The T-mobile galaxy note came out today.
Anybody plan to purchase the galaxy note?
No lame. Nothing worse than buying a year old phone , and weeks.just before the note2 is coming out.

Not only that. Who wants to carry that thing around!? Plus a screen that big, no way it gets half decent battery life. I love my s2 ^-^

Not happening. Maybe if I owned a business and needed something that size vs a tablet...
based on the replies looks like the t-mobile note sales will be poor.
maybe in a few weeks Tmobile will be selling it for $99.
I thought the note has pretty good battery life?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
It does have great battery life actually and for Corp guys it would have been a great phone a year ago. I'm still completely stunned that T has gone ahead with this. For the few that do buy it , and let's say number is 5 to 9000. Those people just signed a 2 year contract for a 1 year old phone.
Take sec and let that number set in.
3 weeks from now the airwaves will be blasted with news of the Note2. This puts everyone just about that rushed out to get the Note outside of the 14 day return policy. Dirty, oh so dirty but planned oh so well.
Now about 2 months from now att and maybe vzw will be getting the Note2. A brand new full of bad ass tech that from the rumors will be freaking killer.
So back to that 5 to 9000 people that got suckered into buying the Note, well their screwed for 2 more years on a already year old phone.
Don't think for one min that alot of those in that number set aren't going to feel like the got taken.
I would even bet that a number as high as 40% will be calling up *****ing and I would say 5% cut contact and leave. Those that stick it out will have such a bad taste in their mouth will never re-sign and I bet that number would be in the 30% range.
The thing is, it's not that the Note is a bad phone. It's just way late to the party and priced insanely wrong.
Let's say you do this right.
T-Mobile is asking $600 + for their phone retail , "a year old phone". When the Note2 hits you should be able to pick it up for about the same price or maybe 50 more from car phone warehouse etc. Then you have a choice, run your new note2 on T-Mobile or on a prepaid like simple mobile for like 50 for everything. Or you could wait and buy one from att when they get it.
Point is you have choices and don't feel like your stuck with just what
T-Mobile hands you.

$300 Unlocked
Qualcomm Snapdragon(TM) S4 Pro
2GB RAM
Android 4.2
Software from Google.
hell, when my contract with T Mobile expire on Jan I'll just drop them and get this baby.
LG made, kinda not excited, but for $300 this thing sounds like a steal. But comparing this with $600 for SGS 3 or Note II, the choice if obvious.
Edit: The lack of microSD sucks. But I can live with it (probably)
Hmm, I was hoping for an HTC One X+, but this sounds more exciting.
I looked at this- I would rather have a microSD slot, otherwise, it looks like fun. For the price, it's a fair consideration for a Nexus device. In full disclosure, I did just buy a Relay 4G- it's still unopened in the box.
However, I am planning on getting a Nexus 10, even without the microSD.
I thinking about it. For the Specs and that price its hard to past.

Honestly it depends on how development for the Relay goes over the next 6 months lol.

The developers at xda are awesome and I will still be a frequent visitor no matter what. But having a Nexus phone from Google might mean that I don't have to play with my phone to make it work anymore.
To be honest, I use my smartphone mostly to make phone calls (unbelievable, isn't it?) and read news.
Jep. I'm totally getting one.

I am getting one, can't wait !

I'll be getting my wife and I one. Especially with the TMo subsidy. We're mid-contract on our Classic Plan anyway.

Man, why're you getting it on contract for $200 while off-contract it's only $350?
I am turning my Classic Plan to Value Plan, cost $20 less per month. That will pay for the price difference in 8 months and save me $250 over the next 2 years.
Does anyone know the downside of a non removable battery? People keep mentioning it as a problem but I don't get it.

you can have more than one battery.... if its stuck in the fone once its flat its useless
Another negative about a non removable battery is if something is hanging your phone you can't pull the battery. I kind of like the looks of the phone but no sd card slot? Kinda odd. Coming up on my upgrade in december and I may have to go into tmobile and play with one and see about getting it so long as the mod community is there. Anyone here bought a phone off contract from google before? If so how was the experiance?

There are two screws visible on the bottom of the casing, so although we haven't seen a full teardown yet, I get the feeling it's not going to be hard to replace the battery if necessary.

Ill be gettin one the day it comes out. hopefully anyways. The vision is nice and have loved it. But when my gf has the one s and I can zip through anything on her phone without it slowing down and havin my tranformer prime to play with all the time just makes me use my phone for nothing when I used to use it for everything. I just want moar power!! G2 is still the best phone I've ever used thou

I have come to accept the fact that the G3 is not coming. If I have to go without a physical keyboard then getting a Nexus device is the next best thing. That said, I can get this off contract, and if Tmobile gets a high end phone with a physical keyboard in a year or so I can get back on contract to get it.

