Just hoping to get some thoughts for or against the note 2 in regards to the press release regarding the nexus 4 with very similar specs going to sell for $350 out of contract.
I have to say my mind was blown, to have official updates as they roll out, and being able to have a large library of roms to choose from is a major selling point for me.
Looking to possibly keep the note 2, but I really am on the edge of my seat... thoughts about nexus 4/note 2 would be greatly appreciated.
I paid the same as you and I have no regrets. The Nexus looks to be an awesome device but the Note 2 is in its own category - are you forgetting that? And do I have to remind you about our amazing 5.5" RGB screen? I repeat, no regrets! I frickin love this thing.
Great specs and price on the nexus 4. I thought it would run about $450 at least for the phone with those specs.
I haven't got my note 2 yet but I am seriously considering getting the nexus 4 instead.

It is a beautiful screen, cant deny that Im just having trouble digesting the fact I could buy both the tablet and the phone for under $700... I could even eat the $50 restocking fee and still afford both... :/
Does anyone know where the cost are going?
Are devs jumping on the Equinos bandwagon?
I am thinking about the same thing. I love the screen and size, but I am not a fan of the smooth back. It feels like I am about to drop it bc its so slippery. I feel as if I am holding a priced possession rather than a phone. I have noticed myself being extra careful bc of the back and I don't want that. I wish the back had some kind of traction for grip. I am seriously thinking about returning this and buying a Nexus 4. And don't forget we can get a Nexus 4 and a Nexus 10 for what we paid for note 2.

I personally am going to try to push the return policy till almost the last day (14 days) So I can hear some early reviews on the nexus 4. I dont mind sticking with the note 2, but the true multi-tasking feature has not even been released yet (patiently waiting for samsung to update, never done that before)..... and that was kind of a huge setback for me.

Yes, you can buy both devices for less than $700 but then of course you have two devices. If that does not matter to you, I say go for it. I sold my iPad and GS3 to downsize to a single device. So far I am loving it.
btw IF I do decide to return the note 2, I am sure as hell going to miss the pop out video player. I am in love with that.
LG... lol after my g2x I learned my lesson. No thanks. Even if they paid me

I bought it off-contract as well, at full price, but I still think it's only 14 days.
The S-Pen should be a major factor when buying a Note 2. If you are simply using it as a phone or web browser, I think your original purchase of a Note was the problem. If you paid $700 for a product that will help you be more productive, then it's money well spent. If you paid $700 for a toy... not sure what that makes your money, just know it's not well spent.
Notes are productivity investments, tis why the Note 1 still sells for well over $500 new. If you define the word "need" for yourself, you will never have to worry. (side note, the current Nexus can't be beat when it comes to Dev support, and it's cheaper still... so there's that)
I'm actually very surprised at the high amount of people from this forum, that jumped so fast on the note 2 before Google announced what they were bringing out. ( official specs, not speculation)
The question is..... Is removable memory, bigger screen, spen, worth double, not to mention the wireless charging?
I have a g tab 2.7, and like Samsung.
I do miss the amoled screen of my N1 though.

I just wish I could buy a Nexus type back cover. Something with a little grip. I don't use/need cases, just need a back cover with grip. Is that too much to ask? lol

Big thanks to all the devs for the t999. Much appreciated! I sold my s3 and bought a nexus 4 with the money.:laugh::laugh::good::good::good:
Congrats for downgrade.
Congrats for buying a phone made by LG....
Sweet.. Have fun with your n4

i came from the n4, after my galaxy nexus. i could stand the galaxy nexus not have removeable sd but at least it had removeable battery. i can't justify "upgrading" to a phone that is against progress of android. terrible battery life, glass front and back thats easy to scratch and crack. and then 10 minutes into usinf the browser and the phone gets so hot you can fry an egg on it, literally. not to mention, google and lg making like 15 of em and being sold out, tmobile not carrying it in stores. now that they carry it in store, still no accessories. yeah have fun with that phone. galaxy s3 is hands down the best android phone produced till date.
I tried the N4 and I'd miss the few hardware buttons remaining on the s3. The soft buttons seem like such a waste of screen real estate.
I also purchased a nexus 4 the other night. But I'm also keeping my s3 til I get the n4 and make a comparison.

I don't understand how the Nexus 4 is against the progress of Android. It has Google's version of android on it. The lack of sd card expansion is the way that Google wants to go. As for the removable battery that just seems to be the latest trend.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion so you can like the phone or not. But saying it hinders the progress of android just doesn't make sense to me.

