So basically I had LiDroid Toggles when I was using a ROM. I really miss how I can change the toggles on top when I slide down.
I have a stock recovery, I guess I can get TWRP, can I just flash the file even though im not on a stock ROM? I don't think I can brick my phone right since im flashing through recovery? ugh some please shed some light thanks.
You likely wont hard brick....but if the files you want to flash do not state "compatible" with the rom you are running, then the chance of a software brick is quite high...
you may want to use a rom suitable for those particular mods ??
I dont second guess developers any more, as it has cost me dearly in the past.
If Scott says it's a go, then go for it...but if his extensive thread info does not include the ability...then avoid it like the plague...

Ok my first question isnt too important. I want to know if anyone on T-Mobile firmware has attempted the Harmon Kardon mod to see if it works.
Second question, can anyone make a full backup of T-Mobile firmware via Phillz recovery and send me a link to it?
I have an AT&T M8 and i want to do a conversion to T-Mobile firmware cuz HK mod does not work on ATT 1.12 firmware. I currently have developer edition firmware with HK mod working flawlessly. The reason i want to try T-Mobile firmware is for ISIS as DE does not support it supposedly.
Please forgive me if threads on this already exist.
Thank you.

When i tried it on ATT firmware, I did not get any app not compatible message, it simply removed the toggle for boomsound. Luckily i made a backup before i flashed. well, either way i ended up flashing DE firmware and applying HK mod.
If anyone has a backup of T-Mobile firmware please let me know. If memory serves, you need an unlocked bootloader to flash recovery regardless of s-on or s-off. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Or for those that dont want to flash recovery, i used:
Code:
fastboot boot {name of my philz recovery file}.img
Then make a full backup (except /data cuz i dont need ur info).
What do you mean by T-Mobile firmware? I'm on the T-Mobile firmware running IC. HK mod works flawlessly with Bluetooth and only flacs through 3.5mm jack.

how did u do it? some hrs after my last post i found a thread containing nands of most m8 firmwares. i downloaded the t-mobile 1.12.xxx (i forget the build number at the moment) and applied it on my fone.. isis full working but wen i applied h/k, the menu item did not show up and boomsound was gone. what software version did u have wen u applied h/k?
edit:
nevermind, i revisited the h/k thread and OP added 1.1x firmwares cant do it.. ugh.. i guess ill have to wait on isis for now..
Are you referring to Rom build #? I Always understood firmware to be that, that must flashed with adb through fastboot, requiring s-off.
Nevermind: Why don't you run a custom rom? Insertcoin supports T-Mobile US.

Yea im referring to Rom build. sorry for the confusion. I know how to flash thru fastboot, i have s-off. Now i want to know how @seawolf823 managed to get h/k working on t-mobile build despite the latest t-mobile rom being 1.12.xxx unless i am mistaken. I dont really want a custom rom just yet because i want to learn how to do specific mods that catch my attention. and cuz i find that most custom roms have a bit too many customizations i cant keep track what is what. I'm all for my phone performing like a monster but i dont want it to look like one just yet, not bashing on rom developers, i think they did amazing jobs, just i want a completely unmodified look, and of course removing bloatware i will never use.

You need to be on 1.54 for H/K to work. It is impossible to have H/K working on 1.12, the Settings.apk doesn't support the H/K settings. Even if you used a Settings.apk from 1.54 you still need the 1.54 framework for it to actually work.
Had to make my own ROM, but it works.

I understand this, it is clearly posted on the thread's OP, which is why im asking how the heck seawolf823 got H/K on T-Mobile, unless he's on a custom rom. Maybe im not reading clearly or everyone seems confused as to what im asking. I have the habit of doing as much research as i can before i lose patience, well in this case the OP-er hadn't added the prereq for 1.54 to the OP till like the day after i attempted the mod. anyways, not trying to start a war here.
I guess until US carriers start updating to 1.54, my question now is what custom rom supports AT&T or T-Mobile ISIS and is compatible with H/K?

