I think I had plenty of time to play with the note 4 here, I can't seem to get use to the screen size. The phone is fast and smooth, even TW is snapper then it's previous. I am thinking about returning it for a smaller phone, I was leaning more towards the LG G3 just because it's a smaller compact in 5.2" body. I don't know how this will work since I went with the promotion with trade in program with BB. Will I get my $250.00 back onto new gift card, or would I loose that? I will go in tomorrow to do the switch. I'm sure most of you guys think that I am crazy about doing this. Whats your advise on this?
I say do what fits you best. I know when I first got my note 3 last year it took me a couple of weeks to get used to it. Maybe give yourself a bit more time with until the exchange/return time us about up.

I agree with others, I think you need a minimum of 2 weeks to truly analyze the size. Even my buddy who was totally against bigger phones was convinced after seeing note 4 compact size (compared to other big phones). I think it's big until you develop practical use cases, which takes time. However, if you can't do you can't do. Also, LG G3 is a 5.5" and is not that much smaller. But if that's what you want you should go for it.

I had the same issue. But I got used to it fairly quickly. The g3 is really just as big. If you can't get used to it you have to have something you like. Luckily there are plenty of options out there.

the note4 actually slim than other big phones, that's why it holds nicely in my wife small hands. She's only 4'8" tall and if she can handle the note 4 then all men should able too!!!

Couple of days and the Turbo becomes an option. I am on the fence with this phone. If BB has the 64GB one....it might be a wrap for the N4

Thinking of getting a Note 2 here in Dubai, just a quick question for people who have a Note 2 or Note 1.. do you get used to the huge size? How long did it take you to stop thinking "damn, that phone is big!" I've played around with the Note 2 and love the screen but have trouble imagining myself using it everyday, but I'm hoping it could grow on me (pun intended)
I'm coming from the Galaxy Nexus if that helps, anyone else made the same transition?
I used Galaxy S1>Galaxy S2>Galaxy s3 and Now Note 2. 5.5 is not a very huge design. Honestly it fits perfectly in my hand and pocket just like Galaxy s3. I can easily operate it with my 1 hand too and my hands are NORMAL. Even if you have small hands or small pockets, you will get used to it within a couple of days. Grab it man , its just Awesomeeee
Have come from a G2, which is way smaller but haven't found it too hard to switch. Have to use two hands for browsing and stuff but it's worth it for the media experience.
If you use your phone mainly as a phone, the Note isn't for you. If you use it more for Internet and media, go for it. You won't regret.

I too am coming from a GNexus and the GN2, to me, feels better in my hand. This is gonna sound funny but I used the GNexus for about a year and it progressively felt like it was too small. haha! I prefer texting and writing emails with both hands so the GN2 obviously gives me more real estate to make that more comfortable for me.
The problem I have now is deciding what I want to read my books and Flipboard articles with...my N7 or my GN2...
Damn I hate you guys! You just made me order a Note 2 32GB which is arriving tonight Now I have to get my SIM cut quickly!
EDIT: Spoke too soon.. they're "out of stock" on the 32GB, got the 16GB instead+ 64GB MicroSD
It is more of a question of 'how did i ever use something so small?' when you pick up your old phone after using the note for a week.

This!
coming from iPhone 4 it took me all of 1 day.. actually more like 8 hrs or so to start wondering why other phones are so small...
it really surprised me a ton as I was dead set on getting the 2gb s3 lte but changed to note 2 at last second at the store counter ... I was pretty much sure I won't get used to the huge size but subtle changes in dimension from note 1 to 2 made a world's difference in handling...

When I was using my GNexus for months people were asking how I could possibly like using a phone so huge. Most of them are iPhone users minus a few that have seen the light that is Android. I seriously don't know how people can be very productive with anything smaller than 4.7" screen. Blows my mind now

Not long at all. I always wanted a bigger phone, and most importantly - I realized right away that I shouldn't bother trying to use it one handed.

Now that I got the phone, I wholeheartedly agree with every one of your comments

Too big? Nope nope nope. Got used to it immediately, mainly because it looked soooo much bigger in all the videos i watched.
Once i actually saw the box it came in i was like, wow! Thats perfect. So watch all the videos you can BEFORE and it won't seem too big at all...problem solved : )
I love this phone sooooooo much, it has inspired me to invent a new word: This phone is, "unputdownable.".. get Webster's on the line...lol
Not big. At all.
GNexus feels now like smth way to small.
Only one thing that annoys me, that battery cover is kinda slippery.
Just hoping to get some thoughts for or against the note 2 in regards to the press release regarding the nexus 4 with very similar specs going to sell for $350 out of contract.
I have to say my mind was blown, to have official updates as they roll out, and being able to have a large library of roms to choose from is a major selling point for me.
Looking to possibly keep the note 2, but I really am on the edge of my seat... thoughts about nexus 4/note 2 would be greatly appreciated.
I paid the same as you and I have no regrets. The Nexus looks to be an awesome device but the Note 2 is in its own category - are you forgetting that? And do I have to remind you about our amazing 5.5" RGB screen? I repeat, no regrets! I frickin love this thing.
Great specs and price on the nexus 4. I thought it would run about $450 at least for the phone with those specs.
I haven't got my note 2 yet but I am seriously considering getting the nexus 4 instead.

