Hello,
I have spent a whole day trying to get MTP to work. It was working last week. I did an update to the latest OTA 2.19.40.22. Rooted and froze a bunch of apps. I am thinking I need to defrost everything but that's a pain to do.
I have PC Link showing as a drive but I haven't installed it. ADB works and sees the device. The MTP driver is installed and there are no exclamation marks in devices. It just doesn't show in explorer like it did last week.
Any ideas? Anything simple and obvious before I unfreeze all the apps.
Windows 8.1 here BTW
Thanks,
Jeannette

I recently purchased the white SE Xperia X10a at an AT&T store. I've been looking everywhere on the internet on how to install 2.1 and SWYPE. I have installed SEUS and Pc Companion for upgrading to 2.1. It still says that my phone is up to date (its running 1.6). I've tried uninstalling SUES and PC Companion and re-installing it. Still didn't work. I want to at least get SWYPE. My phone doesn't have an option to "allow unknown sources" because it's locked down. I've tried the Sideload Wonder Machine and it won't recognize my phone even though I have drivers installed. Help please! I've tried everything!
have you found help?? I'm in the same boat man!! About to return!
i dont think it can be updated that yet at&t hasnt released it.
u have to de brand or load a custom rom of 2.1
as far as sideload wm i got it to work after playing with it for a while
i dont remember what i did as im pretty good at trying every possible option until something works. and once again i did that haha
two things i know i did for sure.
get the beta version of SWM place it in the root of your computer drive.
try every way to install drivers.
one way i found before was by downloading something for android from pdanet
and make sure you have installed android sdk
reboot computer.
hopefully you can play around with those options till it works
Install android sdk and make sure it works. Find jerpeleas flash tool and pick a shipped global rom. Flash, root, install swype. Ill post links here after class.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
okay i my mother in law got this x10a from att and its running 1.6 i got it rooted but i cant install xrecovery because it wont let me install apk if its not from the market place. so is there any way i can flash a 2.1 rom then i should be able to allow apk files right????
p.s. im not use to this my vibrant was much easier.
Hi
I guess I screwed up. I have the HD 8.9". I successfully rooted it. Then tried to install Google apps using KFFirstAide. It froze up half way through.
Now the kindle boots up as if the screen is cracked and it's running very slow (almost non-responsive).
What am I supposed to do?
Also, I was able to use KFFirstAide to go into fastboot, if that helps...
Please help...
I had similar issues whenever my disk space is all used up.
kindle fire first aid issue
I had a very sim issue. my solution was to never use kffirstaid to root the device.
your KFHD will be fine, just going to take a bit of love first to fix.
you need to make sure all your settings with your rooting computer are absolutely solid. do you have trouble installing ADB drivers? You need to be able to install UNSIGNED drivers to install the ADB drivers. I don't remember Win 7 too much, but Win 8 won't let you install unsigned drivers unless you Disable Driver signature Enforcement. no problem. Google search "installing unsigned drivers in windows 7" or "8" if you have this problem, has to be disabled.
ADB might be good to you after that, and this is the just the start of the fix. I'm not a programmer, just a mild fiddler, otherwise I'd have saved a lot of time with this.
ADB good? OK then! your problem may be rooting ... it's possible. here's something you could try though: download BusyBox Installer 4.1 from the 1 Mobile market website. your KFHD is slow, right? not dysfunctional. get the file on your device and install it, open it, and have it install busybox. If it can't do it, then you have a problem with your root ... word asside, don't ever uninstall that installer if your going to continue to use Kindle Fire First Aid. keep the APK handy.
if you have rooting problems, DON'T use KFFirstAid to fix it. use Bin4ry's method, it WILL work, as long as your ADB works:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
All this while and your screen is probably still wierd, and really slow. Bin4ry's rooting will take a while with the molasses KFHD. Buckle up.
assuming you manage to slog through the slowed down version that normally takes less then 10 minutes, when you're done, go fire up Kindle Fire First Aid--where this all started. select one option, install the android market. You installed busy box, right? notice, not as many error messages, and when it SAYS it's changing your screen back to normal, it actually WILL. And you'll have the android market installed.
Basically fix your ADB, fix your root, install busybox, and use KFFirstaid to install the android market. And whatever else. Should work like a charm after that. Don't use KFFirstaid to install root, or busybox. actually, you can try using it for busybox. no point really. WAY too drawn out, when you can just get the busybox installer and have it done that way. since the installer isn't a system app, it'll be there even if you perform an Amazon update.
good luck
Well, it all started when I rooted my nexus 7 and downloaded Sinless Rom on there, then i kept getting adds on websites and i always accidentally clicked them so i downloaded lucky patcher and some other adfree app, launched both of the adfree services, then a bit later i had to download something, and it went through adfly, and since it did the page would just come up as an error. So i deleted my lucky patcher and my other adfree app. and wiped my cache, that didnt work. So i went into advanced setting on my recovery and wiped the data, thinking it'd do something else, silly me. then i just said screw it, and wiped completely everything on there, i'm left with basically just my recovery. I've tried plugging the tablet into my computer with the drivers installed, and it doesn't recognize it, at all. So what do i do? my computer wont recognize the tablet i have plugged in.. so then i cant transfer files to it to flash Sinless again... I've tried many different driver installs, forums, i couldn't find anything.. If you have any suggestions. Please say so, Thank You.