He has to be on a Custom ROM, no way he is on 1.12 with H/K.
You need an xposed module to hide root from ISIS because it won't work if it detects root. Also from what I've seen no ROM includes the nfcee_access.xml that contains the ISIS signature, you would have to push that yourself.
Why not just use Google Wallet?

im on Developer Edition rom. I'm downloading a T-Mobile rom to extract the file. I made nand backups of my original rom but i have it on another pc at the moment.
Hello guys,
Bought a htc one m8 from a "friend". It came already with Team Win Recovery Project, so it means that someone installed it.
"Inside" the phone, the icons on the app screen are smaller than in the common HTC's (grid is 4x5), which i believe it is a failed custom ROM that someone installed (am i right??)
When i press POWER+VOLUME it enters in that "crazy" menu and, on top, it says S-ON.
How can i wipe all of this (including this TWRP) and restore all default factory settings, so my HTC app menu looks like everybody else's?
Although, i want it to stay unlocked as it is.
I do not intend to root it for now, or install any custom rom (for now).
Sorry about my English,
Thanks in advance,
Cheers
André
I think you should be able to follow this to go back to stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735235
Although as you are still S-On, you won't be able to remove the tampered banner or re-lock your bootloader though.
Everything else will be stock though.

Its probably just a custom ROM that has the option for smaller icons and/or smaller icon grid in the app drawer.

Hey Folks
I have a slight issue, I had a rooted HTC 10(UK EE) phone running firmware 1.80.91.1, which I wanted to update so I flashed a back-up from TWRP to restore OTA functionality, however, this backup was corrupted and the phone got stuck in a boot loop with no OS, hurrah!
I've sorted that however, by locating a TWRP backup of 1.21.91.4, which was the only one I could find for the CID EVE__001, this file was just a boot and sys.img no recovery, now I still can't get OTA updates as I'm getting the file system is corrupted error when trying to download the updates.
So I've hunted and hunted either to find a full back-up, recovery or RUU that will work with my CID as I'm S-on, I have had no luck, so I can no longer get updates for the phone.
So, does anyone have a stock recovery they could upload for either 1.21.91.4, or even better a full back-up of any of the x.xx.91.x firmware? I've been tearing my hair out trying to find anything above 1.21.91.4 and even that was just a partially back up.
Any help is muchly appreciated.
Hi, I am om EE uk but my CID is HTC__001.
I HAVE A FULL BACKUP DONE IN TWRP, WHICH YOU CAN HAVE. I WILL SORT IT OUT AND SEND YOU A LINK. DONT KNOW IF IT WILL WORK BECAUSE OF DIFFERENT CID, BUT YOU CAN GIVE IT A GO.

Sorry to resurrect the thread, @si86 I've having trouble restoring radio signal on my HTC 10 after flashing an incorrect ROM, I'm on EE also- I'd really appreciate a copy of your TWRP backup to try on my handset if you are able to supply, would be very appreciated! I'm able to change the CID to match, having been through them all recently! My bootloader is unlocked and I'm S-Off. Thanks.
@Tuesg Were you able to rectify your situation?

I've just hunted high and low to try and figure out why nothing will flash successfully to my HTC 10.
turns out to be this same issue, I'm showing as CID - EVE_001 on an MID 2PS62000
Any chance you could send me that link as well so that I can at least try and get the phone back to a usable state instead of being stuck in either bootloader, download or recovery.
My phone is Bootloader unlocked, but still S-On as I hadn't got that far yet.
Will i need to flash a stock recovery? and lock the bootloader again to get this to install properly?
It's really proving tricky as hell.
I got caught out a bit here as I was half way to using sunshine to s_off, and then I accidentally triggered an OTA update to Nougat 7.0.......
It never restarted properly after that and i've been unable to get it back to 6 or any other ROM at all as they all fail.
I managed to fix it, but only by switching to s-off and installing the EU edition software, I'm a tad concerned now though as I've yet to get the roll out of the 7.0 update, not sure if that's because of installing a different firmware or whether it hasn't been rolled out yet.
@si86 Many thanks for your assistance and sharing the files, I was unable to fix my phone after trying various avenues (100+hrs) so I swallowed my pride and went the insurance route, not worth spending more time on getting to work and I now have a rather nice device, yet unusable call/texts wise to play with alongside my nice shiny new one running 2.41.91.3 - I've rooted and S-off with sunshine, just trying to decide whether i'm going to play with some more custom ROMS again! Of course I am!
@Tuesg Kudos on fixing your issue!