You never need to do a battery pull. Read up on how to hard shut off devices without removable batteries (like all tablets).
Every single device I've ever bought has been off contract and buying from Google is just like any other. My Nexus 7 is great, but while my Samsung Galaxy S III isn't Google, I run the exact same rom on it as I do on my n7. It was also quicker/easier to root and install a custom rom on my sgs3, plus it has 80gb internal storage (16gb+64gb, am using 42gb of that space as of this post) vs the extremely limited space on my n7.
There are more accessories for the sgs3 than the n7 and development wise roughly the same roms (maybe more if you count touchwiz).
Granted my sgs3 on Android 4.1.2 has a bug my nexus 7 doesn't have (which doesn't affect me), but still those possibilities are important to consider.
I guess my point is that passing on a non Google device for a nexus really isn't that obvious (to me anyway). I have more storage, faster network speeds, a removable battery (multiple ones even), and greater accessory selection. I use the same rom for both devices and both are unlocked and off contract. However, and this is a big deal for some people, I paid probably $200 more for my sgs3 than I would for the nexus 4.
Always consider the potential developer community but more importantly consider the manufacturer and the phone itself. Personally I've never had a good experience with LG hardware in the past, so if I were considering the n4 I would have to see tests and testimonials of people using it in real world situations, but there are some things that scare me just from what's been put out there already.
How fragile is that glass back? The one on the Optimus G broke within days on a reviewer who babied his device and had no idea how it happened.
Can the wireless charging work with a case? I know all phones with inductive charging currently can't..
Lastly, how bad on the battery is that new screen of theirs? The Optimus G (same screen) got a lot of criticism for its bad battery life and excessive screen drain. Without the ability to swap batteries I can see it being a deal breaker for some.
Those are just my personal thoughts and opinions based on the 5 android devices I've owned though. Time will ultimately tell.

i came from the n4, after my galaxy nexus. i could stand the galaxy nexus not have removeable sd but at least it had removeable battery. i can't justify "upgrading" to a phone that is against progress of android. terrible battery life, glass front and back thats easy to scratch and crack. and then 10 minutes into usinf the browser and the phone gets so hot you can fry an egg on it, literally. not to mention, google and lg making like 15 of em and being sold out, tmobile not carrying it in stores. now that they carry it in store, still no accessories. yeah have fun with that phone. galaxy s3 is hands down the best android phone produced till date.
I tried the N4 and I'd miss the few hardware buttons remaining on the s3. The soft buttons seem like such a waste of screen real estate.
I also purchased a nexus 4 the other night. But I'm also keeping my s3 til I get the n4 and make a comparison.

I don't understand how the Nexus 4 is against the progress of Android. It has Google's version of android on it. The lack of sd card expansion is the way that Google wants to go. As for the removable battery that just seems to be the latest trend.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion so you can like the phone or not. But saying it hinders the progress of android just doesn't make sense to me.

Sprints galaxy nexus should i get it
My 2 years is up i need a new phone. They have it for 99 with a free extended battery included.
I want something i'll be able to get the (latest updates for as long as possible.)
******Like whatever comes after jellybean.********
Or, i know wrong forum should i get the samsung sg3 2 gigs ran and 1.5 dual core. confused .
My opinion, get something like the Galaxy S 3 or galaxy note 2. The galaxy nexus is already an "old" phone (the S3 isn't exactly new either). The Sprint GNex doesn't get updates direct from Google so it takes longer to get updates than getting a nexus straight from Google. If you want updates right away you have to root, which you could do on any phone to get updates. I would get something with newer hardware at thus point, if you can afford it. Don't get my wrong, I love my phone, but it's much slower than my girlfriend's nexus 4 with brand new hardware

Honestly, if you can, wait for the S4, or buy the nexus off of ebay and sell it when the S4 comes out. I love my Gnex, but she's getting along in age and I wouldn't recommend it right now, for 2 years.

It's a great phone but I wouldn't sign a new 2 year contract for it considering the LGOG is $150
There are other retailers that are selling it for $50 with an extension. You could trade in your phone and essentially get it for free, but again I don't think it's worth signing a new 2 year contract. Actually, I don't think any phone is worth being locked into a 2-year contract...
Do what I did, find one on Craigslist. I talked a seller down to $100 cash. I'm sure you can pick one up for $150 or less.
Right now you can find them on Ebay anywhere from $150 to $200 with clear esn
Gnex is a great decide... But not worth being locked in for 2 years... I'd go with the note 2 and then root it.... Or do like the other guy said and find one on craigslist for less than 150 and wait till the next greatest comes out.