Does it detect in bootloader mode? If so, just flash the stock image. As far as ads go, the way to fix that is AdAway. You can get the APK from there, or by using F-Droid.
Sadly it does not detect, bootloader, recovery, or Adb.
If you've got Recovery then you're all sorted. Just get a microUSB memory stick (or OTG cable) and copy the ROM you want to install on it. Recovery should detect it and mount it so from there you can install whatever you want
Ever since I updated to Android N, my computer has not been recognizing my phone as a Nexus 5X device. I believe that this definitely has to do with the phone because I have the drivers installed and other android devices that I have work properly.
Please help.
Did you install the device drivers via the 15 second adb tool?
I am having the same issue and have search and tried every thing I can find. The computer will see it and Nexus Root Tool can flash and control it, but it will not pop up on my computer for me to access the phone storage.

Yeah I tried that, after removing and installing the drivers multiple times it finally decided to work.

Hi all,
I thought I'd turn to the mighty force that is the XDA forums to see if anyone could help fix an issue I'm having.
I understand there is a new update out for the Exynos S20 family that includes camera improvements, but it is not currently available OTA, but you can update via the Smart Switch application on PC.
I have the UK Exynos Samsung Galaxy S20 5G so thought I'd try this manual update method.
After installing Smart Switch on my Windows 10 laptop and the Samsung USB drivers I plugged in my S20 and the laptop immediately recognised the device correctly. It also recognised an update was available (see screenshots).
After clicking update I'm greeted by a message saying my device will be updated to the latest version, it states the update is 5723mb which I thought seems pretty big.
After clicking continue I get a few warnings about backing up my data, not removing the USB cable during install etc.
I then click all confirmed, the warnings go away, then nothing happens!
From watching a few YouTube videos a box should pop up showing the update being downloaded, showing the progress etc on my PC but nothing ever happens.
The smart switch application still works and I can go through all these steps again only for once again nothing to happen.
I've tried a fair few troubleshooting steps including:
Different USB cables, tried 3, each the same (in USB 2 and 3 ports)
Reinstalling the smart switch application on a PC
Reinstalling the drivers for the phone
Checking my antivirus/firewall has the smart switch app whitelisted, it does, all fine
Restarting the PC
Restarting the phone
Running Smart Switch as an administrator
Turning USB debugging on
Making sure the Smart Switch application is not slept etc on my phone
Whatever I try makes no difference at all, the same thing happens, so get so far then nothing, the download never begins, the pop up for the download never opens.
I've checked on task manager in Windows and after I've requested the update begin the application is doing nothing apart from using ram, no CPU or network usage.
I know it's not a big issue, the update will likely be out soon OTA, I just hate when I can't explain why something won't work!
Any and all help much appreciated.
I got a s20 5g withblatest updated firmware and smartswitch and laptop cant recognise phone. Only explorer, is it what happend to you too? Any help or fix for this problem??
I get exactly the same issue
tells me its pre downloaded but like you i click the button and nothing happens
Update is availible OTA now anyway :good:
Thanks for the replies, updated OTA now, who knows why it wouldn't work! Still gave me something to that with during the isolation.
Hi. Anyone uses mobilego wondershare? Cant use it with s20! How to restore apps easily with smartswitch or other restoring software?
