever has this problem, the issue stemmed from an xposed module. Apparently TW 4.1.2 and/or the Note ii doesn't like having the default "wake on plug" settings overridden via xposed (I was using the Xposed Additions module to do so).
Thanks for your help @gregsarg!
Always welcome ..

Wow, thanks! that's good to know, as I'm also using Xposed Additions to remap my keys (but I'm not using Wake On Plug).
I've been having this issue lately on my Note II International Version powered by ARHD v19 ROM with TWRP and RedPill Kernel. I did have xPosed Additions, but "wake on plug" was set to "never". I tried @mbdw's solution, changed it to "system default", and it seems to have solved the issue. Will get back if I find the issue coming back again. Thanks a lot mate!

I am not a fan of vibration either. In most cases you can toggle it and reduce the intensity.
Myself, I always install Vibrafix. One shot deal, kills all haptic feedback.
Anyone else experiencing a really long delay when you try to wake your phone up? About 70% of the time when I wake my phone up to just use my phone, it has a bad delay. Most of the time it will take around 7 - 10 seconds for the screen to turn on.
I am stock and un-rooted. I have gone into the stock recovery and cleared the cache partition a couple of times, but that doesn't help. I am really hoping for S-off soon. I'm hoping that a custom rom can fix it.
I'm also experiencing this same problem, drives me insane. I'm hoping that maybe the forthcoming 5.1 update will address that issue.
I've never experienced this. I'm stock still. Kinda sounds like a runway app causing the problem.
Never saw this on launch os or 5.1. Have you tried running it without apps for a while?
Last night I disabled instagram. It seemed to fix the problem so far. I don't use it much anyway. My battery stat still shows it as number 2 on the list. I just uninstalled it. Maybe it will fix some issues.
I have this too...but I'd say only about 30 percent of the time. I use the double tap to wake aout it certainly does not all the time.
Mine does it sometimes. I don't know if it's a delay because I push the power button again and it comes on. Another thing that drives me up the wall is that the screen doesn't wake up after taking the phone away from my ear during a call sometimes. I'll have to push the power button to turn the screen on.

This sounds like either a case problem, or proximity sensor.

Mine doesn't wake up after a call sometimes. It just started doing the delay thing again. I wonder if it has anything to do with memory leak on 5.0? I may disable a couple games I downloaded this week and see if that fixes it.
