On my tmo g4 I noticed when I was using my phone at night I could see light coming from both the right and left edges of the screen where it meets the body of the phone so I looked closer and the screen is actually coming out of the phone where the phone has a slight curve and I can literally push the screen down and see it move. I'm curious if I'm the only one or is this a common thing. I can't take any pictures because I don't have any other camera right now
Bump
The new update that tmobile pushed out should take care of the issues retracting the glue along with the screen by setting 10 second timer of an overclock to heat the phone up just right to let the adhesive settling in... at the end the update should prompt when this technical procedure is acomplished after a quick reboot! ??

To OP, Idk why you bumped this? Clearly this is an issue that's only fixed with returning the phone.

You sat on it didn't you.... Lol

Don't know why it would "pop up" , just dont mention you dropped it when you were cleaning the gutters on your two story house.
Actually, someone on Reddit had this same issue. They ended up exchanging it with AT&T

This morning I woke up to find my phone dead off the charger. I plugged it in to charge and went back to sleep. I woke up later and powered it up. Then I noticed an odd discoloration in the lower right side of my screen. A quick load of a webpage with a white background and sure enough I had some large yellowish blob discoloring my beautiful display on my T-Mobile Galaxy S II.
I haven't had this phone for more than two months so I called T-Mobile and they quickly issued a warranty replacement (it's in the mail). So, I ask you, what's wrong with this picture and has anyone else seen this on their phone?
(see attached picture of my screen)
I haven't seen that. Good that they replaced it. My screen has a dead pixel...can't really see it because its at the status bar and the signal icon is right on top of it, but I'm going to try to get it replaced. Hopefully they do as I haven't paid my bill yet.

Whoa that is crazy looking. Sorry about your phone! Never sen that before.
Possibly extensive exposure to UV light. (Sun)
UV damages the organic light emitting diodes. Almost instantly upon exposure.
They manufacture the screen in such a way that prevents UV damage. If they didnt, just using it in a naturally lit room could rape your screen. But maybe yours is flawed.

I have no idea what caused that, but the first thing I thought of was how crt monitors would look like that when I left an unshielded speaker (magnet) nearby..and I think I just showed my age.

Best guess is that it was an inherent flaw in the LCD that came out after being bumped or dropped? Either way, handset insurance took care of it and T-Mob waived the fees because it was only a week or two old at the time. They shipped me a new one overnight and I sent them the bad one back...
Mine had similar problem. Something impacted the screen I guess. At one point I could see a dark line in the blob. Figured it was a crack. But mine grew until it consumed the whole screen.

Questions go in the Q&A section
So ive had my g2 about two years now, its got is scratches and what not, but for the most part it functions well.
The largest issue is that sometimes when using the touch screen when i pull my finger away that area will stay activated like my finger is there. Happens a lot when using the on screen keyboard, and it seems to be getting a little worse.
Sometimes a good cleaning helps, but before long it comes back.
Anyone have the same experience, or able to recommend a fix.
Was thinking of doing a digitizer/screen replacement but figured id see if there were any experienced suggestions.
Thanks in advance!

since my phone is new I have this ''issue''.
I got it on the motorola milestone also.
But for me, the problem appear when I have sweaty hand ( stress or too much cofee). It looks like if I still press a key even if my finger is off.
My brother had the same problem on is galaxy SII , he put a plastic film (protective glass) and the problem is gone.
In inverse, if my fingers are too dry, the screen has difficulty to respond.
My solutions : wash my hans often, dont drink coffee, dont stress and wipe the screen on my jeans.
Thread moved to Q & A section, post in the relevant section next time.
So a few days ago I began to notice that the back of my phone is now creaking, I first heard it when i went to pick my phone up the other morning and it sounded like an old hardwood floor creaking sound, it's progressively gotten worse to where now when i hold my phone during a call if i shift my hand at all the person on the other line can hear it. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. The creaking seems to be isolated to (if you're staring at the back of the phone) the left half of the phone just below the power button and stops creaking above the phone model number beneath the glass.

They have a similar thread on the international optimus g page with the same complaint. I wonder if the Nexus owners do to.
Edit: the Nexus has the same issue. Just Google nexus 4 and rattle. Seems pretty wide spread.

So this makes me curious as to what other defects its going to have, but I'm on to a different issue, phone dropped about 2" and the digitizer broke, so when my new screen comes in i will do a walk through tutorial on how to replace it... starting to wish i had gone with the GS3...
Mine is also doing that. Just started to notice it today. Kinda makes my opinion of the build quality a little less. But still love the phone. Minus the messaging bug. LOL.

If I use my shoulder to hold the phone to my ear I get a creaking sound too. That's the only time I've heard it though. I imagine it has to do with the glass back.
Here, too. It's the camera side, right below it, that creaks. Fortunately, it's only noticeable when I deliberately squeeze it.

solid here....this msg bug you guys are talking about, is it when your typing the sceen jumps and your back at the start of the msg?
Hey, so I just noticed that if I flip the phone over and orient it so the camera is on top, then it will creak when I push on the left side. You can also see the casing move in slightly. It's almost as if it's broken somewhere but you can't see any crack.
I thought the people at Best Buy had said the back was glass but it's looking more like cheap plastic at this point. Is it different on AT&T maybe?

