Is your leather back unique? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This is my 3rd g4, but it's the most unique. The leather back (T-Mobile brown) has wrinkles in it through the whole back. It also feels different than the previous 2 I had before it. The previous 2 had no lines or markings like this one.
Does yours have any markings or the like?

Yep, I had 3 of them so far as well, and they are all different. the last one looks to have much more imperfections than the first two, which were very smooth.

Yup my 2nd g4 was wrinkly like that. I just let it out in the sun and it got really tight. No more wrinkles.

Guess mine was more unique than I thought. Sold for over $100 on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/191597922874
Funny as I started it off with a Buy it now price of $40 and ended up getting 150% more.

If I may ask, what's causing you people to get 2nd and 3rd g4s?

This is XDA. If the phone is not perfect, it goes back. It's not unusual for this crowd to send their phone back 10 to 12 times before they get the perfect phone.

The 1st one completely shut off one day and wouldn't power on after no matter what.
The 2nd was overheating to the point of shut down.

Issues with T-Mobile galaxy s3 quality control.

So... I bought my galaxy s3 from tmobile customer service. With a full upgrade I've only paid $ 179 of 16gb.
I've wanted the white one but they were sold out in 16. So I've went ahead and placed a exchange of the 32gb.
The first (white 32gb) had many dust stuck under the sceen... and interfere with the camera as well... so I've called to get me a same but different one that isn't defective this time. (New in box course) now the new one has huge gap on the metal bezel area... I could fit like 5 business card.
So I called again and placed another one...
This time I've told them to put a notation on my account so that the manufacture date is most recent... (both of my defective white phones were made in 7/4/12)
Where as my blue one is perfect...besides the dark pixels.
I really think Samsung's quality control isn't as what they claim to advertise as... I understand that no phones are perfect... but at least do a better job at hiding... lol
So in my opinion I could be getting a bad batch or just unlucky... I will keep you guys updated with my next replacement in white.

No he's not, he's paying for a new product so it shouldn't have any defects or problems. What's the point of a 720p screen if it has dust underneath. My 2 yr old g2 doesn't have any dust whatsoever so why should this.

No ****. How close do you have to have the phone to your face to notice "Dark pixels?"
I wasn't aware that these screen panels could have dust considering the digitizer and screen are fused together. Hmm... :sly:

Yes it's a design flaw, but one could try to use the camera in portrait mode. It would be kind of awkward though.
Just pulled the trigger and bought this case from newegg. I signed up for the free trial for free 2day shipping from shoprunner so it came out to $37 bucks. Then I went to shoprunner to cancel my free trail before I FORGET to cancel (as well all do from time to time) and they gave me a 90 day free trial where they WON'T bill me after the trial is up! Plus if I use shoprunner three times before the 90 days is up they give me a year FREE!!! Can someone say "WINNING!!!" Lol! Thanks op for posting this! I should be getting the case by Thursday the latest, so i'll come back with pictures!!!

There's magnets on the back to hold the flap when it's opened and when it's used as a stand. They could not use a closure magnet as there isn't a bezel. I suppose they would have had to design the tablet with a closure magnet in mind like Apple did. Of course then they would be sued.

Lifeproof Case on eBay?

I've seen a bunch of threads regarding that the Lifeproof cases aren't out yet... But on eBay there are a few cases for sale. I'm guessing these are fake but the pictures look pretty legit. I was about to start a thread and remembered there already was one. So since this thread I've noticed a large increase in the number of fake lifeproof's, I'm assuming some company in china got the specs and started making replicas. Looks like the prices are in the $40 to $50 range, so who's going to be the guinea pig and buy one? Part of me wants to try it since the real lifeproof cases cost $80, but another part of me thinks that its stupid to spend $50 on something that could be complete crap. Especially if it ships from china or hong kong, if I don't like it I'd have to pay the shipping all the way back. Plus I'd have to wait 3 weeks just to get it and possibly another 3 weeks to get the refund........
Anybody want to sponsor me? I'll put a big pictorial and detailed review?
LifeProof
I'll be ordering one from a US Seller for a slightly higher markup. I can post a video review on Youtube, and here as well. I'll get it some time next week, as I'll probably order it with my birthday money or when my paycheck comes in. And hey, if you want to push $5 towards the cause, I wouldn't be opposed They look exactly like the iPhone version, even down to the packaging and colors available. one seller even mentioned that they aren't LifeProof branded, but had a 1 month return/refund/warrenty. In addition, Paypal and my bank offer a certain amount of time to make sure a product actually works (3 or 6 months, I think). I'm game for giving it a shot!
I imagine that the install would be the same as for an iPhone... and I'd want to check the seals BEFORE installing my phone... that'd be really sad.
Found it but it's not on lifeproof website.

Right, that's the whole point of this entire thread. These are FAKE or replicas or whatever you want to call them, that's why this thread got started. That's why they only cost $40 to $50 dollars. That's why some of them are from CHINA. I think I'll probably end up buying one of these once I find a white one that's being sold here in the US. I know they all are probably being made in the same place in Hong Kong or somewhere but I don't see any reason to order something and wait for a month for it to get here.

I didn't even know this one existed. I'll have to look into it. I take it you're happy with the case? Is touch sensitivity okay? I had the OBEX for a week and hated it. I tried a couple of cheap ebay screen protectors which were fine at first but quickly lost their 'smooth' feel.
These official ones though are still glassy smooth a month or so later, would recommend.

Crack on back of watch

Has anyone else noticed any sort of scratch or crack in the back of their watches by the area where the plastic back meets the strap? I haven't exposed the watch to any force or stress (no, I haven't tried to replaced the band) so I'm wondering how the hell I have that big crack all of the sudden. It doesn't affect functionality or charging and it doesn't hurt my skin as it isn't raised but I'm just concerned about the durability of the back and if the band is putting some sort of pressure on it while being worn. I tweeted the photo to motorola and they asked me to email their support department as they want to look into it.
I can't attach the photo as it is too big so a link would do. This was taken yesterday and today I just noticed two tiny cracks in the bottom part where the plastic back meets the edge of the band.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/dmpoh6y71q81d19/IMAG0159.jpg?dl=0
If you're having a similar issue, it'd be helpful to tweet at motorola so they can look into it and perhaps send us a replacement.

Link has been updated with a working one.
There shouldn't be any tension from the straps on the back of the device. I have yet to witness any crack on any part of my watch even though it has had some rough dealings within the first week itself. The durability of this watch is quite amazing! I sweat in it every day after school due to sports and it dries the leather strap very quickly and I have also banged it against some hard surfaces including splintered wood and no scratches/cracks yet. So my conclusion is: there is no stress applied by the band at all and your case should be a factory shipping problem which you can get replaced.
I already have a light scratch on my black one. It was from bumping into a door with my wrist.

That's ridiculous! I tweeted at them again and sent a follow up email because I got two more cracks at the bottom of the device and they are getting bigger each day. This is definitely a manufacturing defect as I have only wore it like any other watch. In fact, I've been babying the thing and been very careful about not to accidentally hit it or drop it.