Along with superuser usually comes with an app for configuring it, depending on how it was rooted. SuperSU is usually the most common although I much prefer magisk.
It will be obvious what it's called, either superuser, SuperSU, etc. SuperSU contains within it the ability to fully unroot.
If there's no app, and if it is a stock rom, and not a custom one, a factory reset will remove it. If not, you will probably need to either do some adb commands to remove it, or remove it using the recovery.

In short terms, yes that might work for banking apps but it won't work for future Android updates. You need a completely stock (untouched) system and SU changes that even if you choose to unroot via the application.
hi when i i tried that super user unoot it goes to Twrp bootloader and nothing in there says unroot or uninstall twrp bootloader

I've had that issue with both Viper and Maximus. Removing root doesnt seem to totally remove it, and certain apps still pick up ... something.
Going back to total stock condition is a huge pain in the unmentionables. Because quite a lot of phones don't actually have an RUU for thier CID (for instance mine, H3G__001) has no RUU. So complete stock, even from TWRP backup was never an option for me. Even though ROOT wasnt an issue, things like OTA problems persisted no matter what.
I had to S-OFF (worth it in general tbh) in order to go back to a complete stock condition using the HTC WWE version (HTC__001). In the end I just decided to stick with the ROM I have now, LeeDroid. It has the option to be installed without root from the get go, but these days I just use Magisk. It is so simple to hide from banking apps and even things like pokemon go, that it doesnt do any harm having root there.

Hi there,
I'm in the exact same spot as the guy above. I restored the backup he mentioned, but don't have the Recovery. Therefore my phone is telling me I need to enter decryption password and won't boot past it.

Has anyone tried unlocking a T-Mobile g7 bootloader from the developer options? I've turned on developer options and OEM unlock option is in there but I haven't connected it to pc to check with ADB.
only the EU bootloader has been unlocked, something to do with TMO releasing some keys or something for the secuity, I believe. I know on HTCs I used to have TMO had certain encryption on wifi calling and a few signatures that were broken by touching the security partition needed to gain root and install custom OSs. Once LG updates their bootloader unlock page to include TMO version G7 (I have one, too) then we'll see a KDZ thread and then root

Root is unlikely on the T-Mobile variant due to T-Mobile using different RSA Encryption keys compared to every other carrier, also the development for this phone is basically one guy. I hope I'm wrong about it being unlikely but from what I've been reading and what I've been told it's a slim chance it's going to happen

Tell me something. What's the real use for root now-a-days? My z2 force is rooted and is super buggy. Hardly any Xposed apps are even working anymore. This phone is super solid and reliable. It's also a lot further ahead than the one+ 6T will be.

Greenify was the biggie to me particularly with the Xposed module. Titanium Backup. Disabling system apps that the UI wouldn't let me disable. (Maybe that can be done via adb w/o root. I should try.) BootManager. MinMinGuard. Worthwhile system-wide font replacement w/o bloat. (No apps, no junk, no "apps that don't support <thing> or <favorite font>", just replacing files in /system/fonts.)
Lots of other little things that -- added together -- made my phone just that much nicer to me.
I'm really happy with my G7 all around (except for the WiFi stability, that still sucks). I just wish I had all those little tweaks back.
I made a post about a week ago but never got any replies. Has anyone else ran the "fastboot flash unlock_critical" command? My phone restarts and shows the erasing screen but no actual bootloader unlock.
Any updates?
I'll try out when I make it back home sorry was flooded here we either need to mod kernel or laf aand github has a repo on some I'm checking on I'll be able to check more sorry and package disable pro will freeze apps or use autoprimes way on rooted you can use twrp file manager to delete system apps on moto z2 oem can't be touched but there's ways

There's been petitions for like every locked-down LG device since the beginning of time. Never has it been effective, never will it be. LG doesn't reverse its bootloader locking policy.