I picked up my OG used on eBay for $160 a month ago. I had minimal expectations. I shattered my GS3 and with no warranty and a full year of contract left before my upgrade I needed something affordable and still high-end-ish. I settled on this mostly because of it's quad processor and 13 mp camera [a camera which I to this day had maybe 20 minutes of actual fully functional use of] I was crazy apprehensive of going to a phone with no removal battery or sd slot. These were some of the things I loved the most and lorded them over my iPhone touting friends. But here I was. Me! Knowing my download limitations waaaay in advance. Me! Unable to just pull the cover off and tap the battery out to fix sudden crashes. It was madness at it's finest.
Then suddenly I started to grow to love this thing. The thin, light-weight body. The bright screen. The native (non-Samsung) Android menu key positions. The modest xda community. Something about having a device that next to no one knows about is refreshing.
This device makes me feel like I have some non-amazing super powers just waiting to bust out.
Now if only I could get some damned 4G around here....
Or an official update to the latest JB

Very cool man. This here phone of ours is a beast and based on specs, might be future proofed for some time yet. It certainly won't compete on a raw power basis with some of what's rolling off assembly lines even today, but it will be able to run just about everything we throw at it competently for quite some time.

The day before i traded an evo 3d for a iphone 4s with 9 months of applecare+ and apple gave me a brand new one the next day
Welcome! This is a great phone!
I just got my lgog and I'm loving it. I've had it for a week and upgraded from an og evo that wasn't really so mobile anymore. Somehow a capacitor blew on my motherboard so my phone would last randomly between 20 minutes and 2 hours, randomly shut off when battery showed 40-80% so I was tethered to my charger lol. Oh well this phone is amazing. I rooted and unlocked it the day after I got it haha
Got mine yesterday, 170 bucks. clean esn, all the plastic on it still, cords/tags/etc still sealed.
guy was leaving sprint and wanted to get some quick money

i tried to earlier. my main desktop is out of commission until i get a new PSU, my current computer is single core 2gb and takes more than 20 mins to compile a kernel (im used to under 4). when i get it back up and running ill consider doing a stock based kernel (i have yet to find a reason to flash aosp on my device) and ill see how im feeling then.

So as some of you might already know the Nexus 5 was released today.
I was lucky enough to get my order in on a white 32 gigabyte version. Just wanted to see how many of you galaxy s3 3 users are planning to upgrade?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
Nope, battery is a deal breaker. Though I would consider the LG G2. Anything with less than 3 days battery life I wouldn't consider. I remember the days I went to visit a friend or went camping and was scrambling to find a socket then remembering I didn't bring a charge cord. No more.
That's when I bought a Droid MAXX, now the S3 with zerolemon 7000mah. I can use it for days and not worry about losing power when it matters most.
This is just what I look for. I work in an office and can charge it all day, but on the weekend I like my freedom. Otherwise it's a cracking phone.
I also ordered the 32 gb nexus 5, but in black

Have a great day!
I think I had plenty of time to play with the note 4 here, I can't seem to get use to the screen size. The phone is fast and smooth, even TW is snapper then it's previous. I am thinking about returning it for a smaller phone, I was leaning more towards the LG G3 just because it's a smaller compact in 5.2" body. I don't know how this will work since I went with the promotion with trade in program with BB. Will I get my $250.00 back onto new gift card, or would I loose that? I will go in tomorrow to do the switch. I'm sure most of you guys think that I am crazy about doing this. Whats your advise on this?
I say do what fits you best. I know when I first got my note 3 last year it took me a couple of weeks to get used to it. Maybe give yourself a bit more time with until the exchange/return time us about up.

I agree with others, I think you need a minimum of 2 weeks to truly analyze the size. Even my buddy who was totally against bigger phones was convinced after seeing note 4 compact size (compared to other big phones). I think it's big until you develop practical use cases, which takes time. However, if you can't do you can't do. Also, LG G3 is a 5.5" and is not that much smaller. But if that's what you want you should go for it.

I had the same issue. But I got used to it fairly quickly. The g3 is really just as big. If you can't get used to it you have to have something you like. Luckily there are plenty of options out there.

the note4 actually slim than other big phones, that's why it holds nicely in my wife small hands. She's only 4'8" tall and if she can handle the note 4 then all men should able too!!!

Couple of days and the Turbo becomes an option. I am on the fence with this phone. If BB has the 64GB one....it might be a wrap for the N4