It is a beautiful screen, cant deny that Im just having trouble digesting the fact I could buy both the tablet and the phone for under $700... I could even eat the $50 restocking fee and still afford both... :/
Does anyone know where the cost are going?
Are devs jumping on the Equinos bandwagon?
I am thinking about the same thing. I love the screen and size, but I am not a fan of the smooth back. It feels like I am about to drop it bc its so slippery. I feel as if I am holding a priced possession rather than a phone. I have noticed myself being extra careful bc of the back and I don't want that. I wish the back had some kind of traction for grip. I am seriously thinking about returning this and buying a Nexus 4. And don't forget we can get a Nexus 4 and a Nexus 10 for what we paid for note 2.

I personally am going to try to push the return policy till almost the last day (14 days) So I can hear some early reviews on the nexus 4. I dont mind sticking with the note 2, but the true multi-tasking feature has not even been released yet (patiently waiting for samsung to update, never done that before)..... and that was kind of a huge setback for me.

Yes, you can buy both devices for less than $700 but then of course you have two devices. If that does not matter to you, I say go for it. I sold my iPad and GS3 to downsize to a single device. So far I am loving it.
btw IF I do decide to return the note 2, I am sure as hell going to miss the pop out video player. I am in love with that.

I bought it off-contract as well, at full price, but I still think it's only 14 days.
The S-Pen should be a major factor when buying a Note 2. If you are simply using it as a phone or web browser, I think your original purchase of a Note was the problem. If you paid $700 for a product that will help you be more productive, then it's money well spent. If you paid $700 for a toy... not sure what that makes your money, just know it's not well spent.
Notes are productivity investments, tis why the Note 1 still sells for well over $500 new. If you define the word "need" for yourself, you will never have to worry. (side note, the current Nexus can't be beat when it comes to Dev support, and it's cheaper still... so there's that)
I'm actually very surprised at the high amount of people from this forum, that jumped so fast on the note 2 before Google announced what they were bringing out. ( official specs, not speculation)
The question is..... Is removable memory, bigger screen, spen, worth double, not to mention the wireless charging?
I have a g tab 2.7, and like Samsung.
I do miss the amoled screen of my N1 though.

From the aspect of what I plan on doing, the larger screen would be great, but I'm more concerned about the hardware such as processor and such...

That being said, the NOTE2 is a bit to bulky to fit in a pockect. So I would stick with the S3. But that's just my 2 cents.

I would just try it for a couple weeks. Only thing that will stop you from keeping it is the size of the phone. Other than that it's a great update and a matter of preference.

Well if the bigger screen helps you, go for it. I understand if it's a bit too bulky to fit in your pocket, though. Might I suggest investing in cargo pants/shorts? And if you're worried about specs, the Note 2 has better specs as it is.

Honestly, at this point in the mobile market, I don't see any reason for comparing phone specs. Very few users even use their phones to do more than calling and texting, and of those that go beyond that, even fewer actually push the limits of these phones.
Nowadays people run towards the "newest" and "best" hardware, but when they actually get their phones they hardly even tap the surface of its potential.

I also agree with that, but he was the one concerned with hardware. But hey, whatever floats your boat. It wont be worth having phones with super high specifications until they can start doing everything desktops and laptops can do just as efficiently.

One can always wait for the next great product.
If you like the features then get the phone. It has gotten good reviews and has a good reputation here.
Go for it. This phone should last you the amount of time you want it to without it feeling outdated by the 1 year mark. Hard to say what will be our in 3 years but I plan to keep mine for to better part of 3 years.
I'd wait and see if there's gonna be a new nexus phone with L or go for the N5. This phone lags sometimes, has pretty low development activity (yeah, I know the reason, no complaint but a fact). After my nexus 4, I should've gone with the N5. The G3 is an okay phone in my opinion and looks sexy but the wow factor is missing for me...
The phone is great ..... but its really what you want your phone for and whether it fits those particular needs, I'm afraid there is no absolute answer, its about your needs and whether this phone fits them or another is more suitable.
I would advise research and checking it out and the competition, sorry no easy answers.

I'll try to tell you my history, from a person that doesn't change their phone every 3 months, or.. in a better way, a xda-user exception.
Got the Gnexus almost on the end of its lifespan (4 months before Nexus 4 release). It lasted 2 years when I gladly changed it to LG G3.
I saw a lot of reviews to after choose LG G3. What you will see outside is questions about the battery life due to the "unnecessary" QuadHD display.
Having a Gnex for 2 years is undoubtedly a nice school for battery life and screen on time use...
I really don't care about that after having that phone for 2 years.. and in every aspect besides battery life, LG G3 wins (for me).
So, tl:dr, buy it without doubt, grab a spare battery if you care so much. The design and the display of LG G3 destroy every other phone released till today.

