So on the G3 there was a mod where you put thermal paste so that the phone ran cooler
I opened my G4 up and there was some adhesive pad between the cpu & the screen. It didn't feel like a thermal pad.
Would you guys think that if were to peel that off and put thermal pad would make a difference?
Can you post a pic .. I like to see it

Yes. Post pic
If u can try it, let us know if it helped.

does the lg g pad 8.3 have the special super sensitive technology. I noticed it works with gloves and any metal objects. Also i dont even have to touch my screen and the tablet already recognises my touch. This is amazing, how come lg do not promote this

The lg g pad doesn't. It's the s4 that has the air view technology.

I can confirm this. Sometimes my fingers are 1mm away from the screen and the Gpad already senses that as a touch. Sometimes my earphones'cords can make the screen react too.

I can confirm that my touch screen on the g-pad is definitely the most sensitive of the devices I own (kindle fire, kindle fire hd, g-pad, gs3). It does seem that it is detecting a touch before I touch the screen sometimes although I can not say that I have done any sort of testing of this.
Yes this is true. I tried it with my gloves on and the screen still works (normal gloves) and sometimes my headphone cable and charger cable can interact with the screen too. Metal pens also seem to work....

Sorry to revive the topic but I also feel that my g pag screen is too sensitive and I ***HATE*** this. It captures too many unintended touches.
Is there a patch or kernel setting to adjust this? Please help.

If you are rooted, use root explorer and browse to /system/usr/idc/ and edit the touch_dev.idc file. Look for the line that says touch.pressure.scale and change from 0.004 to 0.01 then reboot

Thanks a lot man! Will try it when I get home.
Yeah it's intended to be that sensitive for our own convenience! Gloves, metal tip of pens, knives, keys!
I almost always use it with the blunt edge of the 'knife' of my pocket multitool to avoid having grease on my screen!
Are there any other options to reduce the sensitivity without rooting? When I hold the tablet in one hand it sometimes picks up touches at the side of the screen
Root is required to adjust the sensitivity.

Did it work?
It's a bit annoying this, even the wire from headsets do input to the screen.

I tried, and it does not work. I went up to 0.05. I can still swipe the screen with my finger without touching it.

Not even 0.1 works. This setting is probably not related at all to touchscreen sensitivity.

Tried with 1 as well which is default value - i can still swipe by hoovering my finger 1mm from the screen.

I confirm this 100%, too (V500). There must be a way for adjusting this...
LG G4 Heatsink mod
Hello
My lg g4 gets hot after taking like 50 photos in a row. I was using it pretty hard when i was on vacation as my "take-photo-device". After a lot of google searching, i found out that the G3 could have been modified internally to make the temps better and make sure the phone wasnt downclocking as much.
Is there a similar process that you can do on the G4?
Thanks for any help.
here....from Taiwan site....use google Translate if you don't understand it

It requires you to remove the original shield, insert a copper plate on the CPU, add some thermal paste and the heat dissipation is better. This way the heat goes out the back cover instead of towards the front as well.
How easy is it to remove that plate.
There is a thermal mod in the works that could come closer to this with less effort but it needs root. Will be interesting to see cpu-z temps grabs with that mod and compare with this one.

problems with thermal mods is that they dont fix the underlying issue (which is the CPU getting hot and downclocking like mad), they just either up the temperature range or downclock the cpu from the start not allowing it to work.
I looked at the taiwan link, however i havent managed to figure it out. Can you use some alluminium foil rather than a copper plate?

Easy as. Just flick it up with a knife or screwdriver. Its only held in there with teeny metal grips.

I did a write up in the sprint threads with pics how i tore mine down and used arctic silver therm paste.

After two months of use I suddenly discovered yellow spots on display, which can be seen in the light background.
Do you have any idea what can I do with it?

I have seen other posts about this issue. The suggestions were mainly that the LCD should be replaced.

so sad for me, i thought lg g3 was good phone for me, well i guess i'll sell it :crying: thanks for yr help mate
Yes, the LCD is most likely damaged, but all is not lost yet. The poor thermal design of the G3 leaves it susceptible to heat build-up if used heavily for an extended period of time.
My gfs G3 overheated so I put a 15x15mm thermal pad on the SoC of both her and my G3s. Saw an instant 10 degree Celcius drop during heavy use and a 15 degree drop when idle for both of our G3s. I strongly recommend you do the SoC thermal pad mod. However, I've read that some G3s were designed with a plastic frame instead of the metal alloy frame that most G3s have. If this is the case, then obviously the thermal pad mod will not work.
Hello,
My LG G3 D852 really heats up and I'm not sure what to do.
I was thinking about opening it and putting those soft silicone thermal pads to reduce heat.
You can see on Amazon what I mean, here is a link https://www.amazon.ca/20x20x2mm-Sil...F8&qid=1521568057&sr=8-3&keywords=Thermal+pad.
Can anyone tell me what they think about this solution?
Thank you,
What is this black pad? it doesn't touch the cpu which is notorious for overheating.
Its like a cushion and its feels like rubber.
I wanted to apply some thermal paste, but that black rubber pad is there.

Maybe a thermal pad?
My advice: search a little more about that (use of thermal paste), and only if you find solid proof that it works, than do it.
Compare the number on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QijWruGXqX8 (turn on subtitles) and see if there is a considerable or any difference.
Your phone...
Put thermal paste on mine last week and its been running mutch cooler and i dont burn my hand after using it.
idle 32c(from 38) and maxed out 70c(from 80+) after 20min game test, but dropped instantly when closing. Didnt bother thinking about that pad as the paste isnt conductive..
Make sure you put paste directly on the cpu's as well as there isnt any.(under the thin metal cover on motherboard, carefully lift it up with a knife or thin object)
then apply a few dots on the metal around the black pad.
I open mine to take a better look and to be honest it looks just like paint. No softer/harder material than the rest, didn't saw any corner or edge that I could use to take out...

How weird, mine is definitely rubbery with 2 holes that hold it down. I could lift the corners. But I didn't, I didn't know if there was anything back there to do with the Lcd. So I thought I would ask here first before I go messing with something that I'm unfamiliar with.
Look at the picture below, there's an indentation for the cpu, clearly its there to not touch the cpu. The cpu sits low, slightly beneath the metal shield and is covered by some type of fabric heat tape.
I'm guess the black pad is there to block the heat from reach the lcd?
I went all crazy and spread the heat out. With thermal pads & paste on both sides.

Maybe, or the RAM...
Take a look here ( https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/LG+G4+Teardown/42705 ) to know better about internal parts. Might be handy.