I dropped mine from chest height and nothing happened to it. That really sucks for you. How much was the replacement screen?

The replacement screen was $130 went with 2 day shipping (Digitizer/LCD Assembly). Just the digitizer was only $60 but it's a good thing I went with the whole assembly because when i was trying to pull the glass out of the housing some of the shards came off by themselves, and revealed that LG "fusing" the glass to the lcd is literally glue covering the entire LCD making it damn near impossible to just replace the digitizer and make it look nice.
Also a few warnings to those disassembling their phones:
1) The battery isnt solid, more like cased in an extreemly soft metal so it will dent if not carefully removed (it's glued into the housing)
2) The chrome edge dent's very easily, have a small ding where i got impatient, TAKE YOUR TIME!
3) When removing the back cover don't cross over the volume rocker, power button, or USB port with the spudger. for the top of the back removal gently push the back cover forward dont try to shove your spudger in their, it wont work lol.
I'm going to be doing a full disassembly guide that's a lot easier to follow than the "engrish" version korea put out for us english speaking techs when my new roll of 3m tape comes in. =P
This cracking is caused by a small piece of sticky under the back cover you can either remove the sticky or ad some more this would prevent the cracking...
I posted a service guide here on XDA search my name for it... It will show how you can remove the back cover... just when taking it off remember the back can crack easy and the plastic can ding or dent rather easy and make sure you don't mess up the power button or the volume buttons

I have a gap too on top between the glass and chrome bezel and also collecting dust after a few days. Seems they made the glass a little bit too small. If you're not happy return it.

That's probably gonna depend on the sales rep. Some will probably think you're too picky or they will understand and give you another. Also I assume they would lose sale on the other since it's been opened. But it's always worth a try. If you return it for a refund they would lose a sale as well. Good luck.

I had a problem with my mic on the first day I got it and they didn't give me any hassel. But I too am getting minor dust around the top near the reciever. My home button moves too but it's not too bad it does go a bit diagonal from time to time. Still love this phone though!

Gap around the glass has been mentioned on here before. Expansion and contraction prevents glass cracking according to another forum member. My home button is good. With all these manufacturers tolerances I'm hesitant to swap units as the next one may have another quirk that I won't be able to live with. Cue my old Galaxy S4. Verticle lines down screen noticeable on grey backgrounds in low light. Swapped that unit 2 times. 3rd unit was same. However wife's s4 was perfect.

Got a replacement yesterday and this one deosnt have a huge gap on top. Even all the way around.

Something that, as a phone tech, I feel the need to explain- it is NORMAL for buttons to wiggle. It is NOT a defect and NOT a reason to exchange the device. You are not going to find one that doesn't have at least some degree of movement, just due to the way these phones are constructed. The button itself is just a little piece of plastic & silicone that is aligned with the hole in the screen before the whole unit is assembled. It is not actually attached to anything, it is free-floating inbetween the digitizer and the board underneath. Even if you manage to get one that doesn't wiggle, it will eventually start to wiggle the more you use it as the materials relax.
I agree. But I think the problem is the hole is bigger than it should be so the buttons have a lot of room too move around compared to the s4. Thats just how it is on this phone. Take it or leave it. The glass is a different story as it can be off centered when put on.

Just sent my Nexus 7 for a touch screen problem. For some reason it keeps registering two fingers when only one is actually being used. This caused erratic typing and ghost touches. The thing is on the front panel, there is a minor scratch that isn't too large but barely touches the screen. Do you think that would be considered a damage by me or would they not question that? It is a scratch for sure not a crack, but it is pretty dominant. I got the scratch before this display thing had started to happen and the scratch isn in the same area as the place in which the display is faulty.
Thanks in advance.
You can't do anything about the scratch anymore, so your best bet is to send it to the caste center and hope they fix it.
How did you scratch it? Did you drop it? Because if you did, there might be damage on other components as well. If you didn't, then there's nothing to worry about, just a scratch is no big deal.

I'm having the exact same issue, it's most noticeable when typing, sometimes when scrolling web pages it zooms in or out like I'm using two fingers, and my N7 is in perfect condition, with no damage on the screen at all. If they're going to just fix it you shouldn't have an issue, replacing it completely they may give you some trouble.

The scratch came from my car keys. Ik that the scratch wont be fixed but I do not want them to blame the screen error on the scratch which I am afraid is going to happen.

It seems that N&'s built during September of 2013 have this problem. Check your box for the build date and see if it is the same. Thats exactly what I have. When I type it hits too keys. For example it will hit c and space. Hopefully they replace it. Thanks though

Try calling ASUS and sending it in. They will fix it for free. Also ask the service guy for free shipping. Usually you have to pay but if you keep on asking, he will finally give in. Good Luck with your tablet!
