please help me
I just need to know plain and simple if i do this:
1) root my phone.. (i don't know how to if i will get 1.85 in my phone. I would always want to keep it stock version without unlocking bootloader so please anyone provide me files to just run a batch file in debugging mode that will make me get root please?!)
2)then going in /system/build.prop
Add: qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 to the bottom of the file
and Reboot .
this will remove the three dots menu option right?! (as i just need this to be removed only)
but the three main capacitive buttons after all this, will they work all normally as they do, like back button will make app go back, middle home button will work same as home button and last button i guess it opens recent apps? and it will work the same way aswell?!
and as if the three dots menu button will be disabled/gone... so when playing game and i would want to exit it, then by just pressing back or home key will do and close the app or will it still be running in backgroud?! or what should i be doing then?!
please help so i be prepared i promise to thanks many posts who would help
waiting impatiently for replies ...
In the new software base (2.05) that should be official in some weeks it is disabled by default...you can read about it in this thread

You can already instal a custom ROM and do that if you want (because there are already ROMs with this new software base) ... but if you dont want to root your device (so you dont loose your warranty) it will be fixed in the next update
The menu button isn't that much of an issue, but fair play on HTC giving us the option to change it

yes u are right i just read this: new solution for the 3Dot menu! we can change it on the fly in the display options, with option for long hold recent apps for menu or vice versa or the 3dot menu, display menu is now called display gestures and buttons
and there would be changes with that, and really should be... so will update when the stock update will come
sir i want to root my phone, but dont want to unlock the bootloader.. So please can u tell me the files or thread if there is a way by which i can root my phone easily by being in debugging mode and running a batch file, which will make phone restart several times and in end i get root?! so i be able to remove bloatwares

nevermind ill keep the phone unrooted then and will remove some apps from it which can just be uninstalled normally if possible.... and as its "quadcore" wow my pc isnt quadcore lol !! so i don't think so i would need that....
and further update will give options to diable three dots stuff, etc
so that's pretty much it...
but just one thing here's a thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709424
why this guy said this ?! " After you are rooted, I strongly suggest you unlock your bootloader immediately!! "
what will happen if i don't ?!
nevermind that i guess the root is for HTC One XL (otherwise known as the AT&T HTC One X)

So after a year and half with this phone, I thought about installing a better ROM.
I experience with these kind of things from the time I had the galaxy 1 and I changed tons of ROMs on that.
But the xperia seems a bit different with ROM changing.
What are some basic things I need to know, and where can I find the stock ROM (just in case)?
If this isn't the correct to forum for this post, please notify me.
ROM changing ist not very different from Samsung...
If your bootloader is unlocked and your CWM is working, then you can install all Roms as ZIP like on the Galaxy
Always make an Backup with CWM to be save and get back in case of errors, thereforce i didn't need a the stock ROM
Just have a look here on the last pages

thanks! But what I meant is that with my sgs I didn't need to open the bootloader and install CWM since it was already there.
How do I unlock the bootloader and install CWM, should I root it first?
Just have a closer look to the link mentioned above.
I postet there a link to a Guide, how to flash a custom rom (including unlocking Bootloader)
and Mirhawk gave aditional tipps
Have you bought your sgs secondhand?
Because you have to install CWM one time on your sgs, too.
And it is a similar effort to flash sgs with odin then unlocking your bootloader on the xperia S

Install ROM's in Xperia S is not difficult.
You must have Rooted your phone and Install CWM (like the comment above)
I was like you when I decided flash ROMs.
I recommend you see if your bootloader is open or not (when you verificate it, you will see in the screen of your phone BOOTLOADER UNLOCK, and then YES or NO. bootloader is easy to open when you have YES, but when it's in not is a bit complicated)
To put the BOOTLOADER UNLOCK in YES, first: you have to have your phone free (your phone have to be available to use with others companies) in my case, for example, i dont have my phone free, but to liberate it with my company, give mea code and after that I introduce it and set free the phone. (after that you will allow to open BOOTLOADER)
Here in XDA have 2 types of ROMS, to LOCK and UNLOCK bootloader, I am using TrinityVengance RaptorXL by f(x)THaxxorX, before that I used, LeopardX 5.0 by savergigio
To flash ROMs you use ClockWorldMOd, its very easy, if you need more help tell me

Hey, thanks for replying. I'm a total noob at this. I don't know what these terms mean s-off or flashing. I did tried to google them but to no avail.
Can you guide me a little as how do I turn s-off?
My device is the middle eastern version.

Is it safe though? Any risk of bricking?