I don't think anybody's mentioned this, but the stock 1750 or 2100 mAh BATTERY LIFE can be pretty bad if you don't tweak your phone and really is the only downfall. You gotta be comfortable with rooting, flashing to get the most out of it. Energy use with the development of multicore high performance phones was underestimated, and this phone would have been perfect if the hardware developers used a 3500mAh batt mesh with the phone. That's why newer phones have batteries with about twice the charge of the Galaxy Nexus. **You can get a big 3800mAh battery for this phone for $25 off Amazon btw which works great, I have one.
The other thing is that this is more a developer's phone, so keeping up to date is not really what most people would think, it's more like keeping up to developmental/experimental/day-day updates. Things can be pretty stable but also buggy and optimization is usually up to the user. There are a lot of stable Android software builds, and the community support and development is huge and has a myriad of talented ambitious developers. It does take a lot of tech savvyness to get used to this phone. Anyone who uses this phone will end up learning a lot of useful tech/software/phone knowledge. That all said, I love this phone, and I'm very satisfied with the in-depth feature richness of the Galaxy Nexus.
Also, I don't recommend upgrading with a contract. Really do some research on this.
Is this a trick question? You can get the Nexus 4 unlocked for $350.

actually the updates do come from google once sprint approves them but it just takes a bit longer. but updates dont matter bc you will probably be running a custom rom anyhow, i assume. but on to the question, i still think the nexus is one of the best phones you can pick up but the only phone that has made me consider getting away from it is the lg optimus g, only problem is there is still not a tone of development for it. but also the sgs4 will be announced in march i believe so should be out in april.
As others have already stated. It's a good phone but only if you buy used or pay out of pocket. IMO, it is not worth locking yourself into a 2 year contract. I've had this phone for a year and I have a line on my family plan that has had an available upgrade since last July. This phone is good enough for me to not use the upgrade for a Note 2. I've played with the Note 2 and I like it a lot.
I can't speak about the nexus 4. I've never seen one or used T-Mobiles network. Good luck with your decision.
Lets be honest guys, things don't look good on our side. We haven't heard a damn thing about a Gnex version of 4.4 and considering that Google already left us without Miracast, LE Bluetooth and left us on linux 3.0, 4.3 Jelly Bean may be our last update.
So, if google abandon us, are you guys staying on gnex or will you move on? Share your thoughts.
Since I'll be in the army next year I'm going to hold off buying the nexus 5 as I just won't have the time to enjoy it and get amongst all the development but once I'm all settled in and begin my studies towards the end of the year I may just wait for the next nexus its going to be hard but a wise decision I think I'll live hahahaha

I'm still going to have my Gnex. It still does what I need it to and it still is acceptably fast for my applications. I really do not want to switch to a device with a non-removable battery. My only gripe so far 2 years later is that the GPS works so much better on the later phones by comparison
I'll do my best to get Nexus 5 when it's out.
I'm on Verizon should pretty much explain it all. I'm stuck with 4.2.2 galaxy nexus

I buy nexus 5 and my gnex goes to my sister.
Just sit back and watch everything unfold. I got my GNex last year at around October(Bad timing I know) and I only started using it as my daily starting from August this year. I find the phone to be quite good as I was upgrading from a HTC G2. I'll gladly wait another year or so but I wouldn't mind getting a N4 just to add to the collection
If there was a 3000 mah battery similar in size to the oem one, I would keep g nexus for another year or two. This phone sucks because of battery. Period. All the rest is bearable.
Hopefully we will get 4.4 from Google, however i'm sure we will have some great custom 4.4 roms if not.
The Nexus 5 looks nice, however the only real reason to upgrade for me would be 4g, that will not be in my area for another year so i see little point in upgrading. I get 10mbps on 3g anyway so i cant honestly say i'm that bothered about 4g.
The Galaxy Nexus runs all the apps i need it to fine, sure better phones are out, however i see no point in upgrading for the sake of it. The Galaxy Nexus has another year in it yet easily.
Going to buy a Nexus 5 as soon as possible
(probably the day after tomorrow lol)
The GNex is fine for me usually. I just reeeally want a phone where the screen sensitivity doesn't ***t the bed on me all the time.
And the nail in the coffin (which isn't the GNex' fault) is the standard SIM slot. I'm getting a device with a micro sim and want a phone with one as well so I can swap between the two. So Nexus 5 it is, cause I'm not spending $600 on a phone right now.
I have a question , IF the n5 will be sold in the 1st november , it will go online on the playstore at 00:00 AM Worldwide based on american time? Because where i live i'm working at that time

No idea the Verizon version had a mircrosim. The GSM one has a standard size slot.
Although I didn't know there were adapters available. I"ll ask my carrier when I get my watch. I'll still probably get a Nexus 5, just not quite so quickly.
