I have installed a PPTP client on a (Ubuntu 14.04) VPS, and I can connect to it (although that also sometimes fails). However, seemingly on random moments, the entry disappears from the VPN menu on the Settings -> More -> VPN screen. I then need to re-add the network. Anyone else has this problem? Any solution? Maybe I can look for an app that does the same as a workaround for now? Any way to send a bug report to LG or Google?
I worked around it by installing OpenVPN and using their official app.

Hi all, i need some help...
my push email was working fine when i first enabled it.
now i have this problem where i was getting error codes in exchange that there was a problem with the firewall timeout settings...so i changed the registry settings according to the knowledge base article...
but i still dont get a real push experience...
all i am getting it a sync when a 'heartbeat' sent.
emails are not being sent to my device at the emial arrives at my server...
does anyone know what might be wrong.
i cant remember if i had this working with the beta rom and the new official rom or just the beta rom.
My dlink firewall does not seem to have the ability to change timeout setting for HTTPS connections.
Try to delete the Exchange Server Account in your Universal, Enable DirectPush and recreate it.
- Disconnect the universal from PC.
- Delete the Exchange Account: Activesync/Menu/Options/Delete.
I suggest you manually delete your Contacts before recreating the Exchange server setttings otherwise all your contacs will be duplicated.
After you recreate & synchronize your Exchange server Account, try to Disable and Enable DirectPush.
I also had one funny issue with my Netgear router... I had to manually open ports (443&80), because the connection was timing-out on DMZ port.
I just receieved my TP2 yesterday from mobilephonesdirect (with a T-Mobile contract).
I've run into a problem with trying to browse to secure sites or access my hosted exchange and pop email accounts (both over secure connections).
Activesync returns the error "ActiveSync cannot reach the server. Check that the server address and proxy server settings are correct.". Trying to browse to a https://... address in opera mobile causes it to crash, and in IE I get a dialog saying it cannot find the url and "Make sure the path or Internet address is correct."
I did discover this thread over at expansys about the same problem with the Touch Pro (http://www.expansys-usa.com/ft.aspx?k=113037) but following the steps doesn't work for me, unticking the "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet" option just reticks it the next time I view the settings.
I can't find any settings different between my new TP2 and Vario3 so I'm stuck. Has anyone else had issues?
It's fixed now
I did a soft reset and then the unticking the proxy server setting actually worked. Not quite sure why the TP2 requires this to be unticked yet my Vario 5 is working with it ticked.
Doesn't work
I can untick the proxy but this doesn't solve my activesync/exchange problem. I can access POP3 email etc fine and access my exchange account over wifi or via USB, so I assume it's a T-mobile issue. Anybody any help? I have tried searching and the only other h suggestion was to change proxy server to end in .135 instead of .132, but this doesn't work either.
Now does work
Had to delete the T-mobile settgins that wereautomatically configured, restart, then do the automatic configuration again, then uncheck proxy box before making any connections, then restart and voila!
Hello,
Since last week a noticed a strange bug on my defy
here is the scenario:
- E-Mails are received by Mobile data connection in PUSH without issue and very quickly (GMAIL in Moto apps)
- Activate the wifi, sync still ok
- disable the wifi (mobile data back), no more sync no message receivde even in manual refresh (error no data connection). Problem both in Moto E-Mail and GMAIL software
- tried android market and browser, no problem!
- Only way to sync again is to reboot
It's very annoying, did anyone encountered this issue ?
Any idea how to solve this ?
Defy de.at.ch stock rom, rooted and overclocked
I had this issue too - though I never tried to reproduce it - and with the newer 2.34.1 ROM it works OK.
did you find other workaround than the reboot ?
I don't know if I rebooted actually.
Today it happened again, and I couldn't sync on wither on Wifi or 3G for a short while - then it worked again.
I also haven't been able to ever setup the native Email client, it always says there is no connection when logging in to Gmail.
I'm not sure i understand your problem clearly, and i'm not sure (after 1 month) i understand how Motoblur email works, but there is an option under email delivery to sync email only over wifi. If you have this checked you won't be able to sync over 3g.
i have the same problem:
in the moment that i change from 3g to wifi or from wifi to 3g, the synchronization of the emails stops. the receive does not work anymore, sending email works...
any solution?
I'm trying to find solutions to a couple of problems, but so far haven't had a ton of luck. For reference, I'm running Ginger Villain 1.5 on the G2, and I don't know if it might be the cause of some of these problems.
For bluetooth: is there an official way to patch the OS to support HID? I found an app that makes it a keyboard input method, and it works quite well, but OS support is better.
For Wifi: I'm trying to connect to my university's wifi, but just as it starts to connect, it disconnects. The school has an auto configure program that it recommends you to download - Xpress Connect, but it said no networks in range or something. So, I looked at the settings on my laptop and tried to manually configure it. The network uses PEAP with MSCHAPV2 phase 2 authentication. Android mentions a CA certificate and a user certificate, which only have the options of none specified. Do I need a certificate to connect to this type of network? Android also seems to reset phase 2 to none after I hit save, because when I hit edit again, it is set to none.
For Exchange: I tried out the Touchdown Exchange Trial, but it never seemed to retrieve any data. I finally figured out the settings it needed to connect to my school email - Connection mode: ActiveSync ONLY, Server: m.outlook.com. At some point in settings it complains about a certificate missing or not accepted. It acts like it is syncing with my exchange account, but it never shows anything in my email or on my calendar, just a white page.
OK, I have gotten Exchange working to my satisfaction with Google's mail and calendar apps. The only thing that remains unsolved is how to get this tricky wifi to connect properly.
After the OTA update to EC05, I can no longer connect to my exchange 2003 server via Exchange Active Sync. Also had probs with WiFi hotspot not working and the voice search was eff'd up.
Sprint fixed the Hotspot prob and wanted me to prove exchange active sync is working (kinda hard when it won't work on my phone), so I used the techs phone, entered my info and within 2 sec, it had connected and was ready to configure the settings. This proved to them that it wasn't my server but their software.
When configuring, I de-select the SSL and it can't connect to the server, I select SSL and it says Unable to open connection to server due to security error.
Select both SSL and Accept all SSL certificates and get Cannot connect to server, yet as I stated previously, it worked on the tech's phone and he acknowledged that he had a custom build.
Any ideas?

Can you change what port the SSL connection is attempting to use?
Maybe check a phone that it works on and compare the port #s
here is a link where there are lots of others discussing the same issue with various fixes

this one in particular may be of some help
:
Got it!
Samsung Epic 4g, v2.2.1
Corporate Sync did -not- work for me (i.e. Accounts & Sync>Add Account>Corporate>Email address & Password) even using the “\” instructions above.
What did work for me was using the normal Email accounts setup (i.e. Choose “Email” application> Press -menu- and choose “Add Account”> Enter “Email address” & “Password”> Choose “Exchange Account”>Enter “Domain\Username” -used both domain\username no slash in front, “Password”, “Exchange Server.”
Not sure why there is an option for Corporate option for email (perhaps google apps?) if so many people having issues with it. Anyway, just choose the normal email setup.

good luck
I have seen this issue on motorola devices but personally never had this happen to me. I use my phone on a 2003 exchange server. In fact 70 percent of the people at my job have company android phones, either htc or samsung branded. Some motos but moto has problems. One thing i could recommend is download touchdown email app trial and it sometimes kick starts your active sync. I'm also not on stock rom if that makes any difference.