I still have a lagging problem and unusable camera after numerous factory resets, cache clearing and removing disabling apps. Is there a definitive solution out there? Thanks again.
Install Xposed installer and install the framework. You can find guides about it all over the desire eye forum. Then open the installed app i.e Xposed Installer. Go to downloads and search MobileRadioActiveFix. Download and install it. Then go back to main menu. Go to framework and reboot device from the framework.

Hey Folks
I have a slight issue, I had a rooted HTC 10(UK EE) phone running firmware 1.80.91.1, which I wanted to update so I flashed a back-up from TWRP to restore OTA functionality, however, this backup was corrupted and the phone got stuck in a boot loop with no OS, hurrah!
I've sorted that however, by locating a TWRP backup of 1.21.91.4, which was the only one I could find for the CID EVE__001, this file was just a boot and sys.img no recovery, now I still can't get OTA updates as I'm getting the file system is corrupted error when trying to download the updates.
So I've hunted and hunted either to find a full back-up, recovery or RUU that will work with my CID as I'm S-on, I have had no luck, so I can no longer get updates for the phone.
So, does anyone have a stock recovery they could upload for either 1.21.91.4, or even better a full back-up of any of the x.xx.91.x firmware? I've been tearing my hair out trying to find anything above 1.21.91.4 and even that was just a partially back up.
Any help is muchly appreciated.
Hi, I am om EE uk but my CID is HTC__001.
I HAVE A FULL BACKUP DONE IN TWRP, WHICH YOU CAN HAVE. I WILL SORT IT OUT AND SEND YOU A LINK. DONT KNOW IF IT WILL WORK BECAUSE OF DIFFERENT CID, BUT YOU CAN GIVE IT A GO.

I've just hunted high and low to try and figure out why nothing will flash successfully to my HTC 10.
turns out to be this same issue, I'm showing as CID - EVE_001 on an MID 2PS62000
Any chance you could send me that link as well so that I can at least try and get the phone back to a usable state instead of being stuck in either bootloader, download or recovery.
My phone is Bootloader unlocked, but still S-On as I hadn't got that far yet.
Will i need to flash a stock recovery? and lock the bootloader again to get this to install properly?
It's really proving tricky as hell.
I got caught out a bit here as I was half way to using sunshine to s_off, and then I accidentally triggered an OTA update to Nougat 7.0.......
It never restarted properly after that and i've been unable to get it back to 6 or any other ROM at all as they all fail.
I managed to fix it, but only by switching to s-off and installing the EU edition software, I'm a tad concerned now though as I've yet to get the roll out of the 7.0 update, not sure if that's because of installing a different firmware or whether it hasn't been rolled out yet.
@si86 Many thanks for your assistance and sharing the files, I was unable to fix my phone after trying various avenues (100+hrs) so I swallowed my pride and went the insurance route, not worth spending more time on getting to work and I now have a rather nice device, yet unusable call/texts wise to play with alongside my nice shiny new one running 2.41.91.3 - I've rooted and S-off with sunshine, just trying to decide whether i'm going to play with some more custom ROMS again! Of course I am!
@Tuesg Kudos on fixing your issue!

Along with superuser usually comes with an app for configuring it, depending on how it was rooted. SuperSU is usually the most common although I much prefer magisk.
It will be obvious what it's called, either superuser, SuperSU, etc. SuperSU contains within it the ability to fully unroot.
If there's no app, and if it is a stock rom, and not a custom one, a factory reset will remove it. If not, you will probably need to either do some adb commands to remove it, or remove it using the recovery.

In short terms, yes that might work for banking apps but it won't work for future Android updates. You need a completely stock (untouched) system and SU changes that even if you choose to unroot via the application.
hi when i i tried that super user unoot it goes to Twrp bootloader and nothing in there says unroot or uninstall twrp bootloader

I've had that issue with both Viper and Maximus. Removing root doesnt seem to totally remove it, and certain apps still pick up ... something.
Going back to total stock condition is a huge pain in the unmentionables. Because quite a lot of phones don't actually have an RUU for thier CID (for instance mine, H3G__001) has no RUU. So complete stock, even from TWRP backup was never an option for me. Even though ROOT wasnt an issue, things like OTA problems persisted no matter what.
I had to S-OFF (worth it in general tbh) in order to go back to a complete stock condition using the HTC WWE version (HTC__001). In the end I just decided to stick with the ROM I have now, LeeDroid. It has the option to be installed without root from the get go, but these days I just use Magisk. It is so simple to hide from banking apps and even things like pokemon go, that it doesnt do any harm having root there.

GIVE ME A DAY OR SO.

Hi there,
I'm in the exact same spot as the guy above. I restored the backup he mentioned, but don't have the Recovery. Therefore my phone is telling me I need to enter decryption password and won't boot past it.
Would you be able to give me that backup too?
Thanks.