Well, yeah, if you can't wait, go into a shop and try it, play around with it and decide how it feels for you. At end it's gonna be u using it I'm not happy with it but I'm okay with it personally. Only reason I got it is that I broke my nexus 4 and got a good deal on it from my SP. Otherwise I was thinking about ordering a nexus 5. Had it in my hand, used it before, I just simply love nexus phones for aosp android, quick updates knowing Google is behind it and if they screw something up in the software they will be quick to release a fix while manufacturers won't be, and to be honest they make shifty UI except Sony imo but I had 2 Xperia phones, both were flagship devices and both sucked.
But as said before, it's your own personal preference. Try it in a shop and you'll see it for yourself. It looks really sexy with the huge display with the tiny bezels and reminds me of the nexus 5 a bit as well. Though I miss my aosp android experience and the quick updates. I however appreciate for instance the IR control and the camera.

The Note 3 was announced early last September and released at the end. Samsung staff have been told there's going to be no annual leave around the middle of Septemeber, the correlates to what happens around their releases. There's no way they'd wait over a month from when they announce to being on sale.
The G3 struggles with the 801 powering it. Check out the videos of a comparison of the G3 805 Vs G3 801. Check out the articles on Samsung's new QHD screen technology also,it uses less power. There may be other better phones out later this year or next but it would be mad to buy an 801 QHD phone when the other major companies are about to release their 805 versions.

Just out of interest, would that be a grey import? The cheapest I can find in UK which is probably imported from EU is £390 which is about 480 Euros. Or is it second hand? Makes more sense if it is the latter.

It's already been used for a month or so
Would definitely wait for the note 4, the G3 doesn't stand a chance against it

Would love to read about their new screens using less power, do you have a link?
so i brok my note 4 screen ytd, and it cost me too much to repair it again (i already broke once). I decided to switch from samsung as its built quality is terrible (also, i hate the ugly home button). i m actually looking forward to get this phone. is it still worth to get it now? as i am quite busy lately, i dont plan to root it anymore.. can i still freeze some built in apps i dont need?
thanks
Also intrested...
Hey, man. I'm having the same dilemma. I'm looking for a 300-350 $ smartphone and I think this is the best available, but don't know if this phone is worth it after a year from it's release. Can anybody advice us?
I got the phone less than a month ago. As far as I'm concerned, it's still right up their with the top of the line phones spec wise. Nothing wrong with getting this phone now. 3GB of RAM, a fast processor, updated to Lollipop. Not sure what else anyone needs in a smartphone. Plus a 5.5" screen with a great display and LG's UX is much better than Samsung's TW if you ask me.
To the OP, you won't be able to freeze apps without root, but you can uninstall updates/disable any app that you don't want to use or see anymore. You can't completely uninstall them, but they won't be running or seen. Any Lollipop phone can do this.

Ive just done exactly what you folks are asking today. Returnred my Note 4 as I really hate TW with a passion and that horrible screen touch "pop pop" everytime you press something. I bought the N4 a few days ago, hoping that Sammy had done something with TW in 501 update, albeit they havent.. and I found I had no use for the S-Pen, but I do think the N4 QHD screen is stunning. I returned the N4 and bought a G3 and got money back... .. amazing phone, loving it so far.. and the audio is awesome, with the QuadBeat Headphones and 1Amp speaker.

I agree ... The G3 is a great phone and apart from the G4, theres nothing on the market that touches it.. the S6 still has TW, The One M9 is just an M8 with a new camera. theres no new Nokia/MS flagships yet, the NExus 6 is an alternative if you want pure Android, so ATM... the G3 is one of the best phones out there until the G4 comes down in price (which I cant wait for), but at the moment the G4 is too pricey.
Go for it, buy the G3, you can pick up a Brand New unlocked/Unbranded G3 for about £350/$400 .. so yeah... I recommend it
Good luck
Thank you guys, I'll follow your advices and my gut. Soon I'll be part of the G3 family.
I got mine from amazon Wednesday to replace my z2. The phone is amazing. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00...ords=lg+g3&dpPl=1&dpID=41uvCd6+PVL&ref=plSrch this is where i got mine
I'm a phone-a-holic lol and rarely keep one for more than 6 months before moving onto something else newer and better. Over the years this is by far the best phone I've owned. It almost seems impossible to brick. It can be but simple to get out of a soft brick. Go for the g3 you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for your answers, guys. I have a nother question: can the new or recent owners clarify if the few issues reported (lag related to the cpu governor, overheating, etc.) have been fixed recently with OTA updates? Thanks.
